Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EllieG · 15/10/2008 11:58

Um, dunno. Is beyond me, but does sound like you are a bit weird tbh

When I was PG I had a dream where I took the baby out to check was OK, and then popped her back in til she was ready.

Soph73 · 15/10/2008 12:07

Morning all.
LOL at Scorpio. I dreamt the other night that I was married to John Nettles - think that's his name, the one from Midsummer Murders - & we were buying a house & one of the bedrooms had 3 sets of bunk beds in it. So don't go thinking you're weird
EllieG - Sam is constantly gagging on something, normally his fingers, which he does insist on jamming to the back of his throat!! Try not to worry My DH is away next week for 3 nights.

scorpio1 · 15/10/2008 12:08

My DH is away next weekend for 3 nights too..........how odd!

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 15/10/2008 12:08

soph lapin needs some help over here

SushiMama · 15/10/2008 12:09

Hello everyone!
Thought I'd give an update to let you know how we are doing after your kind tips last week on the routines and naptimes. Ooh, thanks for advice re the snot-sucker (Boots was out of stock). Wow LadyBee 6 colds! I am suffering with just this first one! You have my admiration!

I don't know if it's because she's got a cold, but she is sleeping in the day, albeit waking up rather frequently, but she is actually allowing herself to fall asleep so . So it was good advice to force encourage her to go down. Thanks again! Bedtimes are another story altogether!

I feel rather wicked, as I let her cry when going to bed last night. She was howling (first time I've heard her howl) but I thought it was because she's getting cleverer and more manipulative now so I kind of left her for a bit. Today she has a tooth cut through! and Poor mite.

Well done Baby Beach! Nowhere near crawling yet here. She just shouts for me to move her to a different position.

Oh DonDons, I have the MAM bottles which I tried recently (when she was almost 5 months) and she will take from. Also have the Doidy too, but that's a bit messy.

SushiMama · 15/10/2008 12:15

Forgot to say Ellie, doesn't mean you are a bad mother at all. In fact, she was probably gagging more than choking as you can pull the thing out. As opposed to choking where something small could get lost inside, inhaled into the lungs iyswim. As someone's said before, they seem to go through a phase of gagging just to see what it's like.

SushiMama · 15/10/2008 12:19

That's 2 very disparate dreams scorpio!

When I was pg, I dreamt that I found the baby in a little doll's bed, and she had keeled over (like sitting up and head slumped over her legs) and she was stiff. I distinctly remember struggling to shout out "She's dead". DH woke up and asked what was going on! LOL

Peachy · 15/10/2008 12:24

mothercare do 2 varieties of bogie extractor

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 12:26

Good morning. Wow, had a lot to catch up on the thread!

Ellie, of course you're a great mom. I can imagine that it must have been terrifying for that split second.

TSC, love the pic (in my mind) re the Big Banana Discory! Sounds ready to me, but as it's so much faff, you could play around for a couple of weeks and give her stuff to play around with without properly starting weaning?

My one problem with weaning is that R gets constipated very easily (and then a difficult little man!), so I have to remember to give him additional fluids during the day. His favourite is very weak Rooibos tea (I buy the baby ones, but think it's probably just a rip-off and that the normal ones will do).

I'm hungry and don't know what I fancy (or rather what I have in the fridge). I threw the bread out last night, so can't even have toast... Hmm, I wonder if coffee and chirstmas pies (it's got fruit and all, you know?!) counts as breakfast/lunch...

Soph73 · 15/10/2008 12:47

VSSnS - have posted on that thread, thanks.
Sal - deffo on the Christmas pies although I'm very with you mentioning the "C" word though in October. I haven´t even got bloody halloween sorted yet

Peachy · 15/10/2008 12:56

coffee and chirstmas pies - fab! My aprents eat almost nothng else between now and Christmas, a different pack every week as they (they're famous on MN for it) audition them for Christmas eating PMSL- they're bloody obsessive!

Halloween we're sorted (usually do noting) as bas's Godmother is having a party- I'm going as The Corpse Bride. I have a frilly white ress in my wardrobe so it's just a bouquet of dead flowers, some face paints and a black wig right? Should go for white tights or rpped fishnets? (I prefer the idea of fishnets)

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 12:57

Hehehe. Yes, but Soph, you have to take into account that I'll be away for all of November (and with it being midsummer and my parents not going for the commercial angle on Christmas when I'm on holiday), so in effect it's late November for me now

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 12:59

Peachy. I like your parents! No point in doing things half-heartedly!

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 13:03

We don't really do Halloween, but every year I buy bags of sweets for in case the children come trick and treating. Access to our front door is however restricted by a walk through a dark park and then crossing a (locked) gate, lol, so obviously I end up stuffing my face even more than usual the week after

DonDons · 15/10/2008 13:12

Sal - I do the same with the trick or treaters! Very very naughty

Thanks Sushi - I'll stick it on the list.

Managed to get 2oz down her using tommee teepee and Hipp Organic (which tastes okay I think - definatley better than SMA bleurgh..). Hopefully things will progress from here.

LadyBee · 15/10/2008 13:38

I think I'll have to get something in for Halloween, there are tonnes of kids around here and we can't very well hide like we did last year when we'd just moved in

Oh bollocks, B shouting. He's woken himself up coughing...

luckymummy74 · 15/10/2008 13:52

Forgot to say, my DD1 also likes to help DD2 'roll back over' but the other night she did it, and I heard this blood curdling scream....DD2's arm was stuck right under her back, I really thought DD1 might have dislocated DD2s shoulder ! DD2 wouldn't stop screaming crying for about 15 mins.

She's fine now

Soph73 · 15/10/2008 14:01

OK then Sal I´ll forgive you
Must remember to get sweets in as the children in our neighbourhood do trick or treating, which for some reason I didn´t think Spanish kids would do. The year we moved in I had to use the sweets DS1's Great Nan had brought out with her as I hadn´t bought any. Fortunately DS1 was in bed so I ran out the following morning & bought bags of stuff as I felt so guilty
Luckymummy74 - pleased DD2 is fine .. ouch!

FrankenSoph73 · 15/10/2008 14:03

Look, look, had a blinding flash of inspiration for my Hallowe'en name

FrankenSoph73 · 15/10/2008 14:04

Sad git aren´t I (please don´t answer that) Really must do some work, but this is so much more fun

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 14:16

Hahaha, love your name FrankenSoph!

Oh, all you "interesting" weaning moms, you're all rubbish! I just took your advice (really sounded like such a good idea at the time) to spread some cream cheese on his rice cake. Such a bad idea if it's not right before bath time, hehehe. Might as well throw the whole baby in the washing machine

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 14:19

Hell, my mind's gone, I remember things one bit per five minutes. Anyway, current one: Thank you so much for everyone re the swimming nappies feedback. I love that happy nappy you linked to, Ladybee, think I'll go with that for his holiday. That and gazillions of litres of superstrength sunblock.

FrankenSoph73 · 15/10/2008 14:20

Sal - lol. Sam loves to blow raspberries with mouthfuls of cereal so after a couple of mornings of me frantically rushing round the house trying to find a clean top to wear to work, I have now learnt to not put a top on at all until just before we leave the house! However, I'm amazed I´ve actually remembered to get dressed before leaving the house ... quite an achievement

SalLikesCoffee · 15/10/2008 14:28

Oh, how funny would it be (ok, maybe not to you, but you owe it to the world as a whole, especially in this time of crisis) if you turn up at work with only your skirt. Perfect makeup, nice shoes...

LadyBee · 15/10/2008 14:33

I am exactly the same Sal, this morning the babysitter I was meeting called to cancel (boiler emergency), and asked whether I was free tomorrow. Racked brain, said yes. 5 minutes later had to call back and say sorry I forgot about my swimming lesson which I've been going to every Thursday for the last 5 weeks.. Fortunately she'll come earlier, so we can still meet. Am really hopeful I like her, she's a registered childminder and lives just around the corner and works for a really reputable agency as well...if it works out there's the possibility that she might be a potential childminder for when I go back too - she has one under 1 at the moment but by the time I go back he'll have turned 1 and there'll be space for another...send good vibes

DP is on 4th (!!!) interview for a job today. I so hope he isn't being mucked about and they give him the job...more good vibes please.
