AH - GREAT NEWS

Neenztwinz · 25/11/2008 13:19

Thanks Paro and G43 - isn't it sad that we might get slated for doing something that thousands of mums up and down the country do every day. We are feeding our babies purees not poison.

I am taking it upon myself to talk about purees as much as poss on the weaning board in the hope it encourages more people to post about it. They can't all be BLWing. I think people are scared to ask questions for fear of being told purees are wrong.

My twins had brocolli, sweet potato and haricot beans for lunch and loved it (and are sleeping soundly through their lunch nap )

goingfor3 · 25/11/2008 13:44

DS had rice pasta with cheese sauce, broccoli, sweetcorn and peas. He's also having a good nap!

Neenztwinz · 25/11/2008 13:58

Sounds yummy!

what have I done? he he

poppy34 · 25/11/2008 14:45

great news -ah.

I can't believe that no weaning ruck for neenz however you can go here for one link

essie glad thinks are getting sorted.

having home day today waiting for xmas deliveries, wrapping present etc.. only thing is edie very bad tempered (can't remember if it was you sponge who was saying that your lo was v.badtempered but can echo that here - she is so quick to kick off at the minute)

alipalli · 25/11/2008 14:57

Poppy, it might have been sponge with a grumpy Alex, but yesterday it was us too. Really miserable and not interested in doing much apart from wailing. Today however is different, Peter is sleepy today, so much so that we haven't made it to Bounce and Rhyme or swimming because he keeps on pushing the zzzs at the critical time for going out. Not to worry though, it is a major improvement on yesterday!

Expanding on my luck theme...

If baby sleeping patterns were a game show it would be Deal or no Deal (luck based), rather than the Krypton Factor (skilL based)...and the babies would be the Bankers!

poppy34 · 25/11/2008 14:59

yes - we've had random patterns of sleep in day now..that said she is now happy as anyting cooing at herself in the mirror on her mat -there is really no accounting for babies...

spongebrainbigpants · 25/11/2008 15:57

Neenz, love the puree thread! I intend to start with BLW cos I really am the world's worst cook . But if it doesn't work out then I have my AK book in reserve - and if I have to resort to cooking you'll be able to hear the swearing from where you live!!

(Btw, if you're wondering what A will eat I'm hoping to just be able to use whatever dh cooks in the evening topped up with finger foods in the day !).

I will slowly learn to cook over the next few months so that when dh goes away we don't both starve to death (and I don't have to feed A microwave meals which is what I eat when my resident chef is absent!) but I just want to tackle on thing at a time .

Can't remember whether it was me or not talking about grumpy babies - A is not often grumpy but he has his moments! He has been chatting all day today - maybe that forward facing buggy hasn't stunted his speech as much as I'd thought!!

Neenz - excellent thread and something I will get ideas from definitely as I'm panic stricken about weaning as Luke won't open his mouth for anything unless it's in a bottle or made of plastic! Some of those uideas are pretty gourmet - I don't know if I'd have the effort levels needed!

bitofadramaqueen · 25/11/2008 17:39

Evening all, just marking my spot. Will watch your thread with interest Neenz - are we about to see a militant paro take on the BLWers?

I really don't know how those of you with more than one child get on. I can't get anything done during the day when at home with S (apart from come on MN obviously).

ThePenguinProject · 25/11/2008 17:45

Neenz - Poor little Theo. Brave boy you've got there.

Paro - lol at nappy on dog. Remember when we were all pregnant? (So long ago). I considered practising nappy changing on my cat.

AHiker - Congrats on the house, that's great! Fingers crossed for you to be in by Xmas.

Damn it - R just woken up. I haven't finished reading this thread let alone had a chance to check out the one Neenz and Paro are on. I will be back.

Essie3 · 25/11/2008 17:46

Hi all!
Read the thread and will post when I'm a bit more with it. Thanks, Neenz! Just briefly - I'm not doing BLW, because my health visitor isn't into it and so it's purees. But I of course have horns and a tail because not only am I doing purees, I'm also stocking up on......jars. From a shop. All processed and everything. Jam packed with poison.

Aberdeen congratulations on the house!

And again thanks for all the support! Today the tooth has calmed down considerably and I'm no longer Desperate Dan (just a tad more puffy but yay, fewer wrinkles that way!). Still praying for that full recovery, 2 tabs left...
The back is still hurting, but saw an Osteo, had treatment, will see her again Thursday, and it's not as bad as it was. She says it will be ok by the end of the week.

DH in a v. bad mood because he's overworked (but I'm not fully sympathetic because he wastes so much time!) but Iestyn slept well last night. After calpol. Ali we had an identical night!

He has developed a rashy bum though - I mean a spotty rash on the bum cheeks rather than a red crack (!!! sorry but how else do people describe this?). My Mum - not a medical expert - wondered whether the antibiotics caused this.

ThePenguinProject · 25/11/2008 17:49

BLW, what to eat etc. Ryder was nibbling (aka biting) a cushion (aka a pillow) today...

Off to check out the weaning threads but not sure how militant I'll be as I'm waiting until nearly 6 months because I'm lazy. Only starting just before 6 months so that I get to see the first few go's before I go back to work. I'm also planning on initially trying BLW, again simply because I'm a lazy moo!

aberdeenhiker · 25/11/2008 18:04

Thanks everyone!

Neenz yes, we're premier customers because of DH's business - fat lot of attention is gotten us this time though! However, I've finally got through to the telephone mortgage centre and I think it's all okay. We're on the same rate as you for our old mortgage which we can port across to the new one, but for the extra money we have to go on to a fixed rate as you have to have a 40% deposit to get their current tracker (which is .99% above so not as good as we had anyways). It's not too bad for us as over half is on the old rate and we can switch in two years.

Essie - glad things are a bit better! Antibiotics gave my DS1 a really horrible nappy rash so I hope Iestyn is okay! It shouldn't be as bad since they are filtered through you rather than direct I hope...

Amberc I've got Fraser taking food off a spoon by licking it - he wont let me put it in his mouth but loves it when I hold it up to his lips. Have you tried that with Luke? You probably have though.

aberdeenhiker · 25/11/2008 18:14

Neenz have jumped into the fuss on your thread (while also begging for dairy-free recipes)! It's fun to rile them all up isn't it?

poppy34 · 25/11/2008 18:27

aberdeen am amazed re your premier service - the pain we've had with them.

is it all kicking off on neenz thread? might go and have a look then

Parofleurmapu · 25/11/2008 18:29

Well ive certainly jumped right in it!!!! Hehe going to join militant PP and Poppy

Had answer from LLM bout waiting but it was all very wishywashy, Fleur demanding attention so couldnt really post or think a good quip back so just said thanks will wait til bedtiome to find somewhere to have a good go at later!!! Hehe

poppy34 · 25/11/2008 18:32

it certainly is (although it has answered my question re the issues re waiting - I am concerned that we may end up going the otehr way and weaning late and frankly the idea that I've read of then having to rush through various purees so you can get up to 3 meals a day , meat etc strikes me as bloody stupid)

PiggyPenguin · 25/11/2008 18:59

Poppy I wouldn't worry about late weaning. It took dd months to take food properly, she didn't eat three proper months until about 9 months.

AH - congratulations on the house, and getting the mortgage sorted so promptly!

bitofadramaqueen · 25/11/2008 19:02

MArking my spot before going to check the weaning thread again...

Essie - might be worth posting about Iestyn's bum on the nappy topic. As you know yourself, lots of bum experts on there!

Paro - I've emailed you my address re the pots, let me know if you get it.

ThePenguinProject · 25/11/2008 19:12

Looks like I did find something to say about weaning afterall...

Off out now. I expect the weaning site to have well and truely kicked off when I get back.

PiggyPenguin · 25/11/2008 19:22

three proper meals - not three proper months! Chuh, must preview!

poppy34 · 25/11/2008 19:43

thanks sybil -am playing it by ear really.. but glad to knwo that as in so many other things the books talk shite!

Amberc · 25/11/2008 20:05

Am sick of weaning books now as I've read the Gina Ford one (why oh why???) and now am in a panic! My major panic is now I will be off to work full time how do I feed the baby when I get home as it'll be late - later than his usual bathtime. Maybe he'll just have to go to bed later - 8 instead of 7 or something. Hmm.

aberdeenhiker · 25/11/2008 20:38

sybil thanks - wouldn't say we've the mortgage sorted but at least it's started! We still have to prove our income etc. poppy have you had trouble with HSBC? I had been impressed (compared to endless problems with bank of scotland) but am not so thrilled now. It took me over three hours on the phone to talk to someone who could actually help.

amberc, I wouldn't worry too much about the meal after nursery. If Luke is fed at 4:30 at nursery, you should be able to just give him a good milk feed (assuming he'll take it) before bed. Three meals a day is enough, especially while we can still stuff them with milk! It gets harder when they need to get more of their calories from food.
