Baby bowls and spoons - nope, according to hv no need to sterilise. (Btw, I haven't been sterilising any bottles etc either since he was around 3 months and all fine - although this was contrary to hv advice.) I think the reasoning is that, unlike bottles etc, there's not that many small bits where milk etc can get stuck. Oh, and the fact that they play around on the unsterilised ground anyway!

So glad you (Scorpio and MHH) liked that link too - I was so excited when I found it! My other favourite is Feather Down farms, but I'll wait until it's summer and he's a little older (so prob April next year) before I do that. Just looked like such a nice family thing to do in this day and age of electronics.

SalLikesCoffee · 12/10/2008 15:21

A really old but interesting thread re sterilisation.

scorpio1 · 12/10/2008 16:42

added you, and Sal (i think!)

pReachyTheExorcist · 12/10/2008 17:39

scorpio i'm on FB as claire peach

Christenin went very well indeed, will get pics up later

scorpio1 · 12/10/2008 18:14

Peachy - think i got you....

scorpio1 · 12/10/2008 18:17

I'm up as Stephanie Croxton, in a stripy tshirt!

MommyHasaHeadache · 12/10/2008 19:26

Yep you added me!

I added you as well Peachy. Glad to hear the christening went well and I look forward to seeing the pics.

Thanks for the link Sal - very interesting - nice to know it is not necessary to sterilise the bowls and spoons. GOOD!

Well Gigi had her 1st bowl of baby rice today and she wolfed it down! I didn't know if she would take it or not, well, now I know! Think I am going to do a mix of purees and BLW - think I will start BLW at 26 weeks though. Def going to buy the Babycook - a worthwhile investment me thinks.

Yay - my mom is coming to stay next weekend - woo hoo - babysitter!! So DH and I are going out - nothing too exciting - a dinner and a movie, but I can't wait! I haven't been out since my birthday (July).

EllieG · 12/10/2008 22:09

Add me add me add me scorpio! Eleanor Green

(Though I never check it so probably not much point)

Molly doesn't like milk anymore - prefers food. Is a bit of a struggle even getting 20oz in her [sigh].

Really interesting thread on sterilization - I think I have been doing a bit much - I do her spoons and bowl etc - do you think she will get horrid allergies now? Oh dear. Am going to roll her in mud tomorrow.

Was LOVELY day today here - took Molly to the beach for a walk and she played with the sand, was so sweet. She's big enough to be interested in it now, whereas in the summer the beach would have been too stressful. Was fab today though - we buried her feet in the sand and made her all confused

Glad christening went well peachy and that Bas' app with CO was good too.

SalLikesCoffee · 12/10/2008 22:36

Hehehe Ellie, we can never win with being perfect parents, can we?! Oh, I bet you the sand was suitably dirty and if she had a great time, it was probably suitably allergy-eliminatingly ((yes, yes spellchecker, I realise that's not actually a word)) dirty! I'm so jealous that you could go to the beach today! Sounds perfect.

Peachy, glad to hear the Christening went well. Perfect day for it!

You have to laugh at the new eaters amongst us - give them half a chance and you have to fight them to get the spoon back! R still hates vegetables, but I've now decided he has to start with that and can finish with fruit, else he'll eat only the sweets. Hmm, wonder where he gets that from (however, I do like veg if it's suitably salted, so not his fault )...

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 13/10/2008 09:27

Grrrr. I hate having Neighbours.
The house next door to us are so annoying.
The guy is a power tripper, has told me probably twenty times how his dog tears cats apart so to watch the kittens (have you tried stopping 4 13 week old kittens from climbing fences???)
THEN THE NEXT DAY HE WAS AT MY DOOR ASKING TO HAVE ONE.....

Anyway my idiot DP didn't put them all in saturday night so one of them climbed in next door's window. They, nicely, looked after it and bought it round the next day. (which I appreciate) but next thing you know the bloke is knocking on our door complaining that dp has upset his missus (WHAT???)

Seems she has 'social issues' (his words, not mine) and that she hasn't left the house in five years and now she tried to talk to DP who was busy getting the kids out of the car so he didn't stand and chat which has thrown her a bit. Ok, fine I get it, but HOW DARE YOU come round my house and stand on my doorstep having a go because my psychic powers aren't working and I didn't realise she had problems. Inform us, fine, but DON'T COME TO MY FUCKING DOOR GIVING ME SHIT. and leave my fucking kittens alone, they are allowed to go out, if they're in your garden, then fine, I apologise but when they are on MY driveway leave them the fuck alone!

I'm also really fecking annoyed at DD. Since she came back from her residential she has been horrid. She has been lying pretty much hourly, she never lied before and she has got me so angry. She was told to go to her room yesterday for lying about DS1 and trying to get him into trouble and decided to fuck around up there, pulled herself up on her curtain and the whole rail has come off the wall. Great. Yesterday I heard her telling DS1 to shout 'louder, louder' she said. DP asked her about it, she denied it, then had the audacity to start shouting at DS1 that eh was lying, making things up to get her in trouble. I heard her say it, so did DP, DS1 had nothing to with it! She was just saying it to manipulate us into thinking it wasn't true. Oh, and this morning, I go in her book bag. One of her best cardigans is in there.
ME:Why is this in here DD?
HER:no answer.
ME:Well?
HER: Silence.
ME:I'm looking for an answer
HER:I put it in there because I didn't want my room to be messy (BOLLOCKS!!!Her book bag doesn't go anywhere near her room)
ME:You sure? I think you're lying.

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 09:33

oh goodness!

FWIW, your DD sounds like R. Exactly. What was the company like on her trip?

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 09:34

oh vs i cant add u on fb

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 13/10/2008 09:49

I've added you. Is that your married name? I had an email saying I got a message from SC and was like Who???.

I'm not sure company wise tbh, I know her best friend went who is a lovely girl, so it's not from her, but one girl is known for being a little bitch (yes, I just called a 7yr old a bitch)and apparently DD and her are friends now But the lies, OMG! she never lied before, ever and now she can't seem to tell the truth!

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 09:53

R lies too, think its becuase maybe they dont understand as well, try to remember that

C is my married name, M is my maiden name. thought i better start being married now lol

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 10:02

Cold no.6 for the Bee household - I really thought I would get fewer colds while I was off on leave, because I wasn't going to be on the germ pit that is public transport everyday, but B seems to be like a cold magnet, picks up everything and gives it to me. I'm an old pro at handling them now though, got the ol' nasal spray and paracetamol beside me, snot sucker at the ready for B and a day on mumsnet relaxing and staying in lined up.

Re the lying VS, for some reason I have in my head that there is a stage of development where they become better at lying, beyond the basic 'teddy did it' early stuff, so maybe she's hit it and is 'practising'?

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 10:23

Neighbours ARE the worst. I have a frequent 'AIBU' thought at mine, who have two children who play outside most of the afternoon (good), with balls that they seem incapable of keeping in their own backyard (bad). Every single day I go outside and return an average of 7 balls of various sizes that have flown over the fence and into my garden. They must have a collection of about 20 that they steadily work through until they've lost them all to their neighbours' backyards on either side. I now have an unspoken rule that I return them once a day and that's it.
This is such a tiny thing, but it bugs me, especially when I take B outside to lay on the lawn I constantly feel like he's in danger of a flying missile landing on him. Plus they land on the tomatos/on new seedlings/on the fruit trees and damage the plants. And the kids call over the fence at DP (they can't remember my (somewhat unusual) name) to return them, which he hates...although they do generally say 'please' and 'thankyou'

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 10:51
SalLikesCoffee · 13/10/2008 10:56

Hehehe. Hi there. Can't really chat as I have to leave in a couple of minutes, but just wanted to say hi! Good luck with your cold!

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 13/10/2008 11:04

lol, hi LadyBee, I'm just playing on AIBU.

LadyBee · 13/10/2008 11:44

Well I've been doing Jobs while I waited for sir to wake up. Have finally gotten around to calling Orange to cancel my phone contract as am now with another company, and they didn't even try to retain me!!!! Am feeling most miffed.

God I really must not spend enough on my phone for them to not care a bean about whether I stay or go..no wonder they put me on the lowest plan for upgrades . Hey ho. I should feed the boy. That means no laptop usage as he's obsessed with it.

Yes that is what I sound like.

Note this is a NZ accent, and not an australian one, nor an australian trying to do a NZ accent

scorpio1 · 13/10/2008 12:55

well, mango is a huge success! Vvvvvvv messy though, lol. Those of you with tripp trapps, do you have 2 cushions?

Soph73 · 13/10/2008 13:19
