Thought as the messages were coming in thick & fast I´d start new thread. Don´t know if it´ll work though. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about the lack of work, Scorpio. Friends of ours in building are suffering too...
I'm having a nightmare finding a plumber though, so there must be some work around...

I wish I knew how hairclips work. DD1 has some and I can't work out how to put them in. [stupid emoticon] I'm not a very girly girl, and dd is...

FrankenSoph73 · 24/10/2008 12:18

Afternoon all. I'm with TSC Scorpio - I could never have coped being a parent in my teens but believe that there are, like you, some fabulous girls/young women who are more clued up towards children than an oldie like me
Scorpio - Sam always has fruit after his dins - a right little piggy! Unfortunately he's gone down with another cold but still manages to smile through it, bless him.

TSC - that's one of the reasons I'm pleased I've got 2 boys as I'm definitely not a girly girl & couldn´t cope with all the products The only problem is I'm now completely outnumbered at home - hey ho!

Hi everyone!

Well we've been in hospital with Jack again. Horray. His temp hit 38.6 degrees Weds night at 7:30 so I took him to the emergency doc. She took his temp at 9:30 and it was over 39 degrees. So back to Nightingale ward at chesterfield where all the nurses and docs know us so well. Jack had wee/poo/blood tests and his temp went down to normal. Thurs at 11am it rose over 39 degrees again and the diahorrea was back again.

The wee dipstick test says no urine infections, so this is really good news. If Jack gets one of those he's in trouble. So anyways, they got his temp under control again and sent us home late last night with extra antibiotics, calpol and baby ibuprofen as well as more of his normal antibiotics. I have to keep using the calpol all day and add the ibuprofen if his temp refuses to come down. We have an open ward pass for 48 hours as well if he gets really ill again.

After the 2 days his test results will be back and they'll see what he has. If serious/infectious will mean back to hosp, if not then they say I can pick up the correct antib's for his illness and treat him at home. That would be good. Because he isnt a tiny baby anymore they say its better he stays at home where they trust me to be capable of looking after him and playing nurse :P

Phew. So Jack and I are here now on the sofa after I caught up with my housework... honestly.. you leave DP at home for one day.... and LOOK at the place!! o.O

Hehe.

Scorpio - forgot to say - I've still got a lock of hair from DS1's first haircut & I'll be doing the same with Sam. Who said their LO looked like Hitler without the 'tache? That just made me lol as Sam can look the same sometimes, especially after a bath when his hair's still damp & I've just brushed it. Makes me laugh but DH just looks & rolls his eyes He's back this evening so it's back to sharing the bed Although saying that sharing a bed does have its good points

Ah PFJ, so sorry, what a nightmare...fingers crossed for you.

TheShipsCat · 24/10/2008 12:29

That'll be A that looks like hitler without the 'tache...

SalLikesCoffee · 24/10/2008 12:29

Firstly Knitter - oh definitely keep a lock! My mom kept first locks of all of us and I was always amazed at how soft it was! But also - are you SURE you have to cut it??? Just joking, can see practical problem, but he looks adorable. Make sure you take 5 million pics before you cut it!

Scorpio, haven't read the threads in question (bit rushed off my feet today - realised i've got only 1 week of which 1 a bank holiday left before i go away for a month and a million things to do), but in general I think additional education (not re the hows and whats obv, but about the effects it will have on your life) is a good idea. To say that teenage moms are rubbish or scroungers, is however completely out of order. For one, I think you probably have more energy then (and biologically your body is better for childbirth then too). But I have to admit I probably wasn't mature enough to have children as a teenager, and I suspect some teenagers are the same. A lot of older people too however, but I guess they want to try and educate while they can. All I can say for certain is that I'm convinced you're a great mom.

TSC - I started off wanting to say to go to the weigh-in as you know it's fine and the reason for the loss, but then thought about if I was in that situation, and some hv's (peachy's hv assistant springs to mind) seems to be patronising, and the last thing you need is for someone to stress you up further. So I guess as long as everyone is happy and healthy, you could do what you want. Wow, that's a perfectly pointless post from me, isn't it?

FrankenSoph73 · 24/10/2008 12:30

PFJ - you still managed to do housework after all that! I'd have made DP do it Seriously though, sorry to hear that Jack was in hospital again but pleased to hear he's on the mend and fingers crossed you'll be able to treat him at home.

Oh good heaven's, I type too slow. PFJ, what a shock! Thinking of you, glad to hear his urine tested ok. xxx

think im going to hide that thread now...

ThePFJ · 24/10/2008 12:48

If anyone is vaguely confused/interested about whats happened to baby Jack since he was born I have explained it as shortly as possible in my profile which is now up to date....

ThePFJ · 24/10/2008 12:52

Scorpio I am positive you are an excellent mummy, just remember this.. you can't change the opinion of everyone in the world and if anyone is insulting and patronising to you just think to yourself they obviously don't know any better. So you could spend time being angry/upset/shouting at them or you could spend the time drinking hot chocolate/relaxing and being supermum knowing that you are in the right. Life is TOO short to let people bring you down. TRUST me on this. Let the ignorant go jump off a cliff and be warm and happy in your smug knowing knowinglyness.

scorpio1 · 24/10/2008 12:58

i only posted once, i cannot be bothered with it.

thankyou for all the positive thoughts on here though!

hope jack gets better x

PFJ - my sentiments exactly
Am feeling very sorry for the Infant & Primary kids today as they're all dressed up for Hallowe'en but have to stay indoors as it is absolutely peeing down. DS1 hates the mask that goes with his costume but Nana sent him another one so he's been wearing that Am going to try and get down to the Hall for their parade later. Last day at school today for a week then a week off - hurrah! My whole body is absolutely shattered. Am going to ask DH to take Sam for a couple of his appointments next week as the driving is really wearing.

Ooohhhh kaayyyy, have since figured out it's only a bank holiday in Ireland, not here... At least it's still Friday, right? Right??? Oh dear. Honestly, I had half a mind not long ago...

Soph, guess it've missed you, but I'm going to say anyway - bye!!! See you again in Dec.

Scorpio, just to follow on on my post of this morning - people who judge others are usually the ones that should really stay quiet the most! But yes, like the others have said, no point wasting your breath on wise arses!

ThePFJ · 24/10/2008 19:00

I am offline now for the night, have fun girls. Jack is responding well to the medicines we are giving him and he started sleeping through (8 hours without wanting a bottle) 2 nights ago. Hopefully this is the illness talking and its really happening.

Anyways night night all. XXX

ThePFJ · 24/10/2008 19:01

sorry.. I meant 'isn't the illness talking' ...ahem. My typing = shite.

Denny185 · 24/10/2008 20:19

Evening all, new pc and no internet for few days. Sorry Jack been unwell glad he's responding to meds and some bonus sleep with it.

DD2 is now bottle fed! She has been nipping with every feed for the last couple of weeks but the final straw came yesterday am when she bit and yanked, thank god she dosent have top teeth yet or there would have been missing flesh and lots of blood. It took 7 hours for her to finally take a bottle and started off only taking a bit but tonight she took 8oz Still expressing at the minute but will grad reduce that amount and increase the amount of formula. DH v happy as Im away for long weekend in Nov (with luckymummy) and he thought he was going to have a bottle fight for that 3 days.

I thought I would feel a bit sad about stopping but Im so dam relieved Im not going to have my nips chomped off.
