Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

VSSnS - re the lying our DS1 has started lying. Not major things just stupid lies like "I didn´t put that there" when you know it can´t possibly have been anyone else. Also he´s started story-telling which I´ve had to speak to him about as this could get someone else into trouble. E.g. he tore his school t-shirt & I asked him how it happened, DS1 "Jae-Min did it with scissors" when I told him I was going to speak to Jae-Min he said "well maybe it wasn´t him, maybe it was me" aaarrgghhh I could have made a real arse out of myself confronting poor Jae-Min. Hey ho, I guess it´s just development and hopefully he´ll grow out of it - what do you think?

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 13:37

Soph sounds normal- if infuriating!- to me (sadly)

Thinking about giving Bas a gluten free fishfinger (he's ok on fish) with his dinner tonight but not sure if its too processed. He's liking the finger foods since saturday- grip has improved, seemingly another side of the osteo?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 13:43

give it a try peachy

So pleased that his thing went well.

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 13:44

i havent tried mimi on meat/fish yet.... can i?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 14:01

Feeling really confused about BFing....several people lately who i havent seen for a while have started the 'so youre still BFing, then?' comments, i do enjoy it but i do want to stop sometime (want to have dc4 etc), but she loves her booby so much.

DH is up for whatever i want to do.

She won't even take a bottle.

I thought i would reassess after Xmas. I feel so guilty at the thought of stopping, but surely 9 months (in Jan) is a good start? or shouldn't i go until one?

I'm guessing she will have less milk the more solids she has, she sort of already is.

I don't know in RL anyone 'still' BF. I'm not odd am i? I don't feel odd.

I don't even know how you stop BF!

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 15:18

You're definately not odd.
This is the topic that my RL antenatal group talk about at the moment, out of 8 of us, all of us breastfed, 1 has gone onto formula completely, 4 of us are still excl. BFing and three are in various stages of weaning onto formula.
A couple started formula quite early for the late feeds, hoping it would help with sleeping and one is starting to wean because she's going on beach holiday soon and feels like being able to chill out during the day and have someone else feed her DD.
The 4 of us still going with all feeds, only my DS will actually take a bottle, the other babies are refuse-niks.

I read up on stopping BF during the weekend, and it seems to me, that you basically work out what feedings are you are doing now, and then just pick one that you think is not so important - and then just try to replace that with a bottle or milk from a cup if they're drinking from a cup. And after about 4-5 days your body will adapt and just not produce the milk for that feed anymore and then you can choose another feed to substitute.

I wondered whether if once you dropped down to feeding just first thing in the morning and last thing at night, for eg, you'd be more likely to be able to conceive? I still haven't had a period at all, so think I might need to stop completely before ttc again, but maybe just reducing would be enough??

What is it about stopping that makes you feel guilty? You've done so much for Mimi by BFing to 6 months, it's a huge achievement

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 15:51

The less feeds you do, the more likely you are to conceive I think, as ladybee says; what about a reduction but not cuting out if you feel guilty Scorpio? If that doesn't work then think again- worth a shot?

They can have meat yes, fish is an allergy risk but I've tested Bas on it and he's OK. It's one I like to get past as fish is so healthy, easy to cook and we eat loads.

Soph73 · 13/10/2008 15:57

Hi Scorpio - as far as I'm aware you can start chicken, etc at 6 months and fish at 8 months - that´s what we´re told here & what I did with DS1 though it may differ in England Re the BFing I think you should go for as long as you want. If she still wants it and you´re quite happy to still do it it´s no bugger else's business Sorry, I´m in one of those "can´t be doing with nosey bugger" days

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 15:59

I have a

crawler

only a tiny bit, but p[roper one knee in front crawling

DonDons · 13/10/2008 16:04

scorpio - I know how you feel and I keep getting similar comments. I do need to stop feeding during the day for work reasons but we are on day 4 now and A is still refusing the bottle/cup/sippy - everything. So I would say, carry on for as long as you can/Mimi wants. It's fark all to do with anybody else.

DonDons · 13/10/2008 16:04

congrats Peachy!

Soph73 · 13/10/2008 16:08

yay, go Bas!

Soph73 · 13/10/2008 16:09

Oh god, just had a thought, please tell me I got his name right Peachy I´m useless at the moment!

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 16:16

You did lol

unlike the person who wrote hs card to baby beach pmsl

Soph73 · 13/10/2008 16:22

Aahhh, sweet baby beach

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 16:43

my farking bugaboo has broken!!

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 17:15

oh no! I think Sal's bugaboo broke and she went directly to the company but am sure she'll be along shortly.

Wow Peachy! That's dead impressive.

MommyHasaHeadache · 13/10/2008 17:51

Yay my Tripp Trapp came today and I have set it up and given Gigi her 1st feed in it! She looks so cute in it! Will post a pic later!

Scorpio - in answer to your question re. cushions - yes we have 2 - one for the back rest of the baby set and one for the seat.

Ladybee - sorry to hear that BabyBee has another cold - poor little man - and POOR you!!

And YAY for Bas - what an adcanced little chappie!

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 18:02

oh its ok, it just needs another screw - common fault apparently....shop are sorting it tomorrow for me.

I meant 2 sets - Mimi seems to get hers very dirty! They are so hard to put together - you think you're done and then more bits to add/unscrew etc!

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 18:09

Thankyou for BF help..

I feel guilty because, effectively, i am putting ttc this new baby over her needs, and am i not being selfish because i find so BF easy to not continue?

Also she hates bottles; just another thing to make me think 'sod it', but it takes me a while (6 months +) to get pg, and i don't wanna wait much longer.

I know 6 months exc is supposed to be commended - but i just feel like i am failing her by not continuing - i will not see a positive in it, at all really.

If i do stop after xmas, i will have to give her formula, won't i?

LOL at me never wanting ti bf, then 12 weeks, 6 months alaways seemed more realistic but here i am.......

Sorry for the rambles. Comments appreciated. please note, whoever out of you FF, these are just my thoughts and feelings and no reflections on you whatsoever. Each to their own, in my book.

MommyHasaHeadache · 13/10/2008 18:38

Scorpio - yes it was a bit of a pain! Very easy but like you say, you think you are done and then you have to loosen everything again! Hmm very dirty you say, well I will look to ebay for another set - not spending another £22 for another one!

Re. BF - you do what you gotta do, and just BTW I never take offence, etc.

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 19:16

Fishfingers- tick

ome made butterfly cakes (DF and GF)- tick
PLUM pa and parsnip puree with apple- tick

And he's still fitting in a BF!

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 19:26

Fatty!

oh i tried those ella's pouches...mimi loved them! We tried the orange packet one - carrot, apple & parsnip. she ate a whole one!

pReachyTheExorcist · 13/10/2008 19:38

Ah they love those don't they? I find them easy if we're out and about, squeeze straight onto spoon and don't get that vomit-inducing jellified effect jar ones tend to.

SalLikesCoffee · 13/10/2008 19:39

huh, Peachy, you're talking in tongues! What's bf in this context?

Re bugaboo - yep, ours broke (this was really early in, it was only a couple of weeks old) and I got seriously annoyed with what's supposed to be a good product. turned out it was sent out without one of the really, really essential screws, which led to the chassis pulling apart. How difficult can it be to ensure that the two most important screws are both in place and tightly fixed in place! Anyway, contacted Bugaboo directly and they replaced the whole chassis. Probably would have been fine if Mothercare just fixed it, but as I was annoyed I expected a new one. Now I love it and wouldn't change it for the world, but at the time wondered if I made a huge and expensive mistake (I loved the Maclaren as well, was choice between the two).

at BB (Baby Beach) crawling!!! No signs here, I suspect we'll be stationary for years to come...

Met a friend for lunch, and R ate (uhm, ok really chewed and distributed soggy mush across the table - very appetising) a piece of her bread's crust. Then met dh for lunch (didn't eat twice, honestly) and he ate a piece of the yellow pepper from his salad. It's so weird seeing him chew since he was only just born the other day, wasn't he?!

Ok, now off to click on all your profiles - you better have added pics of all the new equipment and developments, else I'll be really disappointed!
