Hey all, Christening went well, Tons of food, and five, yes five bottles of wine left.

Didn't get pics in church as the canon didn't want us to do it but have a few pics I will put up later.
I'm off to sit in the gazebo with said bottles of wine and wait til it's dark enoguh to turn on the fairy lights

PortAndLemon · 21/09/2008 17:38

Had a good time, yes, and have some "responsible parenting" photos I'll put up later. And I got given a free sample of a new(?) Nestle fruit puree "starting from 4-6 months" that I thought I'd save for VS LJS.

We've sort-of started BLW giving DD bits to try if we're having something suitable but she hasn't managed to swallow any yet. Won't do it in an organised way for another week or two. But she did sneak a big licky slurp of DH's ice cream when he foolishly let it get close to her, so there goes the virgin gut anyway.

LadyBee · 21/09/2008 21:01

Hi PAL, nice to have you back

BTW, where has Scorpio gone? Didn't she come back from her French holiday already? or am I hallucinating?

Nice leftovers from the Christening VS (sorry, refusing to acknowledge name change, it's all too much with OMa and Sagitta TheShipsCat etc.), sitting out under fairylights sounds wonderful.

I'm tired. Nothing new there, but normally I feel a bit perked up after the weekend but today I just feel a bit beaten. No reason, just a bit blah. Hey ho, maybe I'll get some decent sleep tonight, DS is on the mend so you never know

SalLikesCoffee · 21/09/2008 22:32

Glad to hear B is on the mend, Ladybee. Hopefully you'll wake up tomorrow morning all cheerful and ready for the week.

on double celebrations in the VS house today! Good to hear you were up to it. How did the meat prep go?

PAL, well, you have to hand it to dd - if you're going to ruin your virgin gut for something, it might as well be for something good!

Strangely depressing weekend here too, not helped by the fact that all 3 of us are now snotty. Oh well. R's been waking up every half hour since he went to bed tonight, and I really, really hope he's not planning on doing this all night, as I just don't have thee will to live energy.

VictorianSqualor · 22/09/2008 08:45

My name change was only for pirate day, I'm back now

Gorgeous, VS! What beautiful kids you have. What an amazing weekend for weather!

Something in the air last night, then - DD2 up every half hour until 1 - that's the fifth bad night in a row. She did sleep until 4.55 from 1, though, which is the most sleep I've had in a chunk for at least three weeks.

Didn't have the energy to tidy the house last night so woke up to a pit this am with DH as usual being disorganised and getting changed to go on the train then coming back in, getting changed again and getting on his bike, all the while bemoaning his disorganisation so I could hardly join in!

The buggy is GREAT! Can even run with it. So I'll be jogging every day, then .

Still can't stop eating. Is anyone else getting this? I don't seem to be putting too much weight on so I can only assume my greedy guzzler is just demanding more now she's such a big dimply dumpling.

OMaLittle · 22/09/2008 11:24

Oh, and Suze, I lived on Mulberry and Spring in NoLiTa (East of Soho). It was so amazing. I bet we know people in common. I loved NY, really miss it. Haven't been back since May 05, just before I got pregnant. Did find the weather a tad extreme, though! and my job was AWFUL.

TheShipsCat · 22/09/2008 12:37

Suze - what technical stuff do you do? DH may be able to put some work your way, depending on the area you cover?

Total chaos here. We're trying to redecorate and I've started work again.

TheShipsCat · 22/09/2008 12:44

VS - did you put up a link about BLW at some point? I feel like I should read up about it...what should i read?
lovely pics, btw.

sorry for brief post- one-handed typing!

LadyBee · 22/09/2008 13:02

I'm hungry a lot OMa, I ate an enormous dinner on Saturday night and still woke up the next morning feeling like there was a gaping pit in my stomach. I'm also ravenous by dinner time if I don't have what I call my 'second lunch' around 4-5, which should just be a banana or yoghurt or something but generally ends up being a full-on sandwich, biscuit and cup of tea affair.
Blahs are still with me, I didn't get as much done on the weekend as I wanted, even though I did do tonnes of laundry and we had a lovely day out yesterday in the park, so feel a bit overwhelmed by it all this morning. Think I'll head out to breastfeeding support group this afternoon and then to library to take back all the books I haven't read but have renewed about three times already. Then do one thing at home that will make me feel like I've done something. That would be hoovering I suppose, it's the chore I hate the most so to get it out the way would make a big difference.

Lovely photos VS!

I think there's a scam going on in my street. There's a crew of guys with ladders just going into houses, 'cleaning' the windows and then knocking on the doors. But I watched one lot cleaning and they barely touched the glass with the rag, and then squeegeed a window that hadn't been washed.

I hope we don't find that the neighbours have been burgled in a couple of days. Better b)**$y-well not try it on our house

SuzeM · 22/09/2008 19:35

Great photos, VS. Hope you are feeling better.

OMaLittle, I love that area. I miss NY, I haven't been there in two years.

TheShipsCat, that's very kind of you to think of me. I document software - financial, middleware, and in the last companhy I was at, wrote legal documentation (mostly using FrameMaker, Word, HTML and some XML), so I am not extremely technical but figure out the software in order to write the user guides/online help. I am sure I've bored everyone to tears!

I am doing up my CV now ... should I write maternity leave from April to present? Otherwise I suppose they will wonder what I have been up doing these past 5 months.

SuzeM · 22/09/2008 19:38

TSC ... I normally can write and spell, honestly!

PortAndLemon · 22/09/2008 20:37

www.babyledweaning.com is the best place to start on BLW. There's also a Yahoo group about it (useful as last time I checked the babyledweaning.com forum was having technical problems).

TheShipsCat · 23/09/2008 11:55

Sorry, Suze - won't be able to help. Not my sort of subject... I really hope it goes OK though for you and DH.

Thanks Pal. Will read it now.

SalLikesCoffee · 23/09/2008 13:24

Hi everyone.

Still rather snotty here, so not really anything to report on. R now sleeping, snoring like his dad! I tried the snot sucker thing, but the neighbors are going to call SS, so thought I'd leave him to snore away in peace.

Watching rubbish morning tv now, and they're rambling on something about Christmas. That is shocking and way too organised for me! Part of me can see the point of being prepared and all that, but then you miss the excitement of the Christmas spirit, don't you?!

SuzeM · 23/09/2008 15:52

Thanks TheShipsCat. Things looking up as DH will be paid for Sept and Oct and has an interview lined up.

Sal, hope R feels better soon.

OMaLittle · 23/09/2008 16:00

That's great news, Suze (ah, poetry, one step closer to writing that novel).

Still crap nights here. I can feel the resentment rot starting to set in again. We didn't put her in her room in the end, so planning to do it this weekend - has anyone noticed a marked improvement in sleep when they move their LOs out? She does get left a bit already because I'm so dog tired I sometimes don't wake up properly until she's making quite a bit of noise.

Also, am dreaming/hallucinating EVERY NIGHT that DD1 is out of her bedroom. It's a nightmare! It's just the same as when she was little and I would half wake up and search for her in the bed (we weren't co-sleeping, she wasn't even in our room!) every night. I don't know if it's a symptom or cause of really low-quality sleep but I do know that it's driving me a little bit mad.

SuzeM · 23/09/2008 16:13

Oma, we haven't moved DD yet but plan to this weekend. She is quite noisy so I think I'll definitely sleep better.

Just heard that Nomura may keep some of my DH's team on for a while so keep your fingers crossed!

SalLikesCoffee · 23/09/2008 16:57

Suze, that's (hopefully) great news - I'll keep everything crossable crossed! Glad to hear about Oct anyway, and well done for your dh not only potentially having a job anyway, but the interview!

Oma, re sleeping. Well, he's not sleeping any longer, but we wake up less, as every single sigh or moan don't wake you up. I think sometimes you might not realise you're waking up, but you're in a lighter sleep, so if that's the case, the room separation should help. It also means that we can chat to eachother in bed without waking him up, which is great.
(And horrible, horrible mommy, but sometimes I pull the pillow over my head if he's just moaning a little and fall back to sleep )

Denny185 · 23/09/2008 21:16

Lol thats not horrible Sal just normal surely? Ive got so used to having a pillow over my head these days that even if its quite in the house I still put it there.

Would second the hearing less once they are in another room, wont nec change sleeping patterns but u will hopefully sleep better in between.

Suze glad things r looking up 4 ur husband.

Our pc died last week and DH couldnt wipe it until he had retrived pictures from the hard-drive (havnt yet printed any of DD2s baby pics) so only just up and running again.

Since last posting DD1 has lost 2 teeth and DD2 has gained 2.

Sal, lovely pics!
And VS (cant be remembering new names today) too. Bas's baptism on the 12th.

If you look in aibu yu will see I am having a shite day which is a shame as last few days have been wonderful. Bas doing ever so well- loads of laughing and chatting

dh off fixing broken float tonight but as he's been off for a month (!!) cant complain really I guess!

have lost 0.5 stone now, thats good I think as bas not affected

SalLikesCoffee · 23/09/2008 22:20

Oh Peachy, what a rubbish, rubbish day. I'm a bit lost re what to say, because I think you're already doing everything possible anyway. Hope school sort themselves out.
Glad to hear Bas is chearing you up though. Nothing like a baby's laughing to make you smile.

Denny185 · 23/09/2008 22:25

If it were me Id have lost them as i wouldnt have a clue how to retrieve, I had only said to DH a couple of days b4 it died that we needed to put the ones we want to print onto disc. Still no harm done, it was quite nice having him around for a few days and not playing nerdy games all the time.

Peachy what a shit time, there is a boy in DD's class who has challenging behaviour and his parents have been going through the same thing. He has 1-1 in the classroom but nothing at break times. When care packages are devised do they think it will be 2 different children one side for the class room and one side for the playground? I know how upset this boys mum was, she stopped doing a lot of the drop offs/pick ups to avoid parents. Its all settled now as we have a fairly good headmaster who seems to have got ontop of it. I hope your school can work with you to get the right level of support for your DS.

LadyBee · 23/09/2008 23:08

Peachy, how awful, it must have been so upsetting to be attacked like that and then all that other stuff - frustration at the school, guilt about your feelings about DS1's behaviour, that's so many hard things to cope with all at once, I'm not surprised it's all been a bit much today. And well done on the weight loss

Today feels like it's gone on forever - quite a lot of big crying from DS around naptimes which I find quite draining, plus a lunch out meant he got all a bit out kilter and I got very mixed up as to whether he might want feeding or needed to sleep or what. Very clueless mummy today.

On the other hand, I did make chutney. 4 jars of tomato and onion, with tomatoes rescued from the enormous spiders lurking in the vege garden. Tomorrow I am waiting in for someone to come and take our pre-pay electricity meter (here when we moved in) out and put a normal one in so we can go to direct debit (and possibly change supplier).

Ooh just about forgot, yesterday I got all brave and determined and called the hospital where DS was born and asked about getting a copy of my notes; they're sending me a form to request them. I'm looking forward to getting them, eventually, and hopefully will be able to arrange to go through them with someone. I think it will be a good step towards getting some of those questions I still have answered.
