Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scorpio1 · 17/10/2008 12:49

I was going to make broccoli and cheese muffins this weekend for Mimi

Sal - don't be so silly, everyone has diff circumstances

Freeview1akaPeachy · 17/10/2008 13:03

MO- gluten free is one of the asd prevention methods we're trying, we know he's casein intol so that's 50% known anyway.

Recipe:

1 cup (I use a mug, it works)doves farm white self raising flour- fab gluten free product, quite new and wonderful- all supermarkets (if you cant find it cat me)

0.5 cup oil

0.5 cup soya milk (sweetened works best- gives a fab depth)- rice milk would work too

0.5 cup caster sugar

1tsp baking powder (for extremely strict GF you can get GF baking powder in supermarkets now)

1 tsp vanilla extract

blend until fluffy , pop in muffin cases and bake at 170 for around 20 minutes

chop off tops; mif pure organic df butter with icing sugar until icing consistency, make up to cakes

note i've done this from memory- really hope its right but think it is

scorpio1 · 17/10/2008 13:20

owww i offically have no nipple! lol mimi just bit me!

MadameOvary · 17/10/2008 13:22

Thank you Peachy
I use rice milk but am sugar free [fussy emoticon] so will try rice syrup or similar

scorpio1 · 17/10/2008 14:16

is this the new or old pink - Bugaboo ???

My bug is denim - they dont do a matching footmuff...am going to get a black one but thought pink would be nice sometimes, lol

Freeview1akaPeachy · 17/10/2008 14:30

MO let me now how that goes

Scorpio- Bas did it a few times, think my yelping stopped him though

OK off to change my posting name now Tanya Byron has buggered orf

TheShipsCat · 17/10/2008 14:41

We just got given a cat. He's been here 5 mins and I've lost him already

LadyBee · 17/10/2008 14:54

have you tried looking under things? I find that's usually where lost things are. DP is yet to master the technique of looking under things despite my repeated suggestion he do so

Gluten-free reminds me... I gave DS a gluten-free rusk the other day because I was feeling guilty about eating a muesli bar and cup of tea in front of him while he'd finished is dinner and still looked interested in eating...anyway...it has these ingredients in it:

  • rice and soya flours
  • maize starch
  • potato starch
  • sugar (naughty mummy )
  • vegetable oil
  • milk protein
  • calcium carbonate
  • soya lecithin
  • niacin, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, vit D

What I want to know...does this mean I still haven't given "wheat"? is maize starch different?? I was sort of thinking I'd hold off the wheat & eggs for a while, but if one of these ingredients is the same as 'wheat' then is there any point in delaying?

He was fine, btw

TheShipsCat · 17/10/2008 15:17

Hah. Under the table. Thanks!

Sorry, don't know about the wheat issue...

LadyBee · 17/10/2008 15:22

I got the splash mat magazine, it's about 90cm square - big enough when you don't have anything else..I think I might still want something a bit bigger though, he appears to be refining his flinging technique.
I like the shallow spoon better than the one's I bought, which have quite a deep bowl. What spoons do people have? any recommendations?

LadyBee · 17/10/2008 15:24

sorry..random apostrophes creeping in there again...ones, not one's.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 15:34

TSC, if kitten still not found, make sure you check washing machine before you turn it on Update: Hmm, typing so slow that I see the search is off, hehe. For future, my halloween-y tip still stand.

My first ever kitten once decided to go explore and he crossed the road to climb a tree. Once at the top (rather low tree), he decided coming down looked less fun and was mewing and mewing, poor thing. I didn't have a ladder (and for some reason borrowing one didn't spring to mind ), so I ended up carrying my extremely heavy sitting room chair across the road, stood on the armrests and rescued the little bugger. Apparently the neighbours thought I was strange

Ladybee, John Lewis has some really nice oil cloth - I was a bit tired by that time yesterday, but thought I'll go back over the weekend and buy some length to make my own. That way it's easy to buy the exact size you want too.

Re spoon - i've got 3, all of which I got as freebies with pregnancy magazines. One is too hard and deep, one hard but useable as shallow enough, third one is just perfect. Makes me think of Goldilocks.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 15:43

Scorpio, sorry, I've got no idea re bugaboo seasons (I've got red, hope they've only got one red as I can't be bothered to try and figure out). I thought of going the ebay route as well. (However, while saying that, someone recommended looking at ebay for affordable second hand designer clothes the other day, and I thought my poor dh might die of stress next to me - hehehe, he kept saying oh, just buy it in a shop.)

scorpio1 · 17/10/2008 15:44

yes, only one red, lol. forgot about you & ebay!!

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 15:51

(can't remember if i've ever admitted it on here, but my bad history with ebay didn't start with the Double Jumper shopping - I was once asked to look for a second hand video player (only had dvd player and we wanted to watch an old video, so needed something cheap). I ended up buying a new tele, dvd player and video player. it was a bargain, honestly Hmm, probably stolen too)

SushiMama · 17/10/2008 17:50

LOL re cake Peachy! I've just been thinking that I must dig out your list of "safe first foods" to try from that sensible Peachy! Seeing as making pizzas from scratch are obviously out of my league! Along with the mouth-watering broccoli and cheese muffins! Not that there's anything wrong with giving her cake, after all it is her birthday cake. But I think I'll make it a rule that Mummy gets all cake because they are "spicy"!

LadyBee · 17/10/2008 18:19

Benedict has just started to get up on his knees and rock back and forth like he's about to launch forward into a 50 metre crawl
He does it for about 10 seconds and then lies himself down for wee rest. Then back up again. It's v cute.
I wonder if he got inspired seeing the 10 month old baby crawl after his miniature soccer ball yesterday?

Peachy · 17/10/2008 20:37

Aaaagghhhhh

MIL's dads funeral today

we phoned several times to find out when it was, dropped her a card asking

no reply

Dh phoned up to ask how it went

got a mouthful and we have all been disowned

F her. no bugger treats my family like that and gets away with that.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 21:42

What a pain, Peachy. Ignore her, she probably likes the attention. I'd like to say don't let it upset you, but I'd be furious if someone treated my loved ones like that too.

Ladybee, make sure you make a video of it, sounds adorable!

Babysitter told me off (well, in a mother-y kind of way) for not giving Roelof massages before bed - apparently he loved it when she gave him a back and leg massage. This little man has got her wrapped round his little finger! She also brought him a giant yellow bunny last week, hehehe.

chipmonkey · 18/10/2008 00:00

Peachy, your MIL is a Woman With Ishoos, is she not? She is really not worth working yourself up over. I know it's easier said than done but try to put the silly wagon out of your mind.

chipmonkey · 18/10/2008 00:01

Sorry Sal, was so at Peachy's MIL that I ignored you! What a babysitter!

SalLikesCoffee · 18/10/2008 00:17

Hehehe, it's ok! How are you? Any new words? I have to go to bed but don't want to. [naughty child emoticon]

LadyBee · 18/10/2008 09:51

Hi all, Peachy sorry to hear your MIL being unreasonable - difficult to ignore but it really is the best thing..expecting a sudden morphing into caring, reasonable, sensible MIL is just going to keep making you scream in frustration

umm, I was just wondering whether I should give DS breakfast as well as lunch and dinner? I haven't so far, but he does seem to be a bit hungrier in the mornings now. Is there any reason not to? Do you?

scorpio1 · 18/10/2008 11:55

LadyBee - Mimi has a bit of our toast or some shreddies (supermarket equivalant of - no nestle), not a big meal, more to socialise at table with us. She ate half a piece of toast this morning, so obv wants to!

Peachy - Bloody MIL, you have every right to be angry. She was being very inconsiderate as it appears you made big efforts.

I have been given free rein to ring my MIL asking why she hasn't seen her GD yet. They only live in Somerset......AIBU? any ideas? Shall i leave it?

Kev is fighting tonight - around 7pm. As FB friends will see, LOL

Oh i have emailed OMa as she hasnt been here for a while - but i havent heard from her for a week.....i do have her phone number...?

scorpio1 · 18/10/2008 11:56

oh and i think i need help again

Mimi keeps waking up, but as she goes down at 7pm if she wakes up at 2am should i feed her? is it unreasonable to expect her to go until 630/7 am ish? (i think yes?) but i want to stop night feeding myself to try and get some periods back....

Getting a bit peed off with BF - she keeps biting. and waking.
