Well done baby Sputnik. That's it, they're off!

LOL Jammy at your semi-conversation at the vets.

Hello everyone!

Have been very motivated, getting jobs done. Which includes finally plugging in the DVD player which has been sat on top of the TV for the best part of 3 years. Feel back in control. Phew.

foxythesnowfox · 29/08/2008 21:05

Daisy, can you help?

Izzybel · 29/08/2008 21:07

Helloooo!
Yay for baby Sputnik!
Foxy, phew for Auntie Flo arriving! I hope she had a good excuse for being late!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 21:14

PMSL foxy . She was probably delayed due to the stress of DPs impending return.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/08/2008 21:15

Phew! Foxy. Shame about the tenner though.

Izzybel · 29/08/2008 21:19

D'ya know I actually do have an Auntie Flo! Well actually she's my mum's Auntie so she's my great Aunt...

Sputnik · 29/08/2008 21:27

Oh I bet you're relieved Foxy!
I thought of Daisy when I saw that thread too.

When DH got home today I told Baby Sputnik to demonstrate his walking skills to Daddy, whereupon he did! What a genius

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 21:30

I've posted, but I couldn't really help. If she finds the solution to the nappy rash though, I'm all ears

Why is your period called Auntie Flo? I'd never come across it till I joined MN. Round here they say "the painters and decorators are in"

OP posts:
Izzybel · 29/08/2008 21:38

Not sure why they call it AF I always just say it's "the time of the month!"
Not keen on AF coz I always think of my poor Auntie Florrie being used as a euphemism for period

Sputnik · 29/08/2008 21:40

Flo/Flow I guess.
We used it at school. Auntie Flo was a character in Bod.

Sputnik · 29/08/2008 21:46

Bod for all you young 'uns

Izzybel · 29/08/2008 21:47

You've just reminded me that I need to take DD to go and see my Auntie Florrie at some point. She will be calling me as I haven't been for ages and she sent DD a tenner for her birthday

NattyThomasAndEllen · 29/08/2008 22:01

izzy that is so funny, u have an aunty flo.. lol

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 22:05

Our headmaster's nickname was Bod......because he looked like him!

I'm sitting here with my feet on two picnic hamper freezer blocks....and they are still hot and twitchy. It's driving me nuts.

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/08/2008 22:20

My Nan was called Flo, and my mum had an Aunt Florrie

Never heard AF as that euphemusm until MN. We always just called it "that (or the wrong) time of the month"

LittleMissNorty · 29/08/2008 22:20

Foxy....glad its sorted.....CB sounds good though....tells you how far along!

Well done to Baby Sputnik....no stopping him now.

DD climbed the stairs tonight (closely followed by me) all on her own

I've just watched last nights Eastenders and sobbed my heart out ....even DH had to give me a cuddle as I was really going for it! Blardy hormones

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/08/2008 22:31

OK, I'm pooped. Been a hectic week here. And we're off out to the Bunkfest tomorrow. DH has a friend over to come with us, and I have kindly volunteered to take Jamlet home to bed and let them stay out drinking a while longer.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 29/08/2008 22:43

foxy where did u get that test? id love to try one.. just for fun see if its right?

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 22:43

norty, I have had a horribly hormonal afternoon and was in tears by the time DH got home (and on the verge of tears all the time). I didn't see eastenders tonight but I take it Dawn found out about Jase? Will watch on catch up when I'm feeling less wobbly.

Bumperlicious · 30/08/2008 08:21

Sorry for your hormonal days daisy and norty.

Yay for baby sputnik walking

DD is currently wondering around saying "shes" and trying to put her shoes on me, her and her dolly! "shes" (shoes) "dayde" (baby, also upsidaisy), "kis" (kis) and "duck-duck" (duck, sounds like a cross between duck and quack quack ) have all been added to her repertoire in the past 2 weeks. My bet's on the next word being "wii".

Talking of wiis, DH and I had our first wii-related argument last night. Basically he has gone on all the balance games and wiped me completely of the scoreboards, meaning that it is really hard for me to get back on them and really taking the fun out of it for me. So I had a go at him and he got in a huff and said that I hate to lose at anything (true), and can't just I be happy that he is finally doing well at something (the fricking wii? How about a new job?)

Anyway, good news on AF. I just say "on my period" (hey, DD just closely inspected me removing my mooncup, then had a quick look at what I had done down the loo - all euphemisms out of the window here!". But my mum calls is "woman's week" like it's a fricking magazine

Bumperlicious · 30/08/2008 08:22

I meant good news on AF for foxy btw!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 10:59

My Dad was known to refer to it as Mum's "bad week".....WTF? that teaches your daughters to feel wholesome about the whole thing....not!

I didn't realise you were a mooncup user bumper. Mine gave me thrush and cystitis, in spite of scrupulous hygiene ...and then I got pregnant so it's sitting in it's wee velvet pouch being useless.

DDs skin has stepped up a notch today. She was pulling at her nappy, so I took it off for her and she started scratching at the top of her buttocks and has ripped her skin to schreds and the blood was everywhere . Her nails aren't particularly sharp, so I'm really worried that all the steroids I've used on her over the last 10 months has made her skin really thin.

Does anyone know if this is permanent with steroids or does it improve over time? I think I'm going to have to get her to the docs, and then look at her diet and see what might be causing it.

We now have a very emphatic NO, book, ballil (balloon), cup, car and a few others which we can decipher but just sound silly to others.....my favourite being "aw bebbies" which is strawberries. She also said, clear as day last weekend as she picked up one of her dolls "bingo baby" and then couldn't understand why we were all laughing at her. So, that dolly will be bingo baby forever.

she is sitting pulling all the books off the shelf saying abookabookabooka over and over again......very cute.

I feel the need to go and exercise my comsumer spending muscle, but as is the way when you have a bit of extra cash, can't think of anything to buy (except a Wii, but DH would be ) and I know if I go near a shop, I'll only buy things for the DCs.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 30/08/2008 13:50

Bumper I might've known one of your DD's first words would be "shoes"
Baby Sputnik had a creditable attempts at "Daddy" today, also "digger".

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Daisy and Norty. Knowing it's hormones doesn't make it any easier, does it.

foxythesnowfox · 30/08/2008 14:39

LOL at 'shoes' baby Bumper.

DD doesn't say much, except 'mama. mama. mama. mama' like a broken baby doll. I want to go back to the gym next month and suspect I will have real issues leaving her in the creche.

Natty, you signed up for that Clearblue test didn't you? Did you get one? I got one today. Its the same one. I'd send it to you, but chances are I'll be testing again one day (NOT for a BFP you understand).

Do you know what? I actually think I'm done breeding. The real test will be when the baby is 18/24 months, but I think I feel over it.

And I am certainly over breastfeeding. Any ideas how to give it up at this stage? We spend a substantial part of the night cuddled up whilst she sucks on my breasts for comfort. I'm not keen to introduce a dummy at this stage, and she isn't interested in my finger. Its nipple or nothing.

I think I am going to have to leave her to sort herself out.

Any ideas would be very welcomed.

And also, how much milk do your LOs have first thing in the morning and before bed.

DD1 is wearing her school uniform today. It is new and she is insisting. Together with the new tights and new red boots. She is very sweet. I will miss her.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 30/08/2008 14:53

i got one today, how interesting it should come up 4-5 weeks, perhaps 5 weeks + but we will see lol
let u know, i will do it tonight when kids in bed

i am having a wonderful day today. i am sitting in the communal gardens, have got the paddling pool out and filled it (took me an hour i only have a bucket!) and we are all in the sunshine, i am writing this sitting on a blanket in the shade with a tall glass of lemonade..

HEAVEN!

how are u all enjoying the sunshine?
