scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 14:20

Soph - there is always another baby doing something yours isnt, no matter who we are! Mimi is nowhere near sitting unaided yet. But she does roll al lthe way over, round and round the front room, lol

Allergic to fish? Goodness! We have fish every saturday as a rule and i would die without it! We find nice recipes and cook together whilst getting hammered a bit tipsy

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 14:22

my sisters have gone to Portugal together We are already planning next years escape together, plus mates...whoop whoop! Cannot wait!

Soph73 · 08/10/2008 14:32

Forgot to say that the Downs Syndrome Assoc here have given us the telephone number of a couple with a 1 1/5 yr old son with Downs and they speak English I´m going to try and contact them over the weekend because it would be great to have someoone we could actually speak to properly as my Spanish is still so crap it´s difficult to speak to the majority of parents I see when I go to the Hospital. Of course that´s my own fault for being so bone idle over the last 8 1/2 yrs & not learning the language properly

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 14:34

thats great Soph can help you to chat to others, compare, you know they know exactly what you are going through, etc

Soph73 · 08/10/2008 14:39

VSSnS - don´t worry I knew what you meant
Scorpio - I know it´s a bummer, poor DH never gets any .... fish that is and was completely pissed off put out that I put prawns in a recipe for someone who came to DS1s party DH and I do a fair amount of getting hammered slightly tipsy as well, but that´s mainly on a Friday
Nice to see you´re planning ahead Scorpio re next years holiday, which you won´t be going on
It will be nice to have someone here that I can rant and rave to

Soph73 · 08/10/2008 14:41

Obviously that first strike out didn´t work

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 14:45

haha, every word Soph.

Soph73 · 08/10/2008 15:24

DH has just made me do some work - bloody inconsiderate if you ask me

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 16:05

The git.
How dare he?!

Soph73 · 08/10/2008 16:07

And some more ... the liberties some people take anyone would think he was in charge

Peachy · 08/10/2008 16:37

And now?!

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 20:03

oh he is fed up of me apparently, i whinge alot

OK penisbrain do your own children, food, clothes, work paperwork etc

he has said sorry but i am mad

his friend is newly single; maybe he feels left out, lol

LadyBee · 08/10/2008 21:05

hmmm...., maybe.
I expect he'd be silent and constantly content if he was doing your job...yeah right

VS and PAL just wanted you both to know I value your advice immensely. Just getting that post with the link about why the guideline is 6 months was so helpful, especially when all around me IRL my antenatal group were starting weaning and had been given different advice by their HVs. And noone had been able to say 'why' to me. And I really like knowing that PAL will have gone to a lot of effort to find research and share it. Kudos both.

Oh, btw, you probably already know this but for those who don't and are interested...Gill Rapley is doing a book on Baby-led Weaning. It'll be out next month but you can order it advance from amazon.
I think I'm going to get it, hopefully it'll come out in the beginning of Nov and I'll have some ammunition to help me withstand the questioning from mother and the outlaws when I go back.
Which is definitely happening, paid for the tickets and got everything finalised today

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/10/2008 21:17

Men always think the grass is greener on the other side. But the reality is that it isn't.

I have already pre-ordered that book LadyBee - looking forward to getting it.

Ahh you are soo lucky to be going to NZ - I hear the weather is awesome at the moment. How long are you going for?

Mollyfloss · 08/10/2008 22:00

Hello, hello!

To any of you who remember me, apologies for dropping off the face of the planet! I got a bit carried away with my baby. I know it's no excuse... I have been reading the post from time to time but my comments out of the blue would not have been very relevant. I suppose this one isn't either. Anyway all is well here. LO is a little doll & very happy - pure joy . Just started on purees but seeing as so many of you are so keen on BLW I'm going to check it out now. No doubt a combination of both will work for me. Was just wondering are many of you still BFing or are most of you stopping at 6 months?

LadyBee · 08/10/2008 22:25

Still BFing here, am much too lazy to bother with all those bottles AND have to do food things

But one of my RL postnatal friends is trying to start to wean from breast to bottle and keeps getting blocked ducts, so if anyone has any handy hints about doing this, please share and I'll pass them on.

I think I'll probably just keep going but introduce some more bottles over the next three months so that when it comes time for childcare and going back to work it should be ok.

You can tell I haven't actually given this much thought, can't you.

LadyBee · 08/10/2008 22:27

MommyHAH, I'm going for about 5 weeks, from early November to mid-December. I'm hoping we can have an early family Christmas. Would be the first time I would have celebrated Christmas with my family in 11 years.

Mollyfloss · 08/10/2008 22:34

Ladybee, I'm like you, BFing is just easy peasy now and we are going to the US at the end of November and it's easier to have the milk 'in me' than dragging around bottles and formula. I think I'll try to come off by Christmas because I want to give my body a chance to conceive the next LO!
