Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
madmouse · 10/10/2008 22:29

Housemum i am still bf, so are Latrucha and Lilyloo and I think JKS not sure who else

don't go for a weekend not feeding/expressing as you risk mastitis and blocked ducts and will be jolly uncomfortable.

I do not want to bf anything that can walk up to me, lift up my top and help itself, or indeed as in a recent episode of supernanny go 'I want mimi'. Nothing wrong with it, just not me.

I have started weaning off ( at least from daytime feeds to begin with) as I am returning to work 2.5 days a week from December. Not feeding between after lunch and dinner. offering diluted juice and formula in a cup and a yogurt snack at 4pm. Lunchtime feed next...On top of that I am stopping Nathan from using me as a sleep-dummy and have introduced going into cot awake, so the overal experience becomes more one of feeding rahter than comfort. Maybe i am a bit weird like that but I am ready to stop, get more intimacy out of our giggle bouts than bf. Nathan is however a real comfort eater .

How did you get to putting Nathan down awake? Amelie used to go down awake, but now falls asleep on me - I have tried the pick-up-put-down baby whispering, but problem is she shares a room with DD2 so if she really wails I'll end up with her awake too.

Amelie can quite easily go without milk in the daytime, just water with lunch, and will fall asleep as and when she wants in buggy, but if we are at home she wants milk. I guess I just need to be insistent - problem is I'm lazy

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 09:10

still bf here - too often for my liking, esp at night

am weirdly looking forward to stopping, plan to feed till he's 1. the end of Jan is the light at the end of the tunnel at the mo. though it will probably make nights harder if i can't/don't want to feed him back to sleep

love the pics housemum

tired here, yawn...had lie-in thanks to dh and plan another one tomorrow plus some early nights. if ds2 doesn't get over this 'growth spurt' (dunno what else to call it!) soon will have to take more drastic action...

Gingeme · 11/10/2008 09:16

Housemum how beautiful is your daughter? Fantastic photos.
Welcome back MrsMcJnr Its a bit of a squeeze with the car seats in the back but theyre all in properly and safely. Thats why we bought the Citreon Zarra because it had three proper seat belts in the back and not just a lap belt in the middle.
Sorry just a quick post today as were off to Willows Farm soon and Ive got to have a shower and get bits ready. Dh has got the hump because he had a go at ds3 for no apparant reason apart from he couldn't choose his cereal quick enough. So I intervened and now hes sulking. Twat!!
Right must go or he'll have the hump about that too.
Have a good day all whatever your doing xxx

Lilyloo · 11/10/2008 12:05

Housemum how cute is she standing now ?
I am going to keep going to 1 at the minute and not really sure after that but was going to do 6 mth and kept going so who knows.

MrsMc glad you got things sorted.

Gingeme they sulk worse than the kids don't they!

MM well done on the weaning off bf how do you feel about stopping ? Will you continue a feed at bedtime or will you stop all when you go back ?

JKS LOL is that what we are calling it , had lie in here today too up at 9.30 thank goodness dp home. The nights seem to go on forever here too!

We going to a play area this aft and hopefull shopping to get ds some trousers he seems to have grown out of all of his. Have nice day all

betterhalf · 11/10/2008 12:34

Very cute pictures Housemum. What a beautiful little girl you have there.

simpson · 11/10/2008 18:38

Housemum - what cute pics

Have just got back from Oxford where a meal for 3 cost £125 Was nice though!! Also great to have a day with no Dcs but did worry about DD as DH doesn't know DD's routine so had to write it out for him, but she was fine...

Took DD to baby clinic yesterday for 8mth check. She now weighs 17lbs 8ozs!!But has to be reviewed at 1yr old as not really sitting up etc. Not worried about that though. HV is concerned that DD poos so much (done 7 today) and screams in pain every time even though bum not sore and poo "normal" sorry if TMI. She murmured about DD maybe being allergic to milk which has actually crossed my mind in the last couple of days and might explain all the whinging etc...

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 20:49

mrsmc - sorry missed your post earlier, welcome back glad dh is back on track, hope you get some plans in place over the holiday weekend.
i'm a great one for writing out lists/timetables for everything!

gingeme - i would agree with you re dh, but i'm the same, ds1 is driving me crazy at the mo as he ignores me most of the time! sure it's normal and it's good that he concentrates on what he's doing but....aarrrggghhhh! so if i had asked him several times which cereal he wanted with no response i may well end up shouting too

simpson - well ds2 kind of 'failed' the rolling/moving himself around on the floor bit of the check but he's doing it now. at least you know from ds that these things generally happen eventually! a milk intolerance? well if she is and you can change formula at least it may help her out? what is the next step?

popped out to collect a peppa pig remote controlled car off ebay earlier, had to have a go myself! if i put new batteries in now and wrap it will that be ok? never sure what the rules are about batteries....

ds2 been up screaming already tonight, didn't feed, but did give him some calpol and a cuddle, fingers crossed x
think he must be starting teething again (the molars as he has the front 8) though he isn't dribbling/red-cheeked but has started being extremely grumpy all of a sudden and is sleeping lots during the day. or maybe coming down with something

re bf - i always said i didn't want to feed a child who was coming up to me and asking for it! ds1 i stopped just after his 1st birthday, and plan the same for ds2. but....if i was on my last baby i might feel different...
did i say before that if i feed to jan, then it will be 42 months in a row of being pg/or bf?? i have to keep working it out as i can't believe how long it's been!
and planning to do it all again for dc3 or 4....mad.

Lilyloo · 11/10/2008 20:58

Simpson aah at least that may explain her constipation troubles as i would also think 7 poos in a day a lot!

JKS lol at 42 mths of pg/bf i have put new batteries in dd baby annabel and put it away for xmas!

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 20:59

will get some new batteries tomorrow then

Gingeme · 11/10/2008 21:06

Evening ladies.
We had a brilliant day at the farm. ds3 had a bit of a bad tummy but luckily there are alot of toilets he still had a great day.
We havn't had an 8 month chaec and George was 9 months old yesterday. I will make a big effort to get him weighed on Monday and see what the health visitor says about it.
Weve had a couple of bad nights here too. George wakes about 3.30 for his bottle which he drinks no probs but then takes about an hour to settle again He didn't settle too well to bed tonight either. Wonder what thats all about

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 21:08

he's been chatting online on BabyNet to Henry!!!

"let's all play up together and keep these mummies on their toes!"

Gingeme · 11/10/2008 21:09

Ah is that what it is? Think I'll put a limit on his pc time then

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 21:10

right i'm off to bed in a mo but i wanted to ask:
has anyone got any experience of mole-removal/testing on here?
dh has been told to get a dodgy looking mole on his back removed asap, so he's cancelled work on wednesday and is getting it done at the gp. we are both saying we're not worried but i guess we are really
no point stressing i know and they will tell us as soon as they find out either way but still...

JustKeepSwimming · 11/10/2008 21:10

yes get that keystroke spy thing i saw on another thread, find out what they talk about!!

simpson · 11/10/2008 21:24

Hi all

Think DD may have been in the babynet chat last night as she was awake for an hour from 3am!!!

JKS - Have to wait a couple of weeks and see if this screaming while pooing calms down. HV also mentioned she might not like sensation of going iyswim. But i agree 7 is a lot, it is normally 4/5 a day though.

If then no change cut dairy out of diet totally for a week buy soya milk etc. If this helps then I can get her milk on prescription..

Also my brother had a mole removed a couple of yrs ago. It wasn't dodgy then but was quite big and doc thought it would be a risk as was in place where it would get sun. He still has a slight scar now but was not painful.

Lilyloo - the wolf arrived today So far it has gone to the park, shops, bath & now bed with DS

Gingeme - sorry to hear Ds3 not well at farm. Hope he is better tomorrow.

Lilyloo · 11/10/2008 21:34

Simpson wow busy wolf

JKS my RL best f had a mole removed and my uncle think they tend to act at first sign of change which is a good thing! Little scarring for both but understand your anxiety hope all goes ok!

Gingeme glad you had good day dd up for about 3rd time by then! Why do they think 3 am is a good time for a chat

Housemum · 11/10/2008 22:28

Thank you for the nice comments - she's standing holding onto things - spends a lot of time pulling herself up on and hitting her Fisher Price piano (best 3 quid I've spent, bought it at the NCT sale) - she's just starting to "cruise" as well, as in she now will move from one thing to another if they are close rather than getting down then up again.

Have you all had 8 mth checks? Not heard a dicky bird from our HV - maybe they don't bother for number 3? Mind you, I'd only want it to be one of our HVs after hearing what the other said to a friend at baby clinic last month - her DD is same age as ours, and weighed something like 20lbs, she said she wanted to ask about eating and the HV butted in with "because she is a bit fat" - friend was actually going to say that she was concerned DD was vomiting so much!! I can't believe she called a baby fat - DD2 was the same size at that age, certainly not fat by any means! Friend has now had an apology.

Anyone been watching 50 years of Blue Peter? Oh, the memories of sticky back plastic and collecting milk bottle tops...

madmouse · 11/10/2008 22:46

Housemum re going in cot awake I think you have said it there, Nathan is my pfb so he can scream all he likes no siblings to wake. And he did get rather worked up the first few nights.

He has had very little nap today so he was very tired tonight and refused to wake up when I put him in his grobag and grumpily opened half one eye when I gently squeezed his cheek. As a consequence he has already woken twice as he falls asleep again the moment I pick him up thenw akes again when he discovers I am not there. He is very snotty though, he was just over a cold. Maybe more teeth? Or another cold? .

I am introducing some snacks now like fromaige frais as he is only sipping formula from a cup so not getting much in the afternoon. Also have started offering some juice to help him go. He now poos twice a day, but often small compacted things. Does not seem constipated though, as he is not bothered by them. As i noticed this morning when I gave him some naked tummy time as I saw the first signs of nappy rash ever. I walked back into the room and caught him in the middle of one. gross

Tuesday it will be two weeks after dropping the first feed and i will start offering formula with lunch.

Lily i am for the moment only weaning off daytime feeds. Makes me feel happier as I estimate that he gets about 10/11 oz out of the 16 oz he needs from me evening night and morning together so i know he is getting enough, with at least one more oz on his cereals and two helpings of dairy and some formula.

They do a nine month check here, so waiting for that. Have said to dh I will only do it with a hv who knows Nathan, I am not waiting for a face rubbing session like he is not doing this, he should be doing that etc. Don't need that. Will see.

Anyone else spending a lot of time laughing at their babies? Nathan is so funny. His latest is being held in my arms then planting wide open mouth kisses all over my chest real fast like a woodpecker, shouting ahahah in the process and clearly finding the whole thing very funny well it beats the happy slapping he was doing...He will also throw a complete and utter read faced tantrum at the physio until I pick him up, then settle on my hip and grin at her, minx!

Oh well, better off to bed. Had a busy evening making lasagna for tomorrow and tidying up. washing machine finished, dishwasher humming.

Housemum · 12/10/2008 11:45

I did put Amelie in the cot awake last night - it took an hour but she did settle in the end. Lot of crying and snot.... (her, not me, i hasten to add!)

Think I'll just have to persevere for a few nights, DD2 will have to put up with it, will be better for all in the long term. Also I want to try to break the milk=boobies=comfort link, so she's not distraught when I do stop BF

Gingeme · 12/10/2008 13:51

Afternoon ladies.
Boy what a night I think between 9.30pm and 1 am one of the boys was awake at some point Can't remember who and when as it all became a blur at one point but needless to say I'm well and truly knackered today.
Thankyou for your get well wishes re ds3. He is fine today apart from a cough. Hes eating loads and seems to be keeping it all where it should be
Dh is cooking a roast today. Oh I do love his roasts. Thats why he always cooks Christmas dinner
Nothing much doing here today. Changed the boys room round this morning. They have bunk beds and we have seperated them into two singles. Basicaly because I'm sick of risking my life trying to change them plus trying to get ds4 out of the bottom bunk whe he is crying is no mean task at midnight because his stupid bed guard doesn't fold down so we have to squash him over the top of it.
Might go to a park this afternoon. We shall see.
Well hope your all well. xxx

simpson · 12/10/2008 17:26

Hi

Hope everyone has had a good day today

Gingeme - hope tonight is better for you. How was roast? We went out for a carvery today which was lovely

Well DD has only pooed 4 times today no real screaming when she goes either. She has had no yogurt or cows milk on porridge today so don't know if that is what has done it, but have not switched her to soya milk....

Am feeling decidedly rough today sore throat etc so may stay at home for a bit longer and let DH look after Dcs!!

Angechica - Is it your DH who is a sports teacher and watches lots of sports?? Are you being subjected to some darts final tonight? Early night for me I think (or MN)

Gingeme · 12/10/2008 20:33

Hi Simpson. Our roast was delicioux thanks. Even tried ds5 with some roast parsnips and carrots which he seemed to enjoy.
Sounds interesting about dd's change in diet. Keep us posted.
ds4 looks so tiny in his great big bed all snuggled up right at the top of the bed.
We did end up at the park this afternoon. It was lovely and warm.
Think I'll be going to bed early too. In fact won't be long now.
Night all xx

JustKeepSwimming · 12/10/2008 21:08

had a good day here:
dh got up with boys (i was only up once with Henry in the end at 4am and he went back to sleep) and gave them breakfast, then brought me tea in bed.
I read a bit of the paper, did my crossword, etc. and got up at 9, lovely
fed H and put him back to bed, then headed into town on my own and bought myself a new winter coat (don't fit into the ones in the wardrobe ), but fit into a size 12 so hopefully it will last a bit even if i do get back to a 10.
weight loss going really well at the mo, thank goodness i was getting down about it, now down to 67kg/10.75ish stone. aiming for 10.5 stone first (healthy BMI), then 9.5 stone (pre-H weight) then 54kg/8.5 stone (pre-Tom weight).
home for lunch cooked by DH, then he took Tom to the supermarket while i faffed about got things done
and dh cooked dinner too, then i popped out to collect some ebay Bob stuff, just finished a glass of wine and off to bed in a mo. a good day

good luck to us all for a good night's sleep tonight, fingers crossed!

ok a Jan 08 non sleeping through poll, copy and paste:

JKS-bf & blw-up once or more a night
(any other info needed that might affect sleep?)
1 sibling?
own room?
just curious to see if there's a pattern...

AngeChica · 12/10/2008 21:43

hi all. DH's friends came round yesterday & knocked out wall between kitchen & dining room and a chimney breast in dining room so took DS out of the way all day yesterday and today. Vaguely habitable house now but I think we will be clearing up dust for weeks to come. it's horrible stuff. Plan is to get sparkly new kitchen diner but we're just doing it in bits as and when we can afford it!

We're watching Peter kay's thing tonight Simposn . DH has a teletext addiction but thank goodness we don't have Sky sports.

42 months JKS!!! still at least you got a lie in today - I have worked out that we NEVER can as someone has to do baby and someone has to do dog, so the only opportunity is like when we were on holiday and didn't have the dog with us.

Actually went out last night with some other mums I have met locally, it was nice! Of course DS had slept through all week but last night had us up from 3.30-4.30 . well, gotta get ready for work tomorrow . been a long time since that Sunday night feeling.....
