Madmouse - sorry to hear nathan not well. At least he is eating something and bfing. Hope he is better today.

LaT - Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear Sabela'a sleep not great Just what you don't need ATM. Thanks for asking about DH...he is back at work and seems to be ok but combination of work and medication makes him very tired. He went to bed at 8.30pm last night

Angechica - LOl at painting DS orange as pumpkin

Has anyone heard from Filly lately??

All good here going into town later for food shop, nothing exciting....

LaTrucha · 27/10/2008 11:25

Sorry guys - advice time.

Sabela has usually been really easy to put to sleep for naps. Since we came back she has been a total nightmare.

This is what happened this morning.

Up 6.30 - breakfast play

8.45 bf

9.00 into cot very sleepy and peaceful - started screaming her head off.

Got her up because Dh leaving for work etc
small play, bf, up to cot, very sleepy. Into cot screaming. Reassured her, got sleepy, peaceful, back into cot - screaming!

I've just left her screaming again. What the hell do I do? She can't sleep in my arms every nap (not that I've let her do this but it's what she wants to do.) It's been like this for every nap since last Thursday.

Help. My nerves are in tatters anyway (which is I guess what's upsetting her but I still don't know what to do.)

Left her to scream for 15 minutes.

Fed her to sleep, absolutely peaceful, put her into cot. Screaming.

madmouse · 27/10/2008 14:36

susie poor you and poor Sabela. She is upset and unsettled because you are, and you do not have the energy to deal with it

sounds like the only way out is one that will make you even more tired. I would pick her up when she screams but put her back as soon as she is calm but still awake and just repeat. she needs security and consistency. she will settle soon, for the moment she clearly feels that she is to stay with you at all times bless her.

simpson · 27/10/2008 15:08

LaT - just read this and thinking of you hun. Think MM's advice (as always is spot on.

DD been truly shocking today.... I have had to put her down in cot sobbing and leave her and have a cup of tea as all she had done today is scream. All this whinging getting me down TBH. Taking DD to GP tomorrow so will make sure nothing else is wrong with her.

LaTrucha · 27/10/2008 16:44

Thanks

Have you been doing PUPD MM? Is it working?

Have just fed her to sleep lying in bed as you're right I was just too tired for the whole thing again this afternoon.

She went to sleep in the pram this morning so total and utter cop out.

As soon as I'm completely over this bug we're going to stop feeding at night and are going to try PUPD for that.

I have a feeling it's a little bit developmentally inspired too. She's started crying completely differently, a real kind of growl as if she's cross at times. PErhaps she thinks we just don't know what she wants LOLOLOL As if we could miss it!

Sorry you've had a tough day Simpson. MAybe she'll wear herself out crying and sleep really well!

Yes, where is Filly?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 27/10/2008 20:28

Quick HI form me, going to try and go to bed in a minute for an early night.

Feeling more positive today, period nearly over. will have to watch out for similar depression next time and be forewarned....

Sympathies LaT

well done on sermon MM

um, right, bed...night all.

Hi ladies.
Thankyou for the Happy Birthday wishes . It was a very busy weekend. Didn't do much Friday. Took him to MacD's for lunch. Went to collect mt big boys in the afternoon from Bedford.
Saturday however well we had a birthday/halloween party and it was fabulous. Loads of kids, mess, noise and fun brilliant. He got some realy good gifts.
News on George he keeps trying to stand up independantly he kind of goes up on one knee as if proposing and putting both arms up in the air and falls forward onto the floor. I definately think he'll be walking by Christmas.
Thats about it from me.
Sorry no personals but my brain hasn't recovered from the weekend.... xxxx

madmouse · 27/10/2008 21:02

Bed here too in a minute

exhausted...

Nathan finally had some evening meal of cheesy pasta and a bit of formula milk, but then had a kind of colic episode like when he was three months old, feed-arch-scream-feed-arch-scream-scream I ended up losing my patience with him as I thought he was just about better and I worried as he was getting so hot again, but I think it was just him and me getting hot and bothered together. Settled now. Guess his poor tummy is still adjusting he has not eaten much for days. No spitting up though.

Susie I started doing PUPD when Nathan would only go into bed fast asleep then woke up as soon as his body cooled down away from my body, and repeated that a number of times over the evening. I still nightfeed as he is so small and certainly now he has been ill. I am also going to wean daytime feeds first.

It took a bit of persistence but gave me my evenings back. Until he got ill of course , planning to start again tomorrow, hoping to have the energy as I am not feeling that great. At the moment it is the early mornings (4.30) onwards that get me, when he wants to sleep on me and I am cold and miserable, so I have been taking him into the spare room so I could lie on one half of the bed wrapped in a huge duvet, and he on the other side in his grobag, so he had company but without holding, and I got to sleep some more or at least lie down.

Of course he has been a little klingon in the last few days, so we will need to re establish old habits...

Where is everyone?

Filly, Gingeme, Lucky???(She is not even on facebook!)

Lilyloo · 27/10/2008 21:10

Simpson , Lat , MM sorry you all having rough time with lo's dd has been out of sorts today too guess it's time for virus to kick in with change of weather!
LaT would def reccomend pupd!
Simpson poor dd wonder if it's teeth or something she ate again?
MM poor Nathan this seems to have really taken it out of him!
Gingeme glad you had good weekend sounds hectic!
JKS glad the period coming to an end sounds like it was a tough one. I haven't had one since dd 6 wks and going on pill thinking bf is keeping it off and am sure you will all know when it's coming
Lucky , Ange the halloween outfits sound really cute i looked in tesco for dd2 as got ds and dd1 from asda but they were £8 each and to pay that for dd2 seemed too much! Am sure she will love pumpkin and got lot's of sweetys for onslaught on Fri It's chaoctic here lot's of kids but they all dress up and they all little ones so lovely. Dp taking dd1 and ds me and Martha are staying at home giving out treats!
Bluebell glad you ok

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 06:16

Gingeme - that all sounds lovely if tiring. Must be so great to have your big boys just a drive away so they can come and share birthday time with the littler ones.

Madmouse - sounds like you'll have your hands full getting back into good habits. Hope Nathan cooperates for you. and you aren't getting ill too. If you are, don't stress, just get whatever sleep/rest you can, leave routine for when you're up to it.

Lily - (minor hijack, are those referral sites dodgy? seen a few threads on them recently, sound too good to be true)
Was a tough period, only my second since having Henry, will have to warn DH to watch out next time! Although i was quite pleased as i had a 32day cycle which is nearly 'normal' (from a Pcos sufferer in case that sounded nuts!).

Last night/this morning:

9pm - me asleep
3.45 - H up, not crying so left him
4 - H crying, fed him
4.10-5ish - H mumbling & coughing
4.38! - T up
4.58 - T up (lost comfort blanket)
5.20 - T up (lost pillow!)
5.58 - T & me up (near enough to 6)

yawn....

But, the important points are:
a) i had 6 & 3/4hrs straight sleep
b) i didn't cry/get cross/shout at ds1 despite starting my day at 3.45
(would definitely have cried last week ).

sorry for waffle, hope everyone ok & my screaming name hasn't frightened you off!

LaTrucha · 28/10/2008 10:07

Hi all

Thanks for ideas.

JKS Well done although you have my sympathy - DH and I are going to bed at 8pm today as we are both at the end of our tether with sleeping.

I couldn't settle her last night and decided to try and leave her crying - where she could see me. DH did it a couple of nights ago and she cried for about 40 minutes then slept really well.

With me she cried for an hour and a half until rocked her back to sleep and she then slept 40 minutes.

Brain is custard. Can't even think of having the energy to try an new strategy. I think I'm going to go fo PUPD but god only knows what will happen.

Sorry to hear about Nathan's relapse MM hope you got an ok night.

She settled really easily for her nap today although we've gone backwards. I rocked her and she's not in her cot but at least she's asleep.

This is torture but as DH says 'Well, we can't sell her... Let's have another one'. I think our humour is getting a bit black.

Looking on the bright side really....

LaSpooky · 28/10/2008 10:18

Name Change

Oh and JKS - if it makes you feel any better - I've been awake since 2am - apart from a 45 nap at 6.30.

ihatelazytown · 28/10/2008 11:34

Hi all

Judt got back from docs and DD has been referred to pead who we will probably see in a couple of weeks.

Am very proud of myself took both Dcs into town on bus for the first time. Normally I am too chicken and walk the 30mins with double buggy but today went on bus with DD in buggy and DS walking although I did take buggy board. DS behaved very well although threatened to have melt down when he saw a roundabout in the shopping centre but no one there to take money so he could not have a go. I promised him one tomorrow. It's my answer for everything "maybe tomorrow"

Have just told work that I am definitely not going back. Have to put it in writing and will take it in tomorrow. DD has her BCG tomorrow morning so will drop in it after that.

Got fed up of old name and totally fed up of lazy town (Ds watching it again now!!) God I rue the day I bought that DVD

(Was simpson BTW)

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 17:47

LaSpooky (loving the name ) - hope you and dh do get an early night tonight. i was good but not brilliant last night, think i could have tried harder! so going to tonight as no orchestra (half term), last night 9pm, aiming for 8.30 tonight! Really if i was organised i would go to bed at 7 with the boys!! Though i think i need wind-down time.
I like your dh's sense of humour .

ihatelazytown (we watch too much of it here too! though Peppa Pig is current fave) - don't know if i can keep typing that out, can i stick with simpson??
Well done on bus trip - wouldn't be brave enough for that myself i don't think.
Hope you don't have too long to wait for paed. appt. is dd ok at the mo?

Ange - missed your saturday post! i haven't tried 'supper' for ds2. part of me i realise is stupidly resistant to doing anything different to what i did with ds1 given that i didn't BLW with ds1 i'm already doing something different (along with hundreds of other things every day that i'm sure are different!). Just like offering water at night, i resist it and not sure why?

Well, ds2 had a couple of screaming fits with high temp yesterday so had neurofen twice. (one screaming fit at nursery for 'settling' session). then he did it again this morning so more neurofen, then again at bf group so calpol, then crashed out for over 3 hours then did it again. Was sure it was just teething but nursery said ds1 was not happy today either....they tried to take his temp but he wouldn't sit still!!
so think we may become the house of illness tomorrow. going for pre-emptive calpol for both at bedtime.

back later, ds2 getting twitchy....

madmouse · 28/10/2008 20:45

oh bah when is all of this going to end? Last night was misery with a mild temperature and refusing to settle, and waking himself up coughing. we co-slept all night so at least I could sooth him without getting up. Today he has been great and really much better. Had a fair bit of breakfast and ate a bit at lunch and dinner. We had a lovely bedtime thing with lots of cuddles and wet sloppy kisses and this whisper thing he does. Then he had a bit more milk, a coughing fit and out came the lot. Full body change for both of us, more milk and out came the lot, although he managed to keep himself dry. Now gone to sleep without milk and an empty tummy , I am so fed up and feel really restless even though there is nothing seriously wrong. I just need it to stop, he started to go off his food a week tomorrow.

I know it is probably what babies do, but i am sooo tired and it is the first time he has had anything like this...

(sorry)

xx

evening all dd really out of sorts and all our sleeping improvements last week gone out of the window she not a happy girl!

Loving all the name changes

LaT poor you you sound shattered hope you in bed fast asleep!

IHLT long name Hope the pead apt helps!

Jkswf think they sound as if they coming down with something too! Not sure about them sites but it seems anyone who advertises is never honest about the referral fees they get which makes me think dodgy! Tried to search others i had seen and it seems they have been deleted which is dodgy too imo! ?

madmouse · 28/10/2008 21:41

goodness me it is quiet on here

calmed down a bit, Nathan woke again and had a little suckle so at least has a drink inside him now. Hope it stays put. Desperate to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Just taken it out on the sink. we have some special type of granite sink (came with house) that got stained so looked up on Internet what to do, basically says it is the limescale that stains, scrub as hard as you like and preferably use abrasive stuff. Perfect...

Off to bed in a minute

wish me luck

Where is lucky? Did she say she was off? She is still not on facebook either

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 28/10/2008 21:47

MM missed your post poor Nathan it seems a nasty little virus hope it passes soon wonder why they seem worse at nightime ?
Don't think Lucky said she was going anywhere!

LuckySalemWITCHTRIALS · 28/10/2008 21:52

Hey all I'm here!!

Don't worry about me just having a tough time with DD and my toothache so not being as chatty but I am still here.

Check out FB for Aaliyah's halloween party in babyclub today. Got 2 pics on photobucket here and here

Speak soon.

MrsMcJnr · 28/10/2008 22:17

Hey ladies hope you are all ok, just checking in to say all is good here, just very hectic with lots of family around, I hope to catch up soon

Gingeme · 29/10/2008 09:29

Morning ladies.
Two quick messages George slept from 7.45 pm till 6.09 am
mooncups rule

LaSpooky · 29/10/2008 11:27

It is quiet on here. Mumsnet in general seems a bit weird ATM.

Why Gingeme - if you don't mind me asking.

MM - so sorry you're having such a rough time. When are you starting work? I hope it's not imminent.

Lucky - that is super cute!

Lily - sorry about dd - we are contemplating cc here. how have you found it?

Hi MrsMc!

JKS - how are dcs?

Sabela slept 8-3.30 and we did go to bed at the same time so feeling ok today but she refused to settle in cot afterwards.

I'd been writing a diary about mum as I have the urge to record everything I remember. Then downloaded the speech I gave at the funeral - which had the same file name - and 'replaced' it by mistake. Bum.

fillybuster · 29/10/2008 12:02

Hi all,

Back from hols (utterly brilliant) and as of yesterday back at work (totally crap)...Weds are my 'at home' day so in theory should be the time I catch up (pah!) but realistically that will be tomorrow or Friday in the office.

Haven't had time to catch up at all - whats been happening?

Hope everyone well?
