Hey, Molly! How are you keeping? Meant to ask how you got on on that business trip leaving dd with your Mum?

Mollyfloss · 09/10/2008 09:26

Hi CM!

That was when A was 9 weeks old and I absolutely dreaded it but once I got going I was fine and A was fine too of course with my Mum and my DH (although my Mum did all the work). I also managed to get all the EBM to Dublin frozen so she only had that when I was gone. I had to go away again about a month ago but my Mum came over this time and it was a lot easier in general. How's your little DS doing?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 09/10/2008 09:37

Hey Molly!
How ya been?

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 09:38

Hi Molly I was going to post on here today to se if you were lurking, how odd! Still in love with your dds name, btw.

DH was very sorry but Mimi had a terrible terrible night last night; and he started swearing at me through gritted teeth because i wanted to leave her self settle for 5 minutes (literally). Just offloading! So tired today.

RE BF & FF....I don't know. I am fully BF at mo, EBM when needed/wanted. Am thinking more and more about swapping over....but its always me who is here nayway so if i have to feed her bottles, what is the point? IYSWIM

We are ttc, havent used contraceptive for a while but i know its not really going to happen whilst im BFing, so i dont really know at what point (in my mind) Im being selfish WRT stopping BF Mimi and ttc again. DC4 will be our last, so i will prob BF him/her forever...any help/ideas/thoughts/comments please? I want a small age gap.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 09/10/2008 09:44

So many people seem to have dropped off the face of the earth.
I miss Paranoidmummy, and toastaddict, and TMP and TLSM and Vacaloca. (just off the top of my head, I'm sure there is more)

Piccalilli2 · 09/10/2008 10:12

Scorpio I think you're very brave (and slightly mad) even thinking about having another one already!! Personally I think you've done amazingly getting to 6 months exclusive breastfeeding with mimi and you shouldn't feel bad if you want to start tailing it off for the purposes of having dc4 - just think what benefits mimi will get out of having a baby brother/sister. but i've never been a 'militant' breastfeeder. From a practical point of view it's prob worth waiting til mimi's fully weaned as she should start dropping feeds anyway.

Piccalilli2 · 09/10/2008 10:19

oh, and my baby girl precious firstborn is 3 today!! How did that happen!?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 09/10/2008 10:39

Scorpio, I've had the same thoughts, I'm still doing a minimum of one night FGS and have only had one period sop doesn't look like no4 will be coming anytime soon, I want a small age gap but don't won't to stop BFing.
Like Picallili says though, when you start weaning, feeds do tail off, by about 8/9months they'll be on about 3 meals a day and start dropping feeds all over the place. By the time B was 8months he was only having a feed before bed, one at lunch and one at breakfast, which was great as I was back at work and it meant I didn't have to stop BFing (but then his top teeth came in, he bit me to buggery and I had a huge supply of EBM so I just used that from about 9months til he was 1.)

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 10:42

thanks both

i have already noticed bf is getting less, she is having little lunch and dinner. are you all doing brekky yet?

i dont even think she would take bottles all the time! i was thinking of going past xmas and then trying to swap - 9mths is a long time for me!

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 11:26

Morning all.
Scorpio - started brekky this morning Nursery said he didn´t eat his cereal (bottled) yesterday but ate his lunch in 10 seconds flat so decided to try brekky first thing, then milk at second feed, then lunch etc. He also had half a banana when he got in yesterday because I felt sorry for him missing his cereal - stupid hey He ate it though. Hope you gave DH a good slap & that he´s pulled himself together & I also think you´re totally bonkers ttc already but you go for it. It´s chip day today which means it´s getting closer to the weekend so even better
Mollyfloss - hi there, great to hear from you

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 11:27

Piccalilli2 - I know what you mean about PFB's, mine was 6 on Sunday, they just grow too quickly

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 11:27

Also meant to say Happy Birthday of course

Mollyfloss · 09/10/2008 11:40

Morning! It's a beautiful day here

Scorpio, if it's you feeding her anyway, there's no point in changing to FF, that's my view anyway. In fact if I got pg while BFing I'd probably continue BFing until A is 1 yr old but that would definitely be my cut off point. I've heard that BFing while pregnant can be quite painful though so maybe not...

Are all the droppers off the face of the earth first time Mum's? I think the whole baby thing is more overwhelming for us and just get carried away etc.

A is only getting dinner at the mo as just started. My Mum thinks I should add brekkie next. What have all you done?

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 11:48

Mollyfloss - I think you´re probably right about the "droppers off" being 1st time mums. With weaning I started Sam on a little bit of veg at lunchtime, then after a couple of weeks did fruit at lunchtime & now he gets veg as his first course then fruit for pud. I started him on brekky this morning - used half his bottle of milk to make cereal & he drank the rest. Yesterday I also gave him half a banana at dinner time (about 6ish), then bath then bottle with baby rice in which he loves but I know most people wouldn´t do that as baby rice is particularly foul However, just do what you feel is right, it´s all trial and error with babies no matter how many you´ve had as they´re all different

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 12:24

That's what i thought Molly, but i do take a while to get pg....

Have uploaded some more pics of Mimi eating

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 13:34

All´s right with the world .... just had my chips and there was chicken left over from the other day so even better

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 13:36

Scorpio - what a happy bunny. She obviously enjoys toast then .. do you put anything on it?

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 13:40

that was marmite toast!

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 13:41

Waiting for my tripp trapp delivery today; i bet they're DIY put ups aren't they

summit else to do

Soph73 · 09/10/2008 13:56

Busy, busy busy

DonDons · 09/10/2008 13:57

at your tripp trapp scorpio! - they look lovely.

am thinking of ditching the bFing in the next week or so too. SHould I just go cold turkey or gradual reduction? Anybody know how long it takes? Do you think it would be possible to retain one feed per day (eg first thing in morning feed) or is it all or nothing?

we're on 3 meals (solids) a day btw

Mollyfloss · 09/10/2008 14:20

Thanks Soph, will follow my nose...

Scorpio, she is too cute!

DonDon's: I'm a first timer but by all accounts I think you come off BF gradually, drop a feed every few days and if you want to keep a feed then just keep feeding at that time every day and your body will keep producing for just that feed.

scorpio1 · 09/10/2008 15:29

Thanks!

God i have spent the last hour and a half doing the sodding highchair

Dondons - wh yare you giving up? Just nosey

beeper · 09/10/2008 15:37

DS2 is 5 months and a week, is 24lbs and still not on solids. The feeding is not excessive, I think I am going to pan it out as long as I can as weaning is such a bloody faff.

Anyway am scared to feed solids as he only goes for a number 2 about once a week

Poor mite has got a high chair and can sit up in it himself but no food...lol

beeper · 09/10/2008 15:37

is anyone from the april thread preggers again yet?
