Essie - awwww!!!! Perhaps Iestyn had eaten a Sophie (see earlier post about Luke smelling of condoms) .

Poppy - thanks for the Baby Einstein rundown - I might get Santa to get him some for Xmas.

systemsaddict · 13/11/2008 21:14

hi guys! just having a lurk to see how everyone's doing, thought I'd say hi.

Must apologise for disappearing completely without explanation for a few months. Ds was poorly in September, was in hospital for a week with tonsillitis, all better now but for quite a while everything went a bit pear-shaped, and then computer started to give up the ghost so I didn't get the chance to post.

All is quite full-on most of the time here, as Caitlin gets bigger and Liam hits toddler tantrum stage at the same time, but I am back at work next week so may be able to check in a bit more often!

Good to read how people are getting on with food, we've not started solids yet but C tried to wrestle pizza off me this evening so I'm not sure we'll hold out till 6 months ...

alipalli · 13/11/2008 21:30

hi systemsaddict. I did miss you as DH (James) liked your nickname because of his soft spot for 5 star! Good to hear that things are on more of an even keep now.

Thanks for the get well messages. About to turn out light and get some shuteye.

poppy34 · 13/11/2008 21:32

hi systems

alipalli -5star,,now that takes me back

watching rich kid, poor kid...

systemsaddict · 13/11/2008 21:35

we only managed 30 seconds of rich kid, poor kid, dp threatened to climb into the TV and slaughter the rich one so we have had to give up!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/11/2008 22:04

She was awful the rich kid.

Poppy - i really need to meet you as we have so much in common.

katyjo · 13/11/2008 23:41

Poppy Sorry that you were getting really stupid advice on that thread, I don't know why some people think that basic advice is suddenly going to solve all your problems. I kept telling people that I had fed ds for a year when I was having trouble with Mia but I still kept getting daft advice like 'nose to nipple' etc.

Whinegums Glad you heard good things about waterbabbies, I'm really looking forward to it, although I'm a bit nervous! Hope to see you there (I'll be that hefer in my really unflattering costume!)

Laura I bought apples and carrots today, since the cake incident she has been a bit restless, so I thought I better start weaning, I really hope she hasn't developed a taste for M&S cake!

Essie The photo is gorgeous

Systemsaddict Welcome back, good luck going back to work next week.

pureeandpearls · 14/11/2008 07:39

Morning all- busy day today. Bounce and Rhyme at our local library followed by lunch with NCT friend then tonight I am hosting a tupperware party. Now I know I'm middle-aged!! My excuse is that as babypearls gets bigger I'll need more containers for her food.

alipalli · 14/11/2008 07:42

Gosh, I feel so much better this morning. DH said I looked pink today rather than gray.

Essie just checked your new picture, it is so sweet. Where did you get the wings from though? Looking back at your pg photos I like to imagine the one in front of the balustrade is you surveying your country estate.

debinaustria · 14/11/2008 08:15

poppy - i couldn't find your thread but i am also suffering with blocked ducts today, temp in the night, feeling queasy etc etc..how are you

tupperware puree

alli and others hope you feel better soon

sa - welcome back and good luck at work.

essie - love the photo

PiggyPenguin · 14/11/2008 09:05

Sorry you are feeling rough Deb, if it gets worse make sure you get the antiobiotics asap, it is the only thing that will help.

Essie, that is the cutest photo! Dh and dm keep moaning at me because I coo to Jamie - 'who's the pretty boy?' and they both shout 'handsome, not pretty, handsome!' at me. Then yesterday when having lunch in cafe rouge Jamie was flirting with the couple on the table behind us. He was wearing his halloween outfit which is asexual, basically a red velour sleepsuit with 'I'm a little devil' written on it (so appropriate...) and when we were leaving the woman said to us - ah she is so pretty! We just smiled and left and then I spent the whole trip home going, see, told you he was pretty!

pleasechange · 14/11/2008 09:12

essie love the photo

debs sorry to hear you're feeling poorly

welcome back systemsaddict!

MIL told DH yesterday we should wean early as current advice is to wean early for big babies. I really do not think A is big! He was 8lb9oz at birth which isn't huge to start with, but has since fallen to under 50th centile anyway. Grrr that has made me more determined to wait

hedgehog1979 · 14/11/2008 09:55

morning all,

Grr at MIL telling you to wean allnew my FIL GF gave me the same advice.

essie that pic is vvv cute, I am melting, but not as much as for my baby who is currently wearing a little stinker body suit, with a skunk on and chewing a penguin comforter.

deb no advice, but will send some cake and cream teas your way to make you feel better

sa sorry things have been so bad for you. Hope things will start to pick up soon

ummmm nothing else here to report really, but have noticed that the sun has come out so must move nappy airer outside to make the most of it

debinaustria · 14/11/2008 10:04

shoes arrived today from snuggle feet -v quick service. they're not quite as soft as daisy roots but at £5 cheaper they are great bargain.

debinaustria · 14/11/2008 10:05

thanks for the get well wishes, and the virtual cake and cream tea hh

alipalli · 14/11/2008 10:09

Sympathies Deb.

allnew at your MILs weaning advice. My PILs are lovely but have made throwaway remarks about how P is such a big baby to be "surviving" on BM alone. I really don't like the implication that I am short changing him.

Parofleurmapu · 14/11/2008 10:37

morning

all ok here have been lurking as the prfmp household all seem to have some ailment Me, i have severe period pains (anyone elses come back even worse then you ever suffered b4 pg) and flu.
DP (paul) has a man cold and flu and fleur has fever, still ear pulling and chomping seeing dr just make sure all ok

oh and also dp bought me an ipod to cheer me up and say thank you for doing a fab job!! aaaah bless So been playing on that

big hellos and hugs to you all i have skimmed posts will catch up when all is settled!!

hedgehog1979 · 14/11/2008 10:44

AGH Isaac has worked out that if he pulls the flower on his playgym it plays 'twinkle twinkle little star'

he has now been doing it for 25 minutes - we must go to Tesco and take him away from it!!

[cackle] [cackle] [evil mummy]

Amberc · 14/11/2008 12:24

Allnew - not heard about any guidleines for weaning big babies early!! Another made up piece of in-law wisdom me thinks. Anyway, what constitutes big?

Not too bad a night here. On day two of not propping Luke up to sleep on his side. Clearly when I said he couldn't roll I was talking rot as he can perfectly well just as long as he's asleep as I woke up twice and he was face down both times after being put in on his back. So now the new comfy sleeping position is on his tummy which is worse right? Would you be worried? He can't roll back again (not that I know anyway)

hedgehog1979 · 14/11/2008 12:35

amber I think you have to make the judgement call as his mummy/mum/mama.

Back from Tesco now and have walked Isaac to sleep as he is asleep in the pushchair in the porch.

Think I have felt the beginnings of a tooth as he was quite happily gnawing away on my finger and there was definitely something hard there, although now he won't open his mouth for me to have a look [typical]

goingfor3 · 14/11/2008 14:16

Hello all,

I'm getting really worried about my dd1. She has been ill for nearly a week and is still not eating properly, has sore hips, had a nose bleed and she keeps falling asleep. She is not a sickly child but this is third time she has been ill since going back to school in september - last school year she only had one day off and that was due to conjuntivitis! The gp's going to call me. It's just a constant round of worry

ThePenguinProject · 14/11/2008 14:21

Bit of a rubbish night here with a noisy baby. He did let me sleep in though and I have been promised a lie in tomorrow. (Promised by DH, Shane, that it, not by Ryder)

Shane and Ryder are having some time out of the house just the two of them tomorrow. It means I get a break, yay! But I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. Any ideas? I think I may do some pampering, face mask, nail polish whilst reading a real book.

Ali - So sorry you got the bug.

Essie - Wonderful, wonderful picture. I love that he looks so laid back and chilled, like a noncholant(sp) angel!

P&P - Tupperware party! They still do them? At least you can get lots of weaning containers. I'm off to a 'beauty' partly tonight, I'm sure someone will attempt to sell stuff to us, but we're all gonna be so excited to be baby free they'll have to talk loudly!

Amber - Ryder often sleeps on his front now. I don't like it either (and turn him over if I'm sure he won't wake up). Bizarrely he now seems to have completely forgotten how to roll from his front to his back.

HH - Ryder has a cot toy that sings french songs - he loves it, I hate it. And he's learnt to press the buttons, arrgghh!

fungle · 14/11/2008 14:38

G for 3, I hope your DD1 is ok. Its so worrying especially as she is normally healthy. My dd is normally super healthy so I always really worry if anything is wrong.
All those others suffering with ilness, big virtual hugs (................................) It sucks being ill, but is 10 times worse with a baby to look after
Isla has had a couple of crap sleeping nights. Last night woke at 10.30, 1, 4 and 6. DD1 woke at 9 doing a wee. This is so unlike her, she has wet the bed once since out of nappies. I think school is bothering her. Anyone else with older ones have any probs when they started school?
Despite my tirdness, me and DP are going out tonighthave had bestfreind booked to babysit for ages. Nothing special, just going for some drinks. Went to town this morning and bought new jeans and a couple of lovely new cardis from Gap(had 30%off voucher, hence 2!)just need to decide which one to wear now. Off to pick dd up from school then try and fit in a bath before dinner time/bedtime begins....Be back tomorrow, more than likely hungover. My hangovers have deffinatly got a LOT worse since giving birth.
Oh and someone asked about periods. I had my first one 2 weeks ago (17weeks after birth, 11 weeks after stopping BFing) not too bad, but am feeling ovulation pains now which i never did before(was very irregular before)
Anyway, bye for now!

systemsaddict · 14/11/2008 16:31

Thanks for the welcomes back everyone, v. nice to feel I belong!!

sybil when I collected ds from nursery yesterday I found him in a purple fairy dress, tutu and all ... his dad was appalled but apparently all the boys in the class are wearing them at the moment!!

Breakthrough today: I got 2 oz of milk down Caitlin from a cup. No spout, nothing, just a plastic cup; with every evidence of enjoyment on her part. So the terrible bottles battle we have been having may be solved ... not before I spent £25 on bizarre shaped bottles on ebay this morning though, we have been trying everything to get her to take a bottle as she starts nursery next week. Anyone need a breastbottle? [sigh]

systemsaddict · 14/11/2008 16:35

question: does eating big brother's A4 scribbling paper while Mummy is on Mumsnet count as starting solids? [off to fish around in Caitlin's mouth for white shreds]
