I'm sooooo tired, I'm off to bed when I've finished here. We've been to Southport today to see DH's grandma today, it'll be her 101st birthday on Tuesday. She's not in the best of health now and has been in a hospital bed in her care home since June, but she perked up a bit when she saw George and was amused by him jumping on her bed a lot (I tried to get him to sit by her so she could see him but he just wanted to stand up and jump) and trying to eat her birthday cards. After we left apparently she said 'he's a livewire isn't he'! George with his Great Grandma

He's managing to eat a little bit more, and we've started to tackle bedtime a bit too because he's just getting worse and worse. Last couple of nights one of us have been up with him almost constantly, rocking him to sleep, putting him in his cot, then 20 mins later he'd wake up and scream and we'd have to start all over again. |I looked at the baby whisperer site earlier (thanks so much for the link, Ladybee) and it says that you can't do PU/PD if the baby uses a prop to sleep, and George uses a dummy. So we've decided to tackle it by not getting him out of the cot (except to try burping if he's fed recently) and just patting his tummy. It took a good hour this evening and he cried lots, but it was more 'cross' crying than anything and he did eventually go to sleep. nd I don't feel so bad about him crying if one of us is patting him, because he knows we're there and hasn't been abandoned IYSWIM. Hopefully he'll learn soon that we won't be getting him out of his cot to cuddle him to sleep so he might as well just go to sleep sooner. He was starting to get cross when we were holding him too, so nothing was working really. I'm going to do the same thing for daytime naps too.

Denny185 · 09/11/2008 10:28

Glad G is feeling a better Knitter, glad u have found a way of sorting the sleep that suits u all. Shouldnt take too long, fingers crossed to a good stretch of sleep soon.

DD1 was sent home from school on Fri with a temperature again and DD2 has been up during the night for the last couple of nights with a temperature too. I dont think its the temp that is waking she seems to have a coughing fit and wakes herself up. So weve now had 2 weeks of one or the other being unwell (Ds started it off) I really dont like this time of year much.

DH on nights this weekend, day in yesterday and I cooked a months worth of babyfood, soups and kids meals. Kitchen was all clean and tidy at the end of the day but while I bathed the kids Dh made fagitas, 1 pan and 1 chopping board u would think, but no kitchen was a bomb site, how??

Off to mums in a bit 4 Sunday lunch, mmm

KnitterInTheNW · 09/11/2008 12:52

Woohoo! G just went to sleep in his cot with only 5 mins of patting. Am feeling very pleased.

Lol at your DH using everything in the kitchen to make one meal, Denny. They really are a different species to us, aren't they?

Denny185 · 09/11/2008 19:36

Yeah, getting easier all ready then, v glad 4 you.

No cooking 4 me today and washing up with 3 of you dosent take v long, now kids all in bed and ready to watch Jeremy Clarkson being rude about someone else this week, hehehe.

KnitterInTheNW · 09/11/2008 20:36

I was being a little premature... he woke up 15 mins later and it took a good 45 mins to get him back to sleep again!

I'm off to bed straight after Jeremy, I'm shattered.

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 09:57

Sorry to hear of bad sleeping, hope you get some rest soon.

My blocked duct has gone... Have you heard of the best way to get rid of one? it really works....

Good weekend here. Feeling on the up.

PeachyFizzesLikeADampSquibb · 10/11/2008 10:02

Morning guys

been away all weekend at the carnivals- been a bit tiring and extemely wet (!!) but good fun.

Bas is now a super crawler; off stairgate shopping probably tomorrow- which will be fun coz I cant see ds3 opening them LOL!

Catch up later

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 10:20

uni will have me back yay!!

PeachyFizzesLikeADampSquibb · 10/11/2008 10:37

Great news Scorpio

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 10:39

Feel a bit wobbly about mimi going to nursery...BUT i have known them all for 5 years...and it will be one day 8-4, thats pretty much it.

Hoping to keep up BF; going to express at uni at lunchtime i think, just that one feed to keep it up. Good idea?

PeachyFizzesLikeADampSquibb · 10/11/2008 10:40

That will be a great idea Scorpio. When would you start? (what subject is it? sorry I forget)

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 10:41

I'm going back at the end of this month - Social Work.

I just think i can get a bit of me back; get further towards finishing....plus student grant helps out and its not much time.

Feel a little selfish though

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 10:55

oh and you remember we were talking baout thse fingerprint gift things - they are having a lady come in at nursery to make them with you

going to get DH a keyring of all kiddies

LadyBee · 10/11/2008 10:58

brilliant news Scorpio, expressing and nursery plans all sound good, am sure Mimi will enjoy her day out and expressing should be fine to keep supply up esp. as only one day out of normal pattern.

I'm just about packed and ready to go - fly out this evening. It's amazing how much more organisation flying with a baby takes, everything from how to get to the airport to how to get supplies through the security checks is different. Has occupied my brain for far too long, I'll be pleased just to get on the plane now.

Will keep an eye on what's going on but you probably won't hear from me much between now and Christmas - hope the next few weeks go easy for everyone!

Soph73 · 10/11/2008 12:07

Hi all. Have a great time Ladybee, we´ll miss you Scorpio - how do you get rid of a blocked duct am dying to know??? Good on ya for starting Uni again (I know I've already said) & don't worry about Mimi she'll be fine. Babies are always OK & the Mums are a wreck. I still feel dreadful every time I leave him even though he's all smiles for them there ... typical!

TheShipsCat · 10/11/2008 12:17

Hi girls,

back from a really good week in Malaysia for work. I missed the girls terribly, but it was very nice to be me again for a bit. And to be in a really posh hotel .

Its been weird being back as I can't quite work out what A needs to be doing about solids and milk, but we are getting there. I've been very nervous about giving her stuff as dd1 has loads of allergies, but I think dd2 seems much more resilient. And she's now sleeping through! DH fell asleep on the sofa the other night and slept through her dream feed, so she did 13 hours! So that's it for us - no more night feeds - unless she's ill or something. Yay!! ut I hadn'r realised what a pita it would be cooking separate meals for everybody - Peachy, I don't know how you do it!

And A starts nursery on Thursday. I'm a bit sad, but I really have to work now, but its just going to be one day a well till Christmas, and then more from the new year.

Sorry to hear of more DH problems for you Scorpio, but its great you are starting uni again!
Have a great time LadyBee!
Good news about Sam's physio, Soph,
Sorry about the babies who aren't sleeping well, and those that are poorly.

TheShipsCat · 10/11/2008 12:19

Also, has anyone heard from Oma? Bit worried abut her...

Soph73 · 10/11/2008 12:40

Hi TSC, very about your week in Malaysia - but I'm sure you were working incredibly hard and not enjoying yourself at all Pleased that A is sleeping & eating. I've been (touch wood) incredibly lucky with both my boys as they seem to have cast iron constitutions & eat anything & everything going. Long may it last. Don't know about Oma I'm afraid, sure someone else will though. Hope she's OK.

TheShipsCat · 10/11/2008 14:31

Had a great week, but it was very busy - I was working 18 hour days. But I also had a day and a half off to enjoy this

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 14:46

Not since the other day i havent....i shall email stalk her

Ummm, well, it needs to be sucked out very hard.... please dont make me say it!

Soph73 · 10/11/2008 15:17

TSC - bah humbug, knew I shouldn't have pressed onto the link

Scorpio - go on, say it, say it (tee hee)

Soph73 · 10/11/2008 15:20

Forgot to say, I´ve had all my hair chopped off. I was only going to get it trimmed but that's what I always do so once I got there I thought, sod it, be brave & I was. It's very nice, even if I do say so myself Will get DH to take a piccie and put it on tomorrow. I'm still trying to get used to feeling the air round my neck.

VictorianSqualor · 10/11/2008 15:38

LOL.
You can just massage your breast in a hot shower....
Just spoken to the OT who says DD isn't going to need one-on-one therapy, but group therapy instead, although they want to test her for sensory issues now.

scorpio1 · 10/11/2008 16:33

i tried VS - i really did, hot water bottle, massage, everything, but it was getting bigger and bigger and i am scared of getting mastitis so i remembered something i read on here....
