treacle buns hanging from string that you have to eat with your hands tied behind your back is always a good one......make sure the buns are plastered in the treacle (or golden syrup)

My cat is being weird with me. she has stuck to me like glue today and gets really upset if I try and turf her off me. she nearly bit me earlier. As soon as I stand up she jumps in my seat as well which she never usually does. It's like having a real life microwave teddy bear with me. I wonder if she is sensing some hormonal changes to do with the baby?

RiallyEeRiaee · 26/10/2008 21:22

I have never played that game. I think DM had the same mess-related/small children in large numbers phobic problems I have. They used to play weird party games when she was young though. I suppose maybe our "isolation" on the farm (it wasn't Hannah Hauxwell isolated, but not in the village) played a part in that? At friends houses we used to play a game with a dice and hat, scarf and gloves and if you threw a 6 you had until the next "6" to put on the hat scarf and gloves and try to eat a mars bar with a knife and fork.

I think Obe went a bit odd when I was PG with DS2 and baggins. He seemed to need to be near me.

We played that game too Ria, but with a HUGE bar of Dairy Milk. We had a string of Xmas parties in our family, 4 or 5 nights on the trot, all the same people, just in different houses. And there was lots of children so we would always have games.

RiallyEeRiaee · 26/10/2008 21:32

I think that's what it was like in our family too jammy, it's just me being the youngest and they'd stopped by the time I was old enough because all the other kids had grown out of it

I was a lot younger than my cousins too Ria, but they kept it going long enough for me to enjoy it too. The messy games stopped earlier (I can only just remember the flour bowl thing) but other games continued with me being the only real child, but older cousins and my parents and aunts and uncles would all play to make me happy

RiallyEeRiaee · 26/10/2008 21:41

jammy

am adding conkers and star-gazing to my list of activities. DS1 has a load of books out of the library, and got a telescope for last xmas. I hope I can hang on to this enthusiasm until Friday.

hello all

just a quicky to say I saw my new consultant this morning and she was great; very positive and supportive of my choices. She hasn't insisted I make a post dates appointment or that I book in for a section at eg 42 weeks; just said let;s threat this as a normal birth, but with an eye on the fact that it is high risk but that CFM isn;t being used. She is getting her head MW to write up a care plan to go in my notes so there will be no arguments or ambiguities when I go into the hospital. so, all in all a very positive experience.

She did do the "you are aware of the possible consequences if you do have a scar rupture?" thing which always scares the bejesus out of me, but as that risk is being spouted by them as 5 in 1000, that's still a 995 in 1000 chance all will be well.

so.......no post dates appointment; no section booked; am being treated like any other normally labouring woman........BRING IT ON

Daisy

FiendishFairyFay · 27/10/2008 13:17

great news Daisy

LittleMissNorty · 27/10/2008 14:18

That's great news Daisy.....you are very brave....I'm most likely to have an elective CS as a crash CS last time was so scary.

Elvira.....I'm due beg Fab so got AGES yet...

DD hardly eaten anything and got mr whippy nappies so DH has booked tomorrow off to look after her....

Fairy....how are things? Did your weekend improve?

LackaDAISYcal · 27/10/2008 14:27

lol at Mr whippy nappies norty. There was me thinking it was a new make of re-useable

If you do consider a VBAC, I have lots and lots of info kicking about

LackaDAISYcal · 27/10/2008 14:27

why did you need the crash section last time?

LittleMissNorty · 27/10/2008 14:31

think the hospital would love me to have a VBAC.

Laboured for 26 hours with DD, got to 2cm and when they tried syntocin, it dropped her heart rate.

I have to admit to not really considering anything in any great detail before now, but with you and my sister in exactly the same position right now (my DSis is 38 weeks today).....I'm beginning to realise that this has gotta come out somehow

RiallyEeRiaee · 27/10/2008 14:44

the woman down the road has gone out and left her daughter here (she was playing here already) and we had to give her lunch.

I have got this parenting lark wrong somehow.

off to collect DS1...

Hi everyone

Ria - I am a member of a few panels but the only ones I ever seem to get anything from are Tesco Home Panels. Nothing very exciting - kitchen rolls, bin bags, etc so fra - but it all helps... That is crap parenting by that mother

Norty - things are a bit better but still not great. Am hoping that a quiet, calm half term will help. PMSL at MR Whippy nappies, I hope she feels better soon.

JammyOLantern · 27/10/2008 18:03

I made it through a whole day at work My voice nearly conked out at a couple of points (I had to chair a meeting, so it was a very short one!) and I'm tired now, but I did it!

FiendishFairyFay · 27/10/2008 18:28

Well done Jammy, I hope you can take it easy this evening to recover
