Thanks for Welcome Deb and DingDongAli! Deb, Im not too good with sparkly names, all that comes to mind is, snowqueendeb. By the sounds of it you actually live in the snow! Not just make your name snowy like me! My DD is called Rose, and she is 5 months today!! Happy birthday her! Im due back at work the end of March, just tryin g to sort childcare at the moment, think Ive found a really good childminder. Any opinions/things to look for in a good childminder? I do ultimatly trust my own judgement, but would be keen to know what others thought? How are everyone elses babas doing with weaning? My Lo started with great gusto and now is not too keen

debinaustria · 02/12/2008 22:28

How about "OhComeAllYeFaithfulStayInOurApartments"

could get thrown off for blatant advertising though

mulledwhinegums · 02/12/2008 22:28

Deb, I can't think of a name for you! Penguin, yours is brill.

Good luck to your DH Deb. It is so competitive - DP and me have both worked in 'cultcha' from very early in our working lives, which I think is the way to do it. And network, network, network.

AH, have a good trip.

debinaustria · 02/12/2008 22:30

Fairy - go with your gut instinct, make sure you go to see her when she is working and see how the other children interact with her.The CM i Had for ds1 and ds2 aged 8 and 6 is now a really good friend and is coming on holiday here in February!

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 02/12/2008 22:42

What do you think of my name? thought I'd keep changing it to different foody things i miss at Christmas time!!

DingDongAlipalisOnAHigh · 03/12/2008 05:54

I like it Deb. What about "actuallyhavingawhitechrstmasinAustria"

Yes I am MNetting before 6am and have been awake since 4.30.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 03/12/2008 06:25

Nice name Alli - what a shame about your early start this morning! When Ethan woke at 3.00 I couldn't be bothered to sit up and feed him so I took him into bed but then he was so unsettled last night and has been awake on and off from 5.00. I'm up with boys now , getting Stefan to test me on his test we've been revising for. I'm so glad today is here as we've been working on all this stuff for a week. Way too much for an 8 year old.Really diverse subjects too - deer, foxes, woodpeckers, the compass, National Animal day and loads about Austria - counties, towns, rivers etc..

NoRoomAtThePenguin · 03/12/2008 08:31

Hi Fairy - what was your name when you were pregnant? Ggood luck with the weaning, still not started here but have been reading up on it and what you describe sounds quite normal. (Sorry if that sounded patronising, it wasn't meant to. Tiredness is either making me bhlunt or paranoid. O don't know which).

Like the name Deb - it can change throughout the year (Dreaming of creme eggs at Easter, Dreaming of Magnums in Summer, etc)

Sorry for your night DingDongAli. R was up at 5am, I was not impressed, however he is now fast asleep in my arms. Wish I could fall asleep on sofa but am too paranoid. Lots of concealer needed today.

I have a GP appointment for my hand today, but think I may mention PND too. My face started leaking about 6pm last night and hasn't really stopped since then. If it hadn't been for R, not sure I would have got up today at all....

Enjoy the snow Norhern ladies - tomorrow looks even colder and whiter.

pureedchesnutsonanopenfire · 03/12/2008 09:01

Morning all-

how much ice is there on the car this morning?!! I know this is probably nothing to the snow in Austria but I'm quite impressed with the wintery feeling. Hardly seems a year ago that we were looking forward to pregnant christmases. I have way more festive spirit this year. It bit me the day after my birthday and I am all giddy waiting for my tree to be delivered this morning.....sorry, rabbiting on rather when there are other things to focus on.

Penguin- send you big hugs. PND sucks. Really sucks. Drugs (can you tell I've taken mine already today) prevent my face from leaking. If they didn't I'd be a flood warning all by myself. One day at a time. And if you can't do that, then one hour at a time.

Sorry too to those of you who still aren't getting the sleep you richly deserve. Babyp has developed a recent habit of pooing at 2am which wakes her up so I have to change her and then get her back to sleep. I consider it retribution for her otherwise awesome sleeping ability. She has learned to throw too, which is bloody annoying. But I count my blessings.

Can I bring up another controversial topic (I refer my learned friends to the 'shaved undercarriage' question I asked when the size of the Goodyear Blimp)......is it too early to be trying again?

Big Wintery Cuddles to you all......currently waiting for prognosis on my television, which stopped producing sound last night. I feel like my arm has been cut off. How sad[wink

bitofasnowqueen · 03/12/2008 09:02

Morning all - it's very snowy here at the mo!

Loving all the christmas names. Have S on my knee, so posting anything else too much effort!

Neenztwinz · 03/12/2008 09:12

Ali I love your new name! Not sure if I can be bothered to think of one.. will have a think when I get in the shower.

Welcome Fairey - I recognise your name from the weaning threads. Expect to get short shrift from there if your DD is less than 6 months old. But ask any questons you want here (or on my puree thread on the weaning board!) - as long as you understand the reasons why the DoH says 6mths etc etc!!

Neenztwinz · 03/12/2008 09:26

I really shouldn;t go on the weaning boards - it winds me up too much

fairey's thread

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 09:31

Hi all, love the new names!

Penguin sorry to hear you're not feeling so good, do mention it to the doctor

Hi Fairy, welcome!

A woke up for a feed 5 times last night! I wonder if he's actually hungry each time or if it's just habit/comfort. I'm stubbornly refusing to wean because MIL keeps saying I should. Oh well, only 4 weeks left anyway.

Where is sponge?

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 09:36

neenz just read your reply on fairey's thread, very funny!

pureedchesnutsonanopenfire · 03/12/2008 09:56

'Baffled by the choices some people make'? SERIOUSLY? FFS, they are guidelines. Not laws. Can't even reply on thread Neenz as don't want to get kicked off mn!!!!

bitofasnowqueen · 03/12/2008 10:33

Penguin Do mention your hand to the docs and definitely the PND. Really sorry that you're feeling down.

Allnew have you tried giving water instead?

RE: the baffled comments. I am often baffled by the fact that people think it acceptable to be rude on MN all the time. There's no need. Respect other people's choices even if you don't agree with them FFS, it's not hard.

PiggyPenguin · 03/12/2008 10:40

Hi all, haven't been around as have had horrible cold, still getting better now.

Josey - I am so glad something is being done about your consultant, his behaviour was appalling and you are doing an excellent job.

Penguin, you should definitely discuss the -pnd with your gp. Even just acknowledging it will help.

I need a christmas name. Hmm, the fact that my nose is bright red after days after continually blowing it is giving some inspiration...

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 03/12/2008 10:42

just checking my new nicknames works...

bitofasnowqueen · 03/12/2008 10:44

ooh, like it sybil.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 03/12/2008 10:51

I am loving the christmas names, why don't they do christmas smileys like they do for halloween though? A few santa hatted ones would be ace!

goingfor3 · 03/12/2008 11:25

Josey Really cross about the treatment you got but it's great to hear you have such a supportive HV to help.

Can't think of any names as ds has spent the last two nights crying most of the night. He has a cold and can't breathe properly so keeps waking and is frustrated because he is so tired.

Puree Some people like small age gaps, if it feels right for you then it's not too soon and as we well know it's not always easy to plan gaps as we don't know what will happen along the way.

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 11:27

pureed - I'm broody but want to wait as we've got a really big holiday planned for dh's 50th in june and I'd liek to get back to work for a bit before going off iwth another... have relaxed a bit re the age gap thing as don't think there is any perfect age gap (a couple of friends have 5//6 years between their kids which has as many drawbacks as having 2 very little ones as far as I can see). So watch this space next year although I'm not expecting anything too qucik given my history (and am chuffed to have one).

Debs massive sympathy re 3am wake up - have had 2 of those (the trouble is with 3/4am wake ups is there is no real chance to get back to sleep again)

There should be christmas smileys [cgrin]

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 11:28

sorry just trying what worked last year...

hugs to penguin and puree for pnd... and welcome fairey.... neenz that thread is just a home for the dogmatic..

right off to hunt out some fights on aibu

bitofasnowqueen · 03/12/2008 11:46

campaign for the Christmas smileys!

bitofasnowqueen · 03/12/2008 11:47

Also, will echo allnew - Sponge where are you?
