Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

i'm inside, enjoying the peace! DSs at the rugby, DD2 in bed, have been spoiling DD1. Oooh, can I keep her at home and not send her to school with those nasty children who will lead her astray and teach her bad words?

Oh, hang on, she'll be the one teaching the others won't she? Everytime she spoke to DP when he was in China she sang "Chinese. Japanese. What are these? BOOBIES". Its always the same little boy in DS1s class who teaches them these things (like winking, pointing and saying "sssexy girrrrl"), so now DD will be taking these gems into nursery

The other mums will hate me!

NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 16:00

lol foxy how funny! i wouldnt hate u lol! u will just have to win them over with u fabby personality!

did test, and it explained why i was getting negative tests when i was 4 days late.
working it out from LMP i should be 5 and half weeks, but according to CB test i am only 4-5. so i ovulated late? possibly the MC messed up my cycle?
anyway explains why the line was so so faint even tho i was 5 days late when it went positive, and why morning sickness only just started properly last few days, my MS usually starts at 4 weeks (unlucky me, most ppl its 6!) so it all fits in.

i am dead impressed, i will be buying one of those straight away next time (yes i do want 4.. i think im mad lol) as it eliminates all the worry about faint lines lol!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:16

Are you going to relax a bit now Natty?

I wonder if they still work when you are 30 weeks though

foxy, can not offer any advice at the giving up at this stage (we didn't cover that in my peer supporter training ) Complete withdrawal seems a bit harsh as she is bound to get upset, but not sure what a good alternative solution would be. There have been threads on it before though, so maybe a search would help?

According to my HV, DD has "too much" milk in the morning and evening. She was having an 8oz bottle morning and night and often a small drink of milk with her lunch and tea, as well as in cereal. We have now cut that to a cup in the morning (5ish ozs), with ceral, one mealtime and 7ozs at bedtime, still out of a bottle . Her eating is still sporadic so maybe she is getting toomuch milk? Who knows. I need to take her to the HV on Tuesday as she doesn't appear to be growing very much and is still in 9-12 months trousers.

Evening all. We had a lovely afternoon out at the festival. Had some beer, sat on the grass and kept Jamlet entertained. Had a look round and watched some dancing and martial arts demonstrations, watched the children's rides (Jamlet too small ), had pancakes with bananas, and bought her a fairy wand to wave around Stayed out later than planned and she fell asleep on the bus home, then went straight to bed at home, about an hour later than usual.

No words from Jamlet

LittleMissNorty · 30/08/2008 20:25

Does their growth rate slow down now? My DD is still in 9-12 trousers as well - but just growing out of her 9-12 tops. I'm putting off buying 12-18 stuff as long as possible as summer is about to end and don't want to waste any money.

LOL your DD1 Foxy....she's sounds a sweetie.....I am really looking forward to my DD being that age....she already knows how to turn on the charm

Bought a lovely changing unit and cot off of e-bay today ....just need to get a matress and I'm all set

Sainsbury's are doing 1/3 off ALL baby gear ladies, including nappies, wipes, cream, the lot. Until Thursday I think.

Got a rotten cold that is keeping me awake and the Sainsbury's pharmcist says I can't take any decongestent.....

LittleMissNorty · 30/08/2008 20:27

My DD doesn't say much either Jammy.....dadadadada and Ta.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 20:27

Daisy, Jamlet is still in some 9-12s, though some things as 12-18. A couple of tops are 18-24 as the smaller size was too tight to get over her melon-like head. Mind there's one outfit that she's only just stopped wearing that was 3-6 months!

Jamlet has about 100-150ml milk with her breakfast and at bedtime. She also has milk on her cereal and most days has some cheese and/or yoghurt.

Mmmm, DH has just put pizzas in the oven and opened the wine

LittleMissNorty · 30/08/2008 20:29

mmmmmmm I'm waiting for Domino's to deliver my pizza

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:33

Norty, boots do an own brand hot lemon that is just paracetomol, no decongestant. Might not help with the bunged-upness, but still gives that hot lemon comfort

virgil will be in the crib for a few months and then we will move DD into a big bed and he will move into her cot. big bed not that big though; although full sized, it;s very low to the ground.

Still don't know how to split up the bedrooms; the two littlies in the double and DS in the single, or DD in the single and the two boys in the double.

Jammy, DD will get there...and then you'll find she won't shut up! Believe it or not, I was a very late talker . Glad you had a nice festival. Did the sun shine? It's been redt hot here today but overcast and very sticky. Bring on the thunderstorms to clear the air!

The TV is utter shoite tonight.

LittleMissNorty · 30/08/2008 20:39

What age to DCs normally go into a bed?

I've got a moses basket but DD was only in that a few weeks....she sent me mad shuffling about so was in a cot by 8 weeks old....plus I've had to buy a full size 3ft divan as it will double up as the spare bed for my mum when she stays......god the thought of DD being able to wander around upstairs and wake me up / play with everything

We're just coming to the end of our huge decorating spree.....bought forward by some distance when we found out I was pg........bloody sick of it now!

Will try that hot lemon thing thanks

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 20:41

hot, sunny, but still humid here. Plenty of factor 50 on the jamlet. I forgot mysewlf, but don't seem to have caught it much, so maybe not as bad as it seemed.

I was also a late talker, again you'd never think so now

Bumperlicious · 30/08/2008 20:44

Just very quickly as about to watch the West wing, DD has BF in the morning, DH usually gives her 2x8oz in the day (I forget and usually give her 1) and she has 8oz or so before bed. Not something I'm worrying about. Though I was fretting about her weight as she seems really slow to put on, but I'm guessing that is because she is walking. Catch you all soon x

Sputnik · 30/08/2008 20:46

Foxy I reckon the best way is cut down 1 bf at a time. Hard for the night ones though, can you rope your DP into trying to comfort her? It will probably involve some tears whatever happens.

Baby Sputnik has a good long bf going to bed, then these days usually wakes around 5 or 6. I am very hazy about what happens that time of night but I think they're getting shorter. He then goes back to sleep and he wakes around 7 and sort of crawls around taking a sip here and there. The a decent nap time one and maybe an afternoon one depending. He seems happy to eat other stuff too.

I must admit I have been making more effort to stuff him well at mealtimes by offering different "courses" of stuff. It does seem to have improved his sleeping.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 20:46

ahhh just wrote a long post and comp deleted it grr
daisy ellen has a pint a day, half at night and the rest in cereal and meals (cheese sauces, etc)
dunno what that is in oz tho.. is she on cows milk?

ellen is in the same size too dont worry, 9-12 trousers, dont worry tom was in 9-12 till he was 18 months old and went straight in 18-24, just pretends how they grow doesnt it?

thomas went to bed at 5.30 this evening. he threw his dinner at me and told me it was "fucking discusting woman" thats dhs phrase! so i put him to bed. cheeky bugger! he has only just gone off, but i hope he has learnt his lesson.. cant have that in the middle of a resturant... mind u.. i dont member what one of those looks like

Sputnik · 30/08/2008 20:51

TBH Im not sure whether he is really saying stuff or it's a lucky coincidence. He can say "duck" to order but not actually when he sees a duck or anything.

DD talked very late, she only had a few words at 2. Now I spend half the day wishing she'd shut up.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:55

norty....get a gate for her bedroom door

All the other 9-12 month legs is reassuring; I was just paranoid that DD seems very short in the leg compared to her body length.

OP posts:
NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 20:56

norty tom went into a bed at 15months, ellen needed the cot lol, he has one of those low toddler ones with a built in rail, the argos one you know what i mean?
ellen is going into that when we move she will be about 16 months then, and tom is going into a proper single bed now he is 2 and half. i think it depends on what stage ur babies are at, ellen stays put more now and dosent roll about in her cot quite as much, and she can climb in and out toms bed no problem.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 20:58

Have just put some photos of our day out on FB

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:59

DS told me once "I'm not eating that filth" . I was as they say, apoplectic with rage so he got sent to bed without anything to eat. He was five at the time though, not two and a half!

lol sputnik; I feel like that about DS too

I nearly started a thread the other day asking "AIBU to use my pregnacy tens machine as a type of cattle prod to help improve his behaviour" Didn't think it would go down to well though

thanks for your comment on my VBAC thread

NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 21:02

ellen signs while she says the word so i know what she is trying to say. but i think without the signing i wouldnt know what she was saying half the time, she is only getting the first or last sillebel (sp?!?) she signs dog when she sees a dog, and say "ogc", she signs please when she wants something and says "eeees" she says yeah and nods as well lol

been teaching her all about her body today, if u ask her where things are on mummys face she points now, i asked her where my tongue was and cos my mouth was closed she signed "gone" lmao and was looking under my chin for it! she is growing up fast!
i asked her where her foot was and she corrected me and told me they were called toes... "toooee" she said frowning!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 21:05

That's so cute Natty

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 21:06

Sometimes jamlet will find my nose when I ask her. or her nose.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 21:13

you would be surpised how much they understand at this age, if i didnt have the baby signing i wouldnt know ellen knows the diff between juice milk and water, that she understands the concept of please and thank you, and that she reckonises different animals, and thier names, even similar ones like lions and tigers, dogs and wolfs, frogs and lizards. she astounds me! they still look like babies and its shocking to see a baby telling u things, i cant get my head rouund it.
earlier she smacked her head on the dining table, came over crying, signed pain, then pointed to her head and the table.. then she signed naughty!!!

Izzybel · 30/08/2008 21:14

Hey!
DD has started to say a few words: Hiya, bye, gack gack (quack quack) everytime she sees a duck, ca (cat) and theyah (there you are!) when we play peek-a-boo.

She has about a pint of milk a day. I offer her about 9ozs in the morning an about 9ozs in the evening but she often doesn't take it all. Daisy, FWIW my friend gives her DS loads of milk. He has about 3 bottles a day and then small drinks in his cup throughout the day. If he refuses most of a meal she will give him more milk in his evening bottle and no one has ever told her that she is giving him too much. I am pretty sure that she has told our HV too.

It's been a lovely day today! It has been hot but not very sunny. DP, DD and I had a walk round town. I got some skinny jeans in a size 10

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/08/2008 21:17
