Seeing as it's a quiet time...

Paro, really sorry to hear you're feeling down. Sleep deprivation definitely does nasty things to your mind . I broke out in a rash today and managed to convince myself I had measles - drove myself to the doctor's and broke down in the surgery because I thought Alex would get measles from me and I would lose him . Definitely need a good night's sleep .

Neenz, totally agree with you about the weaning threads - scary! Feeding your LO is so emotive isn't it? I feel the same about the bf threads - if you're ff your baby or dare to wean before 26 wks you get the feeling there are women on there who think you're an unfit mother . Alex has been really unsettled at night, but not eating much during the day so I think it's teeth rather than needing to wean, but I'm taking it one week at a time.

As for the wedding anniversaries - what an amazing coincidence that three of you got married on the same day! With June births it's not exactly as if they were "celebrating anniversary" babies - and 23rd Oct is not an espceially popular day to get married which makes it even more spooky!

Thank you soooo much sponge lovely to have you guys around and convince me im not going mad!!!

Just been out for walk with fleur and dp to see the waves and have posted some pics and videos on the blog. For some reason Fleur has an obsession with my crocs everytime she sees them she gets excited and talks to them

Heres the blog

spongebrainbigpants · 24/10/2008 19:05

Paro, that's soooo cute! Where you live looks like paradise - you lucky thing!

Your LO is gorgeous x

Amberc · 24/10/2008 19:54

Paro - Not sleeping causes all sorts of mental health problems - but nothing that cannot be cured by rest. It's a kind of torture. The doc gave me anti depressants but I haven't noticed any difference and that is becasue as I told the doctor - I am not depressed! I always feel so much better after the night nanny has been as I have had a good night's sleep and life seems much more bearable. There's nothing wrong with you sweetheart, don't worry my mum always said 'no human condition is ever permanent' (socrates) and she was right. I am hoping for change and I know the little blighter can't stay awake forever! Me - well I feel that horrid tight ball of anxiety in my tummy all the time and I get the painful jaw muscles from tension.

I am not getting married! Just laughed at DP's comment about being stuck with me.

Allnew - after doing the crying thing it took 3 days for Luke to just fall asleep which lasted for ages but he's playing up again now - I do have to piss about a bit and he does go off eventually after about 10 mins.

Essie I would expect you to come if I got married naturally!

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 19:59

Gorgeous Paro! - hope you get some sleep soon.

Spongebrain, yeah, know what you mean, some people on MN are frightening! Like to think I hold my own though even though I weaned at 22 weeks .

My two are down here again keeping us company when they should be in bed. They are no trouble, just sit here in their chairs, but I am going to have to get tough (I have heard myself say that before though).

It seems I should think myself lucky tho cos mine have been sleeping through since 11 and 13 weeks. They might not go to bed till 10-11 but they sleep till 8am then. What is happening with all the babies who don't sleep through - I mean what are the sleep/feed routines? Perhaps one of us can help with a few suggestions?

spongebrainbigpants · 24/10/2008 20:00

Aww, Amber, I'm disappointed - was about to go out and buy a hat!

spongebrainbigpants · 24/10/2008 20:05

Neenz, I thought you defended your position very well - but there are some real die hards on that weaning thread who just won't listen to anyone else's point of view !

As for sleeping through, Alex was sleeping through from 5 weeks (oh, those halcyon days! ), but in the last week has picked up his 2am/3am feed again which is killing cos I can't then get back to sleep (he goes straight back to sleep, no messing!).

Don't think there's anything I can do to change it right now but if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears!

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 20:38

How old is he spongebrain? Have you introduced solids . Personally I would just keep feeding him, I know that is what I have always done with my two. Can totally sympathise with you tho, both mine were up at 3am the other day so it was 30 mins awake for me... killer (how DID I manage in the early days???)

At least we can have a sensible conversation about weaning here without some of the know-alls from the weaning thread jumping in. I mean, some of them behave like it is something to be proud of to get up every two hours in the night to feed their (starving) five-month-old rather than give some pureed sweet potato (I have never heard of anyone allergic to sweet potato).

When I look at the weaning thread now and see people who, like me, try to argue their position, but I can't even be bothered to stick up for them now cos you can't win with those people, they just will not accept that any baby needs solids before six months.

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 20:41

In fact, I am going to go back there now to look at the thread I posted on, cos I didn't even follow it to the end (it dropped off my threads i'm on cos I went to sis's wedding all last weekend).

I am in the danger zone tho cos am now on my second glass of wine!

Amberc · 24/10/2008 20:51

Have just posted two lovely pics of Luke - I managed to get one of him laughing and the other is of his first taste of baby rice. His expression says it all...

goingfor3 · 24/10/2008 20:52

Lovely video Paro Fleur is a real sweetie!

Neenz are you trying to post on every weaning thread tonight!!!!

goingfor3 · 24/10/2008 20:53

Lovely big grin amber !

spongebrainbigpants · 24/10/2008 20:55

Step away from the weaning threads girl!!

Alex is 19 weeks on Sunday so I'm hoping to wait a little longer for the solids.

Amber, love the photos!

Amberc · 24/10/2008 21:02

Thanks ladies - so hard to get nice baby pics as they are just so interested in the camera! Paro - Fleur is mega cute too!

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 21:34

Yeah I think I have posted on EVERY thread.

There is not so much extremism tonight - one woman there weaned at 23 weeks

Very cute Amber!

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 21:48

Have posted some new pics myself - can't believe how much DS has changed since nine weeks old!

Rolf · 24/10/2008 22:06

Paro, Amber and Neenz - gorgeous photos (and video). They are all so beautiful aren't they?

We've been at a wedding today and I've just got back - I thought I could stay for a bit longer but DD1 was very tired and frazzled, and DD2 was getting the same way so DH has stayed there with the boys and I came home with the girls!

spongebrainbigpants · 24/10/2008 22:12

Neenz, cute pics.

I've posted one of Alex wearing his new ear defenders (we're going to the footie next month!). He just has the cutest little face - that chin is just so sweet and pointy!

Neenztwinz · 24/10/2008 22:35

wow, cute pic sponge - which footie match?

i have started going to watch man city again, it is bliss - five hours away from dts!!

debinaustria · 24/10/2008 22:58

Paro - how are you feeling? I hope you get some decent sleep tonight.I love the video of Fleur, she's gorgeous

Amber - What a smile Luke's got.

Sponge - that is one great photo

Neenz - lovely photos of your dt's, haven't they gorgeous eyes and Theo still has much more hair than Esther, do they have the same colour hair?

Did you enjoy the wedding Rolf - and how was the Tango girl???

spongebrainbigpants · 25/10/2008 09:06

Thanks Neenz and deb - we're going to watch Reading, our local team. I'm a Gunner but I'm not forking out for tickets to The Emirates until Alex is old enough to appreciate it!

whinegums · 25/10/2008 09:38

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, despite the appalling weather. We're confined to barracks today, no way I am going out in that!

Laura and Katyjo, lovely to see you again. Katy, Hamish is lovely, and no need to apologise, you weren't like a weirdo at all!! I am impressed with how you were managing to be honest! If it helps, maybe you could suggest the next time and place for a meet up? I know, I feel I didn't get a chance to talk to you at all this time.

I keep thinking about that old bag who insisted on squeezing in next to us, and laughing about the grumpy old bat!

Paro, I hope you feel better - a decent sleep makes such a difference, even getting your head down for a bit during the day can help.

spongebrainbigpants · 25/10/2008 09:46

whinegums, sorry to hear you're confined to barracks - it's gorgeous here, but I think the bad weather is heading our way tomorrow!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 25/10/2008 10:09

Tis lovely here today as well, DH gone shooting so left me with the sprogs and guests, breakfast is done, just clearing away and then a nice day not doing much ahead of us.

Ended up in A&E last night, GP sent me with what he described as an ovarian incident, 2 pregnancy tests managed to rule out an ectopic pregnancy but a bit worried for a while, I did discharge myself at 10pm as hadn't been seen by a doctor even hough they were expecting me and got there at 7pm, so still no nearer to finding out what is wrong, I suspect it may be scar tissue.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Enjoy the footbal Sponge

Rolf · 25/10/2008 11:25

5gomad - blimey, that sounds scary. Hope you're ok.

Sponge - gorgeous picture!

Deb - we had a great time, thanks. Tango girl is still a bit orange, but splodgy, like badly applied fake tan! I've postponed the passport pictures! Actually, Neenz - we're going to be in Formby today - do you know if there's anywhere in the village that does passport pics? (ie a human not a booth?)
