Morning all.

Eddas, wise words indeed. I just think poor dh doesn't know what to say/do, so will follow your advice. I don't want to end up shouting at the poor bloke as he has been wonderful.

Runny, fab news re your job being safe.

Ikwym re being "hindered" by the dc re work. I applied for and was offered an interview for a great job 2 weeks ago; the salary was a third more than my hourly rate. But the hours were that I would need to re-think the whole childcare thing. Hey ho. Not the right time really.

Hi Elkie. How is your cat?

Have a good day all.xx

liath · 06/11/2008 08:15

Morning!

Runny, that's great news about your job.

SOL, hope the meeting goes well with the surgeon. It might be worth your dad taking a list of questions - there's nothing worse than suddenly remembering you meant to ask x,y or z after the consultant has gone!!

I'm not going to be around much - am off tomorrow for a week away with my parents, sister, BIL and nephews. Need to spend today packing then a friend is coming over to ask my advice about weaning her 4 month old - not sure what to say to her TBH, I waited to the magic 6 months with ds but the evidence for that isn't all that great despite what people post on the weaning threads. She's having a really tough time & the baby is constantly hungry.

Don't forget - Highland Emergency, channel 5 next tuesday!!

geordieminx · 06/11/2008 08:26

Liath - I sky +'d it weeks ago!!

Maveta · 06/11/2008 08:35

Hello all! love the thread title SPB, made me esp. after the morning I just had with Noah [sigh]

I'm finally on part time hours! yay! which of course means spending much of my employer's time on t'internet

my mn activity has increased slightly lately and as always I felt a bit bashful about keeping coming in, saying hi and making promises to stick around and then disappearing.

Then I realised that was silly... so, I really do hope to be around a bit more (during work hours at least )

Can anyone fill me in on important happenings I've missed?

liath · 06/11/2008 09:09

Lovely to see you, Maveta! Was just wondering how you were the other day.

CaptainDippy · 06/11/2008 10:57

Haven't caught up yet (although I did see Maveta had been on - hi ) I am in a dilemma - pre-school have just called me to ask if I can pick DD2 up - P is asleep and I can't find anyone to sit in with her - what do I do!!? Pre-school want me to pick her up because she is tired

Bramshott · 06/11/2008 11:19

I'm afraid I would say no to the pre-school Dippy (but then I am an arsey cow !). If she's just tired, they will have to keep her if it's not convenient for you to wake P and rush over there. If you go as soon as P wakes, would that still be early, or is that the time S would come home anyway?

Bramshott · 06/11/2008 11:24

Right, read the rest now .

Liath - I was wondering when that was on. Can you give us a clue as to which one your DH is?

Glad to hear that your DB is going with your dad tomorrow SOL. I agree with Liath that a list of questions is always good in these scenarios.

Hi Maveta!

Oh bollocks - it was 10.30 a minute ago and I was just going to pop on here and then head into town with O (who is not at the childminders today becuase of a runny bottom ). Now it's nearly 11.30 and if I go now I'll have to rush before lunch. Bugger.

Glad it's not just me with the DH / work thing . My work will definitely be busier after Christmas and DH will have to do more drop-offs / pick-ups with the girls. He looked slightly panicked when I mentioned this, but I am looking forward to it. He's been very spoiled while I've been quiet with work for the past year, and it will be good to remind him that they are his children too!

CaptainDippy · 06/11/2008 11:38

Right, have picked her up Lovely neighbour came and sat with P she is now tucked up, fast asleep in mine and DH's bed. Hopefully it is just tiredness and after an hour or so's sleep, she'll be ok to go to nursery this pm

Dilemma 2 - have to get DD1 from school at 12!!! Hoping DH can do it!!

Anyway, how are you today SOL? Any more on your mum? Always thinking of you!

Glad GTT is over oooggs. xx

Brain emptied ...

Sexonlegs · 06/11/2008 17:52

Hi ladies

Oooggs, glad you are back on chocolate

A quick one to say that the surgeon found that the cancer has spread to 2 of Mum's lymph nodes, so once she is recovered from the surgery, she will start chemo.

cazboldy · 06/11/2008 18:01

SOL - am sorry that the cancer has spread but really hoping she responds to the chemo, and it doesn't make her feel too ill xxxx you ok?

Oooggs - you mean you are not as mad as me
really glad your test was all clear x

computer is playing up big time, and will need to have it fixed so may be offline..... but will keep hanging on in here while I can

Eddas · 06/11/2008 18:21

SOL - am so sorry the cancer has spread. Hope the chemo goes ok and she responds well to it. How are you? Thinking of you all. {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} xxx

Sexonlegs · 06/11/2008 19:44

Hi loves

Thanks for your wishes.

Not sure when the chemo will start. Mum is still recovering from the surgery, and she is still retainng a lot of water, so her kidneys are not 100%.

Not sure how I feel really.

Sad Kind of numb. But then, chemo has progressed over the last few years, so it is not all doom and gloom.

My Dad and brother are calling in, in an hour to have dinner and my nephew is staying with us tonight. I have taken B out of school tomorrow so the 2 of them can spend time together which will be nice. Then in the afternoon, dropping nephew back with Dad and brother and going to see Mum.

I haven't seen her since last Saturday .

God, I am so glad to have found you ladies.

CaptainDippy · 06/11/2008 19:49

We're glad to have you too SOL xxx Enjoy the evening & being with your family. xx

Doobydoo · 06/11/2008 21:20

So sorry to read your news SOL.Obviously hope chemo does its thing.Thinking of you and your family and sending positive vibes your mum's way.xxxxxxxxxxxx

runnyhabbit · 06/11/2008 21:20

Sol - my work colleagues dad has just started chemo (the cancer was disgnosed about 3 weeks ago) He was really dreading the chemo (could only think of the horror stories about being ill etc)
Anyway, his first session was on Saturday, and on Sunday her mum and dad came round for lunch, and my friend said he was like a new man. It has given him a new lease of life, (fortunately hasn't had any nasty side effects) and is now planning on playing lots of golf, and finishing some decorating he's been putting off She reckons he's got more energy than the rest of the family put together
