LOL Peachy.
He loves it scorpio.

SalLikesCoffee · 10/10/2008 21:24

Hi again TSC, Ladybee, MommyHasaHeadache and Peachy! So nice to chat again.

Rofl re link Peachy. Particularly funny as dh was looking over my shoulder asking what the carrier looked like, so I clicked on the link to show him. Hehehehe, that'll teach him not to be so nosy!

Alex seems to have a royal time in shower - might try it out on Roelof, as I'm normally a little nervous re bath times when dh is away so most of the time just do sponge baths. (Re epilepsy - I've only ever had it in the morning and this was years ago, but it's always there in the back of your head when someone else's life depends on it.)

MommyHasaH, so sorry to hear you're feeling poorly again. Hope the meds help soon and that you can get some rest. xxx

Went out for a pizza and a beer tonight, stopped on the way back at Tesco. Now ready to eat chocolate mousse

I ordered some of those silver clay PAL linked to the other day. I'm so excited, can't wait to receive it. I paged through two books on silver clay in Waterstones today - it looks great. Both grandmothers are getting finger print jewellery (see here for ideas) for Christmas.

Denny185 · 10/10/2008 21:56

Cool, Im hoping to make one of the long tags with 3 thumb prints on for DH xmas pressie. The glass cufflinks I made last week should have been fired and ready by this weekend, excited to see what they look like.

We went out Wed pm to an award ceremony, DH received a commendation for preventing an armed robbery.

Nice pics scorpio and VS, I really must get my bum into gear and put some more on.

Sal glad u r ok again

Ladybee, dont worry re quanity of food, its just about learning a new skill and experiencing diff tastes and textures.

Our routine vaguely followsGF
7am BF (often wakes 6.30ish but has to sing to self until I can lift head off the pillow)
then has to sit and watch breakfast/dress/teeth/hair for other 2 and me clean kitchen load/unload diswasher and washing machine.
9am school run and dog walk (sleeps for the duration)
10.30 BF
11.45 lunch, mush and veg/fruit bits
12-2/2.30 sleep
2.30 BF
4/4.30 30min nap
5 tea mush and toast
6 bath/BF
7 bed

Whilst awake activity varies from blanket on floor/walk/gym thing/door bouncer/sitting in high chair/being entertained by one of us.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 10/10/2008 21:59

Sal if you do shower then even if you do get problems if the plug is open you know he is safe cos it all drains through.

SalLikesCoffee · 10/10/2008 22:04

Thanks, Denny. Congrats on your dh's award, that's great!!

Oh, I'd love to make cufflinks too, but not sure how to fuse the clay and silver yet, or else where to buy the setting for cufflinks. How did you make the glass cufflinks?
This is such a great idea for Christmas - I owe you.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 10/10/2008 22:05

Well done DH's award. I know now h9ow serious they are. Betcha well proud.

SalLikesCoffee · 10/10/2008 22:07

Yep, that's what I thought too after seeing your pics - I'm definitely trying it out this weekend!

SalLikesCoffee · 10/10/2008 22:10

I'm such a saddo, but I am overjoyed with a gift dh bought me today: a blowtorch It's really in response to a flopped creme brulee from the other day, but I can just think of all kinds of things that I'm ready to flame now, from peppers to the silver clay

Denny185 · 10/10/2008 22:10

Yes v proud although the actual event took place 3 years ago, the perps have been in prison for a year already. Nice quick recognition for their actions.

Denny185 · 10/10/2008 22:13

Cufflinks, I cheated, the cenre i make them in will put the attachments on 4 me I just made the glass fronts. If I can get them to divulge their stockist I will let you know.

Off the top of my head the only place I can think to try is hobby craft but Im sure there must be loads of others.

Denny185 · 10/10/2008 22:15

2 years ago even (really should turn the light on this time of night and check meassages b4 posting)

EllieG · 10/10/2008 22:19

Has taken me so long to catch up on the thread that DD has woken up and I have to go dream feed.

One quick question - she keeps not being hungry for her brekkie despite having practically nothing (1 oz at most)during night - should I start cutting down the dream feed too?

Also wanted to say - I am very sorry if I offended anyone earlier this week - I would not want anyone to feel that their advice was not valued and appreciated by me(VS). I have learned LOADS on MN and love all our differences and debates

EllieG · 10/10/2008 22:30

Hurumph, no one to talk to. Have I killed the thread?

In that case, am going to bed.

Mollyfloss · 10/10/2008 22:55

I'm here lurking! I gave up the 11pm feed ages ago. I thought I couldn't until DD started solids but the paed said it was fine and DD went right through first night. We started having the odd blip though and now she is on solids, just one meal a day at the moment and sleeping like a baby

Is everyone introducing just one new food every three days? that's what the paed told me to do...

pReachyTheExorcist · 11/10/2008 11:39

ok good gitl link. Osteo said good for back

Bas had first session today- as we thought fast birth had caused issues with top half of body- shoukders not rotating or neck flexing properly. he seemed settled after, so we'll see

SalLikesCoffee · 11/10/2008 14:47

That's (kind of - for future) great news. Hope he feels better soon.

That carrier looks great. I've got a BabyBjorn (and a similar South African one), but it really hurts my back. I've also got a friend's Huggabub, but R seems to get a bit squashed in it, I don't think he likes it that much.

LadyBee · 11/10/2008 23:18

I've been thinking about getting a different sling to use in airports in case my buggy goes astray - but I think I'll have to get rid of one of my existing ones first or I'll start getting raised eyebrows from DP.

I went out last night! Without DP and DS! It was lovely, met up with antenatal group for pizza and several glasses of wine. So many glasses of wine that when I got home I knew I wouldn't be fit for feeding when DS woke so took up a bottle and carton of ready-made formula and told DP that he'd need to feed instead . Which he did. After I woke up hearing DS and poked him repeatedly.

Unfortunately I wasted my opportunity to sleep through the feeding because I was convinced DP would fall asleep holding DS and drop him (DP falls asleep in front of the tv so it's not as unlikely as it sounds).
He didn't

Oh - and getting ready to go out last night, I took DS into the shower with me instead of bathing him - good inspiration VS. He was a bit unsure at first but I was holding him firmly and he liked the water sprinkling on his tum. I put his bath support at the far end of the bath and a towel in that so I could sit him that and keep him warm while I got in and out and did my hair etc, then gave him a quick soap-up and rinse.

Have settled down again re: food. I wasn't worried about not giving him enough, more too much (because so far he hasn't turned anything down - little guts) and then him going off milk. But the emotional reaction I was having about it was all out of scale, which I've learnt over the years is usually a sign of me worrying about something else - in this case I think it was to do with me thinking DS liked the food so much he was about to self-wean (which I'd feel like a rejection of my milk). But he's been feeding so hungrily from me recently I can see that that's ridiculous, at least for now, and that he will naturally ease off the milk as he gets bigger and eats more but I don't need to worry about it now.

And so to bed...

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 12/10/2008 00:13

Get a mei tai on ebay.com I LOVE mine.

pReachyTheExorcist · 12/10/2008 08:30

Morning all- Christening today so eeeek in the house LOL

C/O a,mazing- Bas seems to have developed a whole new level of sleep and stayed with dh for ages (hours_ last evening whinging only when needing a feed! - woke 2 times in the night, down from 6!!!

Will post pics later

Denny185 · 12/10/2008 09:19

Peachy thats great news hope the christening goes well

Denny185 · 12/10/2008 09:21

Glad ur feeling happier (less stressed) ladybee

SalLikesCoffee · 12/10/2008 11:08

Oh wonderful, Peachy! Good luck with the Christening, can't wait for pics.

Ladybee, sounds like you had that well-deserved break. (Hope no head-ache next day.) Btw, I love the way you're writing, I always mean to mention it but then baby-brain kicks in...

Quiet morning here, dh let me lie in so I've only just woken up. We're going to a friend's art exhibition later, so I should really get ready, but waiting for the coffee to kick in first.

If anyone's looking for UK breaks with baby in tow, I found this website great. The one currently linked to sounds brilliant - they even have an additional "family" package where they provide babysitting from 7:30 to midnight, including giving the evening feed if wanted, together with a 2-hr lie-in the next morning, where you would settle baby in the kitchen/lounge and then pop back in bed with dh with a newspaper/breakfast while they entertain baby. How lovely does that sound?? This is my version of electronic "window-shopping"

SalLikesCoffee · 12/10/2008 11:11

PAL, if you're around, I wanted to ask you: You know that Todler Holidays gite you went to? Have you ever tried any of their home cooked food deliveries, or did you always cook yourself? We're thinking of next year's holidays and I'm quite tempted by the idea of great French cooking delivered to our door that we can eat with R playing around us. (I'm even more lazy on holiday than I normally am.)

scorpio1 · 12/10/2008 11:30

Sal - Thanks tons for that link. Me and DH were talking of popping off for a dirty weekend before xmas (my bday nov 20th) and dh wanted it just me and him, but i didnt want to stop BF. That looks like the perfect solution..... yay

Ladybee - i am feeling like that about 'food' and BF, too. She still loves the boob though...

Peachy - Have a great day!!

MommyHasaHeadache · 12/10/2008 11:48

Enjoy the Chritening Peachy - look forward to seeing some pics!

What a great find Sal! Have already sent 2 enquiries for later this month. We have decided not to travel to Europe as DH has just been given the date of 1 Nov for an op he needs, so we thought we would stay in the UK.

When is half term?
