loulou why is Joe having to have a blood transfusion?

CSWS I did swaddle Sander for the first week or so and he was quite good but he just loves his hands waving in front of his face. He also seems to sleep with his right hand above his head, must have been in the womb like that.

Does anyone know what green poo means? William has been doing the usual yellow til this afternoon, now it is green! Very strange.

star6 · 15/10/2008 23:56

ronshar hopefully someone like csws will be able to clarify but I think my bf counsellor and someone on here said it had to do with not getting enough 'hind milk'. Quinlan has had a green nappy or two but i'm always comforted when goes back to yellow next time. Is he feeding long enough?

star6 · 16/10/2008 03:23

just took 30 min for ds to latch on!!! why???

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/10/2008 08:27

Star is right that that's one poss reason ronshar, but tiktok always says not to worry about the whole fore/hind milk thing.

star - hard to say without more info, but some possibilities are not hungry, got wind, breasts too full, picking up on stress from you. Have you asked on your other thread too?

ronshar · 16/10/2008 09:38

Cheers girls. That makes perfect sense.
The little monkey is messing about with the latching on and is on off all the time. So it is likely he is only getting a little bit of the hind and lots of fore.
When he was wieghed on Monday he had only lost 70grams. He is due to be weighed tomorrow so we shall see if he has lost any more.

twinklytoes · 16/10/2008 09:49

morning all. long night last night. ds eventually settled to sleep at 3.35 and promptly woke at 4 for another feed then didn't settle again till 5.30. feeling tired but mum is coming up so looking forward to a mid morning nap.

on the other hand the early start helped get me organised and we were in school for 8am queuing for the annual family picture! ds wore his first "proper" outfit for the occasion - will back to rompers and sleepsuits when he wakes!

purpleflower · 16/10/2008 11:49

Good Morning.

DP goes back to work tomorrow

I'm not worried at all about DD but DS has been quite difficult with me, I'm hoping things go back to what they were. He has decided that he only does what he is told when DP tells him, not me. I couldn't even get him down for a nap Please someone with more than 1 tell me it will be ok.

loulou33 · 16/10/2008 15:51

CSWS - The blood transfusion is for the rhesus sensitivity thing - not connected to reflux - hope Duncan doesn't have silent reflux, its horrible. I'm convinced Joe doesn't have reflux but is just greedy (6 ozs gained in 3 DAYS for gods sake) and then sicks up what he doesn't want. He likes to eat all the time he's awake, which is most of the day and also has a bit of wind which forces milk out at high speed - nice!!

Lozza Joe has different blood group to me as i'm rhesus neg and he's pos. he had a knock during pg (probably when neighbour's dog jumped up at me) and this made his blood cross the placenta. My blood then made antibodies against his and these try to kill of his blood cells. This causes jaundice and anaemia and he has these antibodies i nhis system for up to 12 weeks after birth. They decided yesterday that his haemoglobin is now too low and so he needs a top up of blood which is being couriered from glasgow on Monday am.

DH is being featured in local lifestyle magazine for xmas issue so we all had to appear in photos yesterday for the feature. It was a nightmare getting us all ready and keeping joe sick free. The photos looked lovely on camera so i can't wait to see the article.

got to go Joe awake....

loulou33 · 16/10/2008 15:52

ooh - before i go - anyone using a baby sling to carry lo around? If so, are they any good and which one do you use??

I tried one in a shop and Joe was all squashed up in it (he was then sick not suprisingly) - maybe i waas using it wrong....

Boo for your long night twinkly.

Purpleflower - it's tough for the older ones to accept the new arrivals, but I'm sure it will settle down in a while.

loulou - how funny that you should ask about slings. Duncan has spent most of the day asleep in his, and I was going to post tonight to say how pleased with it I am. We have the close baby carrier, and he's been in position 1 for all of his naps today. It's been very comfy for me walking about with him in it. Just hoping he'll still sleep tonight after barely being awake all day!

I can confirm that pregnancy brain hasn't cleared here yet. DD weed in her knickers in town this afternoon, so as we were right by Next I popped in to get some new knickers and tights. Got her to the parent room to change her to discover that I'd bought vests instead instead of knickers - doh! The trip into town was wasted too, as none of the mobile phone shops had the phone that we went to look at - grrr.

I was going to get it in pistachio, but it was out of stock where I wanted to get it from, and then I discovered that it now comes in chocolate colour, which co-ordinates better with both mine and dh's clothes, as well as seeming more wintery.

star6 · 16/10/2008 23:02

ooh i want one of those!! adorable baby csws!!

Aubergenie · 16/10/2008 23:07

That's funny - some friends just clubbed together and bought me the Close baby carrier (in charcoal - I like your brown one though CSWS) and I just tried it out for the first time today. It took a while to feel confident that I was putting in on right, but once I got the hang of it, it was great. I can see me using it a lot around the house and out and about.

Loulou - DP bought a babasling at the weekend but I found that ds is completely lost in it and really scrunched up as well, so I haven't used it. Apparently they're good for carrying toddlers in though, so hopefully it's not money wasted.

Aubergenie · 16/10/2008 23:08

Sorry - I also meant to say I hope it all went well today Loulou. What a horrible thing to have to go through.

Lozza70 · 17/10/2008 01:59

Hi loulou hope the transfusion went okay.

the "fortress" is not working - dd2 just climbed in, grabbed sam and somehow put him on the armchair - he was screaming so have to guess she put him there with a bit of force . I'd only gone upstairs for a wee. really don't have the back to be carrying him all day but I mightjust need a sling too.

ds much more settled now, has had a feed and isn't drifting off to sleep so hopefully no damage.

loulou33 · 17/10/2008 14:31

Hi all,

You've all made me think i've missed a few days - Joe's transfusion is Monday not today but you made me think it was monday today and i was very late for his appt - cheers!!!

I have bought a sling off ebay that is very similar to close one (called cleb sling i think) as can't afford £50 but may get desparate.

Finally got Joe to have lunchtime nap at same time as DS1 so had hour and half to myself - nice!! Joe slept for 6 hours last night from 8pm to 2am before waking for feed then was up for 3hours but you can't have everything.

loulou33 · 17/10/2008 14:32

ooh csws - Duncan looks just like you - weird how genetics works heh?
