Mornig/afternoon all

LL - Yes i would complain too, having worked in customer services type work before I am often appalled by the treatment etc given, I have been known to stamp my foot now and then and ask to see or speak to manager on numerous occasions and dont take the comments to heart the guy is obviously a complete t*t trying to impress

Sponge - snap with waking times just as Fleur had got back to usual self at night She now has a cold!! So was up ALL night!

symphaties with those with 30 min napping ditto here. Ive just managed to make 8 dif type purees, put in washing, take out washing, hang it up, clean surfaces, put hoover round, tidy a cupboard and sit have cup of tea and chat on here!!! How you may ask fleur isnt here!!!! Cause im going back to work on MOn today and fri are trial runs for dp who will pick her up at 1pm

Well off to see if can spend valuble time alone causing a ruck somewhere on MN!!

Neenztwinz · 26/11/2008 12:39

Hegdehog, that sounds like bollox - weaning helping teething? Ridiculous!

Alli, it didn't sound stroppy at all! Poor you with high-maintenance baby. I could not cope with that - my two go to bed and are left to get on with it .

PP, yeah I bet that is what Esther thinks about Spice Girls! It's funny cos we went to spice girls concert when I was pregnant so maybe the songs remind her of the womb . Theo is always already asleep in the car!

LL, what a cheeky git! He was probably only 18 himself so has no idea how older people look at what age. Forget it, I can understand you being upset tho.

Good luck with the ruck Paro and enjoy your me time. I have some too this aft - I am going christmas shopping and granny is having the twins. Woo hoo!! I am so excited

aberdeenhiker · 26/11/2008 13:26

LL how horrible! how about we all send the spotty youth some bad vibes? Probably as effective as complaining honestly!

PiggyPenguin · 26/11/2008 13:41

LL - what a cheeky sod! Although upsetting I wouldn't complain as I agree that will prolong the upset and probably achieve little. Its a reflection on him, not you.

Argos are having a half price toy sale - just thought I'd mention it as have just managed to pick up a lego agent set for 20 quid rather than 40 and they are really popular!

bitofadramaqueen · 26/11/2008 15:48

Thanks Neenz and alipalli I reckon GF, Annabel Karmel and all have just basically changed their books to comply with the guidelines, but really expect people to start early with the purees anyway!

ali I think it was complete luck that S fell into a GF type routine, but unfortunately he rarely does the 2 hour nap thing Essie . Fingers crossed it comes with solids!

Neenz did you follow the GF routine for weaning? I'm thinking of following the AK meal planner but adapting it to GF feeding times.

Glad you feeling better Essie.

Dodgy nappies - Poppy S had this (if fact he still does to some extent) for a couple of weeks and HV and paeds doctor friend said virus.

Does anyone want to hear my theory about teething and nappies etc? After reading that views are mixed on whether nappy rash, poonami's, and teething are linked I've decided that its all about evolution. For human beings to eat they need teeth and for their bowels to work properly. So around the time they start teething their bowels are getting ready to process food, hence the interesting nappies. Lots of poos can cause nappy rash. Obviously at the same time they get better at sitting up etc, and developing all those other signs that they are ready to start needing food. Who needs government guidelines and BLW fanatics on Mumsnet (obviously not aimed at anyone on here who is BLW) to tell you when to start weaning when good old fashioned evolution has sorted it out .

LOL at the thought of just one biscuit PP. S is seriously starting to p*ss me off today. He won't nap at all. I've just put him down in his cot and he's screaming his head off (it's taken me about half an hour so far to do this post). It's early for his afternoon nap, but he's had about half an hour all day and he's seriously tired. He's developed this habit of falling asleep on me and I really need to encourage him to sleep in the cotbed for daytime naps again.

Ok, going to post this and try and settle him before catching up some more!

bitofadramaqueen · 26/11/2008 15:58

LL - I too would ignore him. Actually that's a lie because I would complain, but I think it's better to just ignore him. My cousin has also just become a gran at 40 (while I'm a first time mum at 35). He's clearly a bit of a loser.

Sponge sorry you had such a rough night!

Paro did you find a ruck?

S still screaming his head off . Everytime I pick him up he settles and starts to drop off, but as soon as I put him down he starts screaming. Not just whingy crying but full on screaming. Am trying to hold firm and will see if the Argos half price sale distracts me...

Amberc · 26/11/2008 16:39

LL - as long as those pics on your profile really are of your nan...

poppy34 · 26/11/2008 17:06

bdq htat is quite a good theory re nappies - I have less sophisticated one - teething = any old thing in the mouth= inevitable fact that they'll take in somethign that

thank god for baby einstein -valium in full effect now.. just got to do a mad scramble shortly as baby sitter here , dh not home til 7 and I need to get out the door at 6.30 to meet friend (who can't cancel on as already ahve once)...

bitofadramaqueen · 26/11/2008 17:25

S still crying... HAd to give up and pick him up in the end, so he's had a few catnaps in my arms but still wont settle on his own. Is it really bad of me to assume there must be something bothering him and give him a shot of calpol? DH sadly not in tonight to do bedtime

Looking forward to him getting some baby einstein dvd's at christmas poppy - am hoping that they'll help make the witching hour a bit easier...

poppy34 · 26/11/2008 17:29

they are just magic for that BDQ -crack em open early.. and i did exactly same when she wouldnt settle at midnight last ngiht (although didnt stop her projectile vomiting over me.. why do they take milk when they have a full tummy? )

spongebrainbigpants · 26/11/2008 17:33

PP, at being in good spirits - think I'm slightly hysterical with tiredness, but delirious is a good description!

Luckily mum and dad have been here this afternoon so I did get half an hour's kip but I've never been good at daytime sleeping .

Builders booked in to start work on dining room/conservatory next week - the other reason we haven't started weaning = we don't have a suitable room yet!! (Any old excuse eh?!)

katyjo · 26/11/2008 18:53

Hi all,

I've picked up this horrible sickness bug from Hamish, so been feeling a bit crap!

amber bdq i kind of roughly followed a gf routine with ds and a found it really good as a guide ie how much sleep they usually have etc but remember gf is a professional and not a mum, I can vaguely remember work and it is much easier than looking after your own children there is no guilt involved.

bdq If you think s needs some calpol, give him some, won't do him any harm. Mia was stuffed up and really suffering last night, I gave her some calpol and we both slept well!

ll I wouldn't take it to heart, I thought everyone over the age of 18 was ancient when I was a teenager. When I was a saturday girl about 17, I remember being horrified that one of the women I worked with still went clubbing, she was the pre-reg (trainee) pharmacist and was all of 21!! I think as you get older you get better at judging age, it was probably a nervous laughter you heard. Big hugs for you XX

Enjoy your me time neenz and Paro !

Hope you had a good swim whinegums we didn't make this week as I was sick and Mia had a cold, see you next week though!

bitofadramaqueen · 26/11/2008 19:08

Ah glad that day is over... Poppy sadly the baby einstein dvd isn't already in this house..

right off to make my own tea , do bottles, upload and edit about 2 months of photo's and update S's blog.

hedgehog1979 · 26/11/2008 19:35

well Isaac is now asleep with DH on the sofa so I can stop being a human bear - I don't mind if Isaac naps on me, it is lovely.

LL the guides were discussing our ages last night and their firs guess of my age was 42, they then reduced it when I told them I was born after 1975 to 35, they don't believe I am only 29

Sorry Isaac has just woken DH up so will have to go and rescue him

debinaustria · 26/11/2008 19:47

evening

LL - what a rude boy at Mc's! I hope you clouted him with your zimmer frame!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist but I must make a joke out of it - I am in my last month of my 30's - that is scary. In less than 1 month I will be 40, when's your birthday LL? I think I am officially the oldest here so I should be the Grandma if anyone should!!

Sleeping in the day, if we're at home for the day - if I wake Ethan up at 6.30/7.00 then by 10 he's ready for a sleep and will go down in his cot for 2 hours sometimes. If I leave him to sleep an extra hour , until 8 then he won't sleep until the afternoon and then only catnap. Today he put up a fight but I was painting and couldn't hear him v well , dh is better at ignoring him and he went off to sleep eventually! But this afternoon he was lying on his mat listening to dh play the piano and all of a sudden had crashed out - but only for 20 minutes.

Parofleurmapu · 26/11/2008 20:40

Evening all

Well not all good here in the prfmp household Fleur had good day at nursery and was absolutely fine with some sniffles.

But this pm at tea time she threw up her luch and last bottle, proper being sick not just the normal posseting. So we abandoned tea she did have her bottle at 7pm but is really really full of snot. Weve calpoled her up and put vicks type patch at end of bed, raised her bed etc and here is fingers crossed for the night

Think vomiting was due to being full of cold and not due to fish lunch or the dogÅ› illness who has a bacterial infection!

oh well we shall see will try fish later on in week again

Off to bed now to catch up on lost sleep from last night!!!

whinegums · 26/11/2008 20:51

Hi all, Katyjo, came on to post a message to you to see if you were ok when you weren't at Waterbabies yesterday - hope you all feel better soon. B yelled his face off for a lot of the lesson . Hope he starts to enjoy it more soon!

Feel like an underachiever when I read all the stuff some of you have been doing. I spent the afternoon getting my late birthday present - a couple of hours at the spa. Lovely - had a salt and oil scrub thing and then a hot stone massage. Equally enjoyed having an afternoon off from B while DP took over. Ahhh.

Can't think of anything else to post for now - brain a bit post rub down mushy!

Neenztwinz · 26/11/2008 20:53

Drama, love the nappy theory! I haven't got GF's book on weaning, I am just using my common sense . I just try to give a balanced meal of protein, complex carb and veg, and try to vary the foods as much as poss. Except breakfast where they just have fruit/babyrice. Have you given S some Calpol? Sounds like he needs it! You lot make me feel like a slummy mummy - I whip out the calpol/medised at the slightest hint of trouble! Although to be fair the DTs are pretty wonderful most of the time so if they are cranky I think there must be something wrong with them.

Paro, hope things improve for you!

libralady · 26/11/2008 21:33

Thanks for the sympathy guys. I was just so shocked!
Had a school governors meeting tonight so made sure I put some slap makeup on and I've booked in for a cut and hi-lights on Monday.
DH was shocked also when I told him. At least I know he loves me (even though it seems I no longer see him due to work pressures). Hopefully we'll be back together on Friday night at some point!

libralady · 26/11/2008 21:36

Oh and Debs, I'm 40 next October . Funnily enough though, I'm looking forward to it.

debinaustria · 26/11/2008 21:45

Paro - babies are often sick when they have colds as they swallow so much snot - hope baby Fleur's better soon.

LL - I'm not bothered about being 40 just weird not to be 30 something iykwim.

Oh no - moanings from the baby monitor, surely not at 10.44 pm?

Parofleurmapu · 27/11/2008 07:56

Morning

After serious screaming after trying to clear her nose at 8.00pm she slept til 2am, had a bottle and more nose clearing, then slept til 7.30am with 2 wakings at 4am and 5am. so not as bad I gave her calpol at 7pm and again at 2am.

Like neenz Fleur is such an easy quite baby normally that if she is out of sorts I know there is something wrong so bring out calpol.

I do have a question re colds though, Nasal aspirators i really struggle to use one on Fleur she hates it but then again so would I but is it really necessary? The only thing i suppose is that she is swallowing snot will this make her worse? Its just that it really doesnt seem to be working anyway and she is all croaky this am Bless!

Debs - yep think the vomiting was prob cause of snot!!

bitofadramaqueen · 27/11/2008 08:26

Morning all.

(Paro I've not tried nasal aspirators so no idea whether you should continue to use on, but have you tried Olbas oil? I've been putting a drop on a tissue in S's room at night and its done wonders to clear his runny nose.

S is driving me demented again, so much so feeling like a rubbish mummy for finding it hard to cope when he's not really that bad...

After yesterday's shenanigans, he was up twice in the night. Usually he just cries for his dummy and goes straight back to sleep but last night he just wouldn't go back to sleep. Ended up in bed with us, and then was up at 5.30. Have just put him down for a nap again as he's been up for 3 hours but he's screaming the place down. This is the start of day 3 of refusing to go down for a nap and wanting to be held all the time. My back is still knackered from childbirth and carrying him all day makes it worse. Another day like the last few and I would seriously rather go back to work.

Sorry for moan, am just feeling the constant neediness and crying difficult today.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 08:29

Morning guys, well Alex seems to be over the worst of his cold thankfully. Paro, I haven't bothered using the aspirator but mainly cos I don't have one!

Trying to resist printing a really rude response to some smug cow who's just posted on my feeding thread. I'm tired and could be misreading it but I get so sick of the fcking patronising smugness of some of the women on the bf thread who basically think that anyone who doesn't bf doesn't actually give a rat's arse what they feed their children. Stupid btch .
