star6 · 08/12/2008 20:13

cute little man aubergenie!
congrats on the sleep csws!!! Hooray
sorry about dd but now you can at least look forward to it happening again sometime!

So, Q went from Friday 12 poo nappies in 8 hours.... to... NO poo nappies ALL weekend long! And now, no poo nappies today either
Should I call the GP?

jenwa · 08/12/2008 20:49

Lovely pics honeymoonmummy and myjob

loulou33 · 08/12/2008 21:20

Hiya,
no star, don't bother, i took Joe as he hadn't pooed for 5 days and they said not to bother coming in unless he went more than a week without pooing, he was showing signs of distress (straining etc) or his tummy was hard. Its normal of bf babies to change their pooing habits at about 2 months as they get more settled into a feeding routine apparently. Joe went from twice a day to twice a week. Also if they have had a cold, that can affect their pooing. Hope his poo isn't too explosive when it arrives!! It sounds like he was all pood out on friday!!

Here's hoping for a good nights sleep for you CSWS

Nice piccies by the way - will add some more of Joe too

SmudgeyDoodle · 08/12/2008 21:59

Lovely pictures ladies. We're just trying to get ourselves organised to upload pictures from the camera and actually get some printed out. I'm also trying to sort out Christmas cards and shopping tomorrow whilst DS at nursery - maybe a bit ambitious???
CSWS really hope that things keep improving with the amby. Aubergine we have mixed success with the moses basket. Last night DD wasn't having any of it but the previous few nights she's been having a few 2 hours stints in there. Problem is that she goes about 3 if she's in our bed. Star it sounds like you're doing really well with expressing etc. Like others have said, don't worry about the poo because it'll even itself out. It's hard not to worry though when you know they;ve had so much to eat but nothing coming out. Better go, DD seems to want yet another feed!

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 08/12/2008 23:35

Awww what lovely pics of all the babies. I promise I will try and keep up when the new thread is started

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/12/2008 10:28

Lovely pics Aubergenie, but he looks like a diff baby in the two of them!

star - I agree with loulou, so no I wouldn't phone GP.

Had ds weighed this morning. Now 5.9kg/13lbs, so still gaining well. Have his first injections later this morning, so not looking forward to that.

Only managed 2 hrs in the Amby last night, and I was coughing for the first hour of that (which kept disturbing him too). Dh got up to go out at 4am, and said he'd switched the alarm off (I woke him a couple of mins before it was due), but whatever buttons he'd pressed hadn't turned it off, so I then had to disturb ds to deal with that too . And he didn't wish me a happy anniversary before he left.

Aubergenie · 09/12/2008 11:40

He does doesn't he CSWS! In the first one he'd only just got back to his birth weight so looks quite delicate. He's chubbing up nicely now though. It's funny as he looks exactly like his dad (except he's got more hair!) and nothing like me but we've just noticed that he's getting my dimples, so I'm really pleased.

Happy anniversary from me. I know it's not quite the same as coming from your DH...

Shame you only managed 2 hours in the Amby, but that's still an improvement on 10 minutes. I'm so tempted to get one. Do you put him in there asleep, or do you rock him to sleep in it?

ronshar · 09/12/2008 13:08

My sister's DS was constipated when he was 4 months old. The pharmasist suggested Gripe water and the GP suggested she drink lots of apple juice. As it turned out her DS exploded while on the GP's couch. Luckily the GP was young and had good sense of humour.

All great here. DS finally seems to be settling into a nice routine. Just getting him to go up to bed at 8.30 is brilliant. I sat watching Spooks with no child and bra less. Excellent.

Sad news for WTAP.

heather1980 · 09/12/2008 15:39

have just uploaded some pics of alex to my profile

jenwa · 09/12/2008 16:12

aubergenie and heather lovely pics.
I have uploaded 2 more.

DD weighed today, she is now 11 4!!!! She was 9 14 two weeks ago so putting it on .

Tired today, even though she is doing well, had bottle 9pm and slept til 2.30 then fed again at 6:30, although when I took her out of crib at 2:30 I put a wheat bag in to keep it warm and when she went back in she never appeared to sleep well as was coughing and appeared to be wretching, could it be the smell of the bag? I wont put it in again as she seemed uncomfy, I thought it would make her bed nice and warm and the lavander would help her go back to sleep

Had forgotten that immunisations can make babies calmer/sleepier. Actually got some sleep last night, with ds beside me swaddled and on his tummy for the first stint, which was over 4 hours for him . Bit hit and miss after that, but he stayed asleep whilst dd and I had a bath this morning, which was a big help with a harmonious getting ready for school.
He then managed to stay fairly happily awake for 3 hours this morning, which is much longer than usual, so the extra sleep obviously did him good.

Got newborn hearing screening this afternoon - it's all go!

please help... been in tears for past two hours my friend who looks after ds while im at work said he cried and was inconsolable all day long!! I get him back at 3.45. She took him at 8am. He was ok midday when I came to feed him (11am) but cried the rest.
he's drooling a lot... teething? he's 9 weeks! He burps well... but could it be colic?
Or.... am I just a monster of a mummy for going back to work at 9 weeks?? i guess he would sleep 5 minthen be up crying!

star6 · 10/12/2008 18:16

oh and it's def nothing to do with my friend... she is the BEST mother in the entire world.... seriously, she is. She's great with him. this is two days now that he's had like this...

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/12/2008 18:43

star you are definitely NOT a monster mummy. You have reasons for going back to work early.

It's too late for colic to start, but it could be teething, a growth spurt, a headache, too hot, too cold, wind, tummyache, wet/dirty nappy, overtired, ear infection or missing mummy. Most of the time parenting is just educated guesswork! If you suspect teething then try a little bonjela to see if it helps.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/12/2008 18:44

How was he once you got him back and during the evening?

OP posts:
star6 · 10/12/2008 19:30

csws he was content when I arrived... fussed when I took him and held him Then I fed him... he latched RIGHT on! And he fell asleep. Brought him home... he took a small feed (rest of ebm from the day) from dh, then drifted to sleep in my arms, but kept waking, staring at me, then drifting back to sleep... finally now he's sleeping very heavily on his cot mattress.. I held him for about a half hour after he fell asleep.
He had lots of ear wax today even though I bathe him and clean the daily... could that be a sign of ear infection?

star6 · 10/12/2008 19:45

What do they do for an ear infection? Any home remedies taht I could try? I really, really, really do not like the idea of giving him medicine.
I will be expressing like an oversized dairy cow tonight as he has eaten almost ALL of the milk I have left at my friend's house for him!!! He must be growth spurting now because he's eating loads and loads... And I just really don't want him to have formula. Sorry to be such a downer... I feel emotionally lower than I did the first two weeks when I was certain I had mild pnd... could this be the same?

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/12/2008 19:47

You don't clean inside his ears do you star?
From what you've described I'd say that he was overtired. Both mine get really worked up and hysterical when tired, and it can be hard to bring them back from the brink. Has your friend had practice at getting Q off to sleep without you before?

OP posts:
star6 · 10/12/2008 19:50

yes she has... but usually accomplished through feeding... that's the only way he goes to sleep! piglet!
overtired sounds very possible.
yeah...I just swipe the cloth around the inside of his ear - not in the little hole, but the parts you can see... should I not? oh no!!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 10/12/2008 20:16

Oh star that's really hard for you. I think we'll all have had plenty of days when our LOs won't be consoled but it must be really hard to hear that he's had time like that and you weren't there (he might not have settled even if you were so don't beat yourself up). My DD pretty much only goes to sleep through feeding too. Problem is she keeps throwing it back up at the moment and then wants more. CSWS how has the rest of your day been? I've had a lovely day. I put DD into DS bed when he got up from his nap and she then slept for about an hour. I think she likes the warmth. I had thought about putting a hot water bottle type thing in her moses basket before I put her in like Jenwa - let me know how it goes. OK, Christmas shopping. I've got about an hour tomorrow to try and get myself sorted. We've made cards with DS handprints on for quite a few people and only have a few pressies to get but it still seems a giant task!

Oh yes that sounds fine re ear star - was worried for a moment that you were poking stuff right in.

Rest of day was pretty good smudgey, except that hearing screening had to be abandoned because they were running half an hour late, and then ds wouldn't keep still long enough in the very limited time that was left before needing to leave to get dd from school.

Off to bed soon, so keeping fingers crossed for another long stretch.

Chuckle sounds like something to look forward to myjob, and def know what you mean about missing quality time with older dc.
