Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thefortbuilder · 12/12/2008 09:13

hey dh actually came home by 9pm so that was nice. ds1 woke up at 430 and didn't really go back to sleep and was then up from 520 so it was a good job i didn't go out i nthe end....

ds2 slept till 645 which was something at least.

out to dh's department christmas do tonight - it's amazing we have gone from "can't go to any of it i've got to work i'm so stressed" to " i really don't want to wake up with a hangover saturday morning

anyway has everyone done their gift shopping?

mincepiemacaco · 12/12/2008 09:30

hi all, GCG glad you got your CM problem sorted and good luck with the nursery.
flick so, the pain of the dentist paid off and you have lovely gnashers? Sorry to hear about DHs being grumpy arses. Must be the time of year....nearly xmas so everyone's tired but not quite time to wind down yet.
serious are these super cool nights out for his work? Wining and Dining...been a long time since I did any of that....been known to do some Whining
Well, speaking of whingeing and whining...here goes. I have the nastiest stinking chesty cold I've had in ages, DS has now caught the cold bit (hopefully it won't go onto his chest) and we have had no hot water since lunchtime Sunday. The boiler blew out and won't relight. Was a holiday here on Monday so called the technician out on Tuesday, said they'd come Wed or Thurs. Last night no show, supposed to be coming this afternoon. Showers not fun with no hot water and no heating (there's never any heating as we live in Spain and houses here don't have central heating....it's 4 degrees at the mo) I fear that I smell.
Whinge over. As you were ladies.

goodchristmasgirl · 12/12/2008 11:10

mincepiemacoco I too am chesty and full of the nasty stuff. Had it 3 months now, sick of it. Don't feel unwell in myself, just fed up of coughing up phlegm.

Poor DD1 not well again, threw up again this morning, luckily before I took her out so it was just in the house. Luckily they are all asleep now so I really should clean up!

thefortbuilder · 12/12/2008 15:31

yes i have pretty lovely looking gnashers now - one more appointment on thursday next week and we'll be there, except for the root canal work of course....

well it's freezing here! and that very light very cold rain as well which just makes you really really really cold

nothing else interesting to report - supposed to go to ds1's christmas tea at nursery but it started at 3, he'd been up since 5ish and needed a decent nap and only woke up a few mins ago, so i called them and said we weren't going. i don't think he's bothered anyay - if it were a nativity or a carol service that would be differenct i guess.

mincepiemacaco · 12/12/2008 18:59

hooray....man came about 2 hours ago and I have Showered! I no longer pong! never enjoyed a shower so much in my life!

goodchristmasgirl · 13/12/2008 08:36

Morning all,

Poor DD1 was sick again last night, twice after she'd got into bed, so lots of lanudry and changing of bed clothes and PJs . I know she couldn't help it, bless her, but when I'd just got her all cleaned up then she did the same again !!!! DH on nights. I rewarded myself by having fish fingers and smiley faces for my dinner at 8pm (just couldn't be arsed to cook by then!).

She was fine all night, then vomitted again at 5am. She's still asleep now!

It's such a shame as we had a really fun day planned today, it's one of her friend's b'day party's today, with a bouncy castle and everything! Another little friend was going to come with us (whose Mum is one of my BFs) and then little friend and his Mum were gonna stay here the night, me and my mate were gonna watch X factor final and SATC film . (DH out on his works do).

Looks like the whole day is cancelled .
DD1 was gonna go as a fairy to the party. We are all really disappointed .

BTW, I have contacted MNHQ and asked them to delete all my threads about the CM. I just got a bit worried she might see them as it's a public website. They very kindly did it even though they don't normally do that sort of thing.

Hope you all have a good day. I expect I will be up to my eyes in bicarb of soda all day .

LM xxx

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 13/12/2008 10:20

GCG Hope DD1 is on the mend now and that she stops being sick. Sorry that your special plans have been ruined, maybe she will be fine this afternoon and you can still do the evening thing?

DD has been off school all week with a temp of between 38 and 40'c and a cough, she is on anti biotics which finish today so will see how she goes over the next two days.Hopefully she will go back to school on monday, even though she has two hospital appointments on tues and wed so will be missing school anyway. We have to drive 100 miles each way to Edinburgh hospital for her wednesday appointment.

We have a christmas party tomorrow, one next friday, saturday and sunday so I am sure they will be really into receiving gifts by then. [hmmm]

TSS Hope you having a better weekend than last weekend. And enjoy watching X factor final with DSD and DS.

Macaco Glad you have hot water again and are not so stinky

goodchristmasgirl · 13/12/2008 12:36

macoco I'm glad you have had a shower too, I could smell you from here .

DD1 still chundering .

Looks like it's just me, a big bag of lime Doritos and Simon Cowell tonight .

TheSeriousSanta · 13/12/2008 18:36

GCG - How is DD1 now?

Macaco - Well done on the hot water!!!! Amazing how you miss a lovely shower!!!

No news here. DH out tonight, so DSD2, DS and I are preparing to curl up with Simon Cowell and CHeryl Cole.

I really don't mind who wins.....

Anyway, must get on. Am making pizza for DSD2.

TSS x

goodchristmasgirl · 13/12/2008 18:40

Hi serious, thanks for asking, she's been asleep nearly all day. She had 2 rich tea over an hour ago and so far so good, so fingers crossed.

I want Alex to win X factor BTW.

TheSeriousSanta · 13/12/2008 21:54

God, don't they string the X factor out????

I'm feeling really tonight. I posted an extremely honest post in the relationships section and someone has name changed to leave a really horrid post.

I've reported it, as there is no need at all, but the name change thing is bugging me... Why name change if it's an honest opinion... I've made it perfectly clear throughout that I appreciate the posts left etc., so why so nasty? I will never understand some women...

It does get me really. Men would never be this derogatory, so nasty, so mean to each other. But women seem to thrive on 'my life is better than yours'.... I don't get it. I really don't.

Talking of women I don't understand, my DH's ex is being such a cow at the mo. She has 'overlooked' to reserve DSD1 a helmet to go skiing (How RUDDY stupid..........) so I'm having to try and find one for her to use (notice, all of a sudden it's no longer DH's Ex's problem, but mine...). She really is a nasty excuse for a mother.

I'm feeling really done in with sorting everyone else's problems out at the moment, I never get one chance to do anything for myself, and this post on MN has just tipped the balance - that someone can make thier issue mine is just one too far...

sorry, huge (and probably misplaced) rant, but needed to get all that off my chest.

Well, off to bed to watch the final.

See ya, TSS x

mincepiemacaco · 14/12/2008 11:12

sorry to hear that serious, haven't seen the thread but if they've name changed then it sounds like they know they're being well out of order. good on you for reporting it. gotta run, will check back later.
hope you're ok
x

thefortbuilder · 14/12/2008 14:49

TSS i think you need to hide that thread and not go back to it - it's all got a bit out of hand and ridiculous how some threads do. is the poster someone you have had dealings with before, hence the name change?

hope all well otherwise, we are all ok here. not much else to report

goodchristmasgirl · 14/12/2008 17:01

serious sorry to hear about your thread. I haven't seen it, but from what you've said quite upsetting. You don't think it's a FML who has name-changed do you? I sincerely hope not or we will have to strip her of her FML-ness!!

Things pretty naf here today. DD1 STILL being sick (3 days now) and even DD2 managed to vomit up her breakfast today. I am so unbelievably sick of cleaning up vomit......I know poor little thing can't help it, but honestly, 3 whole days of cleaning up sicky sofas, clothes, bed linen, towels etc etc......I can't even dry it all as it's the bloody WINTER!!!!

Sorry to moan.

thefortbuilder · 14/12/2008 17:27

i don't think it is a FML

TheSeriousSanta · 14/12/2008 18:09

No, I don't think it's a FML... Just some coward who wanted to have a bit of a pop but knew they were being out of order so name changed. It's just so cowardly.

If it's an honest, rational and considered opinion, then there is no reason to name change for it.

I'm still reading the thread, and it would appear there are some real clairvoyants on MN. (pity none of them have proffered the winning lottery numbers as part of the all emcompassing know-it-all service The things these people can read into my life on the basis of one rant... It's just a joke, but I do think a lot of the posters are passing on their own fears and insecurities in such threads: 'Oh, my DH doesn't do that so I'm OK'

GCG - Sorry to hear you've had a tough weekend... I really hope DD1 turns a corner soon.. She must be getting really cranky with not feeling well now...

I'm really not looking forward to next week at all.. I'm supposed to be going to a job tomorrow but they haven't yet paid me for 5 days work (which, when you think I'm largely working 3 hours in the evening is A LOT of evenings) so I am not going to go; I might as well cut my losses rather than spend more on petrol and childcare. Bit of a bugger though....

mincepiemacaco · 14/12/2008 18:40

ggnnnnaaaaa!
Just posted a great big post and the computer lost it.
Serious read your thread and I'm sorry it got hijacked by that arse and well done for reporting it. That's really no way to behave, people seem to forget it's a person asking for advice. Totally outrageous. I hope you and DH can work things out cos they don't sound great right now. I think all that about an abusive man etc is really misreading your posts. It's a shame DH won't go to counselling cos it sounds like it would really help him with what appear to be some biiiig emotions around trust/forgiveness/bereavement that at the moment he's dealing with by pushing you away. Not sure what to advise beyond talking to him, which you say he won't do. like I say, hope you can find a way through.
hugs xx

JingleBellsDennySmells · 14/12/2008 19:27

GCG - sorry to hear DD1 had been so poorly, hope she starts to feel a bit better soon.

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 14/12/2008 20:04

TSS Also sorry that some people are having such an attack on you. I do think you and him need to try come up with a solution to some of the problems. Sending you hugs and sorry that asking for help made people think that they have a right to say what that like. I sometimes wonder whats the point of posting outside SN and May 2008, as people are so rude.

GCG Hope DD1 is better now

Macaco It is so annoying when that happens

thefortbuilder · 15/12/2008 08:15

mitchell totally agree with you about posting elsewhere - sometimes people on MN can just be so judgemental / aggressive etc. do we really need that??? I can see why some of the longer time members are going.

monkeysmama · 15/12/2008 10:31

Morning ladies

Glad to report things are much improved in the monkey household. I am over the flu, we have our central heating fixed, the mouse problem is improved if not sorted, and we had a Christmas party yesterday for dd which was great fun (if tiring)!

Went on a trip up north with my mum last week which was brilliant. My mum's from the north so we drove to different places she remembered from her childhood & hadn't been for over 40 years. We get on really well and had a really nice, special time. DD was great though the highlight for her seemed to be the stops at service stations (flashing machines, lots of mad people to smile at). She has started crawling and is trying to pull herself up too! DD is still not sleeping - had our worst night ever on Saturday where she was up every half hour from 11 until 530 but all I can do is try and work out what's wrong. I must be there soon - she's not slept properly for 4 months now - how many issues can there be!!?!

Our Christmas party was fun. One of our good friends came back from HK on Saturday with his daughter & after the year they've had (he is a single father) we wanted to do something to welcome them back. It was crazy though - 5 kids ranging in age from dd (7 months yesterday!), 10 months, 12 months, 3 and 5. We played lots of the old games - pass the parcle, pin the nose on the snowman. DD loved it!

I am sorry but I keep forgetting who it is that is still bfing and doing BLW . How is it going? Dd is eating everything but has gone from pping every day 2 or 3 times to not pooing for 2 days (sorry - TMI). Not sure why or if I need to do something. Could it be all the cucumber she's eating - she'd eat it ALL day if I let her .

Serious - sorry to hear about your other posts - haven't read them but it sounds horrible. As I've said before - I have had some really touching posts on other threads but the vitriol you read on some pages means I don't post on any serious threads apart from this one. Having said that I got a really nasty reply after I'd posted a reply on a thread about face cream once on here. I wanted to post about our sleep issues but decided that as my style of parenting is perhaps a bit different to the "norm" it would be too dangerous and could end up just making me feel worse. Some people obviously have anger issues they're using MN to work through. I hate that attitude of "if you can't stand the heat" that a lot of women on here seem to have.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day. Grey and cold here and am trying to pluck up the energy to go to the park.

MM

thefortbuilder · 15/12/2008 12:43

hey MM glad some things are sorting themselves out!

remind us what you are doing re sleeping etc? sorry bit of a cold so a bit fuzzy on details . is there any way it could be more teeth? is she wanting milk when she wakes up? i find that ds2 will wake if he has not had enough of a dinner, so he has dinner at around 515 and then another bit of carbohydrate at 6ish to feed him up , and then he does go all the way through.

that said ds1 (2.6) is waking pretty much 3 times a night still and is a dreadful sleeper...even when he eats a big dinner

we are doing a misture of blw and purees and ds2 is loving pretty much everything. he likes eating baguette and breadsticks most of all but then chokes up the big lumps!! he's getting there and at least has 2 teeth now with we think some more top ones on the way. he's showing no signs of crawling although he is strong enough, but wants to be upright all the time - trying to shuffle along on his bum and trying to push himself up with his legs rather than pull up - ds1 did this as well.

not much else to report but if you get a chance look at the AIBU thread about baking cakes for your dh to take to the office. morningpaper started it and it's just so ridiculous how upset some people are getting over it classic stupid MN where people are obviously using it to vent their anger about everyday stresses.

on that note TSS hope you are ok

goodchristmasgirl · 15/12/2008 14:14

Hi TSS How are you today? I read a bit of your thread, and I can now see how there's no way that nasty person was a FML, NO WAY would any of us have that in is [phew!].

Quick post here as DD1 just woken up, she's stopped being sick (I hope) but still not herself. DD2 slept for FIVE HOURS this morning after milk first thing, she has a bit of a temp...

Better go, more later...

goodchristmasgirl · 15/12/2008 20:14

Where is everyone?!!

monkeysmama · 15/12/2008 21:08

I am here! [monkeysmama waves at GCG) though off to indulge in my guilty pleasure (Crimewatch)
