Just a quick hello.

Had my Mum staying for last 2 weeks as she let my Dad go to Singapore on his hols with a friend. He wanted us to have her to stay so he didn't feel so guilty. We've had no DS1 in our room every morning, although slightly worried he'll think he can get into our bed in the middle of the night and not be kicked out.

No read your thread TSS on DH, but probably best I don't I get really upset when people are mean for the sake of it. And I can only just keep up with this one anyway!

TheSeriousSanta · 16/12/2008 16:00

Just a quickie from me. DS back to top form again.. ANd he's now the proud owner of 2 teeth

GCG - How is DD1 now?

MM - I love Crimewatch too, but I don't like watching it when I'm on my own (that's silly, I know!) so I watched About a Boy instead!!

Hello to everyone else!

goodchristmasgirl · 16/12/2008 18:37

Thanks for asking serioussanta, DD1 hasn't been sick for well over 48 hrs, but still not really got much appetite. Didn't even want a biscuit today !

I took them both to a lunchtime work Christmas party, Santa was there and had a pressie for DD1, she was in awe!!!!!! (V cute, made me shed a tear actually!).

Other than that, a quiet day. Taking DD1 to hairdressers tomorow for her first ever haircut! Bit nervous, but her hair is so long and poor DH will never cope when he has them on his own!!

Think we are gonna snuggle up and watch 'Love Actually' tonight......

TheSeriousSanta · 16/12/2008 18:49

Oh, I have my eyer on Bridget JOnes (it's the less good sequel, but still good enough for me to snuggle up with!!!)

What side is Love Actually on?

thefortbuilder · 16/12/2008 20:04

we have bought love actually for sophie (our au pair) for christmas as it's pretty much her favourite movie.

will be looking forward to watching it a few times in 2009 i'm sure

how is everyone else doing?

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 16/12/2008 20:13

Hello everyone
I don't want to tempt fate, but will do. but DS2 has a bottle between 6 and 7pm and then top up at 9/10pm and then has been going to 5/6am for another bottle and waking up between 6 and 7:30am.

What an improvement for him, will keep on trying to improve that. But he has done that all on his own with a little encouragement of a watered down bottle.

I am very pleased, he has just turned 7 months.
We are off to Edinburgh tomorrow so have a 6 hour round trip to look forward to. We are leaving DS2 has he isn't a great fan of long car journeys so will be spending the day with my parents.

Hope everyone is well

TheSeriousSanta · 16/12/2008 20:41

Hi guys,

Have started a Bereavement thread, but it's 12 years since DH's son died tomorrow, so (for those of you who do that sort of thing) please keep us in your prayers.

Tomorrow is going to be tough for everyone in the SS household.

TSS xxx

goodchristmasgirl · 16/12/2008 20:49

serioussanta I will remember you all in my prayers tomorrow, it must be such an awful time for you all, esp DH and your DSDs. (((((hugs)))))

Love Actually isn't on TV, we have borrowed DVD from my sister.

mitchell good luck with your long car journey tomorrow and well done DS2 on the sleeping!!! Yay!

HV coming tomorrow to do DD2's 8 month check (a little early).

OH! And my friend had another little girl on Sunday, one week early (she went 16 days over last time so was chuffed to bits!). Last birth was induction resulting in emergency section and baby coming out not breathing...awful experience for the poor love. Her DD1 now a very healthy 2 yr old. Anyway, she managed a normal delivery and is on cloud nine!! Little one is called ISLA, what a lovely name?

thefortbuilder · 17/12/2008 09:52

TSS we will be thinking of you

TheSeriousSanta · 17/12/2008 18:17

Thanks Guys.

Been to church and lit a candle. Never really sure what to do in these situations, as it's not really anything to do with me, IYSWIM, and I would hate to step on Dh's Ex's toes on this one. DH seems OK and we haven't heard anything from Dh's Ex either, which is a good sign.

Ds and I went to the NCT Christmas party today (to meet Santa, as we missed going to Harrods) and we won top prize in the raffle - a photo shoot and canvas print.. I am going to save it for DS's first birthday next May.

Is everyone ready for Christmas? I think we are in pretty good shape now... Tree is up (and looks lovely, IMHO!) I have quite a lot of decorations left over, and am thinking of decorating the tree outside, not sure it's a bit naff though. DH will be home for Christmas on Friday, but is flying home from Moscow, not Kiev, so not landing until after 10pm I really wanted to take DS to meet him from the plane, but it's too late.

Mitchell - How was your day in Edinburgh?

GCG - Hope your two DDs are fighting fit now!

Flick - Def. on for next week (whatever day 23rd is).... Let me know if you have a yearning to see a chocolate labrador (no problems if not!!!!) We might bring DH's car in which case, it's a non starter, as DDog isn't allowed near DH's car never mind IN IT!!!

MM - How are you?

Macaco - thanks for your message on the other thread... No, DH's son died today (1996)... Our DS was born 17th May 2008, but it's still a really emotional day for DH and DH's ex. Seems to have gone better than I'd dared hope... DH's son was born in August and his birthday was extremely difficult (Even moreso because our DS was around the same age as DH's son when he died)

How is everyone else? Has everyone planned what the LOs are eating on Christmas day?

goodchristmasgirl · 17/12/2008 19:46

Hi serious. Been thinking about you all. How awful for them to lose their DS so close to Christmas . Are the DSDs OK?

We are all ready for Christmas here, both trees up (playroom and lounge). Outside lights up. I think you should decorate a tree outside, I think it looks lovely, and not naff at all, if done tastefully, which I would imagine it would be by you .

DD2 will be eating mashed/blended Christmas dinner. That's what we did for DD1 at same age.

DD1 much better, still very little appetite and drove me potty today asking for food, then not eating it, then five mins later asking for food again . She has also cottoned on to the fact that when she was poorly we let her watch DVDs all day, so she keeps telling me she feels poorly and wants to watch a DVD . So I say "well if you're poorly maybe you should go to bed". Then she feels better .

I took her for her first haircut, and she was bloody brilliant considering her age and now looks even more beautiful with a sleek bob [proud mummy].

Other than that, my bloody back is killing me again. Another trip to Alan on Monday. It's different than before, think I have locked up a joint in my spine as it's pure agony, esp first thing in the morning . Quite hard work looking after the girls at the mo cos of it.

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 17/12/2008 19:50

TSS Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hold DS very tight.

Sorry personal stuff about DD below!!!

Well today we heard good and bad news, DD spine/scoliosis is as bad as it can get. But because she is fine and not in any pain, she doesn't have to go through surgery. I am so happy as during the appointment they explained the surgery and risks and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Well now we can carry on looking forward to Christmas. I feel I should be out shopping and buying stuff but because I started last month, I have been finished all wrapped for ages. And would mean everyone getting more presents.

goodchristmasgirl · 17/12/2008 19:59

That's great news Mitchell that DD doesn't need surgery. Bless her . Surgery should always be a last resort and it sounds as if the docs are happy not to operate as she isn't suffering as such.

TheSeriousSanta · 17/12/2008 20:29

Glad DD doesn't need surgery Mitchell... that's probably the best CHristmas present ever, isn't it?

[Smile]

jinglebaiyu · 17/12/2008 23:06

Aww Mitchell, you were in my city! I guess it wasn't really the time for a MN meet up though! Good news about the surgery. A good friend of ours is a kids spinal surgeon in edinburgh, would be very small world if he's your man! initials AB, very lovely man.

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 18/12/2008 08:56

Thanks TSS, GCG and Baiyu it means alot.

Baiyu Consultant was a Mr T and the registar (sp?) was a dark hair young guy with glasses. Can't remember his name. They both were so nice, even made such a effort entertaining DS1.

Next time I make a trip to Edinburgh will let you know, as we drove down Princes street and I rememebered that you have great shops.

jinglebaiyu · 18/12/2008 09:18

Ah ha! I bet the young guy was my friend! He's a registar (sp. don't know either!) but just become a consultant too. If there was anyone looking after a spine, I'd want him, he's brilliant. Definitely do give me a shout next time you're in the city, you could meet gingerwench too, she's become a good friend.

jinglebaiyu · 18/12/2008 09:20

Thinking of your family today TSS

WeWishyouaMitchellChristmas · 18/12/2008 09:24

TSS Sorry I read the day wrong, hope you were ok yesterday

Baiyu Small world if it was him.

thefortbuilder · 18/12/2008 11:47

TSS yes you did totally the right thing lighting a candle and just being low key about it iyswim

not much to report here - did another lot of wrapping last night so only have the ds's to do now. got a few christmas cards up as well and the tree is up and have a fir "swag" thing along the mantlepiece in the front reception room with the tree so it looks all festive.

have a list as long as my arm to get done this afternoon, which involves last couple of christmas presents, and various other errands.

i have to get glasses only a bit longsighted but i need to sort some out so am on a mission for frames. have got 3 pairs from the optician we go to for jacob one of whic his tom davies which i really like. they're just farking expensive

TSS probably best not for dog as we have not great sized garden for him to run around in? also that means you can bring dh's car!

must away jacob starting yet another winge winge winge.....

goodchristmasgirl · 18/12/2008 13:47

afternoon

My goodness, I dunno what it is, but DD1 is really winding me up at the moment! Constant questions, which I wouldn't mind, but when I answer her she then asks the same question again about 20 blardy times!!!!! Arghhhhhhh!
She is also quite whingy, just crying for the smallest thing (i.e. she wants the light on in the playroom, so instead of just asking, she just cries ). Driving me crazy and I keep losing my temper and shouting at her. Grrrrr!

Bit concerned about DD2, she has really gone off her milk, barely has 3-4oz each feed. I have cut right down on her solids (in fact have given her none today since breakfast). HV said she must have at least 500mls a day, which is about 17oz I think. She's getting about 10 max . I don't know what else to do, she just doesn't want it.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Off to a kids Christmas party later, I've just made a load of sandwiches. Let's hope they both behave themselves.

Just went to see BFs tiny tiny new baby who seemed to weigh literally nothing!!! (6lbs 15oz). So so tiny. I just thought 'phew! thank god that stage is over!!'.

mincepiemacaco · 18/12/2008 15:23

sounds like teeth to me

JingleBellsDennySmells · 18/12/2008 16:03

LOL GCG my DD1 still asks the repeated questions 6 years on

Does DD2 normally drink her milk? If its just a recent thing its probably just a blip maybe a bit under the weather/teeth. If a normal thing just try and make the milk up in her food.

thefortbuilder · 18/12/2008 17:23

gcg is she sniffy as well? if she's swallowing loads of mucus she won't want milk...
or it could be teeth!

ds1 is also being a right PITA with his behaviour. he too seems to think that wailing crying replaces every request and then gets himself hysterically upset in about 2 minutes flat.

sam is doing really well - off to get his 8 month check (a month late!) next monday so will have him weighed then. he's also eating like a mad thing at the moment which is great.

TheSeriousSanta · 18/12/2008 17:33

GCG - DS was like this last week.... A combination of a cold (and being mucusy) and teeth. He has two now, is over his cold and eating like a chocolate dog

maybe it's an age thing with the older kids - I am pretty sure that GCG's DD1 and flick's DS1 are about the same age... Not sure, obviously!!

DS and I have been swimming again today and (I think) got some lovely photos!!
