has anyone used that ebid site advertised on the right?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 13:52

Hi Ria. Just want to say it sounds like you've been brilliant with DSS, and and that your DH was got at over it. Always sounds like all your boys are really lucky to have you as a mum.

We're off to Brittany on Saturday. Got to leave home at the unearthly hour of 4.30am unfortunately, but at least that way we get a 3.5 hour ferry crossing instead of 7 hours I think everything is ready, just needs packing up. Of course, DH hasn't done any of the preparation other than playing with his new GPS and he will pick up some bits for the car from Halfords tonight

Riaonabroomstick · 18/09/2008 14:02

boys and their toys hey jammy.

thanks for that. I hope DH isn't too upset when he gets home, he might be a twunt sometimes but I would defend him to the ends of the earth (good thing I didn't go with him).

Right, no more ebay - I have a professor to nuture (thank goodness he hasn't mentioed being a chef for a couple of days!!!)

back later x

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2008 14:09

Hi Soprana! Welcome, how nice to have new people joining us

Thats shite Ria, I agree with Jammy, sounds like you did really well, perhaps ExW has been poisonous? But well done to DS1 too!

I don't use pillows until they go into a bed.I either prop the top of the cot up on books or I did use a wedge once which was good. Mine will stay in sleeping bags until they can get out of them themselves, when I shall turn it inside out, and eventually stitch them into it. Because soon they'll be climbing out of the cots. Then there's trouble!

DD2 doesn't say much. Apart from Mama, mama or more insistently, MAAAMAAAAA. Ga for ta, she picked up a hairbrush and said "brush".

She also says Spongebob Squarepants. I am so proud!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 14:27

Hi Foxy!

Sputnik · 18/09/2008 14:52

Ladies, please can you stop what you're doing for a moment and join me in a minute's silence for my washing machine

I thank you.

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2008 15:04

gutted for you

RIP Sputniks Washer

Riaonabroomstick · 18/09/2008 16:04

Grr, baggins deleted it again. why doesn't he delet the short pointless ones?

Riaonabroomstick · 18/09/2008 16:09

sorry sputnik. did you have a weeks worth of washing to catch up on too?

DH has rung, sounds like FIL has been his usual supportive self (not) ths afternoon. apparently DSS went straight into his house and turned on the PC, but was going to starton the weeks worth of dirty dishes and then make soup for tea. DH has to go back later to talk to ExW. I think it would be better if the text had been from her, we're used to that. It will be if it's from DSD as DH has always been s "dughters daddy" in that house.

Will be glad when he is home.

Riaonabroomstick · 18/09/2008 16:10

I hope DSS didn't sneak on to Mnet while we weren't looking and will be reading about himself.

IamRiallyindiguise · 18/09/2008 16:12

Don't like secondary school - I have to get off the PC for DS1 to do his homework.

back later after I've stuffed them with sausage egg and proper chips!!!

Sputnik · 18/09/2008 17:24

Sounds like your DH can't win Ria.

Luckily I am quite ahead with the washing, but I do have some dirty nappies. I found a large disc of metal that held the drum to the outer casing, it had sheared off, so really don't think it's fixable, and it was leaking a little so obviously time for a new one. Bloody hell though it's not that old, maybe had it 5-6 years or so.

Daisy in case you haven't seen this.

IamRiallyindiguise · 18/09/2008 17:47

Just back for a spot of halo polishing. I made them treacle sponge and custard (which exploded all over the microwave) with ingredients and everything!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 17:56

Wow Ria, you're on fire!

Well, for a little girl that doesn't "do" much, she's done loads of cool stuff today

Stood unaided for about 15 seconds, before half falling/half throwing herself at me in delight.
Pulled a tshirt over her head. And off again. And on. And off again. (Repeat a few dozen times.)
Almost pulled a sock on by herself.
Fed herself a spoonful of her tea, including scooping it out of the bowl (normally I have to do the scooping bit.)
Copied me holding a kitchen roll inner cardboard tube to my nose and trumpeting like an elephant.

All made me proud, but that last one was the cutest

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 18/09/2008 19:25

for sputnik's washing machine, may it rest in peace! Hope you can get a new one soon.

Ria, you go girl!

Lol at baby foxy saying Spongebob! My ds toots at Thomas, snorts at Peppa and roars at Mr. Dinosaur. I think he watches too much tv!

I am going to my first NCT meeting tonight! I don't know anyone at all, I'm just going to rock up at this lady's house and say hi. I'm really nervous and when I get nervous I talk too much and say the wrong thing! Yikes! I have to go and get some stuff signed by the chair for my bfc training and also become more involved in the local groups. AAAARRRGHHH!! I am leaving in 5, wish me luck!

LittleMissNorty · 18/09/2008 19:29

Good luck Holly

You'll be fine

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 19:46

I am bored. I am meant to be working, but I don't have enough that I can do at home tonight to keep me fully occupied. They need my work laptop for IT to do something to it, so I don't have access to everything I need to do some tasks. Very frustrating.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 19:46

Hope all is going well with Holly

Sputnik · 18/09/2008 19:47

Good luck Holly.

LOL at Spongebob

It's funny how sometimes they seem to have developmental leaps and do loads of new stuff at once. Mine was gripped by Boogie Beebies today, I could tell he wanted to do some of the moves, but was clueless about where to start, other than clapping.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/09/2008 19:56

Sputnik. Jamlet quite likes a bit of boogie beebies from time to time. She just sits and sort of rocks to the music. Then she'll get bored and play with some toys for a bit and dip in and out throughout the show. In The Night Garden is the only programme that can keep her attention for it's entirety. Other things she mostly pays attention when there is music, but especially if she's tired, Night Garden can have her totally transfixed.

Sputnik · 18/09/2008 20:00

DS is a bit of a telly addict, I have to admit. PFB DD had hardly seen any tv at his age. Then we got the Muppets and she watched nothing but that for 6 months. She would do like your DD, watch a bit then get on with other stuff.

DS is glued. His absolute favourite is Shaun the Sheep, he cries when each episode finishes, til the next one starts

LackaDAISYcal · 18/09/2008 20:04

Yay Jamlet

All that at once.....she is a clever bunny

Funny how they go in fits and starts like that isn't it?

DD came out with another new word today, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was . I completely forgot the name for something the other day...DS asked what sort of primates were on the telly the other night and all I could do was look at these things in puzzlement. I knew that I knew the name, but it wasn't coming and all I could think of was bamboo. Of course they were bloody baboons weren't they?

Ria, sorry for your family (well step family) trials and tribulations. they sounds like a right bunch of horrors. I'm sure your DSS will be happy that he had a lovely time at yours though; it seems to have gone well.

holly, you'll be fine . I never made it to the first tutorial on Tuesday, and have decided to wait until spring. I will do all the pre-paperwork and sort out references and funding etc though. Getting out in the evenings is a bit of a no go at the moment. I can barely keep my eyes open come teatime. there is a tutorial on a Saturday in mid October so I'll see if I can make it to that one!

Ordered some new specs today! Last time I got some it cost me over £300 for two pairs, plus some new lenses in my sunglasses. Went to Tesco and am getting two pairs of bench frames with anti-reflective coated lenses for £140! My prescription hasn't changed by much so my sunnies will still be fine for driving. Bargain city.

erm....what else have I forgotten?

LackaDAISYcal · 18/09/2008 20:09

It's the opposite here Sputnik. DS was well hooked on Thomas by this age, but DD isn't bothered for TV at all, other than a fleeting glance at In the Night Garden and Pingu. she did like the re-run of The Blue Planet this evening though and nearly jumped out of her skin at a giant lobster coming towards her at one point . she does like music though, and will sing along and dance to whatever I'm playing in the car. She likes the first Live Lounge compilation, especially The Arctic Monkeys!

And, she had pooed herself just after I out her down for a sleep earlier, went digging in her nappy and smeared shit everywhere and when she woke up was covered in it; all over her face and hands and down her legs and all over the bed.....nice

Again.....that's what she said earlier!

That sounds delightful Daisy.

OK, I must go back to work now that I've eaten my tea.

HellHathNoFury · 18/09/2008 21:08

DS watches no tv at all. It's not for lack of my trying, I'd love him to so I can cook dinner in peace or something, but he refuses.

He is glutton child. He ate 3 bowlfuls of my haddock, pea and edamame risotto for dinner. That's more than I had. Then I gave him chocolate for dessert, which he hated.

He is an odd child, he will happily eat fish, spinach, broccoli, blueberries all day every day but HATES chocolate.

Took him to the GP today who thinks he may have asthma. I hope not.

Speaking of lungs, mine are a little better.

DS doesn't speak at all really, when he comes to 'doing' stuff he is excellent, he can fully feed himself, kicks balls, do hand movements to songs, run, jump and has started learning to pedal a trike, but he says bugger all.
2 words - 'picture' which he says like 'pisshaaahh' and his name which he says like 'zuzzun'. Oh, and horse, where he says 'hosshosshoss'.

He is obsessed with horses and dogs.
