Homework should be reinforcement/ consolidation so he should be able to do it on his own with you checking it once it's finished or helping if he's stuck. Would he get on better if you just left him to it - with the kitchen timer on him ? But obviously he needs to read aloud - maybe to DD with you hovering in the background.

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/09/2008 21:07

Am watching Jamie - saw the cheesy chips but WTF was in the other thing? Looked like dog food.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/09/2008 21:07

I heart cheesy chips! It is one of my weaknesses!

I can't run... I'd wet myself !

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/09/2008 21:09

How do folk on benefits afford takeaway? We can't afford takeaway! PMSL at the chocolate in the veggie boxes in the fridge!

Sputnik · 30/09/2008 21:10

Jammy, just looking at your photos on FB. Your DD is gorgeous of course. Baby Sputnik still has hair like that too.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/09/2008 21:11

Aw, thanks Sputnik

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/09/2008 21:12

Was just about to say that Holly. Takeaway for the 4th time that week! I couldn't afford it just for myself never mind family of 4.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/09/2008 21:15

God I can't keep up with this thread atm....like Jammy....fitting everything in is a military operation....and I've got a blardy cold....every time I sneeze I nearly wet myself . Just decided that Scotland to Kent in one day is too much so leaving a day early and staying in a travelodge in Doncaster....wherever that is (about half way I think )

Daisy....have FBd you....please e-mail me tomorrow x

OK style gurus - my brother just got married at the weekend (in Greece). They are home this week & having another reception (Fri) for those of us who couldn't go. I have absolutely nothing to wear. Nothing fits me, all my mat. gear from last time is already too small. Oh and I'm pretty skint. Need something cheap & enormous yet still suitable for wedding do. Have been living in joggies & jammies & one pair of mat jeans that can still fit into.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/09/2008 21:26

This dress any good?

Ohforfoxsake · 30/09/2008 21:30

The idea of reading to DD is brilliant Tallulah

I am at the takeaways 4 times a week. I quite like this programme - I firmly believe in good nutrition and educating people in it, although how some can get it SO wrong shocks me.

Bring back Home Ed in schools I say! All those delicacies we were taught. Egg Custard, Eggs au Gratin, Apple Charlotte - oh how I loved practising - and how my parents hated it!

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/09/2008 21:31

Nice Jammy but is freezing here. Would trousers & top be too scabby? After all the actual wedding is done & dusted so this just an evening celebration.

Ohforfoxsake · 30/09/2008 21:32

Is Mrs Oliver pg again then? Just saw that Grazia advert.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/09/2008 21:32

I remember doing eggs mornay in cookery at school and someone fed it to their tortoise, who was then sick!

We also did cakes, pizza, bread, and fruit salad I think.

last try

Sputnik · 30/09/2008 21:36

Sounds ok to me T, maybe look for a nice top or some soft stretchy trousers, you're going to need the anyway.

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/09/2008 21:36

Yep Foxy - Home Eccies should be compulsory. I HATED it at school,I was rubbish- took the entire double period to peel my spuds for cheesy mash & broke the sewing machine the first time I got near it. But I still think it's so important to know how to cook basic meals & plan around a budget.

Ohforfoxsake · 30/09/2008 21:36

ah ha!

LittleMissNorty · 30/09/2008 21:36

need to do two

Bumperlicious · 30/09/2008 21:37

What about the Bravado dress Holly linked to earlier?

Sorry, am off for a shower then bed now, struggling to fit MN in at the moment. DD had drunk as much of her milk that she wanted, got off the sofa, taken the bottle into DH in the kitchen washing up then toddled off into her bedroom before DH said "er, are you going to put her to bed then?"
