pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 19:43

breastfeed!,

pics will be up as soon as Dh fixes the driver programme- had nowt but problems that way with my Fuji

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:44

Sal - thats what is wrong with mine. i didnt pay all that for it to fall apart!!

Peachy - oh yes, jelly, lol

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:45

which one do you have sal? we have cameleon.

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 19:46

Scorpio, I get what you're saying about choosing TTC over BFing. That choice to put your needs over your baby's is always going to be guilt-inducing, but you might be able to balance it out a bit by choosing the 'grey' of reducing Breast-feeds to just a couple (or even one?) and seeing whether you ovulate by using those test?
I think, yes, if you stopped BFing in December you'd need to give formula because as far as I know, cow's milk isn't recommended as the main milk drink until after 1 year (I may be wrong though).

What vege shall I do next - I'd like to a green one...would courgette be good?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:47

yep thats right about 1 - which makes me think maybe i should reduce in Jan and stop full on at 1? Thankyou for being so helpful though i like the idea of reducing.

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:49

Courgette good - broccoli?

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 19:56

ooh yes, broccoli, can just imagine him munching on the little bobbly bits...I bet they get everywhere too

so if you reduced in Jan, assuming you did start ovulating & took the 6 months then you could be pregnant in July - which would give you another April baby

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 13/10/2008 19:58

Alex just had avocado for dinner.
He LOVED it. Weird child.

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:58

April babies, of course, being the best!!

I think the 5am feed here is stopping my periods?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:58

VS - its lush!

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 20:05

Bas loves avocaso, esp with banana (but banana made him ill)

I love avocado too. Yum.

Mollyfloss · 13/10/2008 20:20

I was told that protein is fine from 6 months. I've no idea how you can give it the BLW way though... I'm still a purée Mum for the mo A isn't too keen on apple, til strange... I'm mixing it with a bit of EBM and rice cereal to make it more appetising and she just about takes it then but isn't exactly over the moon about it... I tried a jar of pumpkin & carrott yesterday, my first time trying a jar and it was a disaster, A hated it. can't blame her though, it smelt vile... so it's back to the home cooking for the mo...

DonDons · 13/10/2008 20:26

Gave A some roast chicken left-overs today for her finger food. She chewed and chewed and it all went down. (That's protein right??).

She loves courgette and brocolli but beetroot is the firm favourite this week (interesting poo though)

SalLikesCoffee · 13/10/2008 20:37

Wow dondons, you've got guts trying beetroot! Please tell me she was dressed in plastic, wipe-clean clothes!

Just had gnocchi with carbonara sauce for dinner - am ready to veg in front of movie with dh for rest of night!

scorpio, forgot to ask you earlier - (or maybe you said and i missed it?) - but have the shop already given you the replacement screws or is it still broken? so annoying.

oh, re food - yes, love avocado too (me, not R - haven't tried it on him). I know it's really, really healthy, so will add some to my next shop. will give it in puree form though - blw on avo sounds wayyyyy too messy to my liking.

SalLikesCoffee · 13/10/2008 20:42

Ooh, we're going to Aida next week! Now only to sort out childcare...

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 20:45

Whats that, Sal?

I am getting the screws tomorrow!

MommyHasaHeadache · 13/10/2008 20:47

Okay new pics are up!

Looking forward to trying all these new foods with Gigi!

Tell me, with regards to the Ella pouches, they are all mixed foods - ie sweet pot with something else. Do I 1st have to try her on both ingredients separately or can she have them mixed straight away?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 20:49

Ahhh, she is lovely! Nice highchair

DonDons · 13/10/2008 21:00

Yep - she has a plastic bib - cheated a bit as it was a semi puree (beetroot, roasted tomatoes and garlic - yum yum) but she still had her hands in it and got it all over her head. Twas v funny though.

AFAIK the Ella pouches are all mixes but I think we tried some of them without testing each ingrediant seperately BUT we have no allergies in family and had tried quite a few things before (A loves them too - except the brocolli one which is a bit strong IMO)

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 21:04

I love avocado too - yummy yum on wholegrain toast with lots of lemon juice and black pepper.

We had ravioli & carbonara sauce, Sal but I think I'm going to head to bed soon, feel rubbish.

Yeah, could be the 5 am one Scorpio, that's the only overnight feed I'm doing and it seems to be stopping me...

Who was it asking about how long for each new food? Molly? I've been doing a new food every 2-3 days and it seems to be ok - I think that gives me a decent chance to see how he's doing on it. It does feel a bit boring in the first bit, but he doesn't seem to mind. I vary it by choosing to give a puree version of something and a solid version of something else.
I think I've worked out why the pear didn't work - I started off with pear I did myself but then ran out so continued with a puree pot, and it's sweetened with concentrated fruit juice. I didn't taste it then, but have just tasted one that was in the fridge before tossing it out and it's soooo sweet.
Will give it another go with some more pear if I can get some tomorrow. Don't understand why they would bother to sweeten it - pear's quite sweet by itself

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 21:10

MommyHAH, you could try her on one of the ingredients and then once you know she's ok with that, do the mix - cause then you'll know which food is the problem if there is a reaction.

SalLikesCoffee · 13/10/2008 21:11

Such cool pics, MHH! Love the chair, looks really nice.

Have to agree re silliness of sweetening fruit! Just stupid if you ask me.

Scorpio, it's this opera that I've been wanting to see for years but never quite got around to it when it was on, and then it sold out last year before we got tickets. I'm so excited, it's supposed to be really good (well, dh has been to a performance thereof - though not by eno - , but I haven't).

MommyHasaHeadache · 13/10/2008 21:24

Mmm love avo too! In fact I had it on toast for lunch today!

Thanks for the advice on the Ella pouches - will do as you say LadyBee. Although not actually planning on feeding them to her unless I am feeling lazy/am out and about.

Oooooh Sal - you lucky fish! I am sooooooo envious. You are so lucky your DH is interested in opera - mine really isn't and I normally go with a g/f. Would so love to see Aida.

EllieG · 13/10/2008 21:34

Ooo am jealous of peachy and her crawler

Mol can't even roll yet. Rubbish.

You lot talk too much! Can't keep up even a day now...

Mol used to like broccoli, but today she don't. She now only likes milk again. And babyrice mixed with banana. But tomorrow it may be all completely different.

No advice from me scorpio, other than to say that you have done brilliantly with bf, and if you decide to stop, don't feel guilty x

Sorry about your weird neighbours VS

Hope you feel better soon ladybee

MadameOvary · 13/10/2008 21:43

Hi Everyone,
I can never catch up on the whole thread but I am determined to post at least once!
DD is doing well, can roll over and be on her front for quite a few minutes before she starts to protest.
Her favourite food is mashed banana and EBM and the Ella's pouches - tho she didnt like the carrot apple and swede much. Her main food is BM tho.
I have found a massive difference in her sleep if she does not have potato, wheat or dairy, sheis much less windy and as a result sleeps better.
Tonight was amazing, she went straight down without being fed first. Woke after an hour but that's usual. She generally starts off in the cot and ends up in with me.
I am still enjoying BF and dont want to stop yet. OK going to try and catch up on at least some of your posts now.
