Hi again, just popping on to say hi and to respond to Bumpers post about her friend. Although my situation was different to your friends, I would echo what the others have said about helping her out by maybe cooking her something, sending her a card, and above all talking to her about her baby (if she wants too). I found that almost no one in RL wanted to talk to me about my little girl. Thank god for Internet forums like this (although I didn't know about MN then) and SANDS who were fantastic. You could also maybe chip together and get her something like a small angel statue or a memories box to keep anything she had brought for the baby. What a nice friend you are.
Sending lots of love and strength to Trace and Chloe too. x

Phoenix · 10/10/2008 10:46

Spoke to trace, chloe is still in and is on ab's via a drip because the tube wound got infected

RiallyEeRiaee · 10/10/2008 10:51

this is nice bumper.

Poor Chloe and trace. It must be so hard for them

RiallyEeRiaee · 10/10/2008 10:54

hi pumpkinhead, good to see you again

So, I have just had a phonecall from the head of year at DS1s school. There was an incident on the bus/at the bus stop with the little git child who bullied him last year, and apparently DS1 arrived at school in tears, hurt and covered in mud. OK, I am grateful that she rang to let me know, but a) what am I mneant to do and b) now I have to get through til 4pm knowing he's not happy at school today and not being aboe to do anything about it.

JammyOLantern · 10/10/2008 12:31

Ria, poor DS! And poor you. I agree that if he's not seriously hurt to warrant you neeeding to get him home, then maybe it could have waited until later to tell you, as now you'll fret about him all day.

I am feeling worse and worse! My chest and throat are so sore from coughing. And I've got that hot/woozy feeling. Didn't help myself by taking jamlet to the pirate story and singing session held at our new arts centre for national bookstart day. By the time we'd done 10 green bottles and Old Mcpirate had a ship, hohohohoho, I was dying!! Thankfully she is having a post-lunch nap now, so I can at least get some rest before sorting out a bed and getting some dinner ready for FIL coming tonight. After drowning their car last weekend, he found that the car he wants is nearly £3k cheaper in Gloucestershire than in Cumbria so is picking it up from there today and staying here tonight before driving back home tomorrow.

RiallyEeRiaee · 10/10/2008 13:04

poor you jammy. my Gran used to swear by fishermans friends

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 16:25

Poor Jammy and poor Ria's DS. What a crap Friday

Well done to Sputnik for making the weekly roundup

Sputnik · 10/10/2008 16:59

Ooh, did I?

Sputnik · 10/10/2008 17:01

Fame at last!

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 17:32

got the sling today Sputnik...it's lovely. I like the stretchiness of the material.

Why does my DD whinge and moan from three o'clock until bedtime? it drives me nuts!

saw my doula this afternoon. she has spoken to the chief MW at the other hospital who has confirmed that she would want to do a care plan, but would treat a VBA2C woman the same as any woman who had had a normal problem free pregnancy, and would only use a hand held device to monitor every 15 minutes, unless there were good reasons not to. she also said that they wouldn't rule out the use of the pool if it was available and all was well.

Sooo, we need to get something in writing, and then change hospitals and than meet with them to work up my care plan.....all withing the next couple of weeks. but, looking positive

Mmmmmm, I am having a lovely, lovely Magnum - for medicinal purposes of course

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 18:00

I've just fallen upstairs carrying DD . I'm feeling a wee bit shaky still and DH has popped out to get our Friday takeaway. Not sure what happened, but the gate at the top was closed so I went to swing her over it (as I can't open it withe her in my arms) and next thing I know is I'm on my hands and knees at the top of the stair on top of her with her head millimetres away from the brick wall. All I can think of is that the gate wasn't fastened fully and I've crashed through it. I have carpet burns on my knees and sore wrists from landing hard on them

Poor DD hasn't stopped whinging since it happened and she is just sitting cuddled in. I hope I haven't hurt her; 13 stone of mother can't be a nice thing to have on top of you at all

JammyOLantern · 10/10/2008 18:02

Aw, Daisy, hope you are both OK. I'm sure it'll have just been a shock for DD (and you of course!) and no real damage will have been done. But make sure you're OK, you hear!!

JammyOLantern · 10/10/2008 18:03

Am of take away btw. What're you having?

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 18:06

Daisy, poor you. I did a similar-ish thing when about your stage, DD moved suddlenly on pavement, I went to grab her and ended up flat on the pavement weeble-like. It's probably because your centre of gravoty is shifting as virgil moves around. I hope you are ok. I'm sure DD is fine, it was probasbly just a bit of a shock for her. Look after yourself

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 18:08

I am of takeaway too. I did drag myself to ikea today though (big mistake) to get DDs bed though and have bought meatballs, sauce, etc for supper so will just be a case of heating them up.

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 18:11

chinese

spicy crispy beef, spring rolls, BBQ ribs followed by sweet'n'sour king prawns, chicken and cashew nuts, chef special crispy noodles and fried rice.

and that's just for me

DD is now inconsolable; if I pick her up she screams to get down and if I put her down she just screams. I wish she could tell me what is wrong; I'm really worried that I've hurt her

JammyOLantern · 10/10/2008 18:23

Poor DD, Daisy. Hopefully she'dd settle down soon.

DH took jamlet out nearly an hour ago to get some bits from sainsburys. Hope they're back soon, they're meant to be getting me some cough mixture. FIL should be here soon too. He'd better appreciate the fish pie after all the effort I've put in today. Don't fancy it now myself. Daisy has got me hankering after mandarin ribs, crabmeat soup, sweet and sour prawn balls and egg fried rice!

Bloodystumperlicious · 10/10/2008 19:04

It's Black Friday here. On top of yesterdays news, today a work colleague died, not someone I was very close to, but enough that they were part of my every day life IYKWIM. She was about 40, it was completely sudden, don't yet know how. And DH got a job rejection. If he doesn't get a job by the end of the month we are fucked for next month.

Daisy, I hope you are ok. If DD is anything like my DD she is milking it. Since I have given her chocolate buttons twice after a fall she now milks every tumble to see if she can get some, and I have probably set her up for comfort eating for the rest of her life.

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 19:33

Oh God Bumper, how awful

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 19:33

bumper; it's just awful when things like this happen, especially to people you know and who are "the same age" as it makes you so aware of your own mortality.

sorry about the job news for DH, and crossing fingers that something turns up very very soon.

DD has been put to bed and seems to have perked up a bit but she has been very clingy. I'm feeling woozy and dizzy and not very well at all

but good news is I now have an email from the MW at LGI with the name of the consultant; asking me to change my booking and then she will meet with me to draw up a care plan

JammyOLantern · 10/10/2008 19:33

Oh dear Bumper, life's not good is it. Hope your DH has bnetter luck soon. Thankfully things are looking positive for my DH (sorry if this is insensitive). No offers yet, but had got through first 2 stages for one job, and had first (telephone) interview for another tonight and next week he has the final interview for the 1at job and a separate interview for a 3rd post.

I'm feeling worse and worse though. Think I will go to bed straight after dinner, so goodnight all.

RiallyEeRiaee · 10/10/2008 20:29

Hope you are OK daisy, sounds good about the hospital. My Dsis trained at your new one! I'm sure DD will be ok, just a bit chaken up (my sis fel and landed at least 16 stone of mummy on top of her DS when he was smaller on a a concrete flor. He is no odder than he would have been).

Sorry for your DH bumper (and for your colleague).

I am now certain my cash card has been scanned or whatever. I am taking out all of my cash as it goes in but left £10 this morning to covr a standing order, and it's gone. My bank said they need 3 months of proof - WTF? How am I supposed to manage not knowing how much cash is going to have disappeared (I have approx 5 weeks atm receipts, but that's all), they were a bit more helpful in my own branch and were looking into it but it's no help in the short term.

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 20:51

I hope you feel better soon Jammy, it sounds like you are really suffering

FiendishFairyFay · 10/10/2008 20:52

That's really crap Ria. Wtf are you supposed to do in the meantime?
