Hi sybil, I think Ambre is the poo lady, DS had a week of every nappy and runny, but better now,but don't know whether it was a bug (thereis a lot of them around), the lactose intolerance or teething.

poppy34 · 09/11/2008 20:22

sponge cute photo- I see you've gone same route we have with headphones (edie slept /ate her way through the rugby yesterday -was far more excited by trip there).

sponge/amber agree re austin for strictly -hate tom and that smug one from the one show... not been watching x factor so much but was gobsmacked re rachel staying in yesterday.

5gomad is your HV peggy from teh archers?sounds abotu as socially graceful.

right back to tv , internet shopping and red wine -sorry I'm missing the meet up toorrow london ladies but next time

aberdeenhiker · 09/11/2008 20:28

PP I kept breastfeeding in the nights and evenings when I went back to work with DS1 too - my body adjusted really easily to the reduced feeds. I also fed more often on weekends too...

hedgehog glad you're doing so well now and that you're chatting on here!

5gomad it might not be a lactose intolerance but a milk protein intolerance - it's common in babies and they tend to outgrow it. My DS1 was that way and I didn't figure it out for ages! (the poo was exactly like you describe). Weaning isn't too bad but it's very annoying to not be able to use milk or cheese - so much of what we feed kids is milk based! Let me know if you want ideas.

ll sorry about your cat - hugs!

Not much news here - off to bed as soon as Top Gear's over

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/11/2008 20:30

AH that would be good, the first bit will be fine, Doc did say that he would outgrow it and to come and see him again to talk about reintroducing at a later date, so probably a protein intolerance.

aberdeenhiker · 09/11/2008 20:39

5gomad sounds like it is a milk protein thing if he'll outgrow it - that's good news. The hardest thing for me with weaning was making sure that DS1 had enough high calorie and fatty food (DS1 is on the small side). Things like avocado were great for upping his healthy fat content. I disregarded the dietician's advice to fry all his meals in vegetable fat (umm? don't think that's too healthy) and instead tried things like adding extra margarine to his potatoes.

Another thing is to check labels, lots of foods like margarines contain some milk protein (may be listed as whey as well as milk).

And there's always all the staples: spaghetti bolog, mince and tatties, stovies etc.

sybil for me the food allergy for DS1 meant he poo'd after every single feed. How many is Jamie having a day? Two or three wouldn't necessarily trigger any flags in my head...

bitofadramaqueen · 09/11/2008 20:39

Am still too hungover to chat. But marking where I've read up to.

libralady · 09/11/2008 20:40

Thanks for all the vitual hugs girls. Much appreciated.
I have been walking around like I've been hit by a bus today. Completely numb iykwim.
Having a real problem with Luke. Hopefully it's teething related as he is drooling so much and getting through 6 bibs and 2 sets of clothes a day at the moment. Great trying to get the washing done whilst being at work 7am - 5pm 4 days a week and trying to get it dry.
Anyhow, his milk intake has dropped considerably and he is still being sick. He's on infant gaviscon for reflux but whereas he was on 5 6oz bottles a day and draining them (did try to increase to 7oz but ended up taking less so went back to 6oz) he has now dropped to 4 bottles and leaves about 1-2oz after each feed and then sicks up some. Was even projectile on Friday night which was great as we had friends and family over for a bonfire party and fireworks and L got his godmother in the face, down the neck and completly soaked her top. She ended up in our shower afterwards. I'm afraid I was a bit pissed and just burst out laughing at my friend
Ho hum, better head off to bed in a mo as DH is away once more this week and need to get the kids to my Mums by 6.30 so I can get into work for 7am. Roll on Wednesday, another day off and the Friday night when DH will be back.
Sorry for the me post. I have caught up but can't remember what everyone has said. I must start to make notes before I post.
LLxx

bitofadramaqueen · 09/11/2008 20:41

Oh, thank you to those who commented on dream feed. S barely touched his bedtime feed so he'll definitely be dream feeding tonight. Am thinking that last night probably a fluke, but family member has 5 month baby who hasn't yet weaned but doesn't feed between 7pm and 7am.

libralady · 09/11/2008 20:42

Oh and I forgot to mention the most horrendous nappies, at least 6 a day which makes me suspect it's teething. Very very runny, sorry if TMI

aberdeenhiker · 09/11/2008 20:45

LL sounds like you've really got your hands full - I hope your week goes okay!

Essie3 · 09/11/2008 21:06

Evening all - a lot happened in the 2 days I was away! I wasn't away anywhere, just here in Wales. It's dreadful weather here.

So madly trying to catch up and sneak some info for myself in a selfish manner...BDQ (that must have been quite a hangover!) what was the answer with the dream feed? Iestyn seems to want one these days, but his sleeping is all over the place. (Hence not on mumsnet - too tired, and I'll deck anyone who mentions sleeping through - BDQ push that family member to the front of the queue!) In London we had him in his cot and it was ok. Then we had the long drive back, and Thursday night was dreadful, endless waking, endless crying, 2 hours sleep, stuck him back in the moses basket. I had guests Friday night and last night, so it was moses basket again, and he was ok Friday night, not so good last night.

So wondering about the dream feed - although if he wakes and is crying, what can I do?

I'm alone tonight so he's in the moses basket again.

Sorry too tired now. I'm going to eat a cake. I think I'm having a growth spurt.

London ladies - anyone free next week? Like, not tomorrow, but the following week? I'm back in London then. I still haven't met Sponge! (And 5GoMad - but you're on holiday, lucky thing! Counting the days? )

Parofleurmapu · 09/11/2008 21:14

Hiya all

Just catching up, went out today to the WOMAD festival in the capital city today, fab music and loads of lovely craft stalls etc. Cant believe that when i went last year i was bout 3 mths pregnant!!!

Growth Spurts - think fleur is either a) going through growth spurt,(feeding every 2hrs again had gone to 4hr) b)teething, drool, biting and diarrhea c) developmental stage Nothing we have done with routine etc has not worked so just riding it out!

BDQ we stopped DF, introduced it again and cant say if it makes any difference or not at mo and lOl at your hangover !!

ooh and LL sorry bout cat

5gomad - saw said friend today and mentioned you and she said she would love to speak so yes if you drop me your email ill pass it on

shhhhhhh re x factor havent watched it yet its still downloading. i watch it on MON!!!

Sponge- i got the wrap and wore it loads today really comfortable and fleur loves it too. We have a sling pouch and dont like it as much

Amber - you reminded me re injections The prevenar injection is it compulsory in england ie done on NHS as part of injections Here its paid for and would like to know if its really needed, dont understand why we have to pay if its that necessary what happens to people who cant afford it?

Interesting re weekend feeds AH something i was wondering

oh and LL very runny nappies here and no new foods introduced so suspecting teething too

bitofadramaqueen · 09/11/2008 21:19

Hi again. Having a complete nightmare. Trying to do internet christmas shopping. In vacant state have already had to reset credit card password and now been trying to 'checkout' at amazon for about 20 minutes but keep getting error messages. FFS.

Essie no conclusive answer I'm afraid. Different people, different experiences! I've always given S a dream feed, but my p's didn't give him one last night and he slept through. Am thinking that's just a coincidence though? Who knows! I think the 'experts' recommend keeping the dream feed till solids started. Maybe we should start a thread on the feeding topic

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/11/2008 21:21

Paro my email is sophweld1 at aol dot com.

Amber we don't ahve BCG down her as we are not in a high risk area (i.e. not a high immigrant population and not a high population density.

Parofleurmapu · 09/11/2008 21:24

hehe BDQ! I dare you!! then we can all go in and back you up as the June mafia!!!

Thanks 5gomad ill give it to her tomorrow

Upsidedowncake · 09/11/2008 21:48

Hi there

Just marking my place. But Libra, very sorry about your cat. Also, there is a horrible vomiting disease going around (which {Penguin's Ryder has had, as well as our family) and it reduces appetite and makes revolting nappies. Just a thought.

BDQ< hope you feel better.

hedgehog1979 · 09/11/2008 21:55

LL sorry to hear about your cat, one of MIL passed away 2 days before my due date and it was one that I helped to choose so that was really hard for me too.

amber no BCG here as we are also not in a high risk area

BDQ /Essie no answers re sleeping/dream feeds. Isaac has just gone down after feeding for 25 mins and will prob be up about 7am tomorrow morning. He does normally go down earlier but him and DH were watching top gear (TG and SCD are sky+ for me for tomorrow). The one time I tried to Dream feed he woke up and stayed up for another 2.5 hours.

SBBP I will bring my close baby carrier and my piece of jersey fabric for you to have a look at tomorrow if you want

paro WOMAD sounds like it was loads of fun. Have missed all the festivals this year, although did do Brighton Gay Pride (but more to meet people and people watch than for anything else)

poppy and sbbp haven't managed to take Isaac to a footie match yet, was hoping to get him to an FA cup game as last year Horsham got through to a proper round, but they haven't done that well this year.

Right, off to find out train times for tomorrow looking forward to meeting all you London Ladies again

spongebrainbigpants · 09/11/2008 21:59

HH, yes please! I'm also just off to find train times for tomorrow!

Morning everyone

LL - sounds like you're having a tough time of it, hope the week goes smoothly and dh is back soon.I thought the projectile vomit was quite impressive though!

Essie/Bdq I don't do the dream feed, I have tried it in times of desperate need but didn't find it made any difference. As you know Ethan has recently gone though a period of waking through the night again, the one night I fed him at 12.00 as he seemed to be stirring , he woke again 2 hours later. Last night he slept 7.30-6.00 (deb runs for cover, but I think I'm too far away for you to get me Essie - phew)

Essie - lol at you having a growth spurt

Paro - Ethan still feeds every 2 hours through the day.

bdq - did you get your shopping done? I am doing lots of virtual shopping at the moment! Saw loads on the Sciencemuseum online shop that I'd love for the boys but we've spent up on them, so I will give my Mum the ideas instead.

London ladies - have a great time, I am very , have something typically British for me like a toasted teacake or a scone please.

hedgehog1979 · 10/11/2008 08:48

deb we are going here so will try and find something british for you.

nothing else to add, just checking really

pureeandpearls · 10/11/2008 08:51

Will do Debs!

Can't wait to see everyone later.

Essie- DH in Cardiff all next week so would love the distraction of a meet-up!!

Sending big hugs to all having night-mares (see what I did there?) at the mo. We've had the longest few days with babypearls being ill but she's all better now so I'm looking forward to leaving the house

xxx

spongebrainbigpants · 10/11/2008 09:59

Wow, we've picked a lovely day for our meet up haven't we?!

Alex has decided to go for a mammoth sleep (his timing is impeccable as always!) so I may be a little late.

Really looking forward to it!

bitofadramaqueen · 10/11/2008 10:01

Morning all! Feeling much better today thanks, which is just as well as S is currently screaming the place down as he fights his nap. He normally goes down around 8.30, 9-ish but it't nearly 10! As a result I have of course got nothing done today.

Ooh, he seems to have stopped crying, hurrah!

Deb I finally finished my shopping this morning. Have just about finished christmas shopping now, DH and I going to finish it off in town tomorrow hopefully. I keep seeing more things I'd like for S, but we've already spent more than enough. I even remembered to shop via nectar so I got extra nectar points this morning though. I always forget to do that! I'm a big fan of nectar points - we managed to buy S this with nectar points recently and he loves it. Bugger, have just seen there is £19 off it this week. Typical!

Right, now he's asleep I'm going to try and get organised for the day. Enjoy your London meet up ladies.

PiggyPenguin · 10/11/2008 10:43

Thanks for the poo messages ladies, as it isn't every feed I assume he is ok just prone to being a bit runny. He is teething too so that is probably not helping. He is also still snotty but thanks to the vaporiser tip at least we are getting some sleep.

goingfor3 · 10/11/2008 11:06

LL So sorry to hear about your cat

Our dishwasher has power again as we changed the fuse but it doesn't know when to stop washing so isn't drying and we have to manually reset it and then leave it open for everything to dry but at least it's washing!

DD1 has a sickness bug so spent the night throwing up and is now resting on the sofa. DS spent mst of the night chewing my nipples and he's full of cold. Not a good night here!

On a positive note I found a really cute picture of DS on the M&S website here and all three had there photos doen for the agency this weekend and I can use some as christmas presents!
