9-1 is still good progress from a few days ago though star.
ds managed a 4 hour sleep (on dh) last night - hurrah . Dd unfortunately got up at stupid o clock though, the same as she did yesterday. Got her back to bed (after a tantrum where she hit dh repeatedly) until 6:15, and then conceded that we may as well get up.

star6 · 26/10/2008 07:58

haha csws - the 9-1 sleep was again on dh here, too! He just cant put him down. I think he really likes that cuddle time with ds.

loulou33 · 26/10/2008 11:23

Bloody clock changing - i thought ds1 had done sooo weeel this morning to sleep until 7.15am having gone to bed at 8pm but then realised it was 6.15am bugger bugger bugger - now seemes hours til afternoon sleep time.....

loulou yeah that is a loooooong time! are you injecting sleeping pills into his feeds?

myjob - naomi's 9 hours is amazing, too! HOW did you do that??? PLEASE share your tips.
awful about the pump what kind of pump do you use?

star6 · 26/10/2008 17:21

Any good ideas to get a baby of 3 weeks to not scream his head off every time we do a nappy change? Any advice greatly appreciated

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/10/2008 17:23

Err ladies, loulou said ds1 slept that long, not Joe!

I am injured today. Was wanting to warm up my bath a bit this morning so that ds could come in at the end, but forgot to switch water to go to tap instead of bathside shower spray, so ended up spraying scalding hot water in my face. In my panic to get away from the burning water (don't ask why I didn't just turn the water off!) I leapt out of the (very high) bath onto the floor, bashing myself on the edge of the bath and the toilet in the process, and gained an instant huge bruise on my shin, another on the top of my foot, and a lump in my knee that is still agonising, as well as a face that didn't stop stinging from the scalding until late afternoon. What a muppet!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/10/2008 17:26

Are you doing it straight after a feed star? If so, make absolutely sure he's not got wind, as that's a sure fire way to get ds screaming. Otherwise, just patience until he gets used to it.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 26/10/2008 17:28

Actually star, didn't you say that he had bad nappy rash? That could be making him scream. What are you using to cure it?

OP posts:
star6 · 26/10/2008 17:34

csws Sorry.... that story is sad but comical to imagine! Poor you, though, that's awful!

ohhhh, ds1. That makes sense. I thought she had superbaby!!

Using sudocrem. It seems to be improving... I wind him immediately after each feed. As soon as I lay him down for the change he screams like we're stabbing him with needles or something!

star6 · 26/10/2008 17:35

btw been bfing ds literally ALL DAY. 3 wk growth spurt i'm sure but so exhausted!!

pepperrabbit · 26/10/2008 18:50

csws oh dear, you do seem to have been in the wars!
I am feeling infinitesimally better today, my big aim is to have enough mobility to wash my hair tomorrow! MW came and they are sooo nice, DD got signed off but they need a couple more visits for me apparently. Am hoping to avoid the tues trip to hosp and am drinking gallons of water and dutifully taking abs (I took one lot at 3am this morning to spread them properly!)
I really really want to be able to move comfortably again (and go out/drive/reach my feet etc)
OK whinge over - at least I can Mnet without guilt!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/10/2008 21:30

Evening all, sounds like all the new babies are getting on well. Aside from nappy rash etc.

Anyone else have a newborn with a cold? Dd2 is 1 week 1 day today and she is very snotty poor love. I am not surprised with my snotty son and daughter breathing and coughing around/ over her this week.

I am still laid low with mastitis spent most of weekend in bed and am taking all the available drugs. I do think I am finally getting better but am so tired!

Really want to make sure Polly recovers from this cold as soon as possible so any tips would be appreciated - she is sleeping on my chest at the moment and I may spend much of night trying to keep her elevated. I will also try saline drops. Her tiny littlr nostrils must b so easily congested poor love.

Sorry can't offer much advice on changing nappies Star except say what works for us. We use water and cotton wool for wiping (nice warm water as babies sensitive to cold) - try and keep things quick as possible (that requires practice of which i have had plenty and dd1 is still in nappies as well) - keep lights low at night and warm hands before touching baby (I have to do that as my terrible circulation means my hands are often icey which is enough to set dd2 off crying straight away!).

I am falling asleep agin now as I type all weekend I have felt like someone with narcolepsy - better bloody improve soon!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/10/2008 21:33

BTW poor you Pepperrabbit - I feel guilty for moaning about mastitis

star6 · 27/10/2008 04:30

Poor polly and you bmsa I hope both of you feel better soon.

After ds's 6 hour sleep I woke with engorged breasts and for some reason pump not working, so i hand expressed enough for him to latch on the left and put bottle on my lap to hand express the right. I got 50 ml in 10 min!!!! Record for me by far... but then a loud motorcycle drove by and startled baby and now milk is all over the floor I was looking fwd to freezing that!

hi all,

have been laid low by vomiting bug which dh now has - feel as weak as a kitten and not eaten a thing for over 24 hours. Have managed to keep some water down today but can't bear the thought of eating. joe had had several green poos but gp not concerned about him and thinks he may have had a small dose of the same bug. he has been eating continuously today and i guess my milk is pretty crap quality but can't bear to eat in case i'm sick again.....must go and make tea for ds1...what a joy...

star6 · 27/10/2008 18:24

OH MY GOD JUST DROPPED SMALL PIECE OF HOT PUMPKIN PIE AND BIT LANDED ON QUINLAN'S FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He cried of course... he was surprised but after wiping with cold water, looks ok... but maybe I should call dr just in case?? ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2008 20:02

He's a bit young for weaning star . Seriously, there's nothing a doctor will do if it looks fine.

Hope you feel better tomorrow loulou. I'm sure your milk will be just fine - it will give all the nutrients to ds and just leave you short.

at 6 hour sleep. Ds didn't manage more than 2 hours last night, and mostly only did 1.25 hr stretches.

Hi all, - our little baby boy was born on Friday 24th October at 2.25pm, a home waterbirth with a little bit of gas & air! He weighs 7lb 15oz (3.6kg), but we've yet to give him a name....

We're all doing well, though I'm knackered as baby seems to sleep all evening then feed at least every hour all night .

Congratulations on all the new babies. I've not had a chance to catch up with everything as dd is teething and has a lovely temp and cold so things are a little crazy here at the moment.

pepperrabbit · 27/10/2008 20:48

BMSA hope the mastitis is beginning to clear, I remember how miserable that was with DS1.
Star - I'm sure Quinlan will be fine if his face seems clear.
Loulou how miserable for you! hope you feel better soon.
I get my test results tomorrow apparently to identify my kidney infection , and DD has her first HV visit so busy here on the medical front, then a doctors appt on wed which will be the first time I've left the house in a week except to go to hospital

pepperrabbit · 27/10/2008 20:49

congratulations Ekka!

All these babies coming so fast!! Amazing how quick labour can be!

I'm glad no one can track you down in RL on MN... dh knocking ds head on coffee table, me dropping hot food on his face.... we'd be taken in for questioning! On sunday I even forgot to give him a bath! I cleaned him extra well on Monday
