simpson · 22/10/2008 22:21

lilyloo - How long will you wait before going to bed?

JKS - Think I am going to bury head in sand re DD's food till tuesday when she sees doc Will just give her fruit, veg, pasta, chicken etc v basic...

Lilyloo · 22/10/2008 22:24

LOL Simpson will go at 10.30 then lay awake until she wakes in the feeling i went to bed at 10.30! Don't know what will happen if she misses this feed feel like first time mum again!

simpson · 22/10/2008 22:27

lilyloo - what if she goes till 1 or 2am But you know sods law it will be JUST when you have dropped off to sleep Have you been getting the lego bits free from the Daily Mirror? They are great stocking fillers for Xmas...

Lilyloo · 22/10/2008 22:30

Simpson just having that convo with dp she has never ever gone this long since bedtime!
Yeah my dad saving me vouchers so going to be £6.50 have you got them ? worth it ?

simpson · 22/10/2008 22:37

Have got the last 3 days worth. Todays was good was a motorbike, yesterdays was a motorboat but the day before is some kind of animal (not sure what). Could tell DS its a wolf!! They are really good but think Ds still a bit young though as I had forgotten how small lego pieces are. So collecting them all for stocking for next Xmas But well worth getting!!

Glad Martha sleep is better. Definitely something to be said for doing CC if it feels right. Had to do it for DS after he was ill at about 11mths. He had obviously got better healthwise but had got used to being nursed/rocked etc....

Lilyloo · 22/10/2008 22:41

Will get them then lol at telling ds it's a wolf ds not reallly into lego (it's not football) but stocking fillers all the same!
Am off to bed now in shock she still bnot woke she has been my bedtime alram for as long as i can remember! CC is against everything i think but hey it's working up to now!

simpson · 22/10/2008 22:43

I know what you mean about CC I agonised about doing it with Ds but he had been sleeping fine before he was ill...

Fingers X for tonight

JustKeepSwimming · 23/10/2008 08:58

Lily - how did it go? Just the one feed again here. though he woke at 2.30, i sat down to feed him and he wasn't interested put him back in bed, he had a little cry at 3, i allowed the thought of maybe not needing to feed him creep into my head, 3.30 full on shouting and a feed!
ah well, ds1 back to 6.30 so feel a tad more human today. and dh has promised to come home early - he did have the cheek to moan about HAVING to go out for dinner last night
actually i said i didn't want to go out for dinner, i was too tired but still....

meant to collect the lego things for next year but haven't remembered to buy any of the papers. ah well, will look out next year maybe, ds1 still too young anyway.

oh and i wasn't into CC either until ds1 was ill, similar to simpson.

Thanks for the well dones in the weight loss, just have to see if a) i can keep it off & b) get on with losing the rest!

meant to be going to playgroup at 9.30, ds1 not dressed, ds2 napping and prob won't wake up till 10.30. think we will still go for the last half hour or so just for ds1 though.

should try and get some laundry on or something else useful!

madmouse · 23/10/2008 10:57

yaaaaaaawn

Nathan poorly last night - been up pretty much all night and have only slept with him between us, so not great. He still has a bit of a temperature but seems fine and has eaten breakfast nd is playful. He was screaming in pain during the night, it seemed like tummy ache as when he bf he seemed to have cramps and I heard gurgling. Thank God for calprofen. Woke up at 9.40 so could be worse I guess, but by 4.30 i had only had 2 times 45 mins sleep

jks and lily, hope the better nights continue, you deserve them!

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 12:55

I'm feeling sick to my stomach today......

Dp is still complaining about money and as I have no idea how much is expected to be paid out compared to our incoming i'm having to accept that we are skint and I need to go back to work (I hate not being able to see how far off we are)

So have just been looking at nurseries and jobs and I can't stop crying at the thought of having to leave her. I always wanted to raise my kids myself!! I don't want anyone else to have an influence on her.

I've tried calmly looking into CTC and work as well as childcare and working around DP but I can't do it my emotions are getting the better of me. I just feel sick and as though i'm letting her down and no matter how much I tell myself it will better for her in the long run if we can afford nice things. I'd rather live in a 1-bed flat than leave her in either childcare or my parents influence (nothing against my parents AT ALL but I want to be her influence IYKWIM) I just don't know what to do.....

All this and the fact that I really want another child soon is just ...... I dont know what the words are..

simpson · 23/10/2008 14:18

Lucky ((hugs)) Sorry you feel this way.

Is there any way you can work from home? Do some child minding etc. Or dog walking??

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 14:24

I dont know - i'm looking at the moment.

LaTrucha · 23/10/2008 16:41

Lucky - I really feel for you. I'd hate it if I had to leave dd when I didn't want to. /do you have a clear idea of how much extra money you need?

BTW I'm a budget fiend and find it helps me stay calm. Have you got one written out?

Lilyloo sorry
I missed the back story on the CC. Can you fill me in?

simpson · 23/10/2008 16:56

Lucky - its not easy finding work for speciic hours ie around Dp. But you might be able to pick other Dcs up from school and keep them till parents get there to pick them up or take Dcs to school. I know when I go back to work next yr I will have to find someone to have DS for 2hrs a day for 3 days a week.

Lilyloo - well "wolf" is now going to playgroup tomorrow Ds has told one of the workers all about it and they want to borrow it for when they read 3 little piggies tomorrow!!

DD going into screaming mode (again) best dash....

madmouse · 23/10/2008 20:15

Lucky why the sudden panic? what has dp said? And do I understand that you do not know what goes in and what goes out? If only dp knows that is the first thing to change!

Is your house suitable for childminding? You need an ofsted check. Maybe calm down and take a it of time looking for something suitable.

Two of my friends swap childcare, ie they work different days and on the days the do not work they look after the other woman's child. Is that something you can do so you can maybe work two days a week?

Nathan still not well is right off his grub (although okeish bf) and has been reasonable chirpy all day but still has a temp and threw up tonight just after I had given calpol (got a bit too upset in the bath I think) although happier after a bf. Now asleep, but i think I will make sparebed so i can co-sleep there with nathan if he is up again so dh can sleep. No point in both being knackered is there.

simpson · 23/10/2008 20:52

Ds's last day at playgroup tomorrow Have to writ a thank you card to the staff and take in some sweeties for the kids. Mustn't forget wolf of course!!

Lucky - have you managed to talk to Dp or sort anything out?

Madmouse - Sorry Nathan not well DD teething terribly. Its her third bout of teething and still no teeth She has gone to bed calpoled up!!!

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 21:04

Hey all,

We reckon we need another £100 per month or there abouts, till he gets his printout from the bank (tomorrow) we'll not know for definate. If this is all that's needed I don't need to go back to work as we can cut down on stuff (takeaways mostly) to make this work. If it turns into £2-300 which is what DP thinks it'll be then of course I will have to go to work... The thing thats bugging me though is if I go to work I can earn £412 a month but I'm already getting £233 from CTC so it doesn't make sense to me - by the time i've paid childcare for one day (a sunday which I dont think you can get either) im down to £370 so where is the difference?

Gonna talk to DP properly tomorrow although today I got the jist that he wanted me to work around him and not put DD in child care so looks like we're gonna just tighten our belts instead.

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 21:06

Forgot to say MM and Simps hope your LOs are feeling better soon.

Lilyloo · 23/10/2008 21:13

MM poor Nathan hope it passes real soon! Bet you exhausted!

Simpson yeah ds will be very proud of his little wolf am sure (even though it's the baddie ) I think last days at playgroup / nursery etc are worse for us than them! Can i help with ds next year

JKS am angry for you at dh moaning about going out It's just hard being the one at hoemdoing it all 24/7 and i had no idea how much until had to manage with dp away! Glad he going to come home early for you , what treats you got planned ? Wine , chocs , bath , massage ?

Gingeme parties are very expensive no matter how you lok at it but hopefully ds will enjoy it!

LaT basically dp been away for 3 weeks , i was doing 2 hourly feeds with dd. DP came home last weekend and i was exhausted beyond comprehension cue breakdown so at 12 pm Mon night i decided to stop feeding dd between 10 and 5! DP was in as hadn't discussed it with him! Basically Mon was horrific up from 12-4 but Tue up from 2-3 and then last night

I waited for her to wake at bedtime and she didn't and slept until 2 when she resettled with her dummy and slept till 5.30

I cannot believe it has taken such a short time!!!!

Lucky poor you. We the same trying to find something to fit in. Does your dp still do nights ? CM is a good idea my only reservation is we have a dog and worry it would put people off! I think the thought of going to work is worse than the actual act. I felt awful about going back to work with both dc and when it came to it it was fine. Actually feel really about dd leaving her nursery when i don't go back! She has been there from 6mth old and has loads of friends.
Sometimes needs must and it can be good for lo's to get social interaction with others to build their independance!

simpson · 23/10/2008 21:18

Lucky - there are loads of ways to tighten your belt financially to save money. Have been looking into it myself!!!Have also had to cut out the takeaways but am treating myself to one on sat as DH working late and will watch X factor

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 21:21

See that's the problem we don't treat ourselves. We have them cos we didn't fill the dishwasher in time/fryer is dirty/can't be arsed/didn't go food shopping. Stupid reasons.

One of the things we're going to possibly tighten our belt on (although that's probably £150 a month there...lol) is getting rid of my bank account as that charges me £15 a month.
Also Sky, telephone calls, petrol (buses are ACTUALLY cheaper) food shopping.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a cheap stroller for getting the bus to my mums?

simpson · 23/10/2008 21:27

We load up the freezer and it does us for AGES. Frozen broccoli, cauliflower, sweetcorn, peas all cheaper than buying tinned. Also buy frozen salmon steaks, chicken breasts (or big fresh packet then freeze) Got fed up of buying broccoli fresh and only using half before it went off.

For buggy babies R us have reasonable priced ones. Depends how much you want to spend. Or freecycle/e bay? You might want to wait till Jan sales if you can wait that long.

We have just bought a mothercare swoop which was £60 (raincover another £20) does not umbrella fold but easy for bus with big shopping basket.

LuckySalem · 23/10/2008 21:34

I'm wondering whether its worth us getting a chest freezer instead of the 2 we've got as they're not very big. Keep everyday things like chips etc in the little ones in the house and put the chest one in the shed (if I can get elec in there)

Will post on freecycle asking for a buggy and chest freezer - thanks Simpson forgot about that.

I need a buggy that completely folds so I can get me and DD on and off easily.
