We've had a great day, we've staggered opening her presents she got loads and you can't see the carpet for them. Took her to Brewsters with the Grandparents and she met Brewster the bear. She's had cake and loads of balloons.

Happy Birthday all the other 20th July babes.

Think we are all coming down with colds now

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 20/07/2005 18:23

littlerach · 21/07/2005 10:36

Do you know, the combination of DD2 almost being a year, and DD1 finishing pre school is making me quite weepy, dare I say, lamost broody!!!

Okay, boring stuff again!
What are you feeding them at the mo? DD2's meals seem so boring, mash or pasta and veg and chicken, what else can I give her???
No eggs.
Still has no teeth.
Yes, I have Annabel Karmel, but can't be bothered with many of her meals!

And what snacks??

Anyone.....

OP posts:
teeavee · 21/07/2005 10:57

my ds was one last monday!!!!!!!
for snacks, he's having bread and butter (not exciting, but handy) and croissants, as wel live next door but one to a boulangerie
he also loves melon, and ate 5 large pieces in a row yesterday. orange segments have also been a fave since he was about 5.5 months
I'm actually still mixing everything for him, even though he's got 8 teeth, just so he gets some serious nutrition in him, but he loves having a good tough bit of crusty bread to chew on himself at the same time.

he's on real milk now, and drink so much more that when he was on the powdered stuff! Don't think he liked it much (I stopped bf at 9.5 months)
I also give him rice cakes sometimes, but he's not a big fan

teeavee · 21/07/2005 10:59

I too am v broody, thinking back to my pregnancy last year... lots ov envious looks at the bellies of pregnant women at the moment!

littlerach · 22/07/2005 13:26

WE HAVE A TOOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 22/07/2005 14:53

at littlerach

We've got tooth numbers 7 and 8 coming through, Abbie eats anything you put in front of her only if she can pick it up and eat it herself. Thanks to my mum she has discovered chocolate but we are limiting it severly. Her favs are strawberries, grapes, peach, toast, raisins.

Springchicken · 22/07/2005 15:27

Happy B'day to all coming up soon. I know Jess' special day is this weekend

Evie is big on fruit too - she wont eat cake at nursery, the only one in her class, so she has fruit every day. Peaches, pears, plums, nectarine's - she loves them all.
Still only got 3 teeth over here.

Jess is 1 on SUNDAY! OMG! My little baby!

Jess has 5 teeth, still waiting for 6,7, and 8 that all seem to be ready but not quite popping through!

Glad we cancelled jess's party as just seen the weather and its supposed to p*ss it down all day!!!

GirlySquare · 22/07/2005 20:32

Hi I'm new, ds born 13/08/2004 - Friday the 13th! Catriona isn't crawling yet, she just wants to walk.

Thanks to littlerach for pointing out this thread. Congrats to all the pg ladies! MarmaladeSun well done with the 97% pass - you're amazing!

sweetkitty · 22/07/2005 20:45

:O:O:O at the raisin story dino

I only give her less than 10 at a time because they go stright from one end to the other don't think she even chews them.

Eshay · 23/07/2005 09:00

What's the problem with raisins? Thomas loves them (and he does chew them, he even has 1.5 molars now). He no longer likes having his teeth brushed so i've been a bit slack with that. Will all his beautiful teeth fall out next year because of the raisins?

littlerach · 23/07/2005 18:01

There was a report in the press that because dried fruit sticks to teeth then it can cause tooth decay as it contains sugar - common sense really. And that fruit juice does the same. Nothing new, more a report to tell us that whatever we do for our children, there will be some report that shows it isn't the "right" thing.
Really you have to balance out the whole food issue, and just do what is best. If dried fruit has to make up their 5 portions a day, then do it. Or if it adds to their iron intake. But the report was pointing out that cheese, bread and savoury items are a better snack to give them. Or fresh fruit.

Who knows....

Anyway, happy birthday to Jessica. My DD1 sends her a kiss!!

GirlySquare · 24/07/2005 09:43

Happy 1st Birthday Jess!

Thanks for the welcome message littlerach. BTW Catriona is obviously dd not ds!

Eshay · 24/07/2005 15:11

Thanks Littlerach and congartulations on the tooth! Nothing too dramatic about the raisins then. Thomas loves his raisins but he loves cheweing on licorice root too so that brushes his teeth a bit in between meals.

Happy birthday to all birthday babies this week. Thomas suddenly seems so much more grown-up. He started walking (properly) in the week after his birthday and I even heard a woman in the supermarket refer to him as 'little boy' rather than 'baby'. At least she said he was cute

spacecadet · 27/07/2005 11:51

belated happy birthday to jess.
ive been away for the weekend, went to wales to saty with my mum, had a joint wedding anniverasary and birthday bbq on sunday.
emily is now taking more and more steps!

poppy101 · 27/07/2005 12:22

Hi, hope you dont mind me dropping in on this thread. My little one was born on 19/8/04, still hasn't got any teeth, looks like he has some teeth that will erupt soon, but have been saying this for the last 4 months. I keep looking every day at his bottom two teeth in hope that they have popped through his gum but no signs and he looks like the top two and some side teeth are going to come through too, we just have to wait.
He is now starting to wallk around the furniture and using one hand.

littlerach · 27/07/2005 14:19

Welcome Poppy, DD2 has only just got her tooth through, she is almost a year.

So, are you still sterilising, anyone?
Can we go straight to cows milk at a year?

We stayed at mums for the weekend, DD2 would NOT go to sleep in the soare room at all. Hellish!! But she adores my step dad sooo m,uch.
