lucky if you have an old dark sleepsuit I reckon a skeleton is not that hard to paint on it.

woolworths is generally cheap and I saw loads and loads in my local tesco extra, although not sure about babies, did not check as do not do haloween for faith reasons.

Don't want to buy anything (unless its at the £ shop.. lol) got no money. May see if I can find an old pillowcase and make a ghost!! lol

Otherwise I really wish I had my facepaints as we've got a piglet onesuit that if I could just paint a face it'd be brilliant!!

JustKeepSwimming · 25/10/2008 10:08

Lucky - the £50 plan should work too, as long as you don't get tempted to draw out more by the end of the month
Although i know it drives dh crazy that i hardly ever have cash on me, i find cash just disappears without trace while i have to account to myself for anything on my bank statement!
Though credit card stuff gets confusing as it's a joint thing, so Dh deals with it/pays it off.
And he wants me to use the cc for anything i buy on the net, so ebay/tesco shopping/etc. so that doesn't get accounted for unless i go through it separately.

just up once for Henry last night, Tom up at 5.45 but dh got up with him and i didn't get up till 8, lovely.
Dh off out for most of the day sadly, work lunch thing, and all the the mums busy today, so looks like a lazy day at home.
May walk round the corner later when H wakes up from nap but that inevitably leads to shopping

Hi Ladies- it's Bluebell! Sorry I haven't posted for well over a month, I have been wrapped up with this pregnancy- but all is fine and can relax a bit now.

I have tried to catch up but struggled a bit to be honest so much has happened.

La Trucha I am so sorry to hear of your mom, it's such a sad time and a lot to handle because you almost feel robbed by the disease. I supressed how I felt for a long time after the event and I am now receiving counselling to deal with my emotions and inability to express them. If you ever need to talk you can mail me on rebeccaburnathotmaildotcom.

Madmouse- Thanks for the text last night. Sorry to hear Nathan is poorly, Ruby has had the same bug, turned the corner slghtly today but she has had it for 5 days now, although she is sleeping at night getting her to drink and eat has been difficult and to be honest I have been offering her fluids but not fussing on the solids, she is such a good eater I have put it down to the virus. I have been at the docs twice as she developed a rash all over her body but apparently its the virus coming out. There is nothing you can really do expect ride it out apparently.

The doctors did say that excessive use of Calpol can lead to Asthma, so has recommended nurofen (sp)? I have been alternating but Ruby hates nurofen because it is so sweet!

Ruby started waking at 6.30am a few weeks ago but she has since stopped so she is going 6.45pm- 7.30am at the moment, although she has been coughing a bt bless her in the night.

Still suffering with horrible morning sickness, MrsMCJnr congrats on your pregnancy, exciting but are we a bit mad?

I am now officially a SAHM- handed my notice in a couple of weeks ago as I didn't want to go back and with being pregnant again I wanted to let them know. It was a bit sad really but i suppose I am on a new chapter now.

Anyway hope everyone else is keeping well and I promiuse that I will keep up with the thread now xxx

simpson · 25/10/2008 11:06

Bluebell

Glad you are ok. How many weeks are you now? Sorry to hear Ruby not been well.

DD decided to start the day at 5.30am She also decided to learn to point at this time too. Sweet but I WANTED MY BED!!

Lucky - When DS was a baby they had a Halloween party at his nursery. Got his skeleton outfit from £ shop. It was only thin material though so I put black clothes on underneath. This yr he is refusing point blank to wear anything halloweeny so got a terracotta pumpkin from £ shop to put small candle in (saves me cutting out pumpkin!!) Going to hide some sweets around our house and he has a pumpkin bucket to put them in...

Anyone got a few mins to spare read the Halloween story thread in adult fiction. Am hooked

LaTrucha · 25/10/2008 12:12

Sorry I haven't responded. Vomiting/diahorrea bug has descended on our house. Definitely out of action for a while!

Thanks Bluebell.

madmouse · 25/10/2008 12:21

Oh no Susie, poor you, the last thing you needed!

Nathan had one more warm patch at 2.30am, but not since and seems ok just not eating at all and not drinking as much as I would like him to. Coughing a bit. Sounds like virus that Ruby has.

Am tired, slept 11-2.30, 4 to 6.30 when sir was awake and well.

dh went to bed 3.30 and I was made enough to let him sleep til 9.30

LuckySalem · 25/10/2008 12:53

Ok - She's going as piglet unless I can find something in the £ shop today (have gotta go food shopping so might as well take a walk with my new buggy up to £ shop too)

Bluebell - Lovely that all is well. How far are you? Lovely that your a SAHM, hope its not too much of a shock to the system
Sorry Rosie not well.

MM - Hows Nathan now?

JKS - I'm planning on taking my Debit card out of my purse and only put it in if we're going food shopping. That way I can't just "pop" something crappy on the card or draw a little more money for that toy that DD really needs doesn't need.

MrsMc & Blubell - Go away with your lovely pregnancies am getting REALLY broody lately but keep telling myself not yet.

LuckySalem · 25/10/2008 12:56

Well behind - sorry MM. Glad Nathan is getting a little better.

LaTrucha - Hope the V & D passes for you...

simpson · 25/10/2008 13:23

Sorry to hear that so many are ill

Am a mother of 3 today have got little boy from next door (aged 5) who is playing with DS. Is quite hard to referee arguments need all my patience today. Will definitely be having takeaway & wine tonight!!

Rubysmom08 · 25/10/2008 14:00

ahhh Simpson I would kill for a bottle of Red and a King Prawn Bhuna... !!!

Just been making Ruby a Chicken broth and managed to cut throughb my finger and right through my nail bit gross can't quite bear to look at it!!

Being a SAHM is really different I think teh last 9 months has changed me as a person. I have less energy butmore to do!

Anyway have a god weekend and Madmouse I found putting some big books underneath the legs at the top end of Ruby's cot helped massively with the conjestion x

JustKeepSwimming · 25/10/2008 15:01

hi all, well DS1 & I are recovering from a major face-off over the word Sorry
he threw his football at henry's head while i was feeding him, i grabbed his hand, and then it started...he asked me to let him go, i said i would as soon as he said sorry...
cue nearly half an hour of him screaming/sobbing/begging....i managed to stay calm and eventually he quietly said it...meanwhile H was chewing/eating the newspaper and had started crying himself...of course dh not here....

tom still doing that half sob/deep breath thing you do after crying, making me feel awful, and breathe.....

rubysmom - hi there, glad you are doing ok oh except for the finger, ouch! did that to my thumb once, took a chunk off! was sure i would have a deformed thumb forever but you'd never know now.

LaT - oh no, d&v, yuk. hope you all recover soon, try to keep your fluids up.

simpson - brave you

lucky - any luck at the £shop? a piglet is fine anyway. that's a good idea about the card. i'm terrible with getting just one more thing for the boys

madmouse - glad nathan is brighter today, he will make up for the food thing soon i'm sure.

well H napping, T watching tv, i'm trying to think of ways to pass the rest of the afternoon until dh turns up.

madmouse · 25/10/2008 17:56

JKS well done, that was tough but he has to learn

Hope peace has now been restored.

saw you on the 9months and still waking thread. still waking here too, but Nathan is still diddie and I am weaning him off day feeds (well suspended atm in favour of getting fluids and calories in until better - then presumably start from scratch .

He ha just eaten a little bit and murdered a bread stick (genius idea from friend, single handed finger food) although without eating much of it.

fever has not returned. I am feeling rough though, just need sleep.

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 25/10/2008 18:16

Went shopping and found a black cat suit for £5 I know its not gonna be used again (this time) but I thought that was a bargain and if she didn't use it for Halloween she can always wear it in the house!!

Housemum · 25/10/2008 18:41

JKS, Madmouse - still waking here too. She was up at 3 last night, turned into mammoth feeding session, didn't go back to sleep, another one of those and she gets the formula...

simpson · 25/10/2008 19:02

Phew

Boy from next door been sent home and both Dcs are in bed. Am totally knackered. If anyone has a cure for whinging and wanting to be picked up all the time I would love it hear it Gave her calpol before bed as she was so bad thought something might be hurting ear, throat, teeth Not convinced though....

DS had melt down in bath as he was soooo tired after playing with 5yr old all day. Those of you with 3 DCs (or more!!) I take my hat off to you!!

Have ordered takeaway to be delivered, wine ready to drink and "strictly come dancing" followed by X-factor.

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 25/10/2008 19:15

Ok, have changed to Halloween name, hope i don't frighten you off

madmouse - dh said the same thing, and later on ds1 walked up to ds2 and whacked him in the head, no reason, i held his hand and asked him to say sorry and he said sorry henry really quickly! so maybe it worked....for now...
yes illness does set you back a good few weeks.
hope you get a better night tonight.

Lucky - good shopping! will have to have a pic with the cats

Housemum - it's draining isn't it? keep hoping that one day he'll just 'get it' and sleep...

Simpson - not surprised you're knackered!
thinking of talking Dh into some reality tv tonight, tho he hates it!

ds2 refused any milk at bedtime, so who knows what will happen tonight, ds1 up and moaning so best try and get him settled.

LuckySalem · 25/10/2008 19:17

Thats the plan JKS(wf) We have Lucky and Salem black cats - now one kitten that's black and aaliyah that'll be a temp black cat!!

simpson · 25/10/2008 20:25

Awww Lucky you must get a pic of all the "cats" together

JKS - loving the new name

AngeChica · 25/10/2008 21:11

all reet?

Hi Bluebell, glad you're OK.

JKS I only have the one DS and I find bouts of sleep deprivation hard to handle, never mind prolonged. Any chance of a break I would see as a well deserved rest and no way a sign of "not coping", even one night could set me right for a few weeks. Does your DS2 like ready brek or weetabix - have you tried giving them s bit for supper? I try all sorts of things to solve DS's sleep and they tend to work intermittently!

DS been going to bed around 7pm for a long time now but tonight we cunningly got him to stay up til 8, will that beat the clock confusion I wonder, or will he wake at 5am instead of 6 ?

I second calprofen for pain and fever, works much better than calpol alone.

Had a crap week at work but did nice things with DS on Thurs and Fri. DH cooked tea tonight and we're catching up on all the recorded stuff from our BT box (works like Sky plus). Had girls night in last night and we watched sex and the City - disappointing.

I got a pumpkin outfit from the pound shop for DS's toddler group party next week, although DH and I agree, we could just paint him orange and he would look like a little fat pumpkin anyway .

simpson · 26/10/2008 11:27

Hi all

I hope everyone is ok and the clocks changing hasn't disrupted sleep too much. Having said that DD wanted to start the day at 5am and made such a racket that DS woke up too....

Off to my mum's for Sunday dinner today DH has a day off but is staying behind to watch football. Was planning to stay at my mum's for a few days but think the tooing and froing is upsetting DS so looks like I am home properly now

madmouse · 26/10/2008 14:41

Ange thanks for the reminder, we are notoriously bad for clock changes and this was our first one as a clergy family, but it all went well

Nathan still refused to eat yesterday, then threw up his evening milk feed because he had a coughing fit , i was getting quite despondend at that point and also very tired. Luckily he fed again straight away which stayed in, then fed again greedily at 11, had a long slow feed at 2.30 which left me with little more than a skin flap , and again at 4.30, then woke at 5.45 at wich point I took him into bed int he spare room and we snoozed till 8. So feeling better today, and so is Nathan. He has eaten about half his normal (large!) serving of porridge, although he has just refused lunch, but that may be because he had just been bfeeding like he had a neon sign over his head saying insert milk here . He is fine really, and at least I am not fretting over dehydration anymore.

Now hoping for sleep tonight.

How's everyone else?

Spare a thought for me preaching my first sermon ever in little over an hour [eeeeeek]

OP posts:
madmouse · 26/10/2008 19:38

grrr Nathan got too tired and only ate most of a fromage frais for tea. then did the nastiest nappie ever. i hope it is the result of all that rumbling of the last few days and not diarrhea. am fed up, want sleep.

He is happy enough in himself though. But coughing is nasty, he is so little!

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 26/10/2008 19:57

Hope you get a good night's sleep MM. How did the sermon go?

Simpson - sorry I haven't caught up but how is situation with DH?

We are at the end of our tether with broken sleep. She used to be so easy to put to sleep that we could cope but now she's started refusing to go to sleep. As soon as I'm better, we're going to stop night feeds to see if that helps. Sympathy to Ange and all the rest who are still not geting the sleep they need!

Am reading but not responding very much. Sorry!

Waves sleepily to all

madmouse · 26/10/2008 20:00

good to know you are around susie. I text Bluebell, hope you don't mind.

Sermon went ok for a first time, dh thinks there will be more . Lost the line of my talk a bit halfway through, which never happens when I speak at conferences etc...

thinking about you lots. guess you are exhausted anyway then dealing bad sleep becauses vv difficult. Do whatever you need to do to get through.
