Hi makecakes! They look lovely, but £££!

neenz, do you need to use those happy nappy things, or just something like huggies swimmers?

fungle · 23/10/2008 13:53

Allnew - I have used both huggies and reusables. I'd go with a reusable, Jojo maman do good ones. The disposables are expensive and don't look as comfy.
Neenz - Isla woke up soaked this morning too, hasn't happened in ages, and she did'nt drink anymore than usual She did sleep a bit better last night with a bit of calpol before bed.
It is just awash with bodily fluids here today....DD1 missed the loo this morning.....had to wash the bathroom rug. Isla's nappy leaked....Change cot sheet and waterproof matress thingy and sleeping bag and sleepsuit. Isla also very milk sicky at the moment, think it may be due to a lot of mucus(grim TMI sorry!) So had to change top/cardi 3 times so far, plus LO's top!
I feel bad, so far Isla has just been sleeping in a sleepsuit and sleeping bag maybe thats why she wakes up...cold!
Will put more layers on tonight see if that helps.
Good mummy halo for me today, have just finished making and decorating butterfly cakes for DD1's school cake sale thing tomorrow

Hello all

Glad better nights were had, still waking at 3am amd 4am here no idea why cause we were sleeping through til 6am!

(HELLO PUREE AND NEENZ! Glad to see you)

Q´s for those of you weaning or those who done it already or those who know!!
Fleur eats at 4am 7am 10am 1.30pm 4.30pm 7.30 pm and 11pm She has some speciall biscuiits they have over here mixed with a bit of milk at 10am and then a puree at 1.30pm. My q´s are How much milk do yoour LO´s drink when having a puree I was wondering if fleur took enough and im still wondering if Fleurs (poo) schedule is ok!! Every 4 days and 3 attemps wonder if this normal for a starter on solids baby
Just wondering if we are doing ok and still having enough milk etc. By the way she loves apple pear sweet potato annd butternut squash at mo not so keen on banana though!!

pureeandpearls · 23/10/2008 15:11

Allnew- I know, very expensive but I figure you only need one from birth to 18 months and all year round, so actually they work out quite cheap compared to friend who have various size 'zippy bags' (as they are known in the PP house) in various togs!

When swimming I use a reusable from JOjo with a disposable underneath- a bit paranoid, and baby PP has such a small bum that the reusables won't stay on without padding!!!

Paro- baby PP seemed to drink less for a while when she started weaning, so I mixed the leftover milk in with her food, which she wolfed. Now we're three weeks in, she's guzzling food and bottles most days. It does fluctuate though.

Happy anniversary Essie and Five! I wonder if Dp will ever pop the question to me. He does tell me he is probably lumbered with me now - how romantic! Also as we are not moving any more perhaps we can afford to get married.

PP - yes we still have the night nanny 2 nights a week thank god. He has been as moody with her so not just me! He did sleep till 5 though before going mad last night (that was the night she was here obviously). Thanks for all the sympathy guys.

We put Luke in a 2.5 grobag and a long sleeved suit. The bag has detatchable arms but he screamed when we tried to put his arms in so I took them off.

Luke went to nursery today and drew a picture - some squiggle with a blue pen and a bit with red but I nearly cried when I saw it!!!! They are doing hand and foot prints tomorrow so I will be sure to take tissues with me as I know i'll blub .

Oh blimey - I am going to buy a Maclaren XT I think as I am so fed up with the M&P pramette. It doesn't fold up very well and a bit has fallen off it. Waiting for the part which they sent me today - a screw but no nut to hold it on - blimmin heck! I can't believe I am going to get one so soon but Luke looks completely squashed in the pramette. I can't believe they are meant to go up to 3 yrs. If only I'd known before. Looked on ebay and there don't seem to be any buyers for used ones.

hedgehog1979 · 23/10/2008 18:09

allnew i have a reusable swim nappy and on of these although i got it in tesco. it is great as Isaac kicks his legs and moves around the pool by himself too. Like neenz he is now happy to be dunked too

pleasechange · 23/10/2008 19:35

Thanks all for the swimming suggestions!

Having a noisy day here today with A crying. I can see his 2 top front teeth clearly through his gums - although I've no idea if that means it could still take ages for them to come through. Either way they're clearly causing him discomfort poor thing

poppy34 · 23/10/2008 20:05

hiya quick post as been away for few days so apologies if miss anyone (taking advantage while people asleep -dh has bene very sick indeed which is unlike him and am hoping its something he ate rather than a bug iyswim -mind you he has been ill for 2 days and not right since weekend so suspect it is him bring run down/something he ate rather than something we're going to catch) amber good chocie of pushchair - I've got one and its fab - very little to break.. having been a bit when sawother swanky ones not loooked back since.

edie very off her milk -fine in every other way just really losing interest and playing (even when try bigger size teat) but is VERY keen now on watching us eat ... so starting baby rice tomorrow (she'll be 17 weeks and one day). has anyone else had this boredom factor creep in (she'll have one good feed a day now but rest of time just playing and she was hitherto a right glugger).

5gomad/essie| happy anniversary

Neenztwinz · 23/10/2008 20:08

Just Huggies swimmers I used... they are expensive (£5 for 13 I think) but we only took them while on holiday, I don't intend taking them swimming again for quite a while (can't be bothered with twins!). I think Mothercare do reusables for about £10.

Parofleur, at this age I think they should be drinking as much milk as before cos the food they are eating isn't providing many calories. I am bfing so not sure whether they are taking as much as before.

I just cannot get my two to go to sleep for more than 45 mins in the evenings. They go down at 7pm but then are awake by 8pm and then don't go back down till 10pm-ish. We are following the Gina Ford routine really well apart from this 7-10pm shift when they should be asleep not bothering us . What routines are your LOs doing and are they sleeping 7pm till 7am?

Neenztwinz · 23/10/2008 20:09

Hi Makecakes!! Sorry so rude, forgot to say hello.

poppy34 · 23/10/2008 20:15

hi neenz - at present we're on about 7/8 til 7/8 with maybe one or two brief wake ups between 7/8 and ten -then three naps in day - one usually around 9, ome about midday and another around 3 (this is sometimes a bit longer but nap time usually about 3/4 of an hour). That said thats been norm for about two weeks -was all over place before then (was sleeping through then wasnt ) so I am not complacent. also got the issue with teh feeding (See below) - was taking 5 feeds a day now its more usally four and we're down from 180/240ml a feed to about 120ml to max 190ml on last feed. did your two go off milk when started to wean?

Amberc · 23/10/2008 20:18

Neenz - I tried to follow a routine but decided that there was no way Luke could stick to anything so going with him and looking for signs. Won't get him up before 6, but will be any time between 6-7. He then has a nap about 2 hours later for as long as he wants to sleep, between 1-2 hours. Then he's probably up for 2 hours and then needs another nap but doesn't need much of a sleep in the mid afternoon probably 30-45 mins. I feed him once every 3 hours and he has a teaspoon of babyrice mid afternoon (for the last 2 days) as long as he has all his milk. At 6pm we do the bed routine. Playtime in his nursery while the bath runs, then bath with In the night garden on tv, bottle and then bed. He gets a bottle at 11.30 but I won't feed him between then and 6. That's it. All fairly flexible during the day but fairly rigid at night.

debinaustria · 23/10/2008 20:33

Neenz - not a routine as such but Ethan's good days are like this
awake when we wake up - about 7.00, feed
9.00 ish feed
10.00/11.00 sleep(if we're lucky he'll go for 2 hours)
1.00 feed,
3.00 feed then 30-45 min sleep
5.00 feed
grizzle, grizzle, grizzle
7.00 bath, feed and bed about 8.00
slept through last night but the fortnight before he was waking at 4.00 for a feed.

debinaustria · 23/10/2008 20:34

the timings are very approximate

poppy34 · 23/10/2008 20:40

deb I see you have the satan hours too - after about 5 there is no pleasing madam here...

Rolf · 23/10/2008 20:58

This is DD1 swimming when she was just a few months older than our June 08 babies are now! I'm not doing water babies with DD2 - the timetabling didn't work out for me - but I'm planning on taking her to the public pool and will re-think water babies next term. DD1 and I had a great time doing it. We did it for around 2 years and I'd highly recommend it.

Rolf · 23/10/2008 21:02

click on "play" when you get to the link, obviously!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/10/2008 21:13

Sorry just a quick one, saw libralady today she is great just busy and off on holiday Saturday, also wish us luck as applying to do the Moonwalk next May

Amberc · 23/10/2008 21:18

Aw Rolf that is so amazing!

debinaustria · 23/10/2008 21:32

wow Rolf

Rolf · 23/10/2008 21:38

I was looking at it to remind myself that I really like DD1 despite the fact that she came downstairs an hour ago covered in orange felt tip - all over her legs and face. She said she wanted to look cool

She couldn't have picked a worse time. We're going to a wedding tomorrow and I had also planned to get passport photos for me and the children first thing tomorrow morning. I've bathed her but she still looks a bit like a Tangerine Tart, as we call call some of Liverpool's lovely ladies on their nights out

spongebrainbigpants · 23/10/2008 21:44

Rolf, that's so cool - think I might sign up to one now!

poppy, exactly the same problem here re: playing with milk when previously a glugger, also stopped sleeping through the night . However, have decided to stick it out a little longer and not wean yet. Watch this space!

5GoMad - see you there! We're applying to do the Half Moon as I've done the full one before and I know there's a much better chance of us getting a place on the half than the full. Good luck!

Neenz, thanks for the tip on the high chair - off to IKEA next weekend!

Hi to everyone else x

debinaustria · 23/10/2008 21:46

Oh Rolf - what great timing, what are you going to do next?

When I was teaching one girl was happy playing , she turned round and we though OMG - she's got an awful rash, big red blotches on her face - on further inspection it was my red smiley face stamp - all over her face.

Parofleurmapu · 23/10/2008 21:54

Hehe Debs i had a child do that once too she went home and told mum i had given her all of them cause she was good

thanks for comments re weaning, am still trying to give fleur enough milk and always offer it too her its as poppy said she just seems to be in a phase of not wanting it so much.

another q re weaning we have been doing it for 2 weeks properly now and really only foing luch at mo and a little at breakfast, when should you introduce another feed?

Love the swimming rolf wish classes started earlier here but shes not allowed til 6 mths!!

right off for an early night, after all your talk bout babies being cold ive put fleur in all in one sleepsuit tonight as thought could be reason for waking. She was in long sleeved vest with 0.5 tog bag. Her room was 29C!!! now its 24C and although thats really warm to you guys and way above sids reccomendation i feel colder now at night and when i fed her her hands were chilly too lets see what happens!!! Night Night

debinaustria · 23/10/2008 21:59

Paro - said child also cut her fringe one day too!!
