Madmouse - how is Nathan's cough? Think DD has finally caught Ds's cough

Gingeme - my friend has a P & T and DS (3.1) sat in it fine. Not as much room in the seat as my double but my buggy is a mile wide

Lilyloo - Hope revision going ok.

Lucky - How is the tooth?

Angechica - at 12-18mth clothes although thinking about it DS was the same at that age. DD still in 6-9mths.

Rubysmom08 · 02/11/2008 20:14

hiya ladies, hope everyone is well!

mm- Glad Nathan is getting better, the virus is still hanging round Ruby but she is much better than she was.
We're getting a P&T pushchair at xmas, think they are £340 with the doubles kits at mothercare at the mo which is really reasonable I think! Have a brand new Pilko Prammette that I have no idea what to do with now!

Is anyone else having problems with eating? Ruby is just been so fussy, keeps pushing food away and doesn't attempt finger food at present - do you have any advice as I felt liuke lying of the kitchen floor today and crying at dinner time!

AngeChica · 02/11/2008 20:57

this sounds odd Bluebell but it works for me, if DS is fussing for no reason, I give DS some bread and butter and then i can shovel in his food while he is playing with the bread, without him fussing. Otherwise I don't force it, just go back to tried and trusted like rusks, fruit puree, yogurt, egg and toast etc.

DS has developed a hacking cough over the course of today - going to turn in as I expect we are in for a rough night.

Rubysmom08 · 02/11/2008 21:02

Thanks Ange- I am so stressed about it! Ruby has only ever had my cooking she's never had a jar and I am contemplating buying a few in because maybe she is sick of my cooking?

Do you think she is eating enough:

7oz follow on formula
1.5 wetabix +banana

Cauliflower Cheese
Yoghurt

4oz follow on milk
Lamb and veg
Yorkshire pud
Yoghurt

Also about 9oz of water/diluted juice?

She has never been a big milk drink so 10-16oz per day is all she takes ..

Thnks xx

Lilyloo · 02/11/2008 21:15

Hey all lot's of revision done today but not so sure as when i checked off answers i got about 50% wrong this is going to be close to the wire!
DD still not too great but at least started eating today! Have been to bonfire and fireworks tonight she didn't even blink an eye obv use to the noise
Simpson about neighbours ggrandad but def believe honesty best lo's are very straight forward i find when it comes to death if explained properly. Think the police would have been a formality just to check!

LaT it's a great feeling sounds like it had become a habit!!

Gingeme lol at normality in some ways like being back to normal but school/preschool run again!!

Ange called into my local carboot this am didn't get much but gutted didn't have enough money for a mamas and papas rocking snail bargain £10!
This will be the first year dc have got some second hand toys/books for xmas rather than all new but we usually have to put it on cc and haven't this year and i have nearly finished so ?

Ruby my dc's have always been fab eaters so can't help but sympathis as dd2 has been poorly and not eating so know it's a worry! Guess you just have to keep trying my dc have all loved finger food. Martha won't eat jars or really anything i feed her but loves finger food!

MM Nathan sounds like he is going to be on the move anytime maybe your xmas pressie ?

JKS hope your sat in the restaraunt with dh as we speak and having lovely time

simpson · 02/11/2008 21:19

Bluebell - sounds to me like she is getting enough. But I know how stressful it is feeding a Lo who just refuses it!! have not had it with DD yet (she is a fab eater) but DS was truly shocking at times when he was a baby and i used to resort to jars.

I used to buy plum/organix pots and add stuff to the puree ie couscous/veg/mice etc.

Could she be ill? Maybe sore throat? That might stop her eating.

To give you an idea, this is what DD eats in a day:

8am - 5oz ff
8.30 large bowl of porridge & pureed fruit
11.30am - 5 ozs ff
12.30 - lunch (today she had tomato soup & hipp pudding jar)and water to drink.
3.00 - 5ozs ff
4.30 - tea(today BLW veg/couscous/turkey) some pear for tea but not much
6.00 - 5ozs ff then bed

Think she had two mouthfuls of banana at some point...can't remember when

simpson · 02/11/2008 21:22

Ooops - LOL DON'T add mice meant mince obviously!! Don't go murdering any mice!!

LuckySalemWITCHTRIALS · 02/11/2008 23:59

Just quickly.

Aaliyah has been unwell. We put her onto Follow on Milk which has bunged her up. She got up yesterday at 7am and wouldn't sleep all day. She tried to poo twice - first was solid (sorry if TMI) like rabbit pellets, second more normal but as I wiped her there was blood which looked like it had come from a cut outside rather than inside. Put her to bed at 7pm and she kept waking every 10 mins or so and screaming so at 10pm I got her up and she was BOILING, screaming, shaking. I gave her an hour to cool down on our bed, then gave her a bottle which she threw back up. After this hour she was still boiling - Tried in vain to get hold of DP, rang NHS direct who said they'd ring within 25 mins 45 mins later no call so I rang a taxi to take me and DD to DP's work.

Got there and no-one around. I went looking for him and bumped into a workman who I assumed worked with DP and asked him to find him for me, when he said he didn't work for (DP's work) I broke down crying at which point the poor workman just didn't know what to do... He found DP for me who rushed around telling everyone he had to go. We get home (after deciding that DD was happier now she'd seen daddy) to find a msg on phone to say NHS would ring back in 5 mins, phone goes. Explain all this to woman who says all ok - just give her calpol. Told her I had no calpol only baby nurofen. She said it might be dangerous to give baby nurofen when she's bled from the back passage and to ring out of hours doctor (thought that was what NHS direct was) so did that. Asked him if it were ok to give her nurofen when she's bled and he asked to see her (this is now 1am) so we go to hospital he examines her - including ears and throat during which she nearly threw up on him. Told me all ok and she can have nurofen.
Take her home - new bottle, nurofen, bed. Still awake at 3:15 (bearing in mind she'd not slept all day and normally only goes for about 4 hours before being too tired) Finally fell asleep at 3:30 and back up at 7am.

Still wingey (prob too tired) so breakfast, bottle and sleep from 10:30 till 2:15. Then still wingey so we went to my mums where she was happy, giggling etc but wouldn't sleep again even though you coudl tell she was knackered.
Mum told me to take hard line and so I brought her home and put her in her cot (after another dose of nurofen just in case) where she yelled for about 5 mins, I went back in to comfort her and lie her back down again which made her worse. So I just lay on the floor next to her and waited for her to fall asleep - next thing I know DP is telling me to go to bed cos I'd fallen asleep on the floor.

Went to bed and can't sleep cos of my fricking tooth!!
I feel soo worn oout!!

Sorry no personals but I hope you can understand. I'm going back to bed now (hopefully)

JustKeepSwimming · 03/11/2008 06:50

Lucky - what a trial! hope she's better today, prunes?

Simpson - poor you having to deal with that, but sure it made it easier on him and his family having your help

had a nice weekend - in that i didn't have to do too much, had a lovely diner out last night thank you! we were back early cos we're both so tired but it was lovely just to sit and talk. said to dh we really must try not to eat dinners in front of the tv all the time as we just veg out then go to bed and i feel like i haven't had a chance to 'tell' him anything.

ds1 back on sleep track - with the help of bribery from grandma a button for each smiley face, now sleeping 7-6.15, hooray!
ds2 back to 2 feeds a night [yawn
i have been expressing which may have messed up my supply, oops! but i need to send some milk in with him to nursery today. hope/think i have enough for 2 small feeds. was a challenge as i only got 1oz the first couple of goes.
so, i'm back to work today! only my 1 day a week but still, another little step back towards 'normality' whatever that is.
so both boys to nursery 9.30-5 today, really not sure how ds2 will cope....[worried]

LaT - hope the sleeping still going well?

re the p&t for 2 toddlers - the doubles seat (extra one) has a weight limit of 15kg. ds1 is now 15kg+ so he's not meant to sit in that one, sometimes he still does if i just want to speed up a bit and he's dawdling but to by it new for 2 toddlers wouldn't make sense IMO, unless they are small (ginge - your boys don't look like tiddlers in the photos ).

hope pgs going well

yawn, off for tea, sorry if i've missed you

LaTrucha · 03/11/2008 09:28

Sorry for ALi's illness Lucky. Is she better today.

Sorry sleep still awful MM.

Sorry - something just happened so I can't see the rest of the messages to do a catch up.

All this talk of P+T is making me jealous because I was going to get one but then my baby shop lady persuaded me not to. She has got two sets of twins and a little baby so she does probably know what she's talking about but they do look good.

On the upside I did just get a really snuggly fleecy cosytoe for our pram and I love it. DD sits feeling the fur and grining as if it's a big joke.

It took Sabela 12 minutes to go to sleep on her own last night. I reassured at 3, 5 minutes but she was asleep before the 7 minute check. She woke twice in the night. The first time she put herself back to sleep. The second time she tried to but started crying. I reassured her after 3 minutes and by the 5 minute check she was asleep. So, CC is great for us at the moment. I honestly don't think it would have worked 3 weeks ago though.

Got to go.. Sabela grizzling.

Oh, but does this sound ok? Because we were away we've still been using jars of food. Sabela will eat biscuits, bread and cheese but oither than that she's still on mush. Is that ok? I tried pasta but she just sucked the sauce off and spat most of the pasta

LuckySalem · 03/11/2008 13:16

Aaliyah all better today - she must have just been overtired over the past few days. She's chasing all the cats now and squealing away so all good.

Will keep you updated! Got dentist today [scared]

nicky6 · 03/11/2008 14:29

hi all
back from hols. lovely week with charlie my mum and my sister but terrible weather which was a shame.

all good here still no teeth and no movememnt from charlie but very observant and points to my nose the lights etc when asked where they are - very cute.

SO she just sits - unlike everyone else who is running around.

She seems a bit out of sorts though so I think teeth may be on their way.

Hope everyone is well.

Only a few weeks then back to work for me although I wont find out til next week if I have my nursery place argggh.

Gingeme · 03/11/2008 15:04

jks I have been to the P&T website and they do so many different models. I just always thought it was the standard red ones you always see about.
My rl friend has told me of a buggy shop near here and the guy who owns it is realy helpful so we might pay him a visit at the weekend.
Thanks for all your help though

Gingeme · 03/11/2008 15:05

Good luck luckysalem.
Hi nicky6 glad you ha a good holiday apart from the weather

simpson · 03/11/2008 15:41

Hi all

Just got back from visiting a friend whose daughter is the same age as DS. He had a great time.

Lucky - hope dentist goes ok!! Poor you for yesterday

LaT - DD very good with lumps considering she has no teeth!! But DS was truly shocking and had very mushed up food till he was 18mth old He used to spit out all the bits he didn't want!! But he is fine now...I just started offering more sandwichy things etc. My friends little boy is 14mths old and still has quite mushed up food.

Nicky - Another one here who just sits!!

JKS - Glad you had a good night out last night am very

Gingeme - Am very of you getting a P & T!!

Gingeme · 03/11/2008 16:47

Just been checking the P&T website. All of them say 0-5 years! Oh I'm confused

LuckySalem · 03/11/2008 17:20

Been to the dentist. Got to play with the cool G&A which in all honesty didn't really do anything! lol.
Aaliyah sleeping again - she's been better today but still slightly wingey so I think she's still catching up.

AngeChica · 03/11/2008 20:26

Sounds like you had the night from hell Lucky but glad Aaliyah is better.

Lily, Ebaying so far: watching 2 M&P Ladybird rockers at the moment, local collection. Also one of those Bounce and Spin zebras is going locally as well.

Tried DS one of those 10 month+ meals with with larger bits of pasta and they all came back out of his mouth so will leave it for a few weeks. He definitely likes home cooked food better than jars now. Food routine sounds similar to what others have mentioned above but he has 2 x 7 oz bottles a day now.

I do like the look of P & Ts but I always think the one in the back of inline double buggies doesn't get to see anything much?

DS has nasty cough - worried getting chest infection in fact, may have to go to docs before work tomorrow to check it out. Childminder will still take him if he's ill, as she only has him through the day so can give him one to one care. But I'm not too sure what to do as I hate to leave him if he's poorly. But I think I have to take annual leave and I don't want to use it up in case I need it IYSWIM!?

Lilyloo · 03/11/2008 21:46

Evening all well did test paper today and got a .............................. D
Martha seems a bit better today but has also got two new top teeth and another just popping through poor thing it's been a tough week for her

Simpson now it's coming to giving in my notice i feel really sad how was it for you ?

Lucky what a night hope she is on the mend! And you !

Ange well you should get one of them surely! Have been watching a bounce and spin but worried it will take up too much room! Just had someone collect dp's old office chair and whiteboard tonight for £30 so hoping we can use it for me to go out for my birthday in couple of weeks!

Nicky glad you had good hol shame about the weather where did you go ? Enjoy Charlie keeping still it's much easier

JKS glad you had good night agree it's far too easy to get into habit of eating and vegging with laptop and wine in my case!

Gingeme sorry don't have any experience of p and t did you get buggy board ?

madmouse · 03/11/2008 21:57

gingeme the normal Phil and Teds that you mention that everyone has in red is the Sport, which i have (although i have it in sand as everyone has it in red ) or if it is a very old on the E3 which preceded it. They are bringing out new and funky models I have seen that.

LaT you have inspired me to tackle controlled crying, on a bit of a whim tonight. Nathan woke up half an hour after going to sleep and just wanted to be picked up again to fall asleep on me, I tried just patting and holding his hand, but he was having none of it and I got kinda fed up.

Checked in with him at 1,3,5, 10 minutes and he fell aleep halfway through the next slot, so after about half an hour in total what a fury! then very plaintive, like a kitten, then fury again and suddenly deafening silence. not sure I would be up for it at 3am though, but I do not normally have problems then.

keep the success stories coming

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 03/11/2008 22:00

LaT MM good luck we going to do it again tom if dd better by then!
Although last night gave us hope that all our good work hasn't been undone as she slept from 10 until 3 so hoping all not lost and back to no feeds between 10 and 5 when she better!

madmouse · 03/11/2008 22:02

ange you are entitled to parental leave, but it is unpaid, so not sure that helps.

Lily, sorry, foreign educated here, is a d a pass or a fail? impressed by teeth, you think that is why she was poorly?

been ebaying here as well

wintercoat for Nathan
cot bumper as sir has learned to shuffle all the way up to the top of his cot but not down again, so bumps head
footmuff. not prepared to pay crazy p & t price for something like that. used a blanket last winter, but does not work with wriggler the way it works with tiddy baby.

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 03/11/2008 22:11

See I am crap. I piss off for weeks and then pop in again.

Samuel is 10 months now and managed the lenght of lounge/diner pushing his walker thing today. He is still bf and is doing fab. Saw some charts of feeding so add mine tho it does vary at times (acording to teething etc )

6.30 - bf
7.30ish - breakfast - cereal (currently rise crispies multi grains) which he plays with, yoghurt and fruit.

9.30 - bf and nap

11.45 - lunch - wraps (often salsa or tuna), babybel, fruit (strawberry, grape), yoghurt, olives.

1.30pm - bf & nap

4.30 - bf (small one)

5.30 dinner - tonight was pasta, seeds of change sauce and sausage, with fruit, cucmber and grated cheese.

7.00 bf and bed

has bf during night if wakes.

Cant rate BLW enough - has been simply great but very messy.

Really pleased still bfing and plan to continue. Plan to ttc and need to see dr as required help before.

Not doing cc, still sleeps in our bedroom though currently in cot as very mobile. If wakes in the night will sometimes stay in with me.

He is expressing likes and dislikes clearly. Main dislike is going out in bugy or car. Main like is trying to get anything that looks interesting regardless of danger!

He has recently got over slapped cheek. Felt bad as had seen preg friend but shes having blood tests to check all clear. Especially paranoid as my b/friend was due on saturday but lost her baby at 20 weeks through slapped cheek

MamaMaiasaura · 03/11/2008 22:13

on the teeth count he has 3 bottom and 2 top (the bottom came through first). Lily - samuel really suffers with teeth too is horrid. Ds1 never seemed bothered.

Lilyloo · 03/11/2008 22:38

Don't know MM hope not as she has been so bad !

Awen good to see you have been following you round tonight i think
Have you stopped co sleeping with ds now then ? We still bf thinking may go on longer than one now Am hoping she hasn't been unwell with teeth and they were just an aditional symptom as her first two came through no probs!
