Oh and somebody has introduced Tilda to Shrek. Bloody film. She demands 'Shrek and lady and Donkey' 17 times a day. Have taken to saying 'Tha'll do Tilda, tha'll do' though.

DH is working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, NYE (my birthday!) and NY's Day. He is working 9pm to 5am NYE actually. I've cancelled Christmas here. In fact I'm coming to one of you lot instead. Who wants me and tank?

Tweed jacket hasn't arrived yet. I'm presuming it's the gift wrapping that's taking the time.

ShowOfHands · 25/10/2008 13:24

Scoot i would have flounced too. I flounced the other day actually and do you know where i ended up? Round the corner on the beach, the car was knackered and i was too scared to drive it any further Luckily AM phoned and we chatted for a while before i stomped back home.

Tesco shopping alone sounds quite fun, now that is ...

SOH i am sorry dh is working at Xmas, it does make you want to cancel everything You could come to us but we are not even here! Off to MIL along with sil and bil too. We will be wide loads on the couch together.

Come on your own next week, can you cycle that far? The gift wrapping yes, thats what it is. We are looking out for tweed wrapping paper

TMAM how awful for your Ayah, you just dont expect it so young Well done on the running, are you feeling super fit and full of energy? I cant wait to have my body back and sort it out if it isnt a lost cause that is

MKG pumkin muffins sound nice, we made toffee apples and chocolate bats this morning. They wont be here for halloween so we are getting in some fun stuff before i drive them to ex tomorrow.

I took dd to Brownie camp last night, she was soooo excited. She is in a big dorm with all her friends, they are doing lots of activities and having midnight feasts She will be having such fun, much deserved too.

I am craving liquorice allsorts, off to the shop

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 05:56

Whose children were awake before sparrow's fart this morning?

AprilMeadow · 26/10/2008 06:53

Morning TYG! We were up at 6.03am. Tried to convince J that it was the middle of the night and just as he had given in E decided to get up.

What time were you up?

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2008 07:05

Try 3am you lightweights. [yawn]

AprilMeadow · 26/10/2008 07:07

no way!

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2008 07:12

Yes way. Cough cough cough cough. Ping! Wide awake. Mummy. Books. Mummy. Shrek. Mummy. Kiss. Mummy. Books.

She's just starting to flag. I'm taking her back to bed in a minute and going to see if we can have a nap together.

OP posts:
AprilMeadow · 26/10/2008 07:34

fingers crossed that she does have a little snooze for you.

How many other babies are in the terrible 2's stage?? Ella is a jekyll & hyde character at the moment. One minute all lovely like she has always been and then the next she is throwing herself on the floor with the mother of all tantrums over something that we are not even aware of. She throws things, screams like a banshee and either goes totally floppy or totally stiff so that we cant pick her up

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 08:18

Bed at 12.30 ish (doh), fed O between 3 and 4, not realising his body thought it was 4-5. (Our bedside clock is a DAB radio and updated itself in the night.) Back to bed, A woke just before 5 and we thought she was sick and eventually realised that she was just hungry.

Thankfully she has finally discovered telly and we have some ITNG and Space Pirates on Sky+. She was gas the other day. They were singing Agadoo on Space Pirates and she was dancing like a mad thing. She loves it.

Scoot, sorry work is so rubbish. You definitely need to have it out with your manager. FWIW, I would have flounced on DH too and wouldn't have had anywhere better than Tesco to flounce to.

ThemasterandmarGOREitas · 26/10/2008 08:39

oh no, now you are all 3 hours behind me, I will never keep up or will post when you are all in bed

I have done my 10 km today as part of the Nairobi Marathon, it was great fun. There was an amazing atmosphere, in my race there must have been about 5,000 people Dh did the half marathon and is suffering a lot [smug emoticon] I am not. I saw the winner of the marathon finish, wow, they can really shift these Kenyan runners. He was hardly breaking a sweat and his time must have been a little over 2 hours

I hope the tank gets over her shrek obsession cough soon.

April, we too have have the split personality thing going on, one minute J is all charm, the next a writhing beast on the floor. I can't wait until he can talk a little more

Scoot I love that you flounced to Tesco's, I hope it was a Tesco Extra, that would make it extra worthwhile and thank god it wasn't an Aldi

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 10:11

Well done TMAM! What was your time?

(Just back from punishing training session, but am a long way off running 10kms.)

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 10:12

AM - I meant to say to you that A has a bit of a split personality at the moment. 'Tis wearing to say the least.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 10:15

My local Tesco Extra just became even more "extra" and added clothes etc. I actually went to "have a look" the other week when A was at the childminders. What has become of me? S said, "Yeah, remember you got really excited when Karen Millen opened in Islington when we lived there?" Then, "but it's not really the same is it?" No, it's definitely not.

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2008 14:40

Morning all.

TMAM, well done you on your 10k. I'm supposed to be out running atm. I am in my pyjamas watching crap Sunday tv and drinking earl grey.

What is this clothes shopping you speak of? I realised yesterday that I haven't bought any new clothes since buying a bundle of maternity stuff off ebay in 2006. Not good. We're going to have proper photos done in 3 weeks courtesy of the ILs and I'm dreading it. I hate having my photo taken but am determined that there will be pics of me and tank growing up. Nothing fits properly though. I'm a size 10 again but still breastfeeding so my normal clothes look wrong due to still being 3 cup sizes bigger and only having crappy nursing bras that do nothing for me. I might just cancel it, I just look like a flushed lump in photos with ill-fitting clothes and crap hair. Maybe I could wear my new tweed jacket...

I crawled back into bed at 7.30 and got up again at midday. DH took the tank out to wear her out. She fell asleep about 10 minutes ago. That's 11 hours of bouncing. Fortunately she doesn't have terrible 2s syndrome yet and I'm making the most of her sunny personality even if it has to be at 3am.

DH is cooking roast lamb, smells lovely. I'm not moving off the sofa.

Well done TMAM!!

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2008 15:18

Aww you gotta love PC DH. Just nipped out for eggs, came back with flowers.

Altogether now... vomit.

OP posts:
AprilMeadow · 26/10/2008 15:35

Aww thats lovely!
Mine used to do nice things like that.....

ThemasterandmarGOREitas · 26/10/2008 15:45

Awww sweet and he cooks too! Who cares if he has to work over Christmas, when he is so thoughtful. Bleeeuuugggh.

You see SOH, that's where Tesco Extra comes in, you can buy some good cheap clothes made by the child slaves decent folk of emerging markets (we don't like to use the term third world ) and look fabulous for your photo shoot, they even do brassieres! You'd only have to wear it for a couple of hours..., in fact you could probably take it back and exchange it for gingerbread afterwards

My time was 1 hour 5 minutes. I was aiming for under an hour but I didn't stop at all and it was so bottlenecked at the start that I couldn't get into my pace properly til after the 2nd km. Still, I am very pleased. I'd like to do another one now.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2008 20:40

Where did you find that one SOH?

That's a great time TMAM. Can imagine how you must feel about the lost 5 mins in the bottleneck. When DH did his first marathon, he was aiming for just under 4 hours and did it in 4 hours and 30 seconds. He was gutted. 30 seconds!
I have to say, your life of "cocktail hours" makes me . For someone from a former colony, I've always had an unreasonable penchant for the colonial lifestyle. Cairo in the 20s and 30s maybe...

Managed to keep the kids up til 7. Bathed A at 4.30 to keep her busy, then gave her dinner with the family, then sat her in front of CBeebies fron 6 til 7. Please God, she'll sleep until 7 tomorrow. The boy eyeballed us during dinner and has his bath afterwards and was asleep by 7. Pleeease let them both sleep.

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/10/2008 22:12

DSD decided 5.15 am was a good time to wake up this morning, then Til decided she didn't fancy having a nap so she was an absolute quivering wreck by the time we got to 7pm. Whose stupid farkin idea was it to fark about with the clocks ??!! We tried to explain what had happened with the clocks to DSD today and she wanted to know why (as she does with everything). Answers on a postcard please !

Its been a very stressful weekend

SKYTVADDICT · 27/10/2008 09:49

TSM - Why oh why - that is the question? It really isn't necessary. Saying that, we haven't been too bad so far. L was up nearly all night Saturday so we didn't notice the difference anyway and C slept until 8 for some unknown reason! He didn't have a nap all day though and was a wreck by 7 pm!! All awake at 7pm this morning so another good one, can it last?

L been a bit poorly with a temp but seems to have come through it without a visit to our of hours doc as DP wanted!

DD1 just come downstairs and asked how the hoover gets upstairs as she wants to hoover her room - just about to pass out I think! Better go and carry it up for her as she may change her mind.

SKYTVMOSTHAUNTEDADDICT · 27/10/2008 09:51

Meant to say well done on the run TMAM and hello to everyone else.

ShowOfHands · 27/10/2008 10:20

TMAM, you've inspired me. I've put my name down for a 10k run. DH is going to do it with me. I'm making a list of things to do before I'm 30:

  1. 10k run (might make it a half marathon if all goes well)
  2. Learn to drive
  3. Learn to play chess
  4. Finish my book

Come on, join in. Things you all want to do before your next big birthday.

Tildy was very good and slept 8-8 last night after yesterday's shennanigans. I still don't understand how your children nap anymore. Tild just guffaws in my face if I suggest sleep in the middle of the day.

Tilly, for dsd: changing the clocks is a prudent and economical measure that was started just before the war. It is to ensure that we have the maximum amount of daylight during our waking hours. It's good for our health, we see more daylight and use less electricity. If we didn't alter it you would have places that are still light at midnight while we slumbered (or not because the light kept us awake) and places where the mornings would be horribly dark and you wouldn't want to get up. They did try leaving it alone for a few years but places like Scotland got sick of the dark mornings. Would that make sense to her? Tell her that the day isn't actually 24 hours long either. The year isn't 365 days long at all. It's all an artificial control measure that they try and keep ticking over with an extra day once every 4 years but you can't fool me. They're trying to control us you know. It's a conspiracy.
