Thank you Dooby and Runny xxxx

Always good to hear positive chemo cases.

Had a really lovey time with my Dad and brother. They both seem on good form; particularly Dad who had thought the news was going to be much worse.

Anyway, now have 3 dc asleep upstairs, so going to go to bed shortly in case any 1 of them wakes up! K has already been coughing and woken herself up and has had a dose of Medised- she hates the stuff!

So, I thank you again lovely ladies for your support, and will see you tomorrow. xx

Maveta · 07/11/2008 06:39

morning all

SOL i am so sorry to hear your news. i hope the treatment goes smoothly. i am not sure of the background as i´ve been away so long, is this the first ocurrence for your mum or have you all been through this before?

Dh´s mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and after a year or so of various chemo/surgery/radio she was clear and has continued to be. My Dad had leukaemia 14 years ago can´t believe it was so long ago. His was really bad and it took a bit longer to go into remission but he´s been in remission now for almost 10 years I think.

It IS hard, some people handle it miles better than others, but you do what you have to, right? And you are right that they are improving the treatments all the time. You just have to stay positive even when it´s hard (and ESP. when the person themselves is quite the opposite!)

i´m really not sure if all of that actually helps or makes things worse, I hope not the latter. I will be thinking of you x

Bramshott · 07/11/2008 09:45

Thanks for keeping us up to date SOL. That must be so hard for all of you . Glad you're all hanging in there together.

CaptainDippy · 07/11/2008 11:06

My computer is playing silly buggers today, so popping in briefly while I can - hello!

How are you doing this am SOL?

Sexonlegs · 07/11/2008 11:07

Morning

Maveta, lovely to see you, and I am sorry you too have been through the nightmare of ill parents.

FYI, it is all quite new. Mum went to A&E with abdo pain just under 3 weeks ago, and they admitted her and she had emergency surgery to remove 20 cm of bowel which had a cancerous tumour in.

So, all quite sudden and shocking. But treatable and not the end.

So, remaining positive, and looking forward to seeing her this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well. xx

PillockOfTheCommunity · 07/11/2008 11:09

Glad to hear you keeping upbeat SOL

And you know we're more than happy to be here for you x

Not at work today, have cancelled day off Monday and taken today instead.

Morning! I slept from 12pm (when Dh came to bed and woke me up) til 6am (when P woek me up) - 6 hours sleep in a row - not something I have had for quite some time!

My mum is a bowel cancer survivor btw SOL - she was diagnosed at 26 and has quite a lot of operations etc; but is still here She currently has a permenant illeostomy and is very happy to share her experiences etc if you think this might be something you or your mum would find helpful either now or in the future ... let me know She has had a very full and active life -she went on to get married and give birth to me after the op's etc

Mad day here, took DD2 to a Treasure Island themed party - she looked great in her pirate costume Been a quiet day apart from that, just pottering and colouring etc ....

runnyhabbit · 08/11/2008 17:49

Evening all

Omg Oooggs - where has the time gone Hope the builders don't give you too much grief, and behave themselves

W is v poorly atm. High temp, v restless, not sleeping properly etc. He's drinking lots though, and temp does come down after he's had ibruprofen(sp) and calpol, so just hoping its a nasty virus.

Dippy - I envy 6 hours of straight sleep...I've forgotten what thats like...

Dh is cooking chilli con carne for tea - smells lush.

sorry pillock, used m´s real name by mistake. Have asked for the post to be deleted so c+p below the amended version..

Evening ladies! painfully slow internet connection here..

SOL, sending you a big squeeze x

Runny, hope W feels better soon.

Pillock, what have I missed re. M? Just saw your facebook status..

If anyone from here has sent me a friend request that i haven´t accepted, make yourself known! as I´ve had one pending for ages, I can´t figure out who on earth it is!

JellySnakes · 08/11/2008 22:58

Hi ladies. I haven't been around for a while. Got back from hols a couple of weeks ago, then got a chest infection, then F got a chest infection, then ds got an ear infection. It has been like antibiotic city in my house lately.

POTC, I am really sorry I missed our meet up Not sure what is going on with M, but hope he is ok.

I haven't read much at all but noticed SOL's post about your mum. Glad the surgery went well, hope she is feeling ok and that you are doing ok too xx

And oooggs, I can't believe you only have 11 weeks left! I think I must have lost a few weeks somewhere! I guess that means Elkie's due date draws ever nearer too

So what has been happening then? What did Hensden have? Last time I was on she had posted that she was in labour!

My neighbour (who has a baby of 2 months old) has just announced that she is pregnant again. She is a little shocked to say the least. She had planned another baby, but not so soon after the first!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok. I will try to pop back in sooner rather than later as I miss my chats with you all! Take care ladies xxx

StealthPolarBANG · 09/11/2008 10:23
