P&T advice needed. I have two extra connectory things that appear to be bolted together but surplus to requirements. holly?....jammy?

Also, I've stuck the front toddler seat on to see how DD fits in it. Should I leave it there so she gets used to it or let her ride in the main seat for a couple of weeks? She isn't too happy about the whole thing as she can't climb in and out the way she did with the techno and has howled the whole time she was in it.

she has also developed a screaming hissy phobia of straws . I gave her a wee probiotic drink at lunchtime with a straw and she started screaming. It took nearly ten minutes to calm her down. I poured the drink into a cup for her and then tried to put the straw in the cup and she started screaming again. Took the straw away and the screaming stopped. Not sure what that is all about.

Hi everyone

Daisy, I didn't but the P&T sleeping bag thingey - I just used the coseytoes that I had from my other buggy, which fitted fine

Not sure about the two extra connectors. There are 2 bits that you use to attach the 2nd seat to the front, whoch you don't need when the 2nd seat is attached to the back.

I used it as a single buggy for DD (in the main seat) for a month or so before DS was born. I then put the second seat on the front and lowered the back for DS when he came along. She didn't seem to notice, as she was in the same position, just higher up

I didn't have soft strap covers either, and it was fine.

FiendishFairyFay · 21/10/2008 14:06

at ear piercing. My view is that it's horrid on the under 12s

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 14:34

Thanks fairy (didn't know you were a P&T owner as well!). I thought they might be for the toddler seat up front, but it seemed to fit just fine without them. Maybe they are spares?

The straps are OK actually. They don't seem as flimsy when the harness is done up properly and the chest plate bit is quite padded.

Thankfully I had a pump to hand or we would have been going nowhere fast this afternoon; took me a while to figure out how to work it though; it has been decades years since I had to do any bike maintenance. DD is coming round to it; she has had her dollys in the lie flat bit

JammyOLantern · 21/10/2008 14:41

No idea baout your connector things Daisy I'm afraid. DH put ours together and of course we only have a single version anyway.

house inspection?

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 15:47

Just did the school run and was in pain every step of the way . I am getting beyond walking now but my bump is struggling to fit in the car.

I think I've had a bit more of a show as well, but a bit clueless as I never had any of that with DS or DD. Couloured mucous, a bit yellowy/greeny (either that or it's an infection ). Maybe I need to start a thread in childbirth?

I have utmost admiration for everyone who has done this with toddlers to look after; tis bloody hard work!

HollyWeen · 21/10/2008 15:59

Daisy, the only connectors we had for the P&T were the "elbows" to attach the top seat onto the main seat. Once ds2 is big enough he can go in the top seat and you can put the toddler seat underneath for dd. Then she can scoot in and out as she pleases.

The bfing calendar thing is sorted. Basically the NCT heard about our possible calendar and started sending out emails to people to get on board with theirs. It is nothing to do with me at all. I don't want to be involved with the NCT calendar as it is going to be photographs of breastfeeding art, not breastfeeding mothers. All very NCT and lentil weaverish. We are going to do our own one using mums from the local SureStart groups. Something a bit more for everyone. The idea is to make breastfeeding advice a bit more accessible and that no matter where you live, how much money you have or how old you are you can breastfeed too! A lot of people see the NCT as a bit middle class and for older mothers and that isn't something we really wanted to portray. So it is sorted! I got my knickers in a twist over nothing really. I'm not sure how the NCT are going to feel about me being involved in this project though. I think I'd better check with them.

Arseburgers indeed elvira!

Should I have two of them then? I am very confused.

the instructions for putting it together are pants. fisrt outing a success though; sooooooo easy to push compared to the Maclaren.

and forgot to say arseburgers to your DH elvira.

HollyWeen · 21/10/2008 16:17

Are they these daisy? If so you should have two of them to attach the top seat on.

Absolutely elvira. I do not want new mums to have a floaty beautiful wonderful image of breastfeeding. If they have that image in their heads and it all goes wrong then they will feel that they are failures and will be less likely to ask for help. If we have real mums breastfeeding then it will hopefully show the real and human side of it. I want a pg breastfeeder, an older mum, a young mum, a tandem feeder, a twin feeder, a toddler feeder etc. to show all the different types of mums that can and do breastfeed, ie. all of them! It's going to be fun!

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 16:21

That's them; there was only one in the box!

Better get onto the pram shop asap although I managed to fit the toddler seat onto the frame without them somehow

JammyOLantern · 21/10/2008 16:22

Glad the P&T a success.
Arse indeed to your DH then Elvira. Sorry, I'd never heard of anyone renting getting inspected, but that makes sense (although is a PITA). When I rented they just kept back a load of my deposit for industrial cleaning because I'd left it in a mess. By which they mean I hadn't moved the big bookcase out of the corner and hoovered behind it!

HollyWeen · 21/10/2008 17:28

How did you do that then daisy? You are magic!

Jammy, one of our rental companies kept loads of our deposit for cleaning because we hadn't dusted behind the radiators! I took 2 days off work to clean the house and did a bloody good job, but they had to get a cleaning company in to dust behind the fricking radiators! Twunts!

It is shit elvira, really shit. I hated renting, it never really felt like it was my home. We still rent now, but from my parents, and it was my Grandma's house. It has been in the family for about 65 years! It looks a bit different now though from when she was living here...not a doily in sight!! Some letting agents do a video inventory, so you can physically see what was there before and what wasn't.

JammyOLantern · 21/10/2008 18:02

That's really crap Elvira

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 18:39

not magic holly....just realised it's a spare one and the elbows were alreadt fitted to the toddler seat. This after I had sent an email to baby pages asking them to send me another one . Should I call them and own up or get a complete set of spares?

I have done a very silly thing this evening and charged into the end of the baby gate as it was closing and cught the underside of my bump on the metal bit. I have a big scrape and circular bruise and it fucking hurts. Virgil has gone very quiet and I have shooting pains across the bottom of my bump

I've called DH who is on his way home, and am debating whether or not to call the hospital about getting checked out but 1. I don't want to go alone, 2. I have no-one to look after the DCs and 3. I don't know where to call as I'm in the middle of changing hospitals and haven't had any confirmation through yet.

and I dripped boiling water on the top of my bump earlier as well

Can someone please just shoot me now.

arse about the renting stuff elvira. things seem much harder in the rental market these days than when I was renting.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/10/2008 19:09

poor, poor Daisy. It is hard, you remind me very much of my last weeks of PG with DD2. (avert eyes TMI alert: I had fanny snot too)

Nearly there, you are on the home stretch. It is shitsville as you can't not do any of the things you are doing with DH not around. Wish I was closer.

Elvira, renting is shit. But then so is being an owner. you have to fix shit, like roofs and boilers. At least if you rent its someone elses' problem. Swings and roundabouts innit? DP has it sorted, he is a homeowner but has his minion do it for him. Me.

Had someone come to give us a quote on fixing our conservatory roof - which has huge holes in it. But there I go again, ideas above my station, thinking and doing. Don't I know my place?

Amazon were showing Nintendo DS Lites for £37 today. Almost burst an artery trying to get one. It was an error, and they wouldn't let me buy it at that price. Fuckers.

I don't really want one, but I thought it would be rude not to at that price

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 19:18

thanks foxy

TALLULAHBELLE · 21/10/2008 19:53

Evening. Almost there Daisy - fret not.

Calendar sounds good Holly. Hope you can get lots of volunteers for pictures.

I had my hosp appt this afternoon. Was so much better than last time - well it had to be, at least they saw me this time. Got bit more info too. Babies are growing well, each about average size for 28 weeks (if there was only one, that is)- no wonder I'm so humungous. Also got a number to call to arrange couple of ante natal classes specially for multiples so that should help allay a few of my worries- maybe. Blood taken to rule out cholestasis cos of all the itching. Still got to see my GP though to get prescription for Piriton, plus painkillers for back, plus ranitidine for h/burn. Why can't a hosp doc write a prescription, doesn't make sense to have to make another appt, trail all the way to GP surgery just to tell them what another doc has said I need.

JammyOLantern · 21/10/2008 19:56

Daisy, I know I shouldn't go offering other people's services, but I was thinking that if you get really really stuck, I have a fabulous cousin who lives near Roundhay Park. He is fantastic with children (he has 2 girls and has fostered plenty of LOs) and if you needed childcare in a squeeze if you go into labour or need hospital uegently without your ILs avilable do give me a ring and I can always ask him. Can't promise anything though.
