E&H what is a BIN price?

Wilkie - hope parents evening was good news. I didn't get much out of Ellens TBH. Today at her nursery one of the staff was 21 and is getting married tomorrow. How exciting!

We went to A&E last night as E ran into a door frame and her head came up in a huge egg. I was frightened! It turns out there is a kids a&e in leeds which was cool and no waiting so we were in and out.

Sylvie slept for 4 hours this aft and missed a feed so am hoping she still sleeps through. So tired at the mo.

Lizz hope you have a good day if you go to tunbridge wells

UD - was seaweed worth the wait?

Secret santa - chick lit books, no smellies (I have a lot waiting to be used already), woolly hats, chunky bangles, chocolate.

theSuburbanDryad · 22/10/2008 20:48

Vino - BIN is Buy It Now i think.

You guys have parents' evenings at your nurseries?! What do they involve then? Wilkie - so did J kick Cecile then or not?!

Shimmer · 22/10/2008 21:50

Obviously the time of year for it, Freddie's nursery is doing parent's evenings now too. He's only got 1 more week there though, so we won't be going sadly. I've been tearing my hair out today trying to find a new nursery for F in Lewes. When I first checked I found about 4/5 near where we're moving to so i figured we'd be able to get in to 1 of them fine... BUT today i find out only 1 of them takes under 2s and it's full up!! Another 2 take them from 2 (so we'd only have to wait a few months) and ...they're full too!!!

So now I'm confused. I guess I could look into childminders, but i've always preferred the idea of nursery. Or I could start looking into nurseries a bit further afield. We were planning to get a car quite soon after we move anyway....

Any advice??

Shimmer - I'm meeting up with a mate who has lived round here for longer than me, and she has friends in Lewes, not sure if they have babies, but she may know of some more good nurseries you could try. There are lots of nice villiages outside Lewes too. You could start a thread about it maybe? x

eandh · 23/10/2008 08:40

Lizz - spoke to mum she said most of shops are open in T Wells on sunday, however, some of the smaller independent ones may not be.

Shimmer - have you tried the childcare website umm cant think what it is called I'll ask eddas as she used one that got her loads of links

Vin- BIN is indeed buy it now I tend to stick a BIN price on larger stuff as when I look for bigger things I cant be bothered to auction for them and just prefer BIN also just needed the cot gone as was taking up so much room. They left me lovely feedback (I gave them loads of fitted cotbed sheets etc so that may have helped!)

Got to go to bank when E at school as had 2 transactions for play.com on our current account except it wasnt us! Phoned bank and placed stop on account grrrr I don't need this today!

PCF I just added you on FB! UD I looked for you but with your super security settings I couldn't find you... so feel free to add me if you want! (i'm friends with eah, wilkie, rgee, vino ummm... lots of others i've forgotten, sorry...)

Thanks for the advice on nurseries. I am coming to the conclusion that there's no way he'll get in anywhere before he's 2... but that's not such a long time away, so we'll just have to wait for then i think and hope we can get a place somewhere in Jan.

Gosh F's completely hyper this evening. God knows how i'm going to get him to bed

Katw3kitts · 23/10/2008 22:31

Hummmm ... think I'll wait for the birth announcement UD, I like a surprise

So, honestly ... parents evenings at nursery ?? don't you get a blow by blow account of what they do anyway ??

ofsted madness.

I've just come across a 'catwithkittens ' ... and I think its too similsr to mine. Hrumph.

Half term next week ... lets hope the weather is good.

theSuburbanDryad · 24/10/2008 08:28

Can I have a dose of sympathy please? I have got horrendous heartburn and spent the night on the sofa chucking up! Thought I was done with the sickness but apparently not! Z was being very sweet though, apart from giggling at me when I was being sick...

Wilkiepedia · 24/10/2008 08:32

Parents Evening - it was actually really nice. It wasn't so much abotu J, more a chance for the parents to really have a good snoop around, ask lots of Q's to the staff, raise any issues, look at the different rooms etc. Well, apparently J didn't kick Cecile (that they know of) and PMSL. I asked if he slept well and they looked at each other and started laughing. Apparently when he is put into his bed, he gets up, chats to the other children who are trying to sleep, climbs in bed with other children before eventually flakng out.

Oh, and in the bath last night he has taken to stuffing his willy into the top of an empty bottle he plays with and says 'That's nice!' DH and I were ROFL.

Vino - poor E Horrible having to go to A&E with them but at least she is OK.

EAH - gonna cancel my acc with Play - that's really bad

PCF - have confirmed your friend request

Shimmer - we had a nightmare with nurseries and CMs when we moved - all were either full or I didn't like them! Ring your local Children Information Service (they are also online) for a list cos there were loads more available that I could find in Yell.com

J has filled his drawers, must go change him cos he STINKS. Roll on when he can use the potty...!!

Wilkiepedia · 24/10/2008 08:33

x-post - sympathies UD. Not nice, hate feeling sick although could be a bug? Loads going round here

Reggiee · 24/10/2008 08:56

Morning.

Loads of bugs around here too - sickness, colds, throat infections etc. Hope you get better soon UD. P has a cold so I've been wiping snot all week.

Nursery cancelled P parents evening this Wednesday due to lack of interest. Was actually looking forward to going to my first parents evening. Was going to get to see her 'art' folder.

I am being prevented from MNing this morning as the 'thing' at the minute is bobbles and clips. So far have had to put bobbles in lots of her toys (they don't even have hair so am being v creative) and clips in and out of her hair every two seconds then she rushes off to admire herself in the mirror.

PCF have added you to FB although I must say I rarely look at it these days. THink I'm too old to keep up...

Kat you going to the Lakes next week?

Shimmer how is all the organisation going? Must be v hectic for you atm.

vinorouge · 24/10/2008 13:52

Hurried post from vino

PCF - if I don't hear from you on facebook I'll look foryou next week when I get a sec.

Am busy packing for weekend at a caravan in the dales. Mad I know in this weather but is a friends place and we are going with them, can use as much heating oil as we need to (!) and gonna get out for a walk tomorrow whatever the weather. I have plenty of waterproofs and warm clothes for us all. Also made meatballs and sauce for toinights tea and got things for pack up tomorrow as we walk. Sylvie has been very good just playing and gurgling in the kitchen as I dashed about.

Must dry my hair now and get properly dressed - still wearing the clothes I thre on when I took E to nursery.

Shimmer - god luck with finding a new nursery. I am hoping that some new mum friends (sylvies age) will use ellen;s niursery as I will get a discount for referring them . I keep singing its praises - it is good too!

The retailer and the manufacturer of phil and teds are going to inspect my buggy, plus local Trading Standards coming to see it so even if I don;t get anywhere at least I will know I've done as much as I can.

E has had a cold all week but the flow of snot seems to have eased off a bit. She finally seems to have got the hang of staying in bed when we out her in it. Only taken 3 months!

Rgee- I wish e's hair was long enough for bobbles. IT has grown a bit recently but I just have to admire its blondness rather than get to put it in bunches etc.

UD - sympathiesd - hope you feel brighter soon

Mums of older kids - when do boys grow out of the purile sense of humour?? At the supermarket this morning
Old lady in front of us in queue: oh what well behaved boys!
Me (ever so slightly smugly): they do behave well in the supermarket, yes (not mentioning the bribery in the car on the way home being the only reason they behave well!!)
ds1 (at the top of his voice):MUM YOU'RE A BOGEY!!!!!! PesHSL. Chants bogeybogeybogeyteeheehee until we leave. [fsigh]

((of course, I realise men never really grow out of finding bodily functions hilarious...))
