Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FrankenSoph73 · 16/10/2008 09:19

Morning all.
Sal - you globetrotter you We´re going to end up having 3 Christmases the rate we´re going. MIL is coming from 8 Dec to 22 Dec then my Mum, StepDad & Nan are coming from 31 Dec to 14 Jan. It´s going to be a very busy few weeks!

DonDons · 16/10/2008 10:02

no sign of teeth here either!

scorpio1 · 16/10/2008 10:54

Mimi has to have her hip scanned, it keeps clicking, poor girl

We might pop to France for xmas too!

FrankenSoph73 · 16/10/2008 11:03

Poor Mimi - will keep my fingers crossed that the scan comes back OK. Have you got a date for it yet? Sam's going for his 6 month injections next week

scorpio1 · 16/10/2008 11:20

well i took her to gp this morning, appt shouldnt be long, he thinks she is fine; just precautionary measure.

is it chips today?? lol

FrankenSoph73 · 16/10/2008 11:22

That´s alright then & yes it´s chips with chicken this week so very happy bunny today Especially as me & my auntie polished off 2 bottles of red wine before dinner last night & for some reason I'm absolutely famished today

FrankenSoph73 · 16/10/2008 13:20

Aaarrgghh - too much for lunch

FrankenSoph73 · 16/10/2008 16:02

Did I scare everyone off with my belching??
And I don´t want to hear any excuses about having children to look after - tsk!

MadameOvary · 16/10/2008 16:23

Not me Soph - round here we heart a good belch
Ellis bottom two teeth are through

SalLikesCoffee · 16/10/2008 19:12

Oh Soph, I missed all the belching - way too civilized for my liking! (As a side note - when pregnant and huge I stopped caring about all this lady nonsence and freaked my dh out by burping like a man. Hehehe, I felt rather proud about it to be honest, and made me feel a lot better. )

MadameOvary, bet you're so relieved that the teeth are through!

Sorry to hear re Mimi's hip, really hope it's nothing Scorpio. If it's any reassurance, my knees always click. Rather annoying, but not painful.

I spent all day (well, until 1pm) at the French consulate for our visa. BUT BUT BUT - we all got 2 year visas!!! (The non-UK citizens would appreciate how much easier that makes life!) I didn't even know they gave such long ones - longest we've ever had was 6 months, and we've been told that they're stricter now and that it would most likely be 3 months. Must be Chubby Cheaks's charms on the girls

Also went to John Lewis in Oxford Street to try and buy footmuff, but red out of stock. Might try Bluewater one this weekend or online if they have in stock. I didn't buy any as it's really ridiculously expensive for something that'll fit for a month or two, but they have such cool boys' clothes at the moment. I have to admit I was a little tempted, but decided that a divorce is probably not worth it. But almost

Off to have a long soak, everything aches (reminds self not to take sling for full day walking with Fatty).

SalLikesCoffee · 16/10/2008 20:32

Cool Scorpio. Where are you planning on going? Also, have you (or anyone else) been in France over Christmas before? I'm really looking forward to it, but slightly worried that we would freeze to death! We're going half an hour south of Caen (Villers Canivet), but plan on just spending some time together, so doesn't really matter if we just stay in and eat good food and drink wine all week. Hmm, that sounds good actually.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/10/2008 20:36

Talk to me.... Please! I beg you!

LadyBee · 16/10/2008 21:11

hullo!
Knowing my luck, you'll now have given up and wandered off

We had a mixed day here, DP stayed home from work as he's got our cold (only 5 million x worse, of course ) so was able to meet the childminder/babysitter, which was great. She's lovely!! I love her. I so want her to take care of my baby.
I think
Am going to get back in touch with her and make a date to visit her at her home, so I can see the childminding set up and then hopefully talk start dates and settling in etc. and also book her for some evening babysitting and see whether it works out. Not necessarily all in that order.

But DP didn't get the job
Can't believe it took them 4 bloddy interviews to decide, he's really disappointed and feeling very dejected and upset. I think he'd already worked out exactly what he'd do with the salary increase and imagined what he'd say to existing employer when handing in notice, and now he's back at square one and feeling trapped. I'm trying to gently remind him that he does have a good job at a good company which is more than some people and good going in these unsettled times, and that not getting this one doesn't mean he will never get another job, but mostly I'm just putting my arm around his shoulder and telling him I love him and am proud of him no matter what that stupid company did...

SalLikesCoffee · 16/10/2008 21:35

Hey Ladybee! Nope, I'm still desperately checking this thread!

So so so sorry to hear re your dh, but (and I know it never makes you feel better at the time) they must have thought he was pretty impressive for the interview process to progress this far. Sometimes it's something tiny that makes the choice if both candidates are great, so maybe it was something stupid like a shorter notice period or something. And you never know, this one might not work out and he might still get it (this has happened in my department before where the "first" choice didn't work out, and the "second" one was actually the perfect fit and everyone was just so relieved that he was still available at the time). Still, all this probably won't help, it still hurts to be disappointed. Was tempted to say hugs from me, but then realised it might be slightly inappropriate (and he's snotty ).

Brilliant news re the childminder!!! Check out her place, but I think that first impressions say a lot about someone. I know this can't be proven etc, but I think sometimes you just "know". I wish I could afford G (my ex-cleaner and now babysitter) as fulltime nanny for R. I feel that way about her, it would be just perfect. Hmm, if (oh, I'm so confused, so no point in planning) I do a fulltime long hour job again, I'll employ her permanently. But for part-time/shorter hours I sadly can't afford to. The nursery (that I really like as well) is my compromise.

Good luck with all the poorly ones in your house! Early night (and lots of honey for all except B) for you all?

scorpio1 · 17/10/2008 09:42

France won't be much different temp to this country - though make sure you get food and supplies in as they are shut ALOT over the hols!

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 10:58

Ah, thanks for that.

I have to start cleaning but was hoping that everyone would be so busy chatting that i'd be forced to spend some time here first. So off to grab the gloves now. Thanks for nothing you guys

TheShipsCat · 17/10/2008 11:10

Hi Sal ,I'm here. Just taking a break from cleaning to BF - hence the rubbish LH typing.
about france for christmas. but - if we still have jobs - we are going to have a big holiday next spring instead. Haven't been away since 38 weeks pregnant...

SushiMama · 17/10/2008 11:12

heh heh, no excuse Sal! I'm off to get some stuff for our 6 month celebration on Sunday. Spashmats being one of them as we're planning to give her first foods then! Not cake though- I'll be having her portion

So cleaning it is Sal! I've got cleaning too when I get back so you're not alone.

TheShipsCat · 17/10/2008 11:24

did anyone get the free splashmat with m and b mag? Is it big enough?

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 11:30

Oh ok then, if you both are cleaning I guess I have to lift my lazy bum and get on with it...

TSC, sorry, hope you didn't think I'm being insensitive with the current situation as it is. We went away for a couple of days (to Prague) last Christmas, but except for that I haven't been on holiday for ages and ages, so still had some in the holiday fund. (My own fault really, lost my passport and the superefficient South African government took 6 months to replace it...) At least good for the bank balance, but I'm in rather desperate need to go away.

SushiMama, like your idea of having a party on her behalf. Hehehe.

Ah, just saw your last question, TSC. No sorry, I looked at the magazine but didn't buy it in the end.

Peachy · 17/10/2008 11:40

Oh sushi she can have cake LOL_ Bas loves cake more than anything, bangs on the fridge where they're kept LOL (he has homemade gluten and daiy free butterfly cakes s very basic ingrediaents, nothng of concern)

TheShipsCat · 17/10/2008 11:41

Ah no, Sal, I didn't mean that at all! Sorry you thought that! I am frankly planning a huge holiday, but just have to convince DH that we should be spending, not saving!

Oh dear. huge nappy / clothes change needed!

Peachy · 17/10/2008 11:41

Spalshmats- ned those for the older boys lazt buggers abandoned their ice lollies in the cornre last night to go play- I found the mess this morning and the stains- arrrggghhhhhhh

SalLikesCoffee · 17/10/2008 12:06

TSC I was just worried my childish overexcitement of lately might have come across wrong. Glad if it's ok. Hehehe, had to laugh at your spending not saving quest.

MadameOvary · 17/10/2008 12:46

Ladybee - sorry to hear about your DH - you want to smack those employers, dont you?
Sal - mixed feelings re the teeth as Ellis can BITE! Overall tho she's quite good, tho she would chew her way through my hand if I let her.
Peachy - how did you find out that Bas was gluten intolerant and would it be incredibly cheeky to ask you to share your cake recipe???
