Whatever Knitter. If that's not splitting hairs I don't know what is. Whether the conversation was specifically about me or not, it being more than one person shows it was more than one comment.

Anyway, Like I said, I don't really care. If people aren't secure enough in their decisions to wean the way they are and be able to talk about it then I can't help that.

KnitterInTheNW · 08/10/2008 12:11

Whatever indeed.

Can we leave all this now please?

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/10/2008 12:13

89p in Morrisons, Scorpio? Think I'll be getting down to our local one - beats forking out £7.99 for a little piece of plastic!

PAL - love the new pics of your LO on FB - VERY cute!

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 12:22

Sure.
On a thread of so many people dealing with emotive subjects we can't be expected to agree all the time.

Piccalilli2 · 08/10/2008 12:23

Hello all

Not posted for ages as laptop broke so I'm completely out of the loop and have no desire to get involved in the big row soooo....moving on

We haven't got a Morrisons anywhere near us but definitely need a splash mat from somewhere as we're starting on the adventure of solids too. I know it's not likely to help with Z's sleeping but still can't help hoping as she's currently waking every 45 mins - 2 hours and will only sleep in my bed which I'm less than happy about as she's now almost crawling and I don't think it's safe. Anyone got any tips for getting her to settle in her cotbed in her beautiful room (waste of time decorating all those months ago!)

My dd1 has a mild tomato allergy and it's definitely worse with raw but she does get a bit of a reaction with cooked too so I guess it's worth trying cooked first before raw.

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:24

M&B mag has free baby cutlery and splash mat this month

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:26

I would do a sleeping bootcamp....it will only take about 3 nights, rule of 3! I would put her down in it, put her back after feeding, etc. She will not like it at first but i had to do this with mimi cos she was loving sharing too much, and we dont like the idea of cosleeping all the time. Just keep putting her back in it.

Piccalilli2 · 08/10/2008 12:27

Excellent! No idea what has happened to the many thousands of weaning spoons I bought for dd1 but they've all disappeared so need some more for Z to throw at the cat.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 12:28

Crikey Piccalli, I moan about Alex waking up in the night still and he is only doing it once or twice.
Weaning hasn't made the difference I thought it did. The first night he slept really well, but last night he was up at 1 and 4, again.
Have you been able to get anyone to take over so you can get some sleep?
Sounds like Z is finding it hard to get into a second sleep cycle if she is waking up after 45 minutes.
Does she nap during the day?

Piccalilli2 · 08/10/2008 12:29

Did Mimi cry a lot when you did it? At the moment Z gets completely hysterical if put in her cot at bedtime

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/10/2008 12:30

Excellent - will pop down to my local WH Smith instead!

I'm off to the clinic later to speak to my HV about giving Gigi a TB jab. Found out the other day that as I am from SA, and as we are going back to SA in Jan, she really should have her TB jab. Poor baby - yet another nasty needle.

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:30

yes she did, but i left her for a few minutes each time, checked etc and we cracked it. Now i don't let her fall asleep at boob anymore, and if she night feeds (about 5am recently ) she feeds and as soon as she pops off i put her back in the cot.

Piccalilli2 · 08/10/2008 12:31

She naps if we're on the move but never more than 45 minutes and even that's a struggle. Can't get anyone to take over as she won't take a bottle. We did have one magic night where she only woke once about a week ago but I have no idea what we did right to achieve it!

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:31

it will take time

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/10/2008 12:32

Piccalilli - sorry can't offer any advice on sleeping as we have our own issues with Gigi's sleeping still! But I will say - good luck and I hoe it comes right!

Peachy · 08/10/2008 12:33

Picalilli we're in the same sit. re waking / our bed- seeing a specialist cranial osteo n Saturday, will let you know how it goes

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:35

Peachy can i pick your brains please?

School just handed me a SALT & OT referral on friday with no forewarning.... they say he doesn't speack in gramtically correct sentences, but i think he is ok?

Also, ed psych won't see him as no resources. Can i get one privately?

SuzeM · 08/10/2008 12:35

Scorpio, I meant how do you make the pizza dough but the sauce base sounds good.

Aw Sal, don't go!! The photos of Roelof are gorgeous.

DH woke us both up with his snoring, then E started singing at 4am. I think I should move into her room.

Peachy · 08/10/2008 12:40

YOu can get a private ed psych. They are bloody expensive!

IIRC bibic do an option with ed psych that was competitive cost wise; consder that. Alternatively I know there is a way of getting ed psych intervetion by force, a friend just did it, will ask her advice for you but have a look at the website sos!sen and call their helpline- I spoke to them yesterday. Bloody amazing people who could probably recommend you someone if you wanted to go down that route- but get the facts re rights first!

SALT / OT- get the reports in place, once thay are there its handy to have them for dx / school whatever if needed.

Peachy · 08/10/2008 12:41

Oh Sal will be badk, she's having a rough time. I will pass on your thoughts.

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:41

so get the salt and ot first, then see?

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:42

thankyou so much peachy

Peachy · 08/10/2008 12:43

You really ned all the reports in place at once- chase them all.

Also if there is any chancve you will be applying for dla in the future start keeping a diary of behaviours etc- does help.

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 12:44

sorry, is dla a benefit? dont think we can get anything....but i will still do that as could help anyway with other things.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 12:46

Suze, sal hasn't gone. I've been talking to her in email.
She is just taking a few days break.

Picallili we tried sleep training too and I think it might have been that that made the difference. Thing is I'm too lazy to keep it up so only did it a couple of times plus I did it on a day DP had work and the DCs had school next morning which probably wasn't the best idea

We started by giving A his usual shower and feed and putting him to bed for about 7:30pm. When he woke up we comforted him straight away (I'm all for a little bit of crying but couldn't do CC), he kept crying in my arms and I knew it would be so much easier to just feed him and then put him back to bed as soon as we stopped him crying put him back down. We did this three times and each time he lasted 20 minutes before crying again, then he slept for most of the night.
I might try doing it again at the weekend.
