Ta v Much Mnfm. Computer broke, on phone for time being. Cant see old thread if any recent msg important pls re post!

SexOnFire · 12/11/2008 13:50

Hello all, I just copied and pasted a bit of my last post for you MB...

Merryberry- yes I'm still going to the Christmas do. Going to wear my boring but flattering black dress and see if I can fit into my Spanx as I'm at least a dress size bigger than I when I bought them. If I suddenly collapse on the night it won't be casued by excess alcohol, it'll be because my stays are too tight. Smelling salts will be in my bag.

merryberry · 12/11/2008 14:17

Ditto old but friendly dress. Need a necklace and punishment underwear too. Knickers need to read my nose to hold i double chin. Any chance we can pre meet for dutch courage?

turtle23 · 12/11/2008 14:18

evie sorry, forgot. There is a company called Tui who make something called Bee Balme which is FANTASTIC for eczema. It moisturises and is naturally antibiotic/antiseptic etc. so heals at same time. Also fabaroo for nappy rash. Try it!!

SexOnFire · 12/11/2008 17:40

MB- the pre-meet is compulsory I would say. I have been a bit neglectful of facebook recently but I'll send you a message. It's ironic isn't it? The one place where we could wear our baby bellies with pride.....except mine is more of a Black Forest Gateaux belly so will be squeezing into the magic pants and erecting scaffolding to create some sort of pleasing silhouette. I think Ewe is coming too.

Any other mad brave people from our group coming to the Mumsnet Xmas/Works do?

turtle23 · 12/11/2008 20:13

dh still quite with me, car locks changed (still only one key, think i will send him to copy that ) but to save £150 and we have had two days of faffing about to remove the lock from car door......house keys still to go have been bolting the door

evie2000 · 13/11/2008 09:15

turtle thank you so much will give it a try. I need to get it undercontrol for now with the horrible steriods I think but then this would be fantastic afterwards. I did find one made by verde which is a similar idea which worked well for a bit - like everything it's trial and error with skin conditions and nothing seems to work all of the time. (whispers - please don't beat me up for using steriods on my ds - I have beaten myself up enough but have made my decision based on his discomfort and my instinct to make him better)
good luck at the meet up ladies you will look fantastic and post baby bumps are the most glamourous thing to have (that's what i keep telling myself!)

turtle23 · 13/11/2008 09:29

evie- I don't think we're a judgy lot.
Steroids are absolutely necessary when it's bad...why prolong the agony? It only ends up getting infected, which then requires anitb's. You're a great mum for caring so much IMO.

JFly · 13/11/2008 09:46

Sigh. I'm a year older. It's taken me a few days to come to terms. But DH came through and took me to a lovely dinner at Chez Bruce and I'm getting a swanky digital SLR camera. And G got me a spa voucher for the Ark, so I'm quite pleased!

Littleducks, I'm not able to meet on Sunday, but would love to meet babies so will hop on other thread again. Can you bring DD with you so you can come in the week? I'm sure no one would mind. I can understand not wanting to brave tube with both, though.

Any suggestions for getting G to hurry up with his meals? It's taking the best part of an hour to get anything into him. I don't want to take food away after X minutes, b/c I think he needs some time since he's feeding himself. BUT, it is doing my head in. He spends a lot of time pushing me away if I offer something. I'd like to leave him to get on with it, but he is sooooo slow. And, now doesn't seem to want half of what I put out for him. Poor chap has been snotty, teething, and had a bit of a poor tummy, so maybe he's just not so hungry.

I'm going to start locking the dogs out of the room, too, since he seems more interested in feeding them than himself!

noolia · 13/11/2008 09:49

Turtle - that balm sounds good, the website doesn't list the ingredients though, do you happen to know what they are? Then I can copy and make my own!
evie - of course you used steroids on your ds. 'Natural' is all very well and good but we can't let our babies suffer if there is a remedy!
HQ - hope cold is better. Pittas were fab, dd loved them and so did dh (even without salt in them). Really fluffy and soft!
newcomers - hello !

No teeth here either and dd is only two weeks short of 9 months. Thank goodness, I say! She can manage a 15 second 'freestand' now but is still waking for a feed in the night. It's very annoying as she slept through till she was 6 months! She's still in our room too, and often ends up in bed with us .

littleducks · 13/11/2008 09:50

at the dogs

my mum's favourite story about me as a baby was that while i was eating faffing about with dinner, i watched the cat for a min or two then stuck my face in the bowl and ate like that

wearehipsandmakers · 13/11/2008 09:56

Hello all. Just catching up in a brief window of baby in bed and chores temporarily done. Both DS and DD have had stinkers of colds for the last 2 weeks, so disrupted nights, lots of thomas the tank engine and calpol, and more washing- what with the snail trials over everything I own; 1 set at shoulder height (DD) and one at approx knee level (DS) and the vomiting- than you can shake a stick at.
Also had some friends with immaculate lives visiting at the weekend which was fun but hard work. very as they (rather sheepishly) fessed to not having a mortgage any more. Of course he's a banker, so he should be sheepish. DS had a great time as they have a boy about 6 months older than him who he gets on really well with. And a daughter about 8 months older than DD so DH and I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. DD still not rolling, but is now concentrating on getting the hang of standing.
Anyway, washing machine finished and baby awake so back to business.
sigh

JFly · 13/11/2008 09:57

LD that is precious!

turtle I am so of your teeth! G has had the same two teeth for about 2 months and been teething ever since with NO NEW TEETH. I am fed up. With any luck, this will mean more sleep for you.

Oddly, G has been sleeping this whole week. I can't think of what has changed, apart from I'm trying to put him down closer to 7pm. He used to be down by 6:15-6:30, so perhaps that extra half hour or so means he's ready for a proper sleep. But it could also be that he's napping well in the afternoon so he's not hideously overtired by 6pm. Anyway, I'll take it!

wearehipsandmakers · 13/11/2008 10:00

snail trails, even. They are a trial tho' too.
boom boom.

Don't worry,I'll leave quietly.

HolidaysQueen · 13/11/2008 10:16

evie - despite the bad press, steroids are actually wonderful things when used right. sounds like your ds needs them at the moment, so please don't even begin to feel guilty.

weare - i'm convinced my DS has forgotten how to roll. he was never that fussed anyway but now he just flails a bit and then decides being wherever he is is more fun than the effort involved in changing position he will stand, but only when in our laps. TBH he sat up unaided so early that I think he decided that is what he liked to do and he has no interest in doing anything else - will sit happily on his own for hours if we let him!

noolia - i haven't done the pittas yet myself! don't have a breadmaker which the recipe specifies even though i know a breadmaker isn't essential so i'd always earmarked them for another day - might give them a go this weekend. my ds LOVES pitta and would eat it all day, so i could do with some salt free pittas in the house really. DH always has pitta and hummus for a snack when he gets in from work and DS has started shamelessly stealing several pieces!

jfly - my DS is also BLW and takes at least 45 mins, often longer, to eat his lunch . i give him his, make mine while he is faffing, eat with him which helps him speed up a little as he copies me, then do boring household paperwork at table while he finishes off. the thing is, he is always so happy while he is eating that although it takes bloody ages i just let him get on with it and have fun. if we have to be out, i just start lunch slightly earlier and just don't offer dessert (i.e. fruit) afterwards

my cold is a lot better, and my period is already almost over is it normal for your first period to be very light, as if your body hasn't quite got into gear yet?

MarchNowFebMum · 13/11/2008 11:01

? at this big MN meet up on the 22nd - mb and sof sounds like you have been before. am intrigued about why you need dutch courage? are there freakish mn people there who will only introduce refer to themsleves as screen names and such?

Anybody know whether hazelwood works for teething?

turtle23 · 13/11/2008 12:28

Just to add have had one more tooth this morning. 3 in one day is just mad. No wonder he's been sleeping badly.

e14mum · 13/11/2008 12:51

Hey all.
Just wanted to add evie that steroids are sometimes necessary to clear eczema up- and once it's under control then you can look at other remedies. I have had it for years (and am so glad dd doesn't).
HQ- my periods (all 3 of them) since dd have been really light. I thought the same.
My weekends really full. Can we do a weekday meetup? I'll head over there now...

turtle23 · 13/11/2008 12:54

at those who have had light periods since DC. I used to have tiny periods, now have 7 day monsters. Added to that, when I BF during them it cramps horribly!
