What about marmite on toast? Or malt loaf? I think A would live off that if I let him.
I've started the tomato intolerance on A now, this is the one I'm most worried about with him as I am allergic, or at least was intolerant when young. We've started with a bit of cooked passata in a bolognese type sauce and will gradually go to raw toms, I am right in thinking that it's normally raw that are the worst right?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 07/10/2008 22:45

Sal, you haven't said or done anything to offend me, I'm sure you know me well enough by now to know that I'd have named you if you had.

Coooooome baaaaaaaack.

Peachy · 07/10/2008 22:47

Not sure about raw tbh, would make sense but it's not oe I've encountered before tbh. I do know milk works that way- cooking breaks down allergens.

Sal, if you read this are you ok?

SushiMama · 07/10/2008 22:52

Hello everyone,
You've all been busy! Teething, weaning, xmas shopping even! I'm still trying to settle in at the nursery, which is not going so well. Iz has also regressed in night time sleep so it's been rather exhausting. Not sure if it's the teeth coming through as people seem to ask, but she's been "teething" for months now, and still no sign of anything.

VS- wanted to second MHAH in appreciation for your advice and opinions during bf-ing, and weaning. I was appalled at a friend who's LO is 3 months that she was going to give baby rice as she was sure that the baby needed it cos both herself and DH have really high metabolisms! And that her friend who was a Paed rubbished all the wait-till-17 week advice. So, long story cut short, if I didn't know any better, my LO would be on baby rice by now! So thank you

So what's with all the red baby sets on the Tripp Trapp? I've also got a red one, with walnut base, and Art Stripe cushion. Dreading cleaning it when blw-ing though. Yikes! DD's still only 24 weeks, so haven't set the chair up yet, but dying to start blw-ing her just to see what it's all about, but also dreading it at the same time. Rather sad not to be able to bf soon! But the cheeky monkey has been biting recently, and when I tell her off, gives me the biggest and widest grin ever!

Denny185 · 07/10/2008 22:59

Ahhh nice pics, R looks like a v happy little boy.

Yes baby rice, its minging stuff, not sure why it turns to a liquid. I use it for 'blanding' things down or changing texture.

Peachy · 07/10/2008 23:02

Ah baby rice- work of the devil imo. I will ahve none of it. Food should be enjoyable, not penance!

Spalshmats are essential imo; a second hand / cheapo shower curtain if you want cheap, or metre of cath kidston oil cloth will also cut it though. But use SOMETHING

chipmonkey · 07/10/2008 23:39

BTW, I have that Babycook since ds3 and it is fab! The nice thing I found about it was that if we were having something overly spicy/unsuitable for babies, I could cook up some mince, a potato a carrot and a little onion for ds3, it was ready in no time and he loved it! Also, my Mum's house is minging so it was nice to be able to cook for him without having to find a usable/clean saucepan. And though ds4 isn't weaned yet, I now use it to make salad dressings and blend small amounts of food.
So any gearhead who's now trying to justify the expense to themselves.....It's worth it!
God Peachy, an intolerance to tomatoes would throw most of my recipes out the window! I did find a fabulous book once in Easons about cooking for allergic children, written by a chef whose dd was allergic to nearly everything! IIRC he made a ketchup with bananas which I thought was ingenious! I'll see if I can find what book it was...

SushiMama · 07/10/2008 23:49

Yes I did look at the Cath Kidston oilcloths yesterday, but decided to go for a shower curtain instead. Thanks for the link for splashmat too! Will take a look at that.

Btw, I probably should get chair covers for our white (cloth) dining chairs. Am thinking of clear covers. Does anyone know where I can get these or something similar? Ta

KnitterInTheNW · 08/10/2008 08:23

Are these any good, SushiMama?

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 09:11

splashmats are 89p in my morrisons

scorpio1 · 08/10/2008 09:11

Red baby set is unisex

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 09:21

Oh, I meant to say Peachy, MHaH, Sushimama, thanks.

PortAndLemon · 08/10/2008 10:47

I am sorry I offended you by cross posting and looking as though I'd deliberately posted after "it" was supposedly sorted. And sorry you felt I was attacking you. As you said, you don't tiptoe around people and think people should just say what they mean, so I didn't think I needed to tiptoe around you. I have reread the previous thread, and this one, and I think we have interpreted various posts differently.

And sorry you don't want to be friends. Now I'll keep out of your way.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 10:52

Cross posting? There was almost an hour and a post by you in between that post and mine and Knitter's

PortAndLemon · 08/10/2008 11:01

Strangely enough, I took my time over posting and rephrased things several times as I was trying to be direct without offending you. As that failed spectacularly, probably I should just have gone with my first draft and posted right away. Clearly you don't believe me; clearly you don't believe Knitter when she says she wasn't talking about you behind your back. That's your prerogative.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 11:14

But that makes no sense PaL. An hour posting I can totally understand, I do it myself sometimes when trying to post something that could be quite sensitive. It's the post in between that makes it look odd.

As for knitter not talking about me, What does "I know of a couple of other ladies on this thread who just haven't mentioned what they're doing re weaning, because of the response they'd get." mean then?
A couple of other ladies? How could she possibly know that if they hadn't said it to her?

Anyway, that's not what bothered me. It's the insinuation that Kaybee didn't come back because of me and the added insult that that's a bad thing because I could have helped her with the ringworm. She posted one question, in what six months? I answered it, she didn't like the answer and hasn't been back since. That is not down to me.

KnitterInTheNW · 08/10/2008 11:29

I do talk to people, and things are said. In conversation. Not because we're talking about you.
