Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gingeme · 29/10/2008 12:47

Ofcourse not la spooky.
Less mess, less smell, no gunky feeling. Easy to keep clean and you totaly don't know its there, no gunky towel or flannel every time you wash or bathe. Tried it for first time last night just before bed and realy did forgot it was there this morning. Oh and no knickers on in bed too. Save loads of money on sanitary products too. Wish I had discovered it years agos

simpson · 29/10/2008 14:15

Hi all

Have gone back to previous name as the new one just wasn't "me"

Got back from town and DD had her BCG. The nurse doing the injection said DD has excema on her arm but I can't see anything

Handed my notice in at work took DS into office and he was centre of attention etc had a great time.

Lucky - what a cutie

Madmouse - hope nathan gets better soon. I remember when DS was about 10mths he was sick for 10 days and it really got me down as we lived in a tiny flat and it stank of vomit. There is only so much cleaning of Lo, clothes, carpet etc you can take...so you definately have my sympathies.

Filly - Forgot you were away. Hope you had a good time. Boo hiss about work though...

Gingeme - Great news re George's sleeping but have to confess might give mooncup a miss don't think its for me.

LaT - I agree MN is a bit odd ATM. Bummer about speech but a great idea to record everything you remember. Can pass it on to Sabela.

Lilyloo - Hope you got a better nights sleep last night and DD not coming down with something.

JKS - Have to wait about 2 wks for paed appt DD does not seem too bad today long may it last!!

Mrs MCjnr - Good to hear from you and glad that pg going well. How did your parents take the news or have you posted that already?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 29/10/2008 18:11

Will try and catch up properly later.

my 2 things:

  • ds1 sat on the step in the loo and chatted to me while i had a wee, aww cute
  • ds2 is not well, had a 3.5hr sleep earlier, up for and hour and a half, back to bed at 4ish, still asleep, has missed all 3 meals today. not sure what is going to happen later.....
JustKeepScreamingInFear · 29/10/2008 20:11

any ideas?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 29/10/2008 20:14

Filly - welcome back

Gingeme - am determined to try my mooncup next af, chickened out twice now just unsure how to start...

madmouse - hope you have a better day

hey to simpson, LaS, lily, lucky, mrsmc (yes what did your parents say?), and anyone i've missed/who's lurking

not going to get to bed early i don't think!

simpson · 29/10/2008 20:20

Jks - I would attempt to put him to bed at 9ish. Could you bath him beforehand? This usually tires DD out.

Would definately offer him something to eat.

You never know he may sleep later in the morning

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 29/10/2008 20:28

don't want to let hope for a later morning creep in.....

he's eating a rice cake now and making faces at the cat whilst watching the news with me

will wait....

Lilyloo · 29/10/2008 20:34

Hey all sorry for quietness am revising like mad in desperation that i can do this one week tom

JKS will check that out now!

Gingeme am seriously tempted by mooncups when i stop bf and af returns as normal!

Simpson much prefer it and easier to type

Mrs Mc sounds hectic!

Filly that's the prob with hols you have to come back

Laspooky much less traumatic than i expected but dd isn't very well so have resorted back to middle of night feed. Will do cc again though as we were maing a break through. Night 1 is awful but it does get better we were going 7 hours 4 days in!!!

Lucky will check out pic what did she go as ?

MM hope Nathan feeling better ?

madmouse · 29/10/2008 21:21

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah (don't worry, that's a sigh of relief

We have had three meals today, maybe not quite as much as normal but getting there , need to as I can tell he has lost weight .

Fell asleep at 7.20, woke half an hour later but fell asleep the minute I picked him up, woke half an hour later and had another slosh of milk, must be catching up!! Hopefully he will make a stretch now but I don't care, my little man is finally better .

I did care last night when I decided that despite the throwing up he was now well enough for his own bed. After the two feeds he chucked up he had another four (!!) by midnight, at which point he decided no cot for me thanks. Dh and I spent until 2am trying to settle him. We did win in the end, although I was in tears by then. 5am next feed. six am awake, but to be fair I think he was very cold, was in his emergency grobag (the other two wet from wash) so i caved in and took him into the spare bed.

He really likes his sleep and has always slept in his own bed so I am sure he will adjust again soon.

JKS how is ds2 doing? My advice is sit in the dark with him and hold him, bore him to sleep, that is what I do with Nathan and it sometimes works.

Lily can I help? have a very dusty a-level in applied mathematics somewhere

Glad you are simpson again simpson, IHLT does not roll of the tongue really. How is dh, is he working now?

Lucky, lovely pics, seeing on facebook you in lots of pain, what is up with tooth?

MrsMc Gingeme glad you are ok. Ginge was very when I read about your lo sleeping.

sorry if i missed anyone

simpson · 29/10/2008 21:28

Madmouse - so glad Nathan seems to be over the worst He will probably feed like a demon for the next couple of days!!

DH doing well is back at work (and I am back at home yay!!) but combination of work and medication makes him tired but he is doing well

Gingeme · 29/10/2008 22:26

Its a one off re Georges sleep I'm sure of it.
Went to watch ds3 having his swimming lesson today. Oh he just loves it and is doing realy well
I can't recomend a mooncup more highly. Ok tmi warning. Since having George my periods seem to have returned realy heavy. I have just gone through packet after packet of towels and use a tampon, which I hate cause they hurt, when I have a bath because I would always make the towel messy and I just got fed up with feeling wet and squidgy all the time. But I tell you what freedom you feel with the mooncup. No squidge no mess and once its in you realy don't feel it. Apart from the ache, but that is just me, you realy don't know its in. Sorry to go on but I realy do wish I had discovered it a long time ago
Well thats enought waffle from me. Off to bed. Fingers crossed for a good night for you all. xx

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 30/10/2008 06:43

Gingeme - i have found the 2 afs i've had have been really heavy (for me) and was going to use up my supplies then force myself to use the mooncup. but went and got more!
anyway, will def try next time.

madmouse - so glad nathan is getting better
both my boys have been 'off' the last week or so now, weighed ds1 (just playing on the bathroom scales really) last night and he has lost some weight too
daren't try and weigh ds2, will prob freak myself out...though haven't had him weighed in months so wouldn't know if he'd lost a bit i guess.

lily - keep going with the maths, you can do it, just stay calm!

simpson - glad dh is doing well, hope you are managing, prob got all the childcare if he's so tired? and looking after him too? has DS started pre-school yet, or is it next week? ds1 starts one morning a week from next week, sort of looking forward to it but also feel like it's the first step on the school treadmill and there's no getting off it, iykwim?!

well, ds2 went to sleep at 9;
3 - feed and back to sleep (seemed normal)
4 - ds1 up, lost his pillow (need to superglue it to the bed)
4.45 - ds2 up, hot, screaming, etc. gave some calpol and he went back to sleep. was sure ds1 would get up then but luckily no.
6 - ds1 up. yey! think i will give him a smiley face on his chart for that sleep.

now watching lazytown/peppa pig combo before breakfast while ds2 still sleeps.
need tea...

simpson · 30/10/2008 09:00

Morning all

Had a pants night with DD she was up at midnight and up and 2.30. No reason for it and as soon as I lifted her out of cot she was grinning away...little madam

JKS - DS starts pre school next thursday and is going every afternoon. He is really looking forward to it and every morning asks if he is going to school today!!

Meeting friend for lunch with her Dcs which will be nice. DH is working today and won't be back till 11pm ish so treated myself and got a nice meal from M & S and will have a glass of wine

Lilyloo - Hope revision is going well.

LaSpooky · 30/10/2008 09:52

Hi all

Ugh.

Totally have no patience with the baby's sleeping ATM. I'm very ashamed to say I swore at her this morning and got up and gave her breakfast at 6.20am. I think I'm so preoccupied I've got no time for shenanegins. She was a bit surprised but we made friends very quickly and now she's sleeping very, very deeply! (Famous last words, eh?)

I think we're going to try CC for 5 days starting on Friday. I can't take this anymore.

JKS and MM - you are both heroes

Simpson - aww bless.

Lilyloo - so you've had to do it for quite a few nights then? I'm kind of hoping for a short sharp blast of it. Or at least, after 5 days I thikn we should have a good idea if it's going to make things better. She can do 7 hours now, but it still means a 3 am start as she never really settles after that.

LAst day of contraceptive pill today!Lawks! What am I letting myself in for? Wicked

Gingeme · 30/10/2008 10:49

Oh dear Laspooky doesn't sound good. Oh don't worry about the swearing at baby they won't remember it, I have been there many a time at 4am when you just seem to have tried everything to get them back to sleep.
JKS all in good time love but I can assure you you will be glad when you do switch
Simpson grinning baby early am, not good.
Well George didn't do too bad last night slept till 5am but he had a totaly bunged up nose so put some Olbas oil n his sleeping bag and gave him a bottle and he dropped back off till about 7am.
Off out shopping later to spend Edwards birthday money

madmouse · 30/10/2008 11:13

oh what a night

woke at 9.30, 10.45, 12.45, 2am, 3am, 4am, constantly wanting to feed. LaTrucha you are not the only one saying things to baby you should not

but it was soooo cold. dh put heating on at 2am (have since discovered our heating was on a timer switching off at 6pm, no wonder house is cold, switched to 11pm now)and when I felt Nathan's legs in his grobag at 4.30 they were cold! Poor fella, probably saw a comfort suck as the best way to get warm blame him! So put a fleece blanket over the grobag and no more peeps til 7.30

but still feeling buoyant as he is well again. he is now having a loooong nap though

OP posts:
Gingeme · 30/10/2008 11:15

Well done madmouse for still having the brain power to actualy type making sense this morning
Ive uploaded some pics of Edwards party if anyones interested! xx

LaSpooky · 30/10/2008 11:16

Does anyone else not understand why, when we are snugged under our 13 tog duvets our los are only allowed 2.5?

madmouse · 30/10/2008 11:36

I am wondering too Susie, I think we are being over cautious because of cot death (overheating is a factor), also 2.5 togs near the skin is warmer than a duvet, as there is less air around them.

Nathan was fine last year, but then it was almost march when he came home from hospital and he slept on the landing in front of the airing cupboard, snuggest place in the house!

OP posts:
simpson · 30/10/2008 11:49

Susie - I think it is because of over heating too. I have noticed that if DD rolls onto her tummy while asleep or trying to settle herself she cannot roll back as easily as if she wasn't wearing sleeping bag iyswim and can get herself in a bit of a state.

Madmouse - poor you!! You must be knackered. Glad Nathan over the worst though. Is he eating any solids?

Gingeme - Had a quick peek at your pics while trying to make packed lunch for DS. Look sooo cute...will have a better look when back later!!

Lilyloo · 30/10/2008 12:54

Revision not happening
DD really not well , won't eat and has been sleeping on and off since this morning. Her little eyes are all puffy and her nose is streaming.
Up nearly all night with a raging temperature calpol didn't really shift it so dp out first thing this am to get ibuprofen and that seems to have worked!
LaT we def noticed a difference after 3 nights just seemed to be getting there then she get's poorly so back to square one!

madmouse · 30/10/2008 13:27

simpson is he heck

bit like feeding a little bird, mouth wiiiide open
