on another note has anyone seen/heard stories about the lapland/santa theme park in dorset that is meant to be dire? Obviously very sad and disappointing for those that went esp as it wasn't cheap but I must be a very bad person as I was giggling abpout the descriptions this morning.. it was like something from viz

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 11:57

bdq I haven't tried water at night but that is mostly because I'm lazy (have him co-sleeping and feed him lying down). He is taking a lot of milk today as well though, like permanently cluster feeding

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 11:59

how old is he? might be growth spurt allnew... dh swears by water at night encouraging lo out of night feeds (used it on dsd) but if he is cluster feeding sounds more of a growth spurt

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 12:07

He was 5 months yesterday. It could well be a growth spurt. I'm now feeling a bit guilty about not weaning him - can't win!

Might try water later

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 12:09

I'm supposed to be going to a weaning party today at the surestart centre. Don't know if I can be bothered though, it's freezing outside and the roads look really slippy

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 12:09

so few days younger than edie.. she is qutie hungry and been more unsettled/waking at 3 but I've put the waking down to fact she has had slight tummy bug etc - maybe its a growth spurt. I have also delayed weaning but may start now but not til bug is finished.

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 12:12

I also wonder how much of the waking is down to the cold. It's falling to about 15 degrees in our room at night. Although I was assuming the body heat of sleeping next to me would help. Might try an extra layer on him tonight

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 12:15

that certainly has settled edie down in teh past but was hungry this morning ...

wonder weeks.. we're a bit early/late for a classic one so may be weaning /bug/cold related

That article is interesting. A seems to be focusing on moving around a lot at the minute - now likes to move across the whole room (backwards) when on his tummy, so maybe it is a development step, who knows

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 13:19

got limited but determined movement here (side to side rolling, some strange tom jones type hip thrusts and loads of kicking ) but definitely more aware and getting quite aware of who is who - including crying when we leave room/someone she doesnt know holds her

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 13:23

and two nanny cvs through.. which is soemthing

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 03/12/2008 13:30

Penguin - how did the Drs appointment go? What did they say about your PND?

Interesting article HollyIvyPoppy

I've done it, I've started weaning with my 2 willing helpers, will put photos on my profile next. Just tried baby rice today a few spoons and it was quite successful, no crying, or pushing it out of his mouth, but he was pretty determined to grab the spoon, so was much better when he had a toy in each hand!

Hello everyone else

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 13:31

thats inspiring re weaning deb... will try edie when her nappies are a bit less jackson pollock

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 03/12/2008 13:36

I love the idea of being inspiring -lol!!
Photos now on my profile - why are my old photos not there now I've changed my name?

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 03/12/2008 13:37

oh, I don't have a public profile - oops

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 03/12/2008 13:45

At last it's worked

jingleallnewjinglebells · 03/12/2008 14:01

debs very cute pics!

poppy I know what you mean about the crying when held by someone else. MIL arrived here yesterday when A was sleeping in his pram. A's routine is that he always has a feed as soon as he wakes up or else he screams the place down. So last night when he woke up, MIL picked him up from his pram. I said 'he'll need a feed'. She paid no notice, even when A was looking over at me and crying. I said a second time 'he wants a feed' and she ignored me. So then I went over and took him from her to feed him

hollyivypoppy34 · 03/12/2008 14:15

interesting all new.. have also found we get a different kind of crying now as knows what her bottle is so sort of shouts at it/if its pulled away.. its amusing if loud!

cute photos deb - think edie is a bit littler than all your los... she is not so good at sitting up by herself yet

DingDongAlipalisOnAHigh · 03/12/2008 14:41

We need a new thread but I am on my iPod and dont think I can copy and paste the link easily.

Welldone Ethan, looks like the whole family enjoyed it Deb. How was Stefans test? Presumably the boys are taught in German how do they find it? My Mum used to teach reception and had a French girl in one class who started with no English but was brilliant by the end of the year.

Puree: re broodiness, I think the June thread is allowed to be broody because I noticed the title for the Aug 08 ladies was something like "Aug 08, who has managed Aug 09?", I didn't read enough of the posts to find out if anyone has though!

After my early start, two dirty nappies, a sore bottom, a bit of wailing and a dose of calpol, Peter went back to sleep for 2 hours this morning. I ventured to my local tots group for the first time albeit an hour late. They were very nice and were making ceramic tree decorations, so a lady helped me paint Peters foot and make a print which was very cute! I finally made it to the HV for the first time in months. He now weighs 22lbs and is 69cm long at 24 weeks.

There are a few AWOLs:

It doesn't mention him competing since he was a child, so maybe that's why no pro partner. Wonder why though, he's an ace dancer (in my expert opinion)

hollyivypoppy34 · 14/12/2008 19:46

mulledwhinegums under your influence (and that of redwine) I've ordered a scootababy sling
