HellHathNoFury · 27/08/2008 21:16

yes I am sick too of the throwing food on the floor.
DH and I are just mentally exhausted from him.

When he's good (rare) he's WONDERFUL. When he's stroppy (often) we want to leave him in another room and hide.

Your DD Daisy and my DS do sound very similar. Strong personalities methinks.
The screaming is never ending and if you try and hold him it makes hm worse. He throws himself backwards and we ended up in A&E with him the other day when he threw himself backwards and got concussed.

Jammy you may be lucky, it may not happen for you!

Anyway DH is telling me I have to go to bed as I was complaining about being tired earlier.
Night all.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/08/2008 21:18

Night Fury, sleep well

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/08/2008 21:28

Ah, well if there's nobody to chew the fat with then I'll go to bed as well. Night.

LittleMissNorty · 27/08/2008 21:50

My DD had her first full on tantrum this morning as she didn't want to get up ....throwing herself around, collapsing on the floor in a heap, refusing to open her legs to put a nappy on, ripping it off when it was on, ripping off a t-shirt.....all whilst screaming her head off ......neighbours must love me....this was 6.15am!

Hard life being a baby isn't it?

We also have the easy communication (scream and point and then whatever is done isn't good enough)....as much as I can, I let her get on with it!

Sputnik · 27/08/2008 22:21

Hey Natty, congratulations
Now step away from the tests.

Daisy how's it going? Hope your BHs have calmed down. God it seems only yesterday we were all going through it the last time.

I am not looking forward to tantrums. No sign yet though.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 22:26

I long for children who don't want to get up Norty..........mine are both early birds and no amount of convincing will make them stay in bed.

Sorry I missed you jammy; I've been around but looking at Phil and Teds buggies.

I've been having a panic that nothing is ready for the baby, in that we haven't even ordered a double pram yet......or a sling for toting the new one about in till we get a pram. Nearly panic bought a load of baby stuff on Monday (vetss/babygros etc) but DH calmed me down, and now I've looked to see what I do have, it's not that bad. We will survive for about a week before we need to do a wash! So, just baby toting around device and we are set.......but still need to punt my big pram before ordering a new one

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 22:29

nope sputnik.......regular BHs every few minutes. Not sore, just annoying as they make me want to wee.

how's the weather with you now? and was it an earthquake the other week?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 27/08/2008 22:41

I think it was some kids letting off a giant homemade firework at ground level.

Daisy, are you interested in my sling, it's one of these. I never used it that much as DS grew very heavy very quickly! It seemed pretty good, but ask Bumper, she got the same one. Anyway, you can have it at a knockdown price if you like!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 22:47

Is that the one you had shipped in from the states? I did consider it at the time but didn't get one for some reason. Can I do a bit of sling research and get back to you? Will probably be interested though

FB me your knock down price

am also panicking about the birth, given my last childbirth experience. that elective section is beginning to look more and more appealing, and i can come home next day and stay in bed for a week......

Am 30 weeks tomorrow . how the fuck did that happen?

OP posts:
NattyThomasAndEllen · 27/08/2008 23:37

daisy try not worry about birth, im sure u will be ok, ive had 2 horrific births, but its the end product that is important, TRY to remember that, its hard i know. i am already panicing because of my group b strep.

oh and carriers.. i have on of these zolowear.com/Default.aspx and i can STILL carry ellen in it, because of the design you can tighten or losen the top and bottom rail of the sling. it is FABBY! expensive... but well worth it. it has a pocket with a zip on it, to put ur purse in so you can go out with a nappy in it, wipes and ur purse... no changing bag!

it carries high or low, and breastfeeding covers you up completly and handsfree u can do it pushing the pushchair with DD in.
i did this with tom and ellen being 13 months apart, and went without a double pushchair till recently, as i dont wanna carry ellen now im pregnant because of what happened last month.

i really cannot recommend these more, i will be using mine for my new baby at first as i dont want to buy a pram till i have a baby to trial in it in the shop to be 100%!! sounds stupid i know, but i dont wanna get the wrong one, if my baby is long or wide or really small it effects which support system i will need.

ok i have stuck my nose in enough now...

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 23:41

makes perfect sense about trying out the pram with the baby in it. I think that's what we'll do as well and just use the sling for a bit.

right, am off to bed. Have been talking nappies all night and now I need another wee

Night all

Bumperlicious · 28/08/2008 08:45

Morning all. Daisy I liked my sling but did find it quite tight, when DD was little I worried it was suffocating her! (Sure it wasn't) but I do still use it occasionally. I would probably get a Closer Carrier next time, but you'll want to ask DKMA about that one. How can you be 30 weeks?!!!

Fecking car's broken down! And we have no breakdown cover. Fortunately it's just up the road (Dh was on the way to work) but we will still have to pay the garage to come and collect it, and then fuck knows how much it will cost to fix. Just when we think we are getting back on track something like this fucking sets us back months.

We don't really have tantrums here yet, just a whinge when she can't have what she wants, but she is fairly easily distracted though. At the moment she is flicking through my Baby Yoga book (never used) saying "dayde, dayde" meaning baby!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/08/2008 09:16

Morning. Slow morning here as I'm knackered after being up for 2 hours in the night with a screaming jamlet Teething I think judging by the rosy cheeks.

Bummer about the car Bumper. Hope it ends up being something easy and cheap to fix.

Ooops, while I've typed this, Jamlet has just shredded a paper tissue into a million pieces. Better go check she's not eating it!

HellHathNoFury · 28/08/2008 09:32

morning ladies
I can't be arsed with work today, I am wondering if I can discover my inner actress and feign illness and go home early.

Daisy I have spoken to DH and won't be selling my old camera am afraid, am going to keep it, at least for a while. TBH you can get new ones of a similar spec now really cheap.

Have been chatting to a mortgage advisor in Aus. We are nowhere near getting a decent deposit together. Bum.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/08/2008 09:43

I can't be arsed either Fury. But Jamlet doesn't take kindly to sickies

LackaDAISYcal · 28/08/2008 10:21

Thanks bumper (I know, where did the time go?) and fury (he said he is happy with the camera he has got for the minute fury.....arses, cos I have my eye on that one )

Am taking the DCs out to the urban farm in a wee bit. They are driving me potty today.

Also have a huge case of the can't be areseds.

Does anyone ever feel that they wished they had never bloody well had children? DD was up for nealry two hours in the night, firstly with a dirty nappy, then she wouldn't go back to bed. She was wide awake and happy to cuddle me, but if I said the word bed she started screaming. I tried taing her to bed with me but if I tried to settle her next to me....more screaming. Eventually I just put her in bed and let her scream it out. I think I fell asleep before she did . DH is taking DS fishing this weekend, and no matter how hard I try I can not convince him to take DD as well

Did anyone suffer with restless legs when they were pregnant? not sure if that's what's going on with me, but it feels like my toes are wanting to curl up of their own accord all the time and they get really twitchy. It's driving me nuts.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 28/08/2008 10:22

Bugger Bumper.

I have to admit I would probably get a closer carrier too if I was starting from scratch and actually wanted to wear it to get stuff done or go out. The buddha one was great for calming him in those newborn inconsolable moments though, he would calm instantly.

If I was you I'd go for the c-section, but then I'm a wimp! I know the whole thing is very emotive but I'm more of the school of thought that it's the end result (ie the baby) that's important, and women are often made to feel inadequate over their birth experience if it's not the "ideal". As if the rest of motherhood wasn't enough!

No tantrums really to speak of here either, the odd complaint. He has just discovered the tap on the bidet, I just found him spraying himself and the entire bathroom with water. We try and keep the bathroom closed as he has a dropping things down the toilet fixation too, but DD left it open.

Sputnik · 28/08/2008 10:25

I had the restless legs Daisy. Annobal reckoned it was calcium deficiency and may well have been right as they went away as soon as I ate some sardines. Parmesan cheese is very good for calcium too.

Bumperlicious · 28/08/2008 10:28

We have to leave the bathroom closed too because otherwise we find her wrapped in swathes of loo roll!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/08/2008 10:31

Jamlet doesn't get put on floor upstairs so hasn't found her way into bathroom. When I've put her down in there while I use loo/clean teeth/whatever she always makes a beeline for the cleaning stuff, bleach etc. Must get a box to keep them in.

HellHathNoFury · 28/08/2008 10:38

Hey Daisy, I figured you/your DH wasn't too bothered. 20D is 4 years old now and has been much improved since with the 30D, 40D and 50D.
But if I am honest I would recommend a newer model anyway, like the 450D, that's a great starter SLR. Or the 1000D which is brand new out and very affordable (but quite basic).
But also it's the lenses that cost a bomb, not the camera, my last lens cost £1000

You can have the best camera in the world but if you put a crappy glass on it you are going to get crappy pictures.

I'll shut up now, I know it's boring!!

Apparently yes restless legs and cramps are calcium deficiency. I think. Or was is magnesium?

HellHathNoFury · 28/08/2008 10:39

DS likes posting things into the toilet.

Sputnik · 28/08/2008 10:39

Yes we've had the "baby in a big heap of loo roll" scenario, it's cute the first time. We've also had the baby playing with bog brush one, less cute.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 28/08/2008 13:04

bloody doctors!
we had to take thomas to a&e last week cos he swallowed some anti diareeh tablets and some muscle rub. he somehow worked out how to open the bathroom door, and reach the cabint on the wall while i was feeding ellen her breekie.. i thought that he was in his room.

now i have to see the doctor about a "note of concern that has been passed to us by a&e"

what the fuck? seriously am i the only whos son is so mischievious i cannot watch him every second of every day. i have another child to look after, and if i wasnt stuck in a stupid tiny little flat the bathroom would be upstairs out of harms way.

i am so angry, i make one little mistake and get bollocked for it. i could have just not taken him to a&e, but my sons health was more importnat then what they thought of me, doesnt that show i am a good parent? surely?

foxythesnowfox · 28/08/2008 15:02

shitty shite Natty. Don't worry about it, go and see them and put them right. I'm sure its just procedure - the hospital passing the buck to your GP.

I'm with you on the 'can't be arsed front'. Have seriously run out of steam. Luckily kids have been good and are happy to knock about at home. LO was up aaaallllllllll night. From the state of her nappies I'd say teething. Unfortunately she did the 'look I can remove my nappy and smear shite over my toys and when daddy wants to clean me up he'll put me on the cream sofa without a change mat' trick this morning. I was still in bed having been up all night. The lady from the hospital was here for the diet/salt trials DCs are taking part in. Oops.
