Nice to hear from you Womb.

CSWS, she is getting better. If she's already asleep she'll let me put her on the mattress long enough for me to have a shower. She sleeps well at night, but only cos she's in the king size bed with me with DH in the single in the nursery! I worry about her co-sleeping with me...

He's too worried about rolling onto her. She has already started to wriggle herself closer and closer to me as the night goes on so she's REALLY close to me when I wake up. I am sleeping with a duvet just over my legs and a baby blanket over my upper half but still worry about it. I would rather she had been the model baby and lay in her moses basket with the sensor mat underneath - meh

Honeymoonmummy · 05/12/2008 22:16

Oh and have to share this...the other day I managed to get her to vomit milk out of her nose and eye!!! She started to be sick and in an attempt to get her away from the pillow I moved her head back - big mistake!!
The Bad Mum Award goes to...

DH gave her her first expressed bottle feed the other day, it was kind of sad when she took it! Altho she did drink it (only 2oz) then immediately demanded boob for another 30 mins!! I'm scared her first word is gonna be "boob", its all I seem to say to her...

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/12/2008 07:48

Ah yes, I had the same concerns about co-sleeping the first time round, but I've had to relax about it a bit this time. We all sleep in the same bed, but dh and I have separate duvets.

Good to hear from you womb.
Did any of you see WTAP's thread yesterday too? She has split with her dh since having the baby .

Ds slept for 1.5hrs in the Amby last night . Not long, but a huge step for us.

We'll need a new thread soon ladies!

Anyone had a growth spurt around 8 weeks? Ds been feeding every 1.5-2 hours for the last 36 hours or so, which is even more than his usual frequent schedule.

Have fun tomorrow myjob.

Naomi is beautiful Myjob!

Good news about half hours of sleep CSWS. How did D get on in the Amby last night?

I don't know what to do about our sleeping arrangements. I'm co-sleeping at the moment, which is working well. DS wakes approximately every 2-3 hours for a feed, but I never have to worry about soothing or settling so I don't feel particularly tired. The trouble is I keep wondering whether I should be encouraging him to self soothe or sleep on his own, and i'm worrying that I'm storing up problems for later on. He will nap for short periods in his moses basket, but won't sleep in it at night. I was considering an Amby as well as it seems like a lovely way to sleep and I thought that he might start doing for longer stretches in it and get used to sleeping on his own. Ho hum. It seems that whoever you speak to, they have a different opinion and it's so difficult to know what to do.

Honeymoonmummy · 07/12/2008 11:04

I'm in the same boat as you Aubergenie. I'm considering a co-sleeper cot. There's the Arms Reach which is smaller and I dont think you can use that as a proper cot so not v cost effective; then there's a Mothercare cot with a side that drops away completely and one by Cosatto.

We haven't bought a cot yet, so we could go for any of them, but I dont know whether paying a bit more for a co-sleeper cot is a waste of money when normal cots have a drop side anyway? Does anyone have any experience of this?

Loving the Xmas emoticons, might just have to get the decorations down from the loft today...

Aubergenie · 07/12/2008 11:27

I'm glad it's not just me Honeymoon! I was considering the arms reach too. The Cosatto is a bit big for our room. The co-sleeper mini is nice but the height isn't adjustable and it's too high for our bed, but the regular co-sleeper is adjustable. I think they can both be used as a normal cot. Expensive though aren't they. A friend of mine just adapted a regular Ikea cot, I'll have to find out how they did it.

I have to admit to being quite taken with the Amby idea as well now. It could solve the space issue for a while too. Hmm, I wish you could hire them and try them out...

Honeymoonmummy · 07/12/2008 11:48

I know Aubergenie, hire would be REALLY useful, would have saved us money on a moses!!! Let me know about your friend.

Love the pics MyJob, you inspired me to post some pics of Poppy

star6 · 07/12/2008 12:02

very cute honeymoonmummy and myjob Gorgeous little girls!
How much does the amby cost?

Honeymoonmummy · 07/12/2008 13:14

I think from memory its somewhere between £100 and £150 Star...?

I managed to express 3oz this morning

Honeymoonmummy · 07/12/2008 13:35

God, Poppy has now been eating for 3 and a half hours straight, give or take a nappy change!!! My poor nipples!

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/12/2008 14:40

Lovely pics ladies. The 9 week one is stunning myjob.

No joy with the Amby last night at all.
star - it costs too much! By the time I'd bought a couple of fitted sheets too, and paid for next day delivery, it was about £180 .

Aubergenie · 07/12/2008 21:51

Lovely pictures!

Sorry to hear that about the Amby CSWS. I hope tonight's a better one for you.

DS is havign a feeding frenzy at the moment. He's been feeding constantly since about 6 this evening and goes mad if you try to stop for a second. My nipples are raw. DP has also just given him a 5oz bottle of milk which he attacked like he'd not been fed for ages. It must be the 9 week growth spurt.

Also, he's very dribbly and foamy at the mouth, and has been gumming DP's finger all day (when not feeding). We had some friends over and one of them said she thought he could be teething. I thought they didn't do that until much later? Is it possible this early?

Have a good night everybody!

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/12/2008 07:52

Teething can start anytime Aubergenie (some babies are born with teeth already). I've been wondering whether ds might be a little too. Was going to put some bonjela on to see if it did anything, but it had all dried up since I last used it.

2.5 hrs in the Amby last night. If only dd hadn't decided to get up twice during that time!

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 08/12/2008 11:11

That's brilliant CSWS!

Aubergenie it sounds like the symptoms of teething. I read on another MN thread that you can get gauze(?) that you rub on their gums so its less painful when the teeth come thro? I'll have a look see if I saved the thread...

Aubergenie · 08/12/2008 11:41

Great progress CSWS! Shame about DD but small steps...

Gosh I didn't know they could teethe so early! Thanks for the link Honeymoon. I'll check out the gauze.

Ekka · 08/12/2008 12:02

Great news about the Amby last night csws, lets hope its the turning point for your ds....

Aubergenie - it could be teething, or at least the start of it, but you may have a while to go. DD started that at about 3 months, but only got her 1st teeth at 11 months. She still only has 7 at 18mths!

Ds has another cold. He's so snuffly & woke up in the night with a chesty cough. Dh & dd seem to have it too & I'm getting a scratchy throat.... We're not a very healthy household at the moment

Aubergenie · 08/12/2008 13:13

I should be sorting out all my online Christmas shopping, but instead I've been messing around on MN. Anyway, I've been inspired by all your pics to put a couple of photos of DS up on my profile.
