Hiya Essie Sorry bout your false alarms, they do breathe so quietly and hardly moving at times dont they!

And re labels have a look if you have any qs just ask!!

Which page is not loading?

Amberc · 13/11/2008 12:11

Blimey - so many posts I can't remember anything but green poos and mess making lawyers!

P&P - Sophie arrived this morning so am taking it to nirsery to pick up Luke - I'm so excited!! (Sophie La Giraffe - kept Luke quiet when he was at his grumpiest as he munched it for ages - it's fab!)

Essie - your posts always crack me up and yes I am an advocate of real name usage as I never call Mark a 'partner' and he's not always darling either!! I daren't ask what the rubber smell was about!

PP - Tumble dryer love - if only it could reciprocate...x

So no-one has a good female version of willy/winkie then? When I was little we always called it a Maltese name Pachucha (that's how it sounded anyway). We needed a name as we were two sisters.

I also am still wean free at almost 22 weeks. He does drink a lot of milk though so I think we are getting there. Tried him on Heinz Nurture and you get 250 ml in a carton instead of 200ml for the same price and he liked it.

Anyone tried that baby dilute drink for 4 months plus? I bought some but not tried yet.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/11/2008 12:22

Poonani.

pureeandpearls · 13/11/2008 13:04

God- it's going to take me ages to catch up to you all, so after reading back for four pages, herew are the bits I remember:

Nightmare bus journey- glad we are driving when we go to Chester next weekend for a wedding. Have to drive as I've got to take SO MUCH stuff with us now babypearls is into food.

Babygym- babyp went off hers for a while but took it away and now she likes it again. Not so keen on lying down otherwise which is pretty annoying as she can't sit unaided. She doesn't roll either but will stay on her tummy for quite a while.

She's currently in the bebepod watching Santa Baby Einstein and shouting at her Sophie. Hope they do the trick for Luke Amber

Oh, and we always called it a willy in our house (2 brothers) but my mum referred to undercarriages generally as 'groovy bits' a phrase which I appear (to my shame) to have adopted.

I am a Mamma. No idea why. And it's not like babyp has chosen it...

Was also going to say to anyone who might still be interested in the merino wool sleeping bags (or zippy bags as they are called in the Pearl house) they are on offer here and are well worth the money.

pureeandpearls · 13/11/2008 13:05

Sorry if I missed anything or anyone....don't take it personally x

whinegums · 13/11/2008 13:14

Katyjo, love Mia eating cake! I have high hopes for Waterbabies too, I was in two minds as it's so expensive, but I was convinced by a friend whose son loves it.

BDQ - I haven't got much weaning stuff - I already have a stick blender, and a sieve for fibrous fruit and veg. Might shell out for some extra ice cube trays. I bought a pack of lidded pots, and I got a bargainous Annabel K set from Tesco, in the clearance section with 75% off. Glad I got some big bibs though, we had carrot today, and it was everywhere! I've decided to get a box of organic fruit and veg delivered every week; thought it was better to spend money on what goes in rather than yet more 'stuff' to clutter up my kitchen.

Horrid rainy day today, so we're not going anywhere. Might try and catch up with Heroes, I've got 3 episodes to watch.

poppy34 · 13/11/2008 14:42

hi all - quick post as being a bed ..puree snap = baby einstein and sophie big hit here - hope luke likes his sophie too amber paro thanks for support - I hardly dare check now for what bollox/platitudes new posts are there..should have resisted but get sick of reading ring la leche, get latch right etc etc.. like somehow it is that simple and like you've got the energy to persist when you feel like death warmed up with a wailing baby... or am I just a wimp ?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/11/2008 15:36

OK trying to catch up here, What is a sophie?

Like the new toy Debs, cheap and cheerful. we bought this for S about 3 months ago and he really enjoys it, has been the best gym and turns into a walker.here and really impressed with their wooden toys which I like getting rather than plastic ones.

S tummy seems to have settled but has started vomiting again so we are now on smaller and more frequent feeds and if that doesn't help then Doc will refer us to paeds but will phone him on Monday as off on Thursday.

And typical of DD, we have a photographer coming tomorrow to get photos of the 2 of them for christmas pressies and DD got a black eye at nursery, tripped over and bashed her eye on table. Oh well!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/11/2008 15:37

And taking advantage of DH being at home have made chocolate bread and butter pudding to go with beef stew for friends on Saturday and chocolate creme brulees for lunch on Sunday.

alipalli · 13/11/2008 15:39

No Poppy, you are not a wimp.

I possibly am a wimp though as I am typing from the comfort of my bed. I have got the vomming bug too. Only been sick once but I feel so achey. DH came home at lunchtime to look after us, but is v busy with work so is on conference calls. Still it's better with someone to look after me. I have even let some formula into the house in case bf gets too much! Peter seems to have got the idea that I am no fun today and has slept more than normal, just hope he isn't I'll too.

I finally caught up on the old thread only to find 9 pages on the new one! I like catching up though as you get more of a narrative.

Amberc · 13/11/2008 16:44

Five - A sophie is Sophie La Giraffe a rubber toys for munching on or general /pulling throwing about. Luke does like it but he now smells like a condom. PS - dinner sounds yumbo!!

Ali - get well soon love - poor thing!

I haven't got a baby einstein DVD - should I? Will there be anything on it which isn't on the baby channel/baby first?

Five those toys are lovely

Amberc · 13/11/2008 16:45

PS Munching on my first chestnuts of the year - are they fattening?

pleasechange · 13/11/2008 16:45

Hi all - sorry to hear you're feeling bad alipalli

I've now also been invited to a weaning party, in a few weeks. Wonder what they do at one of those?

Sleep getting no better here - hourly wakeups again from 2am. I wake up in the morning feeling like an old woman (new flannalette pj's probably not helping there!)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/11/2008 16:46

The baby eintsein dvd's are great, DD has watched them so often that hers are broken but my parents are giving S some for christmas, I don't know what is on the baby channels as we don't have Sky so for us they are really useful.

Amberc · 13/11/2008 16:48

PPS - Oh wow - just looked it up and chestnuts are to nuts what philadelphia extra light is to cheese - hurrah - am going to make more!!!

pleasechange · 13/11/2008 16:52

Hmmm -chestnuts

I've got A a Sophie for xmas - tempted to give him it early now!

I don't have sky so not sure what the programmes are like. I've got a boxset of the baby einstein dvd's and only watched a handfull so far. I think what A likes about them is the repetition, bright colours and music - kind of hypnotic, even to an adult!

Amberc · 13/11/2008 16:57

I need to find someone to lend me a Baby Einstein DVD before I buy any. I have so much stuff gatherine dust now! Got a blu ray player now - I wonder if they some in blu ray. Been watching Planet Earth on it and it is magnificent. Luke doesn't care about it though - too much at night!

pureeandpearls · 13/11/2008 16:59

Sophie the wonder giraffe

aberdeenhiker · 13/11/2008 18:20

I'm so behind! We're so chatty on this thread.

We put in a (low) offer on a house today as it looks like our sale is probably going through. Fingers crossed.... Fraser is really not enjoying house shopping, too much time in the car! (I feel very lucky we live somewhere that housing is relatively affordable).

poppy - you're not a wimp, don't return to that thread since they're clearly heartless loonies!

ali - I had the vomiting bug here too. I was only sick once but it was a very long day as DH (Cory) had to go to work for important meetings. Unfair that I couldn't schedule my sickness on one of his quieter days so he could stay home! (though he's a contractor so he hates taking days off for things like that, it's too easy to see the money that we lose).

PiggyPenguin · 13/11/2008 18:35

Huge sympathies to everyone suffering from the vomiting bugs, you poor souls. I had really bad sickness when bfeeding dd and it was awful. Dh literally had to hold the bucket to one side of me so I could throw up while feeding. She was very little at the time so didn't really notice or care, I certainly couldn't do that with Jamie.

Oh, have to go but will be back to finish post later...

Essie3 · 13/11/2008 20:05

I didn't know what a sophie was either but I suppose it was more in your interest to ask about that, 5gomad! Your pudding sounds lovely - will you share the recipe?

I've also been taking photos for a Christmas card. Check out my new picture of Iestyn. You'll all melt with love for him. (OK, maybe that's expecting too much - but I'm a gooey mess!)

Rubber smell - never worked out what it was. But Iestyn had been sick on the playgym.

Essie3 · 13/11/2008 20:05

Sorry, had to add - I normally try to be objective about Iestyn, but that cherub photo...

Enough raving!

poppy34 · 13/11/2008 20:09

amber think (at moment) baby einstein on balance better than babytv for edie as the hit rate of things that are up her street much higher (basically its toys, things that catch their eye, puppets, music, noises). I've got a few and imho the better ones are baby beethoven/mozart (you don't need both althoguh they are in the box set as they are near as dammit the same with different music), baby van gogh (it says 9 months but its puppets and art and is defo a smile raiser every time), baby santa (self explanatory but so cute -and sparkly decorations are a hit), baby neighbourfriends (animals arund place -this is really qutie a hit and generates almost as much shouting as sophie does), baby noah (its aimed at older kids but has animal pictures on it - no puppets though so not qutie as much a hit as otehrs)

ones that are not such a hit are baby neptune (for some reason just doesnt have the same appeal), baby language nursery (nursery rhymes in differnet languages - I think relying on vocies that aren't mum/dad/someone in the room) is not something she is keen on.

blush re my knowledge

alipalli/aberdeenhiker hope you feel better soon...same for S 5gomad (and did you hear the archers today?)

and generally more sucesful day as avoided weaning

poppy34 · 13/11/2008 20:11

aww essie -that is your card photo ?? cute

pureeandpearls · 13/11/2008 20:31
