I really love waitressing, its like a get away something totally non baby related! Not that I dont love being a mummy but its good to do something else if that makes sense. And the people that I work with are great its always good fun. And the money is good in the sense that after a nights work I actually walk away with some cash so it feels worth wile.

What did you do in the school? I try to think now that I will have a proper career at some point but when its ment to happen it will and for now I'm happy being a mummy

madmouse · 07/10/2008 22:04

hey why the for waitressing? it is an honest job and blooming hard work too and a nice waitress can really make a meal

hoping for a bit of stability for your dp lily. he has worked hard enough for it. I have said it before but dh being a rev means we are incredibly stable and live in a free house, feel very priviliged. and my job is safe as long as govt continues to refuse people asylum, visas and human rights applications (ie for ever - although they have taken away a lot of appeal rights while still making cr*p decisions)

cazzy so nice to hear that izzy is so determined. so is Nathan. he always has what dh calls a 'project' on the go, at the moment it is trying to crawl. He has a special scream that goes with it we let him get on with it until we reach hysterics and then we pick him up and say time out.

lily not sure about the special mummies, you find new qualities in yourself I think.

Hi all,

I'm really sorry but I do read but I just don't know what to say this time.
Nathan and Issy truly are inspirations to all of us and I hope they get the extra special help that they need to grow up into the toddlers they can be.

We're going on holiday on Friday we're going to southport Friday to see his family again (not been since aaliyah was about 1 month old) then were going onto Blackpool on Saturday night and coming home on Sunday. Just been sorting out cat care.... lol7 cats is a lot of care!!!

I'm busy making a list of things that need doing before we go away (I LOVE lists)

Got my fireguards and safety gates this morning so no more panic and turns out completely free woohoo.

Spent the day at my mums today and had a lovely time the 3 of us playing together. She's worn out now and sleeping like an angel. Also to counter the heat problem we have a fleecy babygro for her now (parents bought it) which I've put on instead of sleeping bag as will keep her arms warm too. Dad has said he'll come this week to look at the heating and shower to see if he can fix it.

Also they may be contributing towards the car seat and have agreed to let us know tomorrow so I can go get it in time for Blackpool....

Am stupidly excited now and cant sleep even though am knackered!!
DD woke up LOADS last night. Mum thinks she can see a tooth on the bottom row not cut yet but there so that maybe the problem. I gave her calpol, a bottle, hugs alsorts but nothing made her happy.

Lilyloo · 07/10/2008 22:16

MM thanks! I hope we get some stability too that's what scares me giving up my job as working for the council pretty stable as much as it can be! Think this has been a testing year for us and will be glad to see the back of it tbh! DP rang and said he was worried along with others on his course i tried to gee him up whilst reeling inside as his course this week is very hard and i know he is having/had lot's of stress recently.

Great news about Nathan and love 'project on the go' that just sums up dd too everyday is a new challenge today she managed to dismantle my mums photo and frame ( and i am sure if my mum was still here she would have been laughing )

Lucky we went to Southport last weekend and spent best part of day on beach. Had walk down pier and ds watched the skateboarders then dd went on carousel. Had lovely day hope weather improves for you been very windy and rainy up this way today !

LuckySalem · 07/10/2008 22:18

Oh looks like we're going to have another night of this. I just don't know what to do. she's been so happy all day (same as yesterday) and now she's become this screaming baby? I've given her more calpol, checked her temp and all good. I just don't know.

Cazzybaby · 07/10/2008 22:20

Hi Lucky - hope you have a lovely holiday, I'm also a list lover, have a special book which i write all my lists in how sad am I!

Sounds like you have had a really productive day getting things sorted did you get the firegards and safety gates of freecycle? 7 cats!! how do you find time to look after 7 cats and DD!??? Hope DD sleeps better tonight and that her teeth finally come through!

Madmouse - we are nowhere near crawling yet, but over the last few weeks have mastered rolling (and Izzy has almost learnt to get her arm out that keeps getting stuck!). I know what you mean about the special scream, Iz has a frustrated grunt that she does when she gets really stuck, I can tell she is trying so hard but just cant get herself into the position she want to

LuckySalem · 07/10/2008 22:23

Cazzy (sorry you weren't here during all this lol) I'm not a crazy cat lady. 2 are mine and i've got a mother and her 4 kittens here on foster till they find a new home.

No the gates etc came from Surestart (or something like that)

Cazzybaby · 07/10/2008 22:23

x posted with you lucky, maybe you will wake up tomorrow and DD will have a lovely new tooth to show you!

Cazzybaby · 07/10/2008 22:26

you made me giggle lucky, about not being a crazy cat lady! Thats a lovely thing to do (fostering cats), we had a kitty cat from RSPCA she died just after DD was born as she got v poorly , how are the cats with DD?

LuckySalem · 07/10/2008 22:29

Absolutely fine. They are MUCH better than I expected. We own Lucky and her son Salem and Salem is so loving towards her. He used to sit by her bouncer to make sure she was ok. Now he allows her to pull at him and alsorts and purrs away. Lucky is more reserved and stays well clear of her! lol

The foster cats are ok... the kittens must be scared stiff of her as the only times they've been together she's "stroked" them (she pats them on the head rather hard for 5 weeks old kits) so I think they'd (rightly) be a little scared of her but at least we can say to any potential home that they are child-proof!! lol

Lilyloo · 07/10/2008 22:41

MM wow are we wise b'fers of mnet Still feel like i don't know enough to be posting on them threads after bf 3 dc's

Cazzybaby · 07/10/2008 22:42

Cats are very funny animals, my cat (who was the most unaffectionate cat in the world) used to lay accross my bump when I was pregnant. Before that she would never sit anywhere near me!

How long are you likely to have the kittens for?

LuckySalem · 07/10/2008 22:46

They'll be here for another 4 weeks around then they'll be off but mum has to be spayed before she'll have another home.

JustKeepSwimming · 08/10/2008 08:16

morning all

well ds2 up at 3, fed and back to sleep this time thank goodness, then up at 6, ds1 up at 6.30. not too bad
my bed was sooo warm and cosy at 6 i really didn't want to get up!

ds2 back to bed already for his nap, we are off to visit a pre-school later so hope he fits his nap in and we can go on time.

lucky - a trip away sounds like a great idea!
glad you got the gates, and for free, fab

we have 2 cats too, they have learnt to stay away from ds1, though he dearly loves to touch them, ds2 loves watching them and they have realised he can't chase them...yet!

cazzy & madmouse - remember my ds2 STILL isn't rolling so not all non-suspected cp babies are doing what they are meant to!
he has started bum-shuffling though, hooray! and oh no! as he reached some candles yesterday, so have to start watching him now! i know i've had it so easy with him being so lazy chilled up to now, now the trouble will really start! ds1 will have to learn to put his toys out of the way sharpish!

wrapped some christmas presents yesterday
that way if ds1 sees them, he won't know what they are straight away...
just his fire engine - ebay
a book - half price in tesco
a tractor - from the charity shop yesterday for 75p!

still no great ideas for ds1, was thinking of a pull-along dog?
also saw a peppa pig remote car for ds1, anyone got one? any good?
def will get my helium balloons from asda or similar, not paying ridiculous prices when they will be happy with any old one

got friends coming round later, invited the usual group +1 who has just moved to the area, and they are all coming, oops! may be a few too many toddlers, ah well...

lily - your poor dh, he must be so stressed out i asked my dh a week or so ago (who used to work for barclays, where most of our money is) if barclays would struggle and he said no way....! who knows what will happen, don't know if the announcement due today will help???

and hey, waitressing sounds fab to me! if my dh worked locally more i would love to get an evening job nearby. my best ever job was working in whsmith one christmas - on my feet for 8 hours or more and i lost so much weight - whilst eating christmas food - excellent
pub work has featured heavily too, but not so good for weight loss what with free drinks here and there, and chips for tea
teaching way too stressful, not going back there!
my one day a week job is in an office, mostly filing/shredding/low stress stuff so i enjoy that.

right, waffling now, sorry!

Gingeme · 08/10/2008 09:44

jks how do you have so much brain power to type all that that time of the morning. Your a pro Mummy
Had a 'busy' night with George. He woke about 2am so I tried to pupd for a while. He just got louder and crosser. Gave him his bottle which he realy wasn't interested in and only drank about 3oz. Settled back after about 20 mins. Then he woke again at 4.30 but had a big burp and managed to settle after a cuddle and rubbing his back then he woke at 6.48 where dh got him up with the other boys for the day.
I have found a long lost friend on facebook I used to work (yes I did work at one point) with her at Safeway. She hasn't changed realy. She says the same about me. We used to go nightclubbing on a Friday and dance all night oh to be young again
Well off to Tesco soon.
Hope you all are well. xx

JustKeepSwimming · 08/10/2008 11:56

truth is gingeme - i'm just a chatterbox
and when dh is away i find i don't get to speak to anyone for hours on end and MN is perfect for a chat!!!

but i do go on i know, sorry!

pre-school visited went well, ds1 will start one day a week in november, then 2 days from january when i've dropped his second day at nursery, clear? as mud i'm sure...

ds2 given up on the day and gone back to bed, ds1 and i need some cheese toasties for lunch, yum....

LuckySalem · 08/10/2008 13:34

Oh i'm having a nice day today I'm knackered cos DD was screaming again last night and i've got a cold

On a plus side DD is now happy as larry standing against the patio door with the sun shining on her face banging the crap out of it shouting "dad dad dad" lol. So she's cute enough to not make me feel too bad

Gingeme · 08/10/2008 13:37

Lol lucky. Can just picture it. Funny George says 'Mumumumumum' and he clicks his mouth too. Weather hes just feeling his new teeth but it sounds like clicking.
OMH another old work mate has found me. Think this is getting a bit scarey. Might have to have a meet up.

LuckySalem · 08/10/2008 13:39

I think Facebook is handy for stuff like that. I found all my old performing arts college friends and its so funny how many of them are doing NOTHING related to the course!!

DD does that tongue clicking thing too, I don't know what that's about. She makes alsorts of wierd noises that i'm trying to understand. The closest to mum i've heard is um... lol

Lilyloo · 08/10/2008 20:00

Evening all quiet on here today!
Have had nice day went out for lunch with some friends and took little ones to play in play area!
Then took dd1 dancing and taught ds how to tie his shoelaces he was so pleased he showed all his friends on the street when he came home
Hope the bank situation stabilises after todays news (fingers crossed emotion)
Also am going to do some cleaning / ironing for my dad to bring in some extra cash which will be good as can take Martha when dd at pre school and ds at school!

JKS glad the pre school visit went well!

Lucky hope dd improves and your cold goes soon! Lol at patio doors dd does that squashing her face on them and blowing rasberrys can't help but laugh!

Gingeme wow you going to have a whole new group of friends soon and maybe even a socail life

Off to watch restaraunt evening all

simpson · 08/10/2008 20:03

Hi all

I am back!!

Being at home went really well DD was a little star and much happier in her own bed etc.

DS on the other hand REALLY hard work. Think he is "punishing" DH iyswim for "disappearing" Everything DH asked him to do he refused, he would not go to park with DH, DH cooked his tea and he flung it on floor etc...

DS constantly wants to know where I am guess he is worried i'll "disappear" too

Probably going to stay over on Friday and Saturday.

I have a day off from Dcs on Sat and going out for meal in the Randolph Hotel in Oxford!!

Off to watch supernanny!!!

AngeChica · 08/10/2008 20:14

evening all.

MrsMc??

DS slept through last night (after weetabix at bedtime!!) but I had a nightmare and woke up shouting "Help me, help me" no wonder DH told me to shush, he must have been worried what the neighbours would think ;!!

So off for an early night, no work til Monday though, hurray!

we had tears before bedtime, the teeth either side of the front four are all popping through. His front 2 teeth look really gappy though. When he cries he looks like one of those cartoon babies!

JustKeepSwimming · 08/10/2008 20:26

Lily - think i may look in M&S for that book when i'm next in, didn't want to pay for p&p for just that and i know myself i would end up buying more to 'justify' the p&p
well done ds!!

simpson - so so glad it went well, apart from ds i guess though would i be mean to say dh deserves a little bit of a hard time? sorry if that's being too harsh on him...
the weekend sounds fun

on reflection that does sound harsh, sorry mr simpson i don't have experience of mental health issues, only siding with mrs simpson on having such a hard time of it at the mo.

well we had far too many people round this afternoon, normally someone or two can't make it for various reasons but everyone made it today! so had 6 mums, 6 toddlers & 4 babies...
and one mum has not met the others before as she's just moved here. at one point she went to get something from the car and left the front door open one of the toddlers went for a short walkabout and was brought back by another mum, not sure how far she got, whether just to the door or further apologised to that mum on behalf of new friend but made me feel bad/sick that i'd invited her and it could have gone so badly wrong....
not sure i will invite her with the others again
not sure i've explained that well but am on glass 2 to cheer me up

am compiling a list for stockings from another thread and bidding/watching a few more ebay bits. still need ideas for ds2, what are all the first-time mums getting LOs for Christmas??? need ideas!

JustKeepSwimming · 08/10/2008 20:28

x-post Ange - good news on the teeth coming through, and on last night's sleep - hope it's repeated tonight without your nightmare!

yes MrsMc hope you are ok and dh & ds are too....?

Lilyloo · 08/10/2008 20:39

JKS IT WAS £1 DELIVERED !!!
